Bad is such such SUCH a good father but his self-sacrificial nature has definitely rubbed off on his children and it’s fascinating to see him struggle with that.
Bad, about Pomme being willing to die for Richarlyson: “I understand the sentiment because I would sacrifice myself for any of you. But you shouldn’t do it unless- Uh. It shouldn’t be something you rush into. (Reading Pomme’s sign) ‘Only when I have no choice’ … Okay… I’ll just make sure you never get the opportunity then.”
This is one of the most fascinating lines from q!Bad tonight in my opinion because you can literally hear him realize, in REAL TIME, how unhealthy his mindset is once it’s applied to anyone other than himself. He hears his own voice out of the mouths of his children and he hates it - but in trying to dissuade them, he stutters, because he still doesn’t think it’s wrong. He starts to tell Pomme “you shouldn’t do it unless-” and then cuts himself off because he doesn’t want Pomme to sacrifice herself at all, actually. Buuuuut he still believes self-sacrificial behavior is okay and so he can’t actually say “never sacrifice yourself.”
So instead he has to say “it shouldn’t be the first option” and Pomme replies with “only if I have no choice” which he clearly doesn’t like either but what can he say? ‘No, that’s wrong too’?
No. He can’t say that. Because if he’s teaching his kids that sacrificing themselves is never worth it and will hurt the people around them, then what does that mean for him?
So he just accepts it and settles for “Oh but I’ll make sure you never have to make that choice” which is obviously NOT the correct response to your child telling you they’re willing to die for any reason… but he can’t quite make himself say anything else, or he risks having to seriously re-evaluate the value of his own life. The flippant way in which he treats his health and safety in comparison to others has influenced his kids negatively, whether he likes it or not.

Today I was rewatching the scene where Sora and Roxas meet in DDD, and I have to say that Roxas’ expression after Sora told him that he deserves to exist kills me every time. The expression of pure shock on Roxas’ face, as he processed the fact that Sora, of all people, was telling him what no one else would. Something that he so much needed, and deserved, to hear.
It’s heartbreaking that Roxas, who had fought with all his being for his identity and for his right to exist, appeared in Sora’s dreams to tell him that “It really has to be you” and that they’re the same (“You’re me, so you can feel what I felt.”), showing that, by that point, he had given up.
But Sora told him that it wasn’t true, that Roxas is Roxas and he deserved to exist just as much as Sora did. The shocked expression on Roxas’ face says it all. No one had ever told him that. No one had ever believed that. By that point, not even Roxas believed that anymore. Sora’s words allowed him to hope again, so he smiled at Sora—a genuine smile—and told him again that that was why it had to be Sora.
Roxas had already accepted Sora, and he respected him after their fight in KH2, but I think this was the moment when he truly started to like Sora. Sora’s words gave him back some hope, and Sora didn’t just say that, but went out of his way afterwards to honour those words and make sure that Roxas could exist.

While Rain Code is a great game, I’ll admit….I’m not sure if I can recommend it to a lot of people who haven’t played DR or doesn’t like DR in general?
I think the best way to go about introducing Rain Code to anyone who hasn't played Danganronpa, yet shows interest, is to play through the Danganronpa trilogy first before playing Rain Code in order for the blood plot twist to have a lot more impact. That revelation isn't anywhere near as impactful as it is without the taught acceptance of the pink blood being natural. It's easy to tell that this specific plot point was written for people who've played Dangan (it might even classify as an unconventional type of fanservice), so having that background knowledge can enhance the experience in that regard.
It's a much harder sell for people who dislike Danganronpa to be introduced to Rain Code. If they don't like Kodaka's writing, there's a decent chance they also won't like his writing here. Rain Code shines brightest with its characters and their dynamics, it's probably the game's greatest feat along with the voice acting and soundtrack. So if nothing else, it's worth attesting to that as the main selling point. I think it's at least worth letting people give it a try. There are plenty of playthroughs out there for people to give it a watch, and if they don't like it, there's no harm in stopping. I can see how chapter 0 could cause people to turn away from it, as it basically pulls a 'Kaede' by killing off characters that are presented to have potential arcs. However, from what I've seen, chapter 0 functions as shock value to those who followed the game during pre-release. But to those who haven't been familiar with the game and its characters at that time, they may actually not be as turned off by it. But that's just a theory, a GAYME THEORY!
Sorry.
Anyway, overall, I personally think it's best to showcase Rain Code with the notion that it definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea and is meant for a pretty niche audience of people who enjoy these types of wacky murder mystery games. I would say to tell them that chapter 4 is what makes going through a majority or all of the game worth it, but ya don't want to sour that experience if they never get attached to the characters. Chapter 4 is the best mystery in the game by a long shot, but it's even better if the player is actively attached and cares for the characters. Spread the good word of Rain Code's highs while remaining aware of its lows.

