Hey, a little while ago, you reblogged that post about AI learning when people insert fics into AI text generators, and I wanted to offer good news and bad news: the good news is that AI learning models mostly don’t work like this. The publicly accessible text generator isn’t the whole learning model, it’s a single machine that the learning model generated. It won’t get fed directly back into the AI.

The BAD news is that there’s not really anything stopping them from saving that information separately to use later, and (much worse) anything that’s publicly available has probably already been scraped and saved. The good-in-this-context-but-depressing-overall news is that these models operate on the scale of billions of words, so, like. Idk. Individual fics ending up in a database mostly isn’t going to matter. That’s part of why the data-scraping isn’t something devs think about, ethically. This info is a paraphrase of another post I’ve seen going around saying the same thing, but I can personally corroborate it; before AI was a “crypto people hate when artists can earn a living” thing, I took some college courses on it and followed blogs about AI stuff for years. The last year or two of AI news has been really shitty :P It’s been really cool to me for a long time, but it is now clear that it’s even-more-vulnerable-than-usual to “capitalism uses every tool for oppression first” Knowing how it works is exhausting because anti-AI people are sometimes not all that much more accurate about how it actually works than the fervently pro-AI “I think chat-gpt is a person and human-generated art is dead” people, and then both of them skip talking about the more concrete problems like the “chat-gpt is propped up by slave labor” stuff.

I really appreciated this series of asks and wanted to make it available for all!

I think what we run into here is where like. A rhetorical device to invoke a sense of stakes and a bit of a guilt trip ("this is plagiarism because it feeds the AI" and its many permutations) can run up against misinformation (it's not literally becoming part of the AI's knowledge base, though as you noted it certainly COULD.) Because like

Where that post was coming from was someone being like "but why shouldn't I do this?" and the answerer resorting to "because it takes my work away from me" and this is still true in like, the rules of community and creativity if not necessarily in the hard lines of code. it's harder to articulate "this makes me uncomfortable because it's violated my ineffable sense of mutual belonging with and ownership of my own work, which I already felt on shaky ground on because it's fanwork but still FEEL with my WHOLE HEART" than it is to say "this concretely makes my words fuel for the machine" which I think people grok as a more sort of understandable breach of that social contract.

Which is why I like this post a lot because it gets at the WHY of why this is so perturbing and violating and isolating

Fandom was never meant to be a solo endeavor! when I write fic and put it out into the world, it's like echolocation. the words I put out are only half of what gives it shape and meaning to me-- the other half is the sound of it reverberating back to me as it bounces off the people it hits by way of comments, tags in reblogs, and DMs and they tell me their reactions and interpretations. that's what makes it a complete picture and not just screaming into the void.

to be removed from that process at all is a heartbreak to me; to have my words taken without my consent is insulting and misses the point and just. ultimately makes all of us that much more alone. which is to say that it's factually correct to say individual fics ending up in a database won't matter because it's probably already been scraped anyway because that's true for the AI and for the data. but individual fics DO matter insofar as like, these are choices people are making about what this hobby is and means and why they like it and what they think it's for and how they enjoy it, on a communal and social level, and THAT matters to me a great deal, in the same way that like, people now might end up getting videoed for a tiktok without their consent or whatever. it's about the erosion of privacy and respect.

but also yeah ChatGPT also runs thanks to exploited and underpaid workers, consumes horrific amounts of water in a time of increasing drought crisis and emits tons of carbon to boot.

Good morning to all you people out there in the world!

We are Laura and Solaria (you can call me Sol, i don't mind), and we are a retired couple from the sunny region of Alola! We both know we are old, you don't have to tell us! But in case you're wondering, we are both women and use she/her pronouns.

Now, let me tell you what is going on and why some old hags have infiltrated the youthful internet:

Laura has recently made the decision that she wants to become a trainer! She never had the opportunity during her childhood, and we don't get any younger, so we decided to just go and visit other regions and get to learn more about the world!

We do however already have two Pokémon:

Hugo, our very dear Drampa. He is sort of a Service Pokémon that we can ride when our legs don't want to carry us anymore, but he's not officially registered and more of a pet.

Galois, a very cute little Porygon that has been included with this Poryphone i bought. It has already been very helpful with explaining this device.

Oh by the way, this blog will be run by me, Sol. Laura has some troubles with these electronic devices.

So I know I just dropped a WeSam fic over the weekend, but I got inspired to write a Wes x Fem!Reader Smutty/Domestic Bliss one-shot fic so I just needed to get the fic outta my head and on a word doc asap (lol). Hence, why I'm dropping another fic so soon than what's normal for me.

It's been a hot minute since I wrote my last Wes x Fem!Reader smut fic, and frankly I just didn't have another plot idea inspire me or some sort of muse to work off of for this kind of fic style, until now.

I have a hard time writing x reader type stories, only because I would like for the story to appeal to more than just me, and it's harder to do so (well at least it is for me) when I'm writing the "Reader" as a generalized person. And I don't love including the whole "Y/N" stuff into my own x Reader fics (which I know is a popular thing for this genre) because it just throws me off sometimes while reading it (idk if other people feel the same way. maybe it's just me). Maybe one day I'll play around with that aspect and use the "Y/N" google chrome fic extension to help with the flow of the story. So with that being said, as in my last x Reader fic ("Show Me How You Do it" which can be found on AO3 as well as this fic and all my other fics), expect a lot of the use of the pet name "babe/baby" (you👏🏻have👏🏻been👏🏻warned👏🏻).

