You stood out compared to the Harkonnens, in more ways than just one. You wore loose clothing: rich brown pants or skirts and deep greens tied around your torso and arms, sometimes flashes of red or blue—all washed out under any sunlight. You carried with you strange jars and herbs, your dark, sunblocking glasses atop your head if not perched on your nose, your waist satchel stuffed with samples—you must have looked completely alien to their more minimalist sensibilities. “You dress oddly for someone from the Imperium,” one of your workers remarked. “Is it your goal to one day turn into a plant, and not just look like one?”

hey, how's it going! i don't have a job and i'd like to be able to afford some black-out curtains and other things before i suffer in a house without air conditioning again this summer. so, i'm offering some simple, uncolored pencil sketch or line art commissions!

I know the posts that are, essentially, the Carl Sagan "you are made of starstuff" quotes can be cheesy or almost... I guess too fantastical, but I've looked at human cells, and do you ever notice they almost look like Van Gogh's paintings (at least some of them!). Each of your (conservative estimate) ~30 trillion cells in your body contribute to building you, and they're all just... really beautiful. Even the most "simple" of your cells reminds me of a very calming painting, lily-pads on a lake, a reminder that you're here. That feels like art that's only captured once in a lifetime, quite literally, too. I hope you remember that, whenever you feel incomplete, uncomplex, listless, whatever it may be. If you're made of starstuff, you're made also of trillions of paintings.

okay so can everyone make art because it came free with your humanity or is art defined by how much physical effort you put into it. answer quickly

#lifeblogs #i have a lot of thoughts about ai art as a process i think it's really interesting #on one hand it's physically 'easier' than a lot of art but on the other hand to get that 'ease' you have to give up a lot of control #if you're working with like. a text prompt image generator #anyway. if you want to make the argument that ai shouldn't be trained on people's art without their consent that's one thing #and like to me that raises lots of questions about whether art truly 'belongs' to the creator once it's out in the world etc and so on #which is its own conversation.#but 'it's not real art' 'it doesn't take any effort' etc etc etc is like. i don't know. do you really see art that way?
