#i'm still to afraid of the main ship tag for things like this tbh
Text
1) You have no idea how excited I was when someone actually wanted to delve my AU list, and #16 is one I haven't really done any work on this one so I'm so happy to think more on it thank you so much @tinpotterror
2) au 16 is one I'm so excited to get a plot for I can't stress enough that I think this one is gonna be good I just don't have a main conflict yet but who knows maybe this post will brew it, I do some great thinking while typing shit
SO AU 16 is a hospital au
which yes yes I know
but I need you to imagine, to come along for the ride with me.
It's an emergency room, because it always is, that's how these things always go, and ben solo is nearing the end of his residency. four years of undergrad, four years of medical school, and he's ready to be a fully fledged doctor. It's all he's wanted for fuckin YEARS, and he's almost there.
But charge nurse Armitage Hux continues to be a pain in his ass. All he has are complaints; the way Ben charts, his patient demeanor, hell, he even questions the dosage on meds, sometimes. (And he's often right, though Ben will never admit it. 50mg ˆwouldˆ have killed that patient, he did mean 5mg.) Ben doesn't like it, but Hux spends a lot of time cleaning up his messes, to the point that Hux legit does not respect Ben. Literally calls him Ben, doesn't call him Dr. Anything, because he's inches away from being a nurse practitioner, and he's earned the right to feel that way.
My favorite game to play is how do I get snoke in this au, and I think snoke is an elderly patient who's a frequent flier. he's awful, he's cruel, and the only two people in the ED he likes are Hux and Ben, so they end up having to work together more than either would like, as Snoke's health declines. Does Ben try to ignore a DNR? maybe? does he terrorize the other nurses to the point that they refuse to do anything for him, and ben spends fifteen minutes on one poor teenage boys blood draw, because he's only found a vein like three times? definitely. Is there a mass casualty event, because those are always a plot point on hospital shows? it is now, and you'll never guess who wasn't working that day and comes in half delirious on a stretcher, because you guessed it itS HUX (coming back I've decided he was running a race and there was a shooting because I put plenty of my own nightmares into fan fiction and this would just be another.)
and ben obviously realizes in those moments, as he looks at hux in the hospital bed, heading into emergency surgery, how much he relies on that voice, how much he's been leaning on Hux's years more experience, how much he's been undervaluing that resource. And hux gets through surgery while Ben is having to help other patients and trying not to lose his mind, he gets admitted to a room and when he wakes up from anesthesia, who would happen to be sitting in his room, passed out after a 14 hour shift still in his scrubs but Ben solo, a cold cup of tea that was smuggled in sitting on his bedside table.
and Ben keeps visiting hux, although Hux doesn't know why. He assumes it's guilt, of some sort, and figures he can take advantage of it to get the good snacks from the vending machine, but he comes back to work and Ben is still nice? And at this point, it's getting confusing, but he just keeps letting it happen, because he's decided it's preferable to Ben from before, but in some ways, it's not, because he starts to miss some of the venom, and he can't figure out why, until he realizes that oh no he hates Ben but he was also 100% flirting and that's a terrible idea, they work together it would end so poorly
But ben won't stop looking at him with his big doe eyes and eventually hux breaks and kisses him, and ben's confused? and then hux is confused, because what was this all about if Ben didn't have a crush on him, but he flees the break room and goes home and ignores all the calls to his phone and shows up to his next shift and tries to pretend that nothing happened.