Also, I want to practice more of my x Reader skills in the near feature. I have some Fred x Fem!Reader and Sam x Fem!Reader fic ideas that I'd like to write soon, so hopefully I can get those out for anyone that may be interested in those two handsome hunks.

For my WeSam (Wes x Sam) enjoyers, don't worry, I still have more ideas for those two down the pipeline. So fear not, I'm not abandoning those two cuties at all. Just wanted to work on my x Reader skills just a bit more is all.

I don't post rambling text posts all too often on this blog (other than my ramblings in the tags), so I apologize if this seems odd for my blog. I just wanted to preface why I'm releasing another fic so soon, and why it's different from my usual RPF-Shipping works. So yeah, there's that.

So! I think I've figured out how to tag both the leosagi and leochi ships.

Since this is mainly a BLOG and not just a random social media page, it will be easier for me to organize the tags as if this were a more traditional blogging site. So I will be trying to keep the tags as few and as relevant as possible.

I'll be mainly using YuiNardo / yuinardo from now on for just the Yuichi Usagi/rottmnt Leo ship, and stuff like my own fanart. it's specifically "show x show" for me (Yuichi x Nardo, bc those are their unique names in their respective shows xD) and not some of the fan OC stuff

leosagi for the general 2003 Miyamoto Usagi/Leonardo ship but maybe also i.e. crossovers where ppl draw all the versions?

katanashipping also for 2003 leosagi? like I guess I'll decide based on how specific it gets (edit 1.05.23) definitely about 2003 leosagi, since that's where it originated from

I'll use 2003 leosagi when it gets more specific i.e. fanfic recs or longform comics which I wanna find later

Rise Leosagi for the 2018 versions that people have made their own, based on the Miyamoto/Leo ship (lol this might be difficult to retag, cuz I'm not sure what I've tagged with what anymore)

I probably won’t use the longer names like Yuichi x Leo, Miyamoto x Leonardo etc just bc I find it tedious to use that many spaces in tags when tagging can be sorta annoying to do on mobile and then fix later on PC. I’m more of a “tag and go” kind of person and I like my tags to be easy to write.

like im sorry I write so much (I don't enjoy writing lenghty things) but i legit need to tag like an oldschool blog occasionally bc I ENJOY finding stuff on my own blog later. it just makes sense! it is so confusing going thru multiple tags for the same thing when it could have a singular tag. or a single new tag for a specific use. and I've forgotten to do that after using social media so much for so long lol

anyway this isn't that important i am just chillin and remembered that I thought of this and needed to post it so I wouldn't forget.

Thinking of that, I guess the tag clogging starts to make sense, considering how much people are more used to the "tag clouds" popularized by twitter and instagram and social-media-like sites before those (the sites inbetween blogging and web 2.0, maybe, but didn't really use those as much so I don't remember either) + the confusion about what the og leosagi was (+ maybe general tmnt fandom confusion over various versions of media for the franchise)

lol it's gonna take a bit long but I'll reorganize the blog more once I have a bit of time on the side from other stuff. now it feels nice that this blog isn't actually that big yet. I don't use sideblogs very long usually and it's my first time actually making anything TMNT related for this long, so it'll be interesting seeing where this blog will go in general. like how it's probably been subtle that while this userhandle/blog started as a tMNT sideblog, I actually have started blogging more about Usagi Chronicles now bc I like the show. and idk what else I'll post if I have time but I will probs keep it as a reblog blog anyways!

I try not to write long blog posts on tumblr anymore but I think the whole "leosagi-leochi tag clogging" point brought up in the "Why do we ship leosagi" video is also just a good point abt how we don't really treat blogs like blogs anymore. every sort of behaviour online has become so influenced by the want to make it trend or have it at least be read at all ("social media" aspect of online behavior now) that even stuff like ao3, a fanfic site, will have tags like "AO3 algothithm, PLEASE be nice to me" when sites like that don't even HAVE algorhithms. it's interesting to think about but also a bit sad on the side because that "tag clouding" does seem to be the only way for some works to become noticed on the above-mentioned actual social media sites. this almost makes me miss sites like deviantart and blogger because things always felt more centralized and easy to find vs twitter, insta or occasionally even tumblr.

Don’t buy a blog theme, look up one you like, plenty of sites have them. Some tumblr blogs have them! Googling “tumblr theme” gets you where you wanna go

In your blog customization settings, it lets you add pages and links! On mobile, though, you can’t see these, so linking them in your bio as well helps more people see the links

The post limit is 200 or 250 a day, usually I never reach it but the site doesn’t really tell you, just doesn’t let you post after that

Queue is your friend!! You can schedule posts, schedule what time you want your posts to happen (i.e. posting 3 times a day at prime time or 50 posts a day all day, etc) and it lets you batch upload art without spamming or it getting lost in a sea of your own posts, xkit has an extension that lets you auto tag your queued posts, some people have cutesy pun ones, mine is just the letter #q

Readmore is good! The text limit is Not Twitter, you can post fics here if you want without adding screenshots! You can add a setting wheres you can have long posts shortened (other people have to have this enabled for it to shorten your post), but it’s common courtesy to put fics in readmores after, like, a paragraph or so, or a description

Please use tags! And filtering! Under Settings > general > content you see, you can block key words and tags. Tags have to be Exact! Keywords should filter any post with that word or phrase, so when tagging your own content warnings, please don’t use // at the end, it makes it harder for people to filter!

