Two years ago today, I found out I would be getting my dream job at the Canadian Cancer Society. Wow, time has flown like crazy!! I am so glad that I lucked out and landed not only working for an organization whose mission I genuinely care about and love, but I earned a spot on a team full of amazing people from whom I have learned so much. Okay, so many people probably won’t understand what I mean when I say this....

But hear me out!

Tasting the way something smells, whether it’s an edible or inedible smell.

Just listen!

So I always found the term interesting, but nobody would understand what i was talking about.

I’m talking about where if you physically eat something and the taste of that something is the way something else smells.

Example: “This cookie tastes like the way coffee smells”

The cookies doesn’t taste like coffee, then I would’ve said it tasted like coffee, but rather it taste like the way something smells which could be preferred over the actual taste of the originator of the term.

Coffee to many has a different taste and preference to different people, so me claiming that the cookie “Tastes like coffee” would give out a different response, rather than the smell which is more appealing and durable towards others than than the taste. So me saying it “Tastes like the smell of coffee” that seems more appealing or forgiving if you will with the term because people have both tasted and smelled coffee before.

Then there’s inedible stuff.

Example: “This candy tastes like the way Pinesol smells”

Now me personally, I have never tried Pinesol, but I’m sure if there was peppermint scented bleach people could tell you that that doesn’t taste like peppermint. So here’s my point, it’s inedible but we can describe the taste of it to that of something the way it smells, i mean we can’t exactly properly eat something with out smelling it to see if it’s appealing or not, but also because our taste cannot properly function with out smell.

Example: If I eat string beans while my nose is plugged up, I most likely won’t be able to taste them, but if i were to eat something spicy like Hot Cheetos with my nose stopped up I’d still be able to feel and “taste” the spice.

Why though?
