Intelligence 101
Writing a story about spies and international intrigue? Not sure what you're diving into? Let me help!
Let's start with the basics.
What is Intelligence?
Basically, "intelligence" refers to the information gathered by governments or institutions that might help guide their course of action. However, there are many types of intelligence depending on how it was obtained, its purpose and the subject:
Human Intelligence: The word says it, intelligence obtained from human sources, generally during covert operations. Whether or not it is relevant depends on the operative's skills within their field of action.
Political Intelligence: Makes use of open-source reports provided by diplomatic personnel, particularly military attachés. Helps foresee the behavior of a country's political forces abroad. It's the least reliable source of information but the parts regarding military organization are the most sought after. Ironically, they're more accesible during war than when in peace.
Economical Intelligence: The collection of information on trade, finances, natural resources, industrial capacities, etc.
Technological Intelligence: Relating to the creation, development and improvement of methods of access and protection of information.
Strategic Intelligence: In charge of gathering information regarding the capacities and intentions of other countries. Includes covert operations beyond the borders, development and maintenance of special and secret diplomatic relations are included here.
Tactical Intelligence: Otherwise known as "operational" or "of combat". It has military purposes and is mainly used in times of war or international tension.
Counterintelligence: In charge of protecting a country's own intelligence systems against foreign ones.
Signal Intelligence (SIGINT): Obtained by the interception and decoding of encrypted messages.
Electronic Intelligence (ELINT): Includes remote sensors such as motion, sound and traffic ones placed in strategic spots in other countries to learn about their capabilities.
False Intelligence: Makes use of deception, disinformation, subversion and double agents.
Images Intelligence (IMINT): Videos, aerial and satellite information. Nowadays they play a vital part in the gathering of strategic information.
Now that we have dipped our toes into the intricate world of espionage things should start to seem clearer. I hope this has helped you and if you would like more information on the subject of Intelligence do stay tuned.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to submit an ask and i will do my best to help!

I find it super interesting Team red egg has Tallulah likeness while, blue (I think) has Chayanne likeness.
I guess because Tallulah is Philza daughter and Chayanne connection to Missa is rocky at best so it would hurt more. But Wilbur never gonna get on for purgatory (if I say it maybe he will.) but even him and philza probably won't see it as something to save. That's not talluah that some 'things' that has no connection so I except Philza and if Wilbur fines time they will look down on the imintation.

Can you please tell me what the big deal is about the Chinese spy baloon? I mean it is a baloon and Biden did shoot it down. Is this another issue that you people are exaggerating to make Biden look bad? Biden didn't shoot it down over the land to protect people why else would he wait? Think before you answer if you do.
Thank you for your question. On behalf of all those Welsh, Russian, American Indian, with hints of English, Scot, German, Dutch, Irish genes (My people) I will try to give you a thoughtful answer. :)
First, don't get hung up on the balloon aspect. It was basically a lighter than air ISR drone (Intelligence-Surveillance-Reconnaissance). As it did lazy 8s over some of our more sensitive sites it was obviously under some form of control. It was recently revealed that it was sending back telemetry and data using one of our own cell phone networks. This was an ELINT/IMINT asset that was allowed to loiter in US airspace for over a week and there is no reason to believe that it did not cull sensitive data that could damage our national security. It was on our part a huge counterintelligence failure.
Second, President Biden does not need anyone's help to look bad.
Third, As to why Biden waited to down the balloon? Well my visceral answer would be that I suspect the check from China cleared. I hope I am wrong but it did fly over some unpopulated area that would have been ideal for a shootdown and it would have allowed us to recover the instrument package. If we had the package, or enough to reconstruct it we could have walked the cat back on its tasking. As it turned out the device was allowed to sail peacefully over the US and complete its mission before being shot down over the sea, making recovery difficult if not impossible. In my heart I sincerely hope that this delay was because Biden is an incompetent man with the spine of a chocolate eclair and not a more sinister reason.