Ex: #tw: blood// #blood/// #blood tw// #bl0od/

Ex: #blood / #tw blood / #blood tw

And if you don’t want to see certain content, varying what you put in filtering helps. Because some people just tag the tw and some people add tw before or after, helps to add variation so nothing slips through!

First 5 tags are what show up in the search, feel free to talk in the tags! But have the first few tags what u actually want people to look up to find your post!

AN IMPORTANT NOTE: unless this changed and I wasn’t aware, I’m pretty sure if you have a link AT ALL in your post, it gets hidden from the tag search. Still shows up on your blog but the audience is not as wide— you can reblog your own post again and add links after the original post, or ask in the post to check the notes for the link. Shadowbanning accounts isn’t a thing here but posts can get shadowbanned kinda

Also adding “mutual aid” or “donations” to a help post shadow bans it, please don’t do that when making or reblogging a help post

You can go through tags! So you can make tags for your art, comics, characters, etc and sort them that way on your own blog, it’s super helpful! No like, idk, twitter collection needed

My talking tags are #amber talks for examples and my art is #my art, I can go through all of these whenever I want!

Give yourself an icon, and post like, something, anything. A lot of people (myself included) scope out new followers to make sure they’re not bots, and if I see an empty blog and no icon, I usually block, on the other side, if YOU see this, probably block

Block porn bots. They follow you to make their accounts seem more legitimate; following real users makes their accounts not look as botty, and might attract other bots to your blog as well, and speaking of them, don’t click their links lol, they’re either viruses, scams, or phishing scams, in general be careful of links, especially if it has an offer or it’s from someone you don’t know asking you to “test out their game”. You can get hacked and then your post will spit out spam for a while and possibly deleted from staff. Even if it’s from someone you know, check to make sure their account wasn’t hacked, especially if it’s an offer or deal or Raycon Sunglasses

Lots of people have main blogs and art blogs, but some people post art on main, or you can have an art blog and always reblog your art to your art blog/main blog; double dipping isn’t discouraged

You can reblog something as many times as you want, there’s no “you’ve tweeted this before” alert, old posts make the rounds again and you can reblog your art for morning or afternoon crowds so more of your followers see it, self reblogs are common!

This is the first time I've rlly heard about Riku since I followed you, what's his deal? :0 would you mind telling me a little bit about him?

HELLO THERE YES ABSOLUTELY I WILL TELL YOU ALL ABOUT MY BOY!!!!

Ok so this is the first ask I ever answered about him and it is a semi good summary of his plot but a lot has happened since then (it was over a year ago) so I'll go over it again here for convenience. This predictably got long af so it's under a read more.

Also if you want any more random bits of info you can find it by searching for "riku kirijo" on my blog (or on Tumblr itself he has his own tag 💀)! I make random little fact posts about him so there's more info in those. You'll also probably find my older art for him for his previous design, but the last art piece I did is his design as of now and probably won't be changed cause I'm super happy with it. Also if you look under "oc tag" or "au tag" I tag some random posts with those if I think they fit the au (it's usually silly jokes and stuff).

Basically Riku is my Persona 5 OC and he's the eldest (and only) son of Yukari and Mitsuru from P3 (I'm sure you know by now I'm a massive Yukamitsu fan but if not now you do 💀). Now obvs there's not enough of a time gap in canon for this to be possible so the gap in this AU is about 30 years, I haven't worked that part out yet. He also has one sister (Yuna).

Riku's story starts really about two years before the events of P5 (btw I mean Royal but I'm just gonna refer to it as P5 cause I'm lazy). Basically he was feeling very lonely, had a hard time making friends and felt he needed to step out of his moms shadows. So he decides to move to Tokyo to get a chance to live out on his own and have a change of scenery. Because he's only 14/15 at the time he can't live on his own and for reasons I'll go into another time, his moms can't come with him. So enter Chiyoko Hatanaka, one of Mitsuru's high ranking staff who offers to become Riku's guardian of sorts while he's in Tokyo. Mitsuru agrees and Riku moves to Tokyo with her enrolling in Kosei High (he's in the same class as Yusuke and Hifumi).

However a few months after they moved, Hatanaka starts to drop her nice act and reveals her true colors and starts abusing Riku (both physically and mentally). I won't reveal the reason why as that's a huge spoiler and I plan on doing something with this story eventually. Riku doesn't tell anyone ofc because he's too scared (Hatanaka has some serious dirt on the Kirijo Group which she uses to blackmail him). So Mitsuru and Yukari have no idea this is happening but have noticed weird changes in his behavior whenever he comes home to visit.