I haven’t watched tlfoah, but why is my baby girl bleeding in that gifset? 😭
It's a show about domestic abuse so if you do end up watching it, be prepared for that. It's not overly gratuitous in its depictions tho so don't necessarily let that scare you off, but it does show some of it. In the gifset particularly it's the aftermath of when her boyfriend, Dylan, gets violent and, among other things, slams her head against a cabinet because he saw her hugging a guy coworker in thanks after he'd helped her through a panic attack.
She does smack him in the head with a big ass standing lamp tho.
Should've double tapped that mf 😒

I love her but she isn't as high on my blorbo list
The reason I put "most fandom takes are incorrect" was because I've seen her be awfully written and being given bad hcs that don't make sence to her character. By "most" I really mean "some"

hi
so
this is going to be long
I have seen those type of posts , the /most/ problematic aspect of those blogs is that they actually find they weren't /anti/ or /problematic/ takes in the first place -> they find normal Gabriel would be not only a neglectful father but also partner in other senses aswell
that an author decides to destroy her own character to let other characters "shine" in a new novel, doesn't erase this said character characteristics stablished in previous novels. Cecily would never tolerate being with someone that not only mistreats her but also neglects the family they make
Cecily does most of the work -> this is not only sexist but also saying her job is to be a child raiser, in the infernal devices Cecily made clear she wanted to fight, she explicitely said she wanted to be more than a wife (/or even a mother/)
I have seen many posts praising Gideon (who /canonically/ is always working ) or Will (who /canonically/ treats his children like they were his bestfriends and who overlooked many things a parent should /never/ overlook), ironically the one left out and pointed as neglectful is Gabriel who /canonically/ is seen accepting his children and hugging them everytime he saw them in canon.
Many pieces by fans also describe Gabriel not wanting kids or having breakdowns when he is told Cecily is pregnant -> how can you keep being with a person who makes an scene when you tell him you are expecting? -> how can you have 2 more kids with that person?
Taking canon back into account, Gabriel comes from a family where the concept of "family" is very important. Benedict taught them to be loyal and protect the family -> family before law. Also Benedict would have probably expected both Gideon and Gabriel to maintain the family's name, by having children. Then Gabriel since a child would have known at some point he would have kids -> and he surely knew how they were made.
If he ever had doubts there were things he could have done -> not marrying until he was sure, tell his partner about this thoughts, take contraception, etc.
thanks for reading all
Hi!
Let me say firstly that I agree with literally everything you said, but my elaboration will be quite long too.
I was shocked in the first place by how these people normalize Gabriel being neglectful to both Cecily and the kids. They don’t call this problematic, for them it's just a Tuesday.
I was baffled by this sexist and borderline abusive vision of Gabriel, and even more by the vision of Cecily totally accepting this passively, which is a very misognistic take beside making Cecily super OOC.
If Gabriel should ever go crazy and become a sexist asshole, Cecily would, as we say in my country, slap him twice per time until she reaches an odd number.
The implications that Cecily’s only work is raising kids is CC's fault because she ruined her character, but the fandom that says that she’s basically alone in this is an expression of all their misoginy. Gabriel would never let Cecily alone to raise his kids while he goes to the pub.
Yes, they adore either canonically absent fathers like Gideon or the worst father of TLH, Will. I don’t like Will, and TLH only confirmed what I was thinking about him: he likes being a friend for his kids, not actually parent them. If he was a good father as his stans claim him to be, half of the plot of TLH wouldn’t exist because he would have realized immediately that James and Lucie were having issues.
But he's the fandom favourite, so a man-child who at 40+ years old is as immature as he was at 17 is a better father of Gabriel who actually cares about his kids in canon.
And don't get me started with the fanfics where Gabriel is upset because Cecily is pregnant, or she’s too scared of telling him she’s expecting.
This is a typical vision of Gabrily written by Wessa stans, but that’s another rant that I will do another time.
Some people try to justify this with the fact that Gabriel was raised by Benedict, but as you said Gabriel is very loyal to family and in my opinion, after finding out the truth about his father, he would do everything in his power to be the opposite as Benedict and be sure that Cecily and the kids know that he loves them dearly.

On the one hand, I’m really sad that Oda is taking a month off to prepare for the final saga of One Piece. I love this series and I’m not ready for it to be over.
On the other hand, the Yonko Saga lasted seven years.
I think I’ll have plenty of time to adjust.

How would whitty react to seeing bf (badly injured) after what happened at indie cross? 🤔 🤔
kinda rambly so cut
ah man idk. for one, whitty would want to hunt down bendy and make him pay aka tear him to shreds, but that's not very productive or easy to do given the dimension hopping required to do that so nvm (also I guess to start with he wouldn't know who did it anyways so couldn't do much either way). priority one is bf and making sure he's ok anyways, so putting the anger to the side for now, idk it'd be a lot of emotions and worry. but he'd have to try to supress and ignore all that aswell at least until he's gotten bf to someone who can treat his injuries or something like that. otherwise he might start crying and panic and stuff, and that would help no one in the situation, especially not bf, in fact the gasoline leakage would probably be really bad for bf more than usual in this situation so whitty just has to suck it up for a bit. once bf is safely out of his hands he might take a moment to have a minor breakdown, crying and maybe break something, like maybe punch a tree in half or something idk lol, just to get enough frustrations out. then as fast as possible get back to bf's side ofc. what would his thoughts be in the situation? idk, anger at whoever dared to do this, anger and sadness at the thought that anyone would think to do this towards bf in the first place. anger and dissappointment towards himself that he couldn't be there to protect bf when he needed it. so much worry and worst case scenarios of what if's running through his head like what if bf's not gonna make it, and iffy thoughts like that. he might end up blaming himself for letting it happen eventhough he literally could've done nothing differently being stuck in a different dimension or whatever, none of it is his fault but he's supposed to be there and protect bf when he needs it damn it. so yeah idk, lots of feelings I guess lol. once he's back at bf's side he'll chill out a bit I suppose
