hello. i really enjoy your content, but i have to say i'm kinda disappointed on you still being a ts fan. this woman knows what disney does and yet she still gave them the rights, meaning she either doesn't care or actively supports the genocide. or maybe she decided to turn her morals off because money is more important. not to mention how she consistently associates herself with questionable people and how a person literally died in one of her shows on brazil and she gave zero fucks. this woman is not a good person and there are no excuses to being her fan anymore.

no, i fully understand what you're saying and where you're coming from. over the last like. idk year and a half? ive been pretty vocal about my disappointment, distaste, and disagreement with a multitude of the choices she's made lately. i 100% agree that her silence on the subject of palestinian genocide (as well as many other human rights/social causes) is at best a sign of apathy and at worst a sign of support. especially when miss americana was all about her wanting to be more outspoken and be an activist. that all feels so incredibly performative now -- and has for a while. a lot of things that she's said and done since midnights, which is when i became more active in the tumblr swiftie community, have left a bad taste in my mouth for her as a person.

like i said, i genuinely agree with what you're saying. the only thing i take issue with is that she didn't care that a fan died at her show. she donated money to the fan's family and took time to meet them. regardless of my many issues with her, i do think she can be an empathetic person and i don't think that she just straight up didn't care that someone died before her show. it's one of those things (of which there are many) where we'll never know her true thoughts bc she doesn't talk about things. which is frustrating in itself.

now that's not the point of your message, so feel free to write that off as a digression. i strongly disagree with her making yet another version of the eras tour movie and hosting it on disney+. I'm personally boycotting disney+ and have been for a while. I don't even intend on watching the new version and like the vast majority of everything I gif, that shit is pirated -- that's how I watched the original release of the movie. obviously my consumption/boycotting is just one person compared to blondie, who has influence over millions, who could make real change if she spoke out against genocide.

at this point, im not supporting her financially either apart from listening to her music. which i love. im sorry, but I do. if I didn't, we wouldn't be having this conversation. i think her constant churning out different exclusive versions of the same albums are a transparent money grab and maybe an effort to set more records as far as sales or streams or however that all works. and I'm not just saying that bc I literally couldn't even afford to buy a digital copy of an album right now.

so yeah. I appreciate that you enjoy my content and thank you for saying so, but if you need to unfollow or block, i understand. I've definitely toned down/completely stopped sharing posts about her as a person bc I'd much rather focus on just the music. and maybe that makes me a bad person for continuing to listen to and enjoy her music. im not saying i necessarily feel good about it, but i think the fact of the matter is that a lot of the celebrities, actors, musicians, etc. we like or whose content we enjoy hold views we disagree with and have different values or priorities. nuance exists. right now, im someone who is vocal about the palestinian genocide and I try to share resources/posts about it when they come across my dash and im also someone who is a fan of Taylor's music.

Idk, I hope what I'm saying makes sense at least on some level. I've done my best to word things coherently, but brain fog fucks w me a lot. and like. it's probably whatever, but I do plan on changing my url after ttpd releases. That probably upsets you more and I can see how people might think im a hypocrite or something and yeah, I get it. Idk, I just want to enjoy someone's music without endorsing them as a person, but that's extra difficult when the person in question is the biggest singer in the industry. but you'll never see me making excuses for her on things like this or the m*tty situation or numerous other things she's said and done that gross me out. im not so far up her ass that I think she's perfect or that I feel the need to defend her at every turn. like I said, nuance. anyway, if you feel the need to respond, i welcome you to do so as long as we both remain respectful, which I think we've done. this is a difficult topic, but that doesn't mean we can't discuss it. I appreciate your point of view and I'm sorry that I've disappointed you!

mark is the main rapper of got7, although uh…got7 isn’t really a hip-hop focused group (no matter what claims they made during their debut era.) so his rapping is pretty….mediocre lmao. it’s more of a matter of jyp not really letting them show off any rap skills they might have because their songs aren’t rap oriented. BUT HONESTLY? i still loving hearing his verses because his voice will make you bust a nut istg i remember v clearly my first impression of mark and i’d like to share it with you- luckily they’re all labelled by name at the start here. it;s one of the GOT the stage performances, which essentially is when the perform one of their songs in a mini-mv with only like 3 of the members and they all do their parts (and sometimes other members parts) and the one that got me was mark, jinyoung and yugyeom’s stage of paradise. that was the first time i properly heard mark’s voice and i just. nut. every time.