Fast forward to just after Madarame's Palace and Yusuke mentions to the thieves that there's someone he'd like to look into - Hatanaka. He and Riku had this kind of mutual understanding of what was happening to them but never really acknowledged it (they didn't know how - I planning on going into more detail another time). The thieves agree after they see her name on the Phansite (anonymous request from Riku himself). At the TV station the shujin trio actually meet Riku (he's there because Yukari or Mitsuru are giving an interview idk yet). He introduces himself after telling some creep hitting on Ann to fuck off and he's very chatty and kind UNTIL Hatanaka shows up when he becomes super quiet. The thieves are like huh that's weird we should look into this chick for sure. So they do and ofc she has a Palace.

They start investigating and they find out her palace is at her and Riku's apartment (more of a penthouse) and the keyword is Studio. The palace is called "The Studio of Arrogance" and is modeled after a TV station. Riku accidentally gets dragged in and captured by Hatanaka's goons. The thieves find Hatanaka interrogating a chained up Riku where she reveals a few things (again spoilers) and torments him. He has enough, breaks free of his chains and then BOOM Persona time.

His persona is Pimpernel, the titular character in the book The Scarlet Pimpernel. He specializes in Physical and Aqua (Water element from P2) attacks and his best stat is speed (easily the fastest thief).

Riku and the thieves fight off against her goons, and escape to a safe room where they tell Riku everything. Riku also wants to change Hatanaka's heart so he teams up with the thieves with his code name being "Noble". I have a WIP of his phantom thief outfit and Pimpernel so I won't say much about the design for now (purple Flynn rider that's the best mini description I can give 💀)

After they've beaten Hatanaka's palace and changed her heart successfully the rest of the story is pretty much the same but with Riku in it. Mitsuru, Yukari and Yuna also play big roles because the three of them move to Tokyo to stay with Riku after they find out about the abuse. They each have their own background arc too but aside from Mitsuru I don't really have any ideas for them yet (even Mitsuru's is a concept idea).

Some people call me Yuna! But wait you may ask-? Isn’t one of your oc’s also named Yuna?

Yes! When I was first new to the ways of the net and fandom spaces- I frequently used the pseudonym Yuna or Sarah(after my fav FF characters)

Around the same time I was getting into original character creation!! Yuna(the oc) first started out as a sort of self insert for myself to place myself in my favorite media. Over the years, Yuna became their own character/person and is very far removed from me now- (of course they do have some similarities as most creators tend to pull from their experiences to flesh out their characters and stories) but TLDR

Hey, I’m not saying this to be rude cause your content is great! But when people are scrolling the Viktor x reader tag, your nsfw 18+ post of your Viktor cosplay wearing lacy underwear is not hidden behind a keep reading tab so anyone who is scrolling, including minors, are seeing that without having time to either not look at it at all, or scroll away. Not saying this to be a hater, just thought you should know.

okay i guess i need people's feedback on that then because that wasn't something i was aware i had to / was supposed to do. i've never seen anyone else do it. i understand because it is suggestive content and it's out there in hashtags and search results, though there is also drawings of uncensored nsft art in the same tag and i've not seen anyone send asks to fanartists doing that. if you go in the viktor or jayvik tag on twitter its so much uncensored graphic n-sfw art. my stuff doesn't have any genitalia in it, but yes i only want people 18+ to interact with it. i tag things for people who follow me and are 18+ and want to see the viktor content, makes it easier for them to search through my blog. i do tag with nsft tags so if people have them blacklisted it wouldn't show up for them. i completely understand your point and it's honestly not something i even thought about because half the time my posts don't show up in tags anyway because tumblr just blocks them. i understand there's a difference between a nsft fic being in the tag and images/gifs. i certainly don't want the arcane fandom or arcane hashtags to become uncomfortable for anyone because my content is in there and they don't want to see it. i don't really understand the example of a keep reading tag because you can't use that with image posts? but i take your point. i suppose i also didn't think because all my arcane n-sfw writing and audio posts are under the same hashtag and i kept using them without thinking, thinking that well there's full on naked sex art in the tag so my fully clothed but just a little suggestive might not be a problem. if i had been in anyway nude or engaging in sexual acts i would not have tagged them with fandom tags for sure. i guess i didn't about it because they're much more like boudoir photos and aren't actual p*rn . i think they'll always be a problem of more adult themed content being in general tags. maybe if we all agreed to use #arane-nsft or something idk. other fandoms like undertale have had their own unique nsft tags because there were a lot of children in that fandom and people didn't want 18+ drawings and fanfic to show in it so they tagged it #undertail instead.

i've deleted the hashtags from the post. it may still show up under some searches because sometimes tumblr detects the words in the text body of the post and not just the words used in the hashtags. in future then would everyone prefer when it's cosplay photos for me to post them as text posts with a description of what photos are underneath the cut and then it's up to you to open the post? you can't have more than one image/gif in a row in text posts so might break the usual formatting a little, but then it would be sort of censored in a way?

yes! first of all, for your basic 101 type reading, i'd look to the late, great mel baggs -- hir blogs are full of basic info that everyone can understand, and which will prepare you really well as you look to engaging with more challenging readings:

for a foundational understanding of transness&disability&trauma + the concept of pathologization. then, i'd move toward readings –– highly critical ones!! –– from psychiatric p/c/s/x (patients/consumers/survivors/ex-patients), particularly from The Icarus Project, Mad in America, and this specific post about the "burrito test."

