questions
hi
i'm antiship, almost pro para/paraneutral, anti c but i have many questions about those things and i was wondering if someone could answer these for me..in comments/asks i suppose, or dms if you feel like letting me annoy you with additional ones - though these are rather nsfw so no minors would be a disclaimer here, im an adult myself...
im not sure if im comfortable with rbs on this, because of overwhelming amounts of notifs i usually get with rb-based interactions.
english isnt my native language, some things might be worded badly. and of course cw for nsfw, SA, discussion of pxrn, common discourse topics in both communities(from anti side), general triggers. and again, since im anti/paraneutral, I will say things that might tick you off, and i'm not sure how to juggle with it - i'm using examples, stances, and personal thoughts to be able to get more clearer examples, stances and personal thoughts in reply, if that makes sense.
FYI i know those things are different and not directly connected, you can be proship and not propara vice versa.
proship:
fiction isn't reality, though i've been of the belief that it can affect it. Such as effects of porn on violence or worse during sex; The brain not seeing difference from fabrication/reality itself; desensitizing et al... which is half the reason I'm antiship, and i wanted to know if there are any counter arguments to that be it studies or something you'd just want to ramble on?
personal experience question: why are people proship? what interests them in this kind of fiction? dynamics?
is there any misconceptions or something alike you see from the general public when it comes to proship? be it from anti, pro, or clueless people
are there any scientific studies you'd like to share that in general talk about the usage of taboo in fiction or morbid media?
propara:
when it comes to paraphilias, are they something that just..happen to ya? random attraction that isn't happening by will, be it mental illness (paraphilic disorder) or not (just paraphilic)? I know about attraction=/= action, but the inner details of what a paraphilia is itself sometimes confuses me or maybe the research isn't that good about it for me to find info on it.
this is something i have trouble being 100 supportive on - how does usage of fiction or fantasy help, or prevent harm when it comes to paraphilias? such as for ex. usage of fantasy or realistic toys if one has one of The Big 3 paraphilias, etc. Though of course there are More paraphilias associated with attraction to Harmful things if acted upon but I hope yk what I mean
whats complex consent?
is there any misconceptions or something alike you see from the general public when it comes to paraphilias? be it from anti, pro, or clueless people
are there any scientific studies you'd like to share that in general talk about paraphilias, how they are coped with, and other stuff alike?
silly ramble ended with another question:
personally, some of my lack of support for bits of both of those things has to do with my personal view of morality, and discomfort.
raised with a high sense of morality + unfortunate experiences/trauma leading to sour feelings about some communties (proship et al) also played into it. in general, since i was a tween i was around people who said if you like fictional xyz, then you're xyzphile (-phile term used wrong too, meant someone who is willingly attracted/seeks out attraction to xyz and/or attempt at sexually offending them) so that also lead to me just following the flow. though as of right now i feel there is still a difference.
Like, yes, this person likes fictional morbid content, but it does not mean that that interest is sexual, and even if it is it does not mean they will commit a crime of those morbid styles in real life. Its just that that interest is....problematic, i guess. so question
While I still believe that being attracted to fictional likeness of something morbid to be a tad problematic on its own, even if the person doesn't do much or think much about the IRL counterpart, i want to know if there are counter arguments to that too?
I see that a lot of my personal feelings about this are "kinda weird, kinda not into excusing it as just fiction" i guess i still want to know or read more of the Pro argument variation of this stance? i think im repeating myself
I hope all of that made sense despite being rambly, thanks for any responses

Hey I saw a rb of yours about having mental health struggles and I try to send people resources when I think they could use them soo: You'll benefit from looking at them right away, but you can also save them on your desktop and schedule yourself or give yourself reminders to use them. Even chipping away at them bit by bit is good.
https://integralguide.com/%E2%AD%90%EF%B8%8F+Start+Here/About - A great wiki and tree/CYOA format guide and resource for treating things like anxiety, trauma, CPTSD, depression, ADHD and OCD, and for improving overall wellbeing. If nothing else, read the short intro because it demonstrates what it is.
Mental Health Resource List https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jbAxPB8QKG3NLUKNZB8h1fNUjzcXaNrZ/view - Problem, minority and area specific international resources.
https://www.therapistaid.com/ - Accessible mental health and therapy education, resources and worksheets.
https://www.verywellmind.com/about-explanatory-styles-3145110 - A very short read but very useful.
https://positivepsychology.com/mental-health-exercises-interventions - A good in-depth guide and overview for treating and managing anxiety and depression and their symptoms, with references and links to other resources.
Mental health apps like Wysa and Sanvello - Accessible and low effort, recommend to use alongside other resources.
https://socialwork.buffalo.edu/resources/self-care-starter-kit/developing-your-self-care-plan.html - Functional, kind, well-communicated and succinct resource for taking care of yourself and all your needs, both long-term and in crisis.
https://socialwork.buffalo.edu/resources/self-care-starter-kit/self-care-assessments-exercises/exercises-and-activities.html - Guidance on resting and relaxing effectively, time management, physical health, lifestyle and mental health maintenance.
https://socialwork.buffalo.edu/resources/self-care-starter-kit/additional-self-care-resources/developing-your-support-system.html - Once again practical, kind and wise guidance and tips for how to find, develop and maintain a comprehensive support system and what to avoid.