he’s also the one in charge of martial arts tricking, so essentially flips and acrobatic shit. it is AWESOME.

he does some p cool shit but i need to use less gifs in this bc this post is already long af and is not even finished lmao

he’s also the oldest member of got7, but really doesn’t act like it LMAO. the only member who can pull the “hyung” card on jaebum (the leader). he just…really doesnt act like the oldest lololol he’s such a baby sometimes omfg i love him…he’s always being a lil shit to his members in really subtle ways?? he’s not the usual “mum” stereotype we see from most oldest members (for got7, the mum is jinyoung. he even said it himself.) he’s just one giant manchild and im honestly living for it.

oh yeah how could i almost forget…he’s american (but of taiwanese descent) and his hometown is LA, making him a native english speaker. he’s part of the foreigner line along with jackson (chinese, also speaks english and like 50 billion other languages) and bambam (thai, speaks english and thai as well, and my ULTIMATE BIAS KLDFHHKDFGKK) so those three are p close, he’s often shipped with the two of them and also jinyoung for some reason im yet to see so his main ships are markson (mark x jackson, probably the most popular ship bc they even ship it themselves as seen on the markson show on asc, plus jackson is gay for like everyone in the group), markbam (mark x bambam) and markjin. (mark x jinyoung).

mark was p shy and quiet at first??? he definitely still is, he’s an introvert (more specifically an ISTJ if you’re curious) and that’s kinda his defining trait, but he certainly knows how to let loose and be loud and obnoxious, probably props to jackson and bambam lmao. you mainly see him become more wild when the other members are as well bc its more comfortable for him, but he definitely won’t be the one to start it. even tho 5 out of 7 members of got7 are introverts, they’re all really fucking loud at some points (especially jackson, bambam and youngjae) and they got the fan-dubbed name thot7 for a reason. just look at them.

there is SO MUCH HAPPENING in this gif but i honestly think its the quickest and most accurate summary of got7 you can find out there, except for the fact that jackson is the only one being remotely normal (which usually is quite the contrary). mark is the one in the purple shirt grinding in the air lmao (and yes, jinyoung IS trying to choke yugyeomt here that prooobably wasn’t accidental).

Ok fandom wise, as far as I know from that time to now carats are literally one of the nicest fandom’s I’ve ever been apart of like literally I love them so much. The fandom isn’t perfect, there’s some really not-so-nice fans like some who sexualise the members and like fanwars or yk have done some really shitty things (im not gonna go into detail but I know a few things) but the good fans really out weigh them! Don’t be intimidated to come of anon and talk to me or other members of the fandom trust me you won’t regret it at all!

So I mentioned Seventeen TV earlier and basically before seventeen debuted they had a program that aired on ustream that basically showed them practicing, playing games and other things as well. It was really entertaining and I really enjoyed it! Like seriously you should watch it it’s really funny I’m not even jokingg.

Sadly, the ustream channel has a password now bUT you can watch some clips or full episodes here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here just to give you a few (I tried to give you as much as I could find really ;A:;;) but really youtube has a lot of videos on it.

I forgot to mention but during the duration of seventeen tv there were other member but subsequently they left due to various reasons. These members include: Samuel (who was part of the duo 1punch which has now broken up, was on produce101 season 2 and has recently debuted with a bomb ass song), Doyoon (he is training to become an actor i think), Dongjin and MingMing.

They also had another predebut program called Andromeda. Subs can be found here

Right before seventeen debuted a program called Seventeen Project aired. Basically they go through a lot of trials and tests (? i think?) to get them ready for debut! You can watch it subbed here. You should definitely watch this one because you get to know the boys a little better.

For inside jokes this list on amino is literally a god sent but i was updated around january of this year. Speaking of amino, there’s a timeline on it, here. It’s outdated by a year but it’s really helpful as well. (Btw my favourite inside jokes are probably KIMBAP KIDDING and drink water lmao).

I also recommend watching all like17sub’s videos and what17says’s videos as well. As they’ve been subbers in the fandom for a fairly decent amount of time.Kwonvely is a more recent subber but I recommend you watch their subbed videos as well!