Read, of course, Madness and Civilization. Seriously. You have to read it.

Read Epistemic Injustice by Miranda Fricker. Epistemic Injustice is the foundational & formational mark left by/responsible for producing "Madness" and "patienthood."

From here I'd recommend some more titles such as the Mad Matters reader by LeFrançois, Menzies, and Reaume (this is the citation I use when "defining" Mad studies/a Mad studies approach/conceptual framework) Psychiatric Hegemony by Bruce Cohen, Black Madness :: Mad Blackness by Theri Alyce Pickens, Crip Theory by Robert McRuer, Mad At School by Margaret Price, The Protest Psychosis by Jonathan M. Metzl, Containing Madness by Kilty & Dej, and Enforcing Normalcy: Disability, Deafness, and the Body by Lennard J Davis.

you'll notice a lot of these are focused on disability "rather than" Madness -- Mad studies is a comparatively small (sub-)field. you'll need to keyword search within other resources to find a lot of this work. start out with disability studies quarterly, searching Madness, etc. there's also some intriguing work going on in the area narrative studies, esp. with regard to Mad experimental autobiography.

There's also *TONS* of new, exciting thesis work happening by and for and from Madpeople!! and members of otherwise psychopathologized groups! one i'd love to highlight is a 2017 paper on the pathologization of indigenous youth -- it's phenomenal.

these works can be found at "the usual sources," as it were. if you need help accessing pdfs/epubs, please message me with your email address and i can get it to you. if you find some scholarly journal article, etc. you need access to but lack an institutional login, please contact me and i will get it to you as soon as i can, with a potential slight delay as i'd need to request it from my college library.

Sorry for being so negative these last few weeks (if anyone reads my tags it shows…) but idk, this is my blog, so I do what I want. Anyway, this is just a very long vent post and I’ll put it under a cut anyway if anybody wants to read it.

Okay, so I moved to France almost exactly four weeks ago and ever since then it’s been nothing but problems. I chose this bachelor degree very well knowing that I’d move to another country and that’s also what I wanted! Which is great, I always wanted to spend some time of my university experience in a foreign country and especially in France if there was a possibility to do so.

Since I’m the very first German to join this programme, I’m kind of the guinea pig for everything but I knew that beforehand as well. I think I’m more of a guinea pig for the German side, though since for my university in Germany it’s their first time offering a programme like this. To quickly explain, you start in your home country and then move to the foreign country for a while until you return and then receive your diploma of two universities. Sounds neat and all if things actually worked but they don’t really as it turns out…

Anyway, I thought everything would’ve been cleared up - or at least most of the things - before my arrival but that wasn’t the case. I got zero information on how this whole system works here and it’s very different than in Germany + there’s the obvious language barrier that I have. That’s not surprising, most things get solved within the first two weeks or so but the person who’s supposed to be my contact person is known for not answering very fast and sorting things out and that’s basically what my first four weeks have been so far; trying to navigate everything in a foreign country, a foreign language and solving organizational things which for some reason are left to myself.

Basically, I get told that people are going to do it for me and talk to others to get things going but then they just don’t and I’m faced with not knowing what to do since I won’t receive any answers to my mails. (Also when somebody tells you that you’re able to visit them on a certain day of the week for 15 minutes it’s kind of saying a lot on how much time they have for you… Nevermind that I don’t even have time on that day but in their defense I forgot to mention that, since that conversation only lasted 5 minutes)

Getting registered at the uni here was enough of a hassle but it finally worked. Then when I thought I had my courses there’s still another problem left and since the system in France isn’t as flexible as in Germany that just creates more problems the more time goes on. So in summary, week one to three of September were spent trying to figure out my schedule + my registration and while I thought I’d finally be done with that, there’s still one thing missing and it’s currently my fourth week here.

I was prepared to face problems like the language barrier, a different university system, being on my own because I’m the only German here but I wasn’t prepared to deal with organizational stuff on my own because nobody’s really helping me. My biggest help so far have been my fellow students and my tutor but even those don’t really know how to properly help me most of the time and I’ve never heard back from my contact person about my schedule here. I understand that professors are busy and all but lending a helping hand when a new student arrives would be nice. Again, they mentioned that if I don’t hear back from them it’s usually a good sign and if I didn’t hear back until a certain day, it’d be fine but it was hard telling that to the people who handled my registration.

The problem that's left now is about an essay I have to write and I was told I should do it in the course from year three which isn’t possible anymore as I found out today. The prof can’t let me do this in his course because I’d be too much, which is understandable since he already had to reject others weeks ago and it’d be really rude to the other students if he accepted an essay from somebody who’s three weeks late. The prof who’s my contact person here told me two weeks ago that I should send him my schedule and he’d talk to his colleagues and sort things out because I couldn’t register in the first week of September before courses started since there were problems with my registration.