At which point another one of the nurses all but slaps ben over the head for being so dumb and then they bone i guess? I created most of this plot in the last five minutes so it needs some refinement but I just need one for the nurses tbh. THIS ONE IS FOR THE NURSES it's for every nurse that's ever been nice to me and also my friend tyra

if you lost hope in byler after vol. 2, just spend 10 minutes on the tag #byler proof. that alone will restore your faith in byler.
also, consider how much more impactful byler would be in season 5 compared to season 4. if it is an endgame couple, we would want as much build-up as we can so that some of the toxic milkvan shippers can't go after the duffer brothers about byler being rushed. at this point, milkvan shippers can't even complain about byler having 0 build-up or it not making any sense, since we are lucky enough to have 4 seasons of build-up to it.
if you want more evidence, then i want you to know that the duffer brothers want will to be the centre of season 5, and how terrible would the viewing experience would be if we had to see will sulking and being miserable all the time.
the duffer brothers are incredibly intelligent, i don't think we give them enough credit for how well they write stranger things. i have highlighted in a previous post about how excellent the duffer brothers are at foreshadowing, and i meant it. they will put in the tiniest details, however when what they foreshadowed actually happens, it becomes so obvious and we are all like "why didn't we think of that before?", and the duffer brothers have actually foreshadowed byler the most in vol. 2 (in my opinion). they literally had a shot of all the canon couples standing next to each other - jancy, jopper and byler - and el, the independent badass, standing by herself at the front.
Tumblr media
if you think you got queerbaited after vol. 2, know that the duffer brothers have no reason to queerbait. we already have robin, a gay character, and frankly one of the main ones in both season 3 and 4. if they were to queerbait in order to get a larger audience, they wouldn't have robin be gay (this is assuming that they want to be able to air stranger things in a larger variety of countries). also, they would get a lot of hate and accusations of queerbaiting if byler happened in season 5 and they are fully aware of that.
the duffer brothers wouldn't stop byler just because there are milkvan fans that would get pissy. that makes no sense. will and mike being gay (i am a mike gay truther but i will still respect you if you are a bi mike truther, tbh i'm just a "mike kisses boys" truther) is NOT new, it's been both implicitly and explicitly stated from season 1. it just makes sense for them to get together in the end, so it's not like the duffer brothers are making byler happen just because byler fans want it. and the duffer brothers are not afraid of making the fans upset - they were probably fully aware that eddie was going to be a fan favourite, yet they still killed him off. same with alexei.
also, the byler tag just keeps growing and growing and growing. as more byler proof is uncovered day by day, the general audience is beginning to realise that byler will be endgame and more people are joining us as a result of it. and then even more byler proof is uncovered.
byler is one of the most strong ships that i have ever seen in a fandom - they have so much proof that backs them up, the strongest relationship and so much build-up. byler will happen.

I wanted to talk about this with someone and you seemed like a safe person to approach, so I’m gonna confess/vent a little to you I guess if that’s okay 🥺
I’m fairly new to the Star Wars fandom and when I got into the clone wars and specifically the clones in general, naturally I started reading fanfic and looking at art. I noticed some people shipped the clones together and I thought nothing of it. Based on their interactions on screen I thought “yeah i can see why people interpreted it that way.” Especially ships like Jesse/Kix and Boil/Waxer. To the point now that in my mind they are just naturally together, I can’t imagine them not. Even if it’s not necessarily romantic, but I could get behind the romantic ship side as well. I like any version of the relationships between the clones, whether it’s more familial/brotherly or romantic.
Imagine my surprise, then, to find out that some people think it’s problematic or equal to in*est? I never saw it that way, and I still don’t. They’re not actually siblings. They’re clones, yeah, but they’re still… different people? But because I’m new to the fandom, I’m afraid to talk about it anywhere or with anyone for fear of being judged or shunned. Especially after that blacklist nonsense that recently went down. And it sucks too because I want to make friends and enjoy the fandom space, but I feel like I can’t to the full extent I want to for fear of judgement or hate. I’ve dealt enough with that in other fandoms, I’d rather just avoid it if I can in this new one, which means keeping quiet. But I hate that, too, because then I’m forced to hide this thing I really enjoy, which makes it feel shameful. Like, I recently really got into Rex/Fives and read/reread every fic that exists in the tag, but I feel like I can’t talk about it with anyone without being judged :/ they’re not even real people, I don’t see why some get so up in arms about it
I'm happy you feel like I'm a safe person! <3
Oh, same! I literally didn't think about it, then I was like, okay well some people associate clone/clone ships with actual familial relationships, so I guess I should be considerate of their sensitivity. I never saw it that way, because you absolutely cannot have millions of siblings, but then the antis got pushy so I said fuck it and went all in. XD
Anyway, as you said, some of the clone characters have such great dynamics with each other, even in the very small amount of screen time they get, so it's completely natural to ship them just like you'd ship any other characters.