Svtunited subs and SVTdiamond subs haven’t updated in a while but they still have a significant amount of videos, especially from the earlier days!

A really nice way to know the members is through their Vlive channel where they do various live streams. The boys have had a reality show One Fine Day and a more recent one One Fine Day 2. They also have an ongoing series called Going Seventeen. On their Vlive+ there’s a series called ‘Where is my Friend’s home?’ where they basically visit the members’ hometowns (they mostly eat tho lmao). I believe minicarats only has the perf team’s one up right now but I believe the hip hop and vocal teams’ will come out soon. Someone uploaded theirs on youtube but obviously the channel got terminated.

They’ve released some DVDs as well which I totally recommend you watch. Seventeen Boy’s Wish CONCERT (1) (2) (3), Shining Diamond Concert (1) (2) (3), Seventeen’s 2017 Season Greetings.

ALSO a great way of getting to know the members more is probably from mackenzie - ww’s why we love seventeen series, here, on youtube.I would also recommend her 10 reasons to love seventeen series here as well. Another good one is LoliKitty’s english time series as well, here. (IT kills me everytime lmao). Lolikitty has only 2 kpop meme origins but it explains 2 fandom jokes, jisoos christ and headlines headlines in a really funny way lmao.

Microsoft’s romance with open source software is on display at Build 2020

An absolute ton of new announcements has been coming out of this week’s Microsoft Build 2020 virtual conference for Windows developers. While cool, most of them are a little thin for individual reports—so we’ll get you up to speed on them in this roundup, with links out to each topic if you’re interested in more.

Windows Terminal goes 1.0

Windows Terminal 1.0 settings are modified in a very Linux-y way—by editing a big JSON-formatted text file, which pops up in Notepad when accessed from the Settings menu.

In addition to multiple tabs, you can open terminals in multiple panes on the same tab, using alt-shift-plus and alt-shift-minus to split vertically and horizontally.

Obnoxiously, splitting a terminal into panes forces those panes into the default shell, no matter what the shell originally in that tab was. You can get around that by running a different interpreter inside that pane, once split.

As Windows 10—and Server 2019—pack in more and better command-line functionality, one of the parts of the overall experience that began looking shabby by comparison is the terminal itself.

Windows Terminal seeks to change that, and it has just gone 1.0. The terminal itself is open source and is available for perusal and/or hacking at Github under the MIT license. Microsoft’s own announcement makes a point of individually crediting 14 contributors by name and acknowledging hundreds more, which is a more-than-welcome sea change for those of us old enough to have lived through the Halloween Documents era.

As for the usability of the project itself—it’s promising but still needs work, from the jaundiced perspective of a daily-driving Linux user. We like the JSON-formatted Settings file, which can be spawned in Notepad with a simple menu click. We like the native support for both tabs and panes even more—but rough edges include the fact that, under default configs, an Ubuntu/bash shell suddenly turns into two PowerShell panes if you split it.

The problem is that the pane-split hotkeys only support creating the new panes with the default profile under Terminal, and the profile includes the interpreter loaded. In addition to changing the default profile—which is very nerdily done by copying and pasting GUIDs in the settings.json—clever users can work around this limitation to some degree by simply executing a different interpreter inside the pane, after the pane itself has been opened.

Terminal 1.0 also offers somewhat PuTTY-style copy-and-paste support—selecting text in Terminal doesn’t automatically put it in the copy buffer like it does on PuTTY (you need a more Linux-y ctrl-shift-C for that), but right-clicking in another Terminal pane instantly pastes.

There are plenty more features in Terminal, most of which seem to amount for now to “shiny”—background images, animated GIFs, scanlines and glowing text (to emulate ancient green-screen CRTs), and so forth. Interested users are advised to check out the Build announcement here and the project docs here.

Azure Arc adds Kubernetes management to its CV

Azure Arc is—or at least will be—Microsoft’s one-stack-fits-all-services cloud-management tool.

The goal is for Arc to be as vendor- and type-neutral as possible, with support for managing Windows and Linux servers and VMs, Azure cloud services, and now Kubernetes container clusters from a single pane of glass.

It has been tempting to think of Microsoft and Canonical as locked-in partners with the emphasis on Ubuntu in Windows Subsystem for Linux, but Microsoft demonstrates continued vendor neutrality in Arc with an announcement of direct support and integration of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server—which has a larger overall footprint in Europe than it does in the United States, aside from some specialty platforms (such as SAP Hana Enterprise Resource Planning).