If I had had the information beforehand on how to do my schedule and had received my password earlier, this problem wouldn’t exist. But since nobody prepared me for that and told me, I’m now sitting here still trying to somehow solve this weeks after the semester here started and it sucks to be the one trying to do that when it isn’t really my task. Right when I thought that everything was solved, I’m faced with yet another problem and the stress just keeps going and hasn’t stopped ever since I moved here. And while I’d understand that there were so many problems with a new programme, I’m less understanding if there was a previous programme just like this one but with another different city in Germany. Same contact person here but it seems like they’re doing it for the very first time and that shouldn’t be the case at all. I’ve also learnt (and experienced for that matter) that other profs aren’t very fond of him and know what it’s like to try and sort things out but I’m not involved in that beef and yet I still kind of am without wanting to.

As I mentioned before, it only gets harder as time goes on and to be frank, I’m sick of it. I don’t know when I’ll reach the end of rope but I’m always telling myself if I absolutely can’t take it anymore I’ll return to Germany or just take a break for a year before I try again. I’m not sure if this is even a possibility but it’s driving me nuts and I don’t even think about enjoying my time here. It’s been nothing but a struggle and if I had to summarize September so far, it’s basically been a hardcore “try not to cry once a week challenge” which I’m failing miserably at this point. It’s so frustrating for me to sort all of this out while I can’t even use my native language and I’m not that familiar with the system here to begin with.

It got to the point that I can’t even have a normal conversation with a prof about organizational stuff without my voice cracking and me just wanting to start crying on the spot because I’m so frustrated and stressed. If anybody asks me on how things are, I really have to hold back as well. Sometimes I sit in the lectures and my thoughts drift off to all these unsolved problems and I have a hard time keeping my composure. Thankfully everybody here has to wear a mask at all times, so that at least can hide it somewhere but I wouldn’t be surprised if I just left a lecture because I was feeling like shit.

I’ve told my parents about my problems and today my Dad asked me if he should still order the book that I asked him to because even he was unsure if I’d continue this or not. And while I told him yes, that’s also just a testimony on how bad things are right now. It’s also cool that my contact person told me that everybody who organizes this programme is concerned about a person’s well-being and their mental health but I’m far from feeling well. I was prepared for a lot of things, as well as feeling somewhat lonely which I surprisingly don’t but I wasn’t prepared for all this organizational bullshit and not really having anybody here that can help me with it.

tl;dr I’m so tired and exhausted of everything and even if I still want to at least try and get this bachelor degree, I don’t know for how long I’ll continue trying if things aren’t solved soon.

I DID ANOTHER ONE I AM ON FIRE WOW.

This time, however, no weapons. Well, I guess weapons against dust and rust and damages done to the ship? These are Cleo’s SpiderBots! I read of the concepts in one of @martuzzio ‘s asks and I just. It was mine. I wanted to design it.

Now, as always, these designs are for the Space Outlaws AU by Marzo. So idk, you can use it for stuff and headcanons if you like, but please do tag and credit me!

Now let’s get on with it ;3

SpiderBot Functionality

These bots were designed by Cleo herself to help out around the ship with repairs, cleaning and who knows, they could probably help Beef in the kitchen. They are designed to be able to get around basically anywhere and in any conditions. For this reason they are occasionally used as scouter bots, though those types are usually smaller than the main ones. There are sensors on the bot’s “head” that pick up signals sent from the control device (more on the Crown later) and then these send the signal to the main body of the spider where it is quickly processed and sent to the corresponding limbs, similar to how the brain works. The bots get their power from high-tech energy capsules (referred to as batteries in the diagram), and the bulk of the processing technology for commands is underneath the battery capsule in the abdomen and inside the main body. There is also a small coil of wire that functions as a safety rope for spiderbots to drop from the ceiling, and also to latch onto metal surfaces using a magnet, and other surfaces with the suction cup on top of the magnet. More specific info on how grappling hooks work can be found in the shock collar grappling hook gun (wow a mouthful) that I designed for Ren The Control Crown

This crown is VERY high technology here. It reads and processes brainwaves, encoding clear commands and broadcasting the signal in a special code only the spiderbots can unscramble and act upon. These brainwave encoding devices are VERY sensitive to variations in the command, and so one must think the command as hard as they possibly can. The Crown is engineered to only pick up loud thoughts, so if Cleo was in danger and her brain sent out a distress call, the spiderbots would automatically come to her aid. This also sets the problem that the command has to be clear and purposeful. However, it was the best course of action in order to avoid every thought being processed by the bots, which would be a catastrophe. When the crown is not attached to the forehead, then the bots default to their basic code, which is to patrol the ship and search for irregularities and damages done to the ship. They can withstand all conditions, and some can even be found crawling along the outside of the ship in search for damages to the hull.

Extra Notes:

- The bots DO have their own will of sorts. Their default code is still what they will follow because it is their purpose, but they do have the ability to help one another and can occasionally be seen just hanging around when they don’t have anything to do. Essentially, they do what they were made to do, but they do infact have the ability to ignore this code for something more important, say one of their fellows is injured, or one of the Hermits seems to be in trouble. They are, however, perfectly happy to be the cleaning and maintenance crew, and the Hermits like to give them a helpful hand in reaching tight spaces or tricky ledges.