What abilities can the moon boys have gotten in the cia?
I mean, pretty sure theyve had to use them in their vigilante work rather than just marcs mercenary days
:DDDD First off, I can't thank you enough for sending this ask, because A) I appreciate getting asks in general since I love hearing from you guys and B) ...this is right up my alley. You have no idea how (probably inordinately) excited I am to have a reason to talk about this topic. 😅
Short answer to your question of what skills the guys might have developed as a CIA operative: skills related to gathering the basic forms of intelligence such as HUMINT, SIGINT, and IMINT (e.g. handling spies, monitoring communications, and interpreting images for actionable intelligence respectively); a deepened understanding of conducting non-conventional warfare (i.e. ambushes, raids, and """targeted killings"""); familiarity with both conducting and resisting psychological operations; survival and escape skills (i.e. diving/parachuting/etc.).
DISCLAIMER: I am just some person on the internet, so take whatever I say with a grain of salt, but if you want the long answer where I ramble about the history of the CIA, contextualize how that connects to what Marc might know how to do, and use probably entirely too many acronyms...that's beneath the cut 😅
Ok SO, to get one thing established, I am operating under the assumption that, as referenced in Moon Knight: Black, White & Blood #2's 3rd story "Blood Red Glider" when Marc referred to himself as a disgraced "operative," Marc most likely worked with the Central Intelligence Agency's Directorate of Operations (DO) as opposed to the CIA's Directorate of Analysis (DA). Nothing against the DA (especially considering that they do important work and that they and the DO, the two largest directorates of the CIA, have an ongoing brains vs brawn competition that is a legendary point of intra-agency conflict), but Marc's history does line up more with him being a part of the United States government's tertia optio, its "third option" of covert action.
For context, the modern Central Intelligence Agency is always getting into hot water for some of its absolutely bonkers espionage endeavors, but, from how I understand it, the culture of the CIA was established from the beginning as a haven for those who would go farther than anyone else to protect the aims of the United States. And they'd go to some pretty dark places to do so. In explanation (bear with me), the CIA was only established in 1947; before that, intelligence divisions such as the Second World War's Office of Strategic Services (OSS) would be formed just for the duration of the conflict before being absorbed back into the U.S. military. Two things changed, however, after the Second World War. Firstly, the U.S. government thought that, what with the rapidly developing stand off with the U.S.S.R./C.C.C.P. and post-war western Europe being comparatively in shambles, a permanent agency to analyze intelligence might be a good idea. Secondly, the standing U.S. military did not want the sorts of officers that had developed in WWII's OSS. The OSS under William "Wild Bill" Donovan was collectively seen as a bunch of loose cannons running around unshaved and unkempt in the mountains with irregular guerilla fighters and the greater U.S. military quite adamantly did not want to have to deal with wrangling such men into the spit-shined upstanding citizenship required for a military to function effectively. SO the government decided to lump any OSS officers who wanted to keep doing their job (i.e. running around unshaved and unkempt in the mountains with irregular guerilla fighters) with the more bookish analysts at the newly formed CIA, creating the DO and DA respectively and THAT'S how the ongoing culture of the DO strong-arming the rest of the agency into supporting its goals and operations with...questionably limited oversight was born!
So yeah, particularly in the mid-1970's when Marc first came on the scene, that's the sort of CIA people were familiar with: one that trotted around the world, inserting itself into local conflicts and using increasingly extreme (and occasionally absurd) means to accomplish its own ends. In fact, when Marc's debut (Werewolf-by-Night Vol. 1/1927, #32) was published in May of 1975, the United States was still embroiled in the U.S. Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations in Respect to Intelligence Activities, commonly referred to as The Church Committee, where it was finally coming to light "ayo the CIA tried to kill Fidel Castro how many times and how many ways???" and other egregious instances of the CIA's lack of oversight.
And amidst all this....the original question: what does this mean for what kind of skills Marc might have developed in the CIA? Considering the historical context surrounding Moon Knight's debut and his skill set, I firmly believe that the creators were envisioning Marc as having been a member of the CIA's "Special Activities Center" (SAC) (known at the time as the "Special Activities Division" or SAD which I always thought was funny), and specifically the Special Activities/Special Operations Group (SAC/SOG).
What that means is...a lot....we're talking thousands of tax dollars in training alone. SAC/SOG officers (fun fact: a quick way to get a frown or scowl from someone within the CIA is to off-handedly refer to them as "agent" when in fact they're "officers" and often quite proud of the government commission that entails) are the legacy of Wild Bill Donovan's wild OSS operatives. These are the guys who ever since the beginning of the CIA have been working with and training rebel forces everywhere from Vietnam with the Hmong people to Nicaragua with the Contra, operating with little oversight and the understanding that they will be disavowed if caught. Their skills are varied and wide-ranging and a sampling is as follows:
-HUMINT: Human intelligence, working with spies and locals so as to collect intelligence
-SIGINT: Signals intelligence, what you envision as your typical "spycraft tech," the operation and upkeep of specialized communications equipment to either clandestinely listen in on targeted comms or to communicate clandestinely with other operatives
-IMINT: Imagery Intelligence, the ability to analyze satellite, drone, camera, or other types of footage to derive actionable intelligence
-Unconventional warfare: Where as the Marine Corps might have taught Marc basic weapons handling and tactics, this sort of work would teach him the sort of "hunting" he references on occasion, such as raiding, ambushing, and eliminating targets with a variety of possible weapons and/or ordinance
-Psychological Operations (Psyops): while there's a whole other half to the SAC that deals with propaganda (the Political Action Group/PAG), SAC/SOG officers are familiar with the importance and use of "covert influence" as well
-Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training: a school offered to specific personnel within the United States military and intelligence community to teach methods to cope with and escape captivity/torture
-Exfiltration and transportation: And then there's just the fun stuff such as lockpicking, dive school, hotwiring cars and evasive driving, as well as HALO/HAHO parachuting (High Altitude-Low Opening and High Altitude-High Opening respectively, plus there's also the Fulton surface-to-air-recovery system/STARS which is still on the books for the CIA apparently and is absolutely NUTS look it up if you have the chance)
So yeah...this is probably far more than anyone wants, but you said just the right combination of words for me to have a reason to unload about something I've spent a lot of time learning about. And in connection with my favorite comic book character too! Thanks everyone for bearing with me and sorry about the absolute barrage of text hahahaha