Although Azure Arc is still in preview (mostly public preview, with some features still in private preview) interested users can sign up to get started with it today.

Microsoft loves open source these days—here’s the Fluid framework to prove it

The Fluid framework was one of the more interesting announcements made at last year’s Ignite conference. Fluid enables document collaboration at massive scale and low latency—and it also blurs the lines between traditional document types, allowing simple and functional dynamic content embedding from one framework to the next.

Microsoft has been teasing us with Fluid integration into Office 365 apps since the framework’s initial announcement in September—this week, the company took things a step further by promising to open source the framework as well. Office 365 VP Jared Spataro announced that “Microsoft will be making the Fluid Framework open source, allowing developers and creators to use key infrastructure from Fluid Framework in their own applications.”

As exciting as this is, we’re a little worried about the follow-on social engineering implications—being able to easily embed fully responsive Office document functionality in arbitrary webpages may make it that much easier to confuse users into putting confidential data and credentials into places they shouldn’t.

Social hacking—integrated voice and text chat in Visual Studio Live Share

Visual Studio Live Share is sort of like Google Docs for code—you and several colleagues can live-edit the same document, with cursors highlighting each of your changes live as they happen.

Latency in VS Live Share is considerably lower than what most users will be accustomed to from Google Docs, however—and of course, the collaboration happens inside a full-featured development environment, not a simple word-processing document.

The missing piece of this puzzle, until now, has been out-of-band communication—more simply, chat, whether text or voice. Until now, developers have needed to sideload separate tools for that—perhaps using Teams in another window for instant messaging, or Mumble / Skype / Hangouts / whatever for voice. Today’s public preview brings the missing communication features directly into Visual Studio Live Share itself.

Project Reunion—you got your UWP in my Win32

Project Reunion aims to allow access to both UWP and Win32 libraries from a single unifying framework.

One of the frustrations with developing for Windows is the coexistence of legacy and modern APIs. Use of the elderly Win32 API is for many developers more familiar, but shifting to UWP—the Universal Windows Platform—means getting access not only to Windows but also to Xbox One, HoloLens, and future hardware platforms. UWP also means an additional layer of security, which will frustrate as many developers as it delights—UWP apps can only be installed directly from the Microsoft Store.

Project Reunion, unveiled Wednesday at Build 2020, aims to heal this divide somewhat by decoupling both APIs from the Windows OS and making functionality universally available to apps built under either API. For example, Reunion makes WinUI 3 Preview 1—the modern native UI framework for Windows—available to either UWP or Desktop (Win32) apps in the same way.

Microsoft is engineering Project Reunion openly and publicly on Github, giving non-Microsoft developers a chance to directly influence the future of Windows development.

Microsoft Teams adds bookings, bots, and broadcasts

Microsoft Teams is the next-generation messaging and collaboration application from Redmond, replacing what your cynical author used to call “Lync, Skype for Business, or whatever they’re calling it this week.”

Unlike Lync and Skype for Business, Teams has a functional Web interface. This makes it a much less painful experience for those who don’t or can’t install the native client directly onto their own PC—including, but not limited to, Linux users.

The news this week is integration of appointment scheduling and shift management directly in Teams itself, along with chatbots and support for third-party streaming services. Scheduling and chatbots are exactly what they sound like—and if you’re not familiar with the streaming option, think “interview on Teams, stream to the world via Open Broadcast Studio (or similar platform).”

By ditching its own proprietary rendering engine and collaborating with Google on the Chromium open source browser, Microsoft gained back a lot of available personnel hours and energy for innovation.

Building atop Chromium pretty much instantly produced a snappy, usable browser guaranteed to work nearly anywhere that Chrome does; since then, Microsoft has split its focus on integration with its own platforms (such as Office 365 SSO authentication) and usability features. Collections is one of those features—simply put, it allows users to graphically, intuitively, and simply build rich “website playlists” that can be saved and perused later.

Microsoft might have lost us a bit with its latest integration, though—the browser is integrating Pinterest into its Collections feature, showing suggestions for Pinterest boards at the bottom of users’ Edge Collections, and allowing Collections themselves to export to Pinterest. Meh.