- To be clear, they do not have concrete emotions. They can recognize emotions, but they themselves aren't, how do I put it. They aren’t exactly alive. They have a sense of care for the Hermits, and as the Hermits help them do their job, they help the Hermits with their “job”. So yes they can respond to a panicked call for help or if one if their fellows gets in a sticky situation.

- Jevin cannot, in fact, digest them if he absorbs them. The metal they are made of is highly durable and around the same quality of that which contains the end crystal engines, so it can resist extreme temperatures, energy waves, plasma and, well, digestive slime. So they do occasionally hitch a ride. Jevin claims it tickles, as the spiderbots like to try and swim around in his body by flailing their little legs.

- They come in two different sizes, the maintenance and the scout bots. There are more maintenance bots (around 10-15 no one is really sure other than Cleo herself), while there are only around 3-5 of the scout bots. Their original purpose was not for scouting, but Cleo made some extra small ones as an experiment and realized they would make great little spies or scouts.

Now THIS ONE was definitely a very long one, as the technology in moving and active and technically thinking metal spider like creatures is very different from load pull trigger pew pew but kinda cool guns. It’s very different and this was QUITE a bit harder to figure out as well.

AHHHH EDIT EDIT EDIT: I FORGOT TO MENTION SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT OOPSIES. The scout bots are hooked up to cameras inside Cleo’s visor so she can see where they go. They do not talk. it’s a dark brown so dark it’s almost black around my roots but a lighter brown for the rest bc i dyed it ^^ i plan to redye it a reddish brown soon tho !

something jacob mentioned once i forget his exact wording but i have a lot of patience actually so rather than being angry it’s a bit more frustration, mostly at myself when smth i worked on really hard doesn’t work out, but also bc i constantly overthink and consider other people’s feelings it upsets me when other people are dismissive or plainly ignorant of the feelings of those around them... and also esp when people are unaware of how to deal with their own negative feelings so they take it out on others when they shouldn’t

My Favorite Cats Ships

Okie dokie, @whitmerule wanted to know my main ships/pairings and I knew I’d have to make a post dedicated to this at some point so here it is lol (also sorry this is so long). My “main” universe, which is what all of my main pairings are in, is based on the ‘98 film for the most part (although really all of my universes are based on the ‘98 film, just with alterations here and there).

Edit: My preferences have changed somewhat, so I’ve edited this list to reflect my current feelings towards certain pairings. This means that I’ve deleted some pairings that I don’t like much anymore, and have added some new ones :). All of these ships are in no particular order btw.

Main Pairings:

Tuggoffelees

-I know it’s super popular and there’s loads of content on them, but I still stan. I don’t love them AS much as I used to, but they were my first ship in this fandom, and therefore are still very important to me.

Demebombastrap

-In terms of individual pairings, I really like Demelurina and Bombastrap on their own, but I like them best all together. I used to be quite fond of Demestrap by itself, but I’ve gotten pretty tired of that ship over time personally (obviously nothing against people who like this pairing a lot, kudos to y’all who love Demestrap ^^), so I’m not that big a fan of them on their own anymore. In order of the individual pairings I like best: Demelurina first, Bombastrap second, and Demestrap not so much.

Skimblegus (Skimbleshanks/Asparagus Jr., NOT Gus the theatre cat, I see the two of them as separate characters in most productions).

Jellydots (Sweet lesbian grandmas <3).

Tumblejem

-This is my self-projection asexual pairing, leave me alone lol. They give me bestie vibes and I love that for them <3.

Platoriateazer

-This is a bit of a rarepair, but it is one of my main ships, I see Teazer and Plato as platonic partners and Tori as their mutual gf. Alternatively, I like Victeazer and Platoria on their own as well, although I like Victeazer a bit more than Platoria, but I prefer them all together.

And that’s about it for my “main” pairings, here’s a list of my alternate pairings/rarepairs that I love too much for my own good.

Alternate Pairings/Rarepairs:

Demandra

-No longer my main blog’s url, but they have their own blog now and therefore are still ridiculously important to me XD. This is my fave rarepair, and might also be even MORE of a self-projection asexual pairing for me than they were before. I’ll say it once, this is my ultimate comfort pairing.

Plonzostrap (Plato/Alonzo/Munkustrap, alternatively, I like Alonzostrap and Plonzo on their own as well, although I haven’t put that much thought into Munklato on its own).

Platoricopat (Cats Zurich got me obsessed with this concept, and @whitmerule’s gifs are are just *chef’s kiss*).

George/Etcetera/Electra

-I don’t really have a ship name for this, and also this particular pairing is very complicated and I’ll try to explain it as best I can. George and Etcetera are romantic partners, Etcetera and Electra are queer-platonic partners (I see Electra as aromantic), and George and Electra are platonic partners. This is technically a main pairing for me, but it’s sort of rare and complicated in its dynamics so I put it down here. Also, I adopted the hc that George is a Pollicle btw.

Oh and just as an aside, I also really like Elecctera and Etceorge on their own, but I probably slightly prefer Elecctera, I just love the queer-platonic besties vibes of them <3.

Mungocavity (This is in a scenario where Macavity is less evil and more of a dumbass, but I really like this pairing. It would be one of my main pairings if my main universe Macavity wasn’t complete shit).