Books by Babette Rothschild, particularly 8 Keys to Safe Trauma Recovery - She's a therapist with experience with mental illness (including PTSD) and her books contain much of the same therapy and education you get in a therapist's office - they're very well written, informative, accessible and gentle and if you can't afford buying you can get them from online or physical libraries.
And last but not least - seriously pursue therapy or other help if you're not doing so already! You should try googling "[country/city/county/state] (health condition/circumstance/demographic) (financial/medical/therapy) [aid/assistance/program/services/benefits/discount]" or similar to find help or guidance - there's a lot of help out there but a lot of it is just obscure and underadvertised.
Hi anon.
This is a really sweet gesture, so first of all, thank you. I think I know what post you were referring to that I made. I've been having insomnia and was venting my frustrations over it at 4 in the morning when I couldn't get back to sleep. Sometimes getting my negative thoughts out of my head and into the real world can help me calm down when I'm feeling overwhelmed. Usually I'll do this physically on paper but I was distracting myself with tumblr at the time. I'm sorry if this kind of post worried anyone - I'm okay.
That being said, I am currently seeing someone for mental wellness and have discussed things with a medical professional as well, so that's covered. You can't always tell how someone is doing just from what they post online. However, I think these links could also benefit others who might be struggling, or don't know where to start, so I'm publishing this here with some tags that may help others find them if anyone else is interested in checking them out.
I checked the content of the links, and it seems like a lot of helpful suggestions and opinions, but I would also encourage others to please be aware of who is publishing what online and to not take everything you see as solid medical advice, but more as a jumping off point before addressing concerns with a professional.

From the Jan. 18 Numismatic News E-Newsletter:
Would you prefer the bronze 1943 cent as a gift to the 1885 Trade dollar?
Here are some answers sent from our e-newsletter readers to Editor Dave Harper.
Having sold a 1943-P “BRONZE” Lincoln Head cent in MS-61 RB (PCGS) in December of 1999, I would rather own an additional example for a “gift” as opposed to an 1885 Trade Dollar even though only FIVE are known to exist.
The legendary 1943 “BRONZE” cent has been ever so popular, advertised for decades in comic books, magazines and periodicals since its inception. Countless school children and hopeful adults have continuously gone through their pocket change, tenaciously searching innumerable bank rolls (even to this very day) as they dream of finding such a numismatic prize that has eluded all but a fortuitous few.
The “BRONZE” 1943-P piece I mention above had the distinction of being the very first small cent to ever sell in excess of $100,000.00, a world record at the time! The current confirmed record for a “BRONZE” 1943-dated Lincoln cent is the lone esoteric Denver-minted piece, graded MS-64 BN (PCGS), which sold for $1.7 million in 2010
Another memorable small cent sale includes the esoteric 1958-P Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln cent in PCGS MS-64 RD, which brought a whopping $336,000.00 in 2018! For the record, that very same coin was initially sold by me in the 1990s, and it was the first one ever attributed and graded by third-party graders. Its sale price then was a respectable $25,025, and I later liquidated it for the owner on Sept. 5, 2000, for a record $57,500.00!
Only THREE 1958-P DDO-1 cents have thus far been discovered, two less than the iconic 1885 Trade Dollar, of which an NGC-graded PR-66 (the finest-known example) just recently sold at auction for a record $3.96 million!
Though certainly a legitimate, exciting rarity in its own right, the enigmatic 1885 Trade Dollar has not received such ongoing respect and publicity as generated by 1943 “BRONZE” cents.
Sam Lukes Visalia, Calif.
For myself, a Trade dollar may be preferable. As for the 1943 bronze cent, more rare to pose for collecting. At least I can “type” it better, for sure.
Gary Kess Sherman, Texas
I would take the cent myself…
Wesley Ellis Portland, Ore.
Both the 1943 cent and 1885 Trade $1 are wonderful, remarkable coins. But if I could have one, I’d pick the 1943 copper cent. It has a better history and is more interesting.
Ginger Rapsus Chicago, Ill.
Although the 1885 Trade dollar is the more visually impressive coin, its origin, like the 1913 Liberty Nickel, is spurious. I would prefer the 1943 cent, a mint error that is both legitimate and iconic.
Martin Mettee Ellicott City, Md.
From a purely financial perspective, the 1885 Trade dollar would be anyone’s choice. The 2019 “Red Book” shows the Trade dollar within the Top 250 Auction Prices realized. The 1943 Bronze Cent doesn’t crack the 250 list.
Of course, the US Mint shows no record of the 1884 or 1885 Trade dollar having been produced. It does, though, admit the bronze cent made it out to the public.
I’d personally prefer the #1 ranked 1794 dollar at $ 10,016,875
Steve McGowan Algonac, Mich.