Jemtoria

-One of my newer ships, I usually see Tori and Jem as being somewhat far apart in age, so this is in a scenario where Jem’s a bit aged up and Tori’s a bit aged down. I love everything about this pairing. Considering how much Jem and Tori interact with each other in the show, this ship has so much potential to me. They’re just so soft and they make me really happy <3.

Tuggoffeleteazer

-Once upon time I didn’t think I’d ever ship Tugger or Misto with really anyone but each other, but times change. Initially, I got very interested in the idea of Rumpletugger (which I still quite like on it’s own), but then later became intrigued by the idea of Mistoteazer (and all the shenanigans they’d get up to, both being mischievous and chaotic), so of course this led to me just putting all three of them together XD. I love this trio so much, they just give “bestie vibes ONLY” type of energy, and feel like a super chaotic friend group, and that makes me really happy.

Bombbella

-I’m not even sure how to explain what led me to becoming so attached to this ship XD. I had seen people mention it being a neat concept in passing, but I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who actually truly ships them. I basically got into this ship through my “Jellicle leader Griz” au thing, which is an au where Griz is the oldest of Deuteronomy’s children and was expected to become the next Jellicle leader. She’s much younger in this au than how I typically see her, so the newer Griz design fits well in this scenario. I just got really into the idea of Griz and Bomba being tragic ex-lovers.

They dated for a long time in their teens, broke up for a few years, and then got back together again when they had matured, and then Griz went and abandoned the tribe (as well as Bomba) to see the world and pursue her dream of being a star. Griz returned eventually, but the damage had been done, and Bomba was far from ready to forgive her. In the end though, she does forgive Griz, as does everyone else, but then Griz goes on to be reborn, and they miss their chance at happily being together. It’s just all in all a really fun concept for me to play around with, and has so much angst potential.

Jellycass

-Not a new ship, quite the opposite actually. This is a ship that I usually don’t think much about (hence why it wasn’t here when I first made this list), but whenever I do, I always feel at peace inside lol. I can’t for the life of me find the post that got me into this ship (trust me, I have searched ALL over tumblr for it, I looked through both Jellylorum’s and Cassandra’s ENTIRE tags and still couldn’t find it), but I saw a post when I was first getting into the Cats fandom that talked about how Jelly and Cass would be this sort of “odd couple” that the tribe didn’t really understand, but clicked super well with each other for some reason.

Even though I only ever saw that one post on them for a long time, I grew really attached to the ideas it presented for Jellycass. I like the age gap concept in particular, with my personal idea of it being Cass in her late twenties to early thirties, and Jelly being in her late thirties to early forties. It really heightens the “odd couple” energy of them, and I can see Cass getting along really well with someone older. Troika provides me all the rights for this ship <3.

Some Extra Stuff:

Even though I like Platoria as an individual ship, and ship them to a degree, I’m not super interested in them. They’re a bit bland for me if I’m being honest. I like seeing them on my dash, but I won’t actively seek out content of them, so please don’t tag me in stuff surrounding them if you don’t mind (obviously this doesn’t apply to their poly equivalent). I used to include Demestrap in this section, but now I’m really not all that fond of them, I really only like them together in a poly scenario, like Demebombastrap or even Demelonzostrap.

There’s a bunch of ships that I categorize as “I like it, but I don’t ship it,” and that’s where ships like Munkujerrie and Alonzoffelees fall. They’re ships that I enjoy as concepts, and that I would probably read fanfic about if given the opportunity (and like fanart of), but I don’t necessarily ship them. So you don’t need to tag me for them.

The only ships that I just straight up don’t like, although I have nothing against people who like them, are Tuggerlurina, Mistoria, Skimbledots, and Jellygus, Tuggerlurina being the one I dislike the most. I just scroll past content of them if I see it on my dash, I thought I should probably list them here cause idk, might be useful to @whitmerule to know which ships I really don’t like.

Note: I don’t see any of the characters I listed here as being biologically related, some people hc Deme and Bomba as sisters, or Etcetera and Electra as being twins, I don’t see this personally (In fact I have a whole bunch of family hcs that I’ll probably save for another post, if anyone even wants to read that lol).

And now for my favorite 2019 movie pairings (which I also don’t see any of them as being biologically related), because they’re sort of relevant since I’m listing pairings and stuff so I feel like putting them here too:

2019 Movie Main Pairings

Mistoriastraps

-This is the ONLY scenario where I like Misto and Tori together. I only like it when it’s in the 2019 movie, and only if it’s with Munk, those are my two requirements lol. I think Munktoria and Munkoffelees are really cute too, but I don’t care for them that much, I like them best all together.

Demandra (I see their relationship very differently in the movie, and I prefer their stage-show relationship, but as always, I love them).

Tantojerrie

-I know they don’t really interact in the movie, but I saw people talking about them as a ship on here, and I just think they’d be really cute. Technically Tanto is implied to be kitten age in the movie, but I imagine this as a post-movie, next Jellicle Ball type scenario. I see Tanto as being on the cusp of adulthood, where she’ll probably be an adult at the next Jellicle Ball, and I see Jerrie as being a very young adult, so they’re not far apart in my mind (plus I see Jellicles, being cats and all, aging differently than humans, so this isn’t as odd to me as it might be to other people).