They’re clones, yeah, but they’re still… different people?
Yes! Tbh (and I'm not directing this at people wo are just squicked out by clone/clone ships while being mature enough to ship and let ship <3), I find it kind of... unsettling when some people suggest that, just because the clones all look roughly the same, that automatically means they are a monolith and can't have a variety of relationships with each other.
It makes me wonder if these folks are completely failing to grasp one of the main themes of TCW: even if you look the same, you're not the same person inside / you don't have to be special to be special??
But yeah, it sucks that this group of very vocal, nasty people is trying to ruin things for others who just want to enjoy fandom in completely harmless, yet slightly different ways. I make liberal use of the block button and content/tag filters so I never even see their BS, but the sane people in the fandom shouldn't have to do that just to not get harassed.
Haha, what we need is a Chill People List! It would probably be quite extensive. :)
I wish I could help somehow, but other than painting a bigger target on my back since idgaf, I feel like all I can do is try to be a voice of reason. <3
Also, Fives/Rex is very cute and is definitely growing on me. :D
Take care! <3

from someone with a new dragon age blog... do you have any advice on how to get people to see your art? it's really unmotivating to spend so long on pieces that no one interacts with. thank you so much regardless. :))
Hi anon! Hope you're doing well :)
I'll be honest, I am not sure myself ^^" Half the time I am still surprised by what does and doesn't gain traction tbh.
In general though the fact that it's fanart should already help a little, because fandom content is definitely more popular than original content. Tagging helps too; I'm not exactly sure how the tags here work, or which ones work at all (this is tumblr after all), but you can't go wrong with throwing in anything that feels relevant, including variations of tags that people might search. And bumping! Don't be afraid to reblog your art, it gets lost easily and I know I am always glad when people bump their art cos either I missed it before and or I get to look at pretty art again :)
Otherwise...idk, more popular characters and especially ships are more likely to get attention. Oh and people really like memes and silly content (i am no exception from this lol).
I'm sorry I can't give any better or more specific advice :') Getting engagement with art online can be super tough, but it's really cool that you wanna share your art at all and I hope you don't get discouraged!
Edit:
Oh actually! I think one of the main things that really helps is literally just reblogging other peoples' art and leaving nice comments. A lot of the friends I made on tumblr I made because I checked out their blog after they rb'ed my art or vice versa and we started following each other, and imo that's one of the most motivating things

You made a tag comment about how Buddie wasn't planned from the beginning. And therefore what we got in Season 2 wasn't (at the time) the groundwork for a love story. I agree completely! Much of it I can see as either a bit of fun (the Christmas elf, the instagram girl) or that kind of hyper-masc heterosexuality that loops around itself and becomes gay (Buck's whole...thing with Eddie in the beginning, the focus on Eddie's body/hotness/physical appearance). But sometimes I step back and look at the whole and I'm all 🧐 🤔.
I don't even know what I'm asking lol. Would just love your thoughts/feelings on the confusing spectacle that are Buck and Eddie in season 2. And when/how/why did the show change their mind?
Thank you so much for the ask and you know what? Let’s talk about it.I recently had an in depth chat about this pretty unpopular opinion with a friend and I tried to explain to her why I don't see buddie as an actual pairing or having any canon potential until early s3 and why I don't believe they were planned from the beginning. This will be long and all over the place of course lol
The first and the most obvious reason is the way 911 deals with main characters and their romantic arcs. They don't actually drag it on for long because there is no need or time for that since every single main character has a strong storyline of their own and any romantic development between any pair as an additional combined storyline. Relationships happen fast on 911 because they are planned ahead and the only relationship that took longer than usual few episodes was Chim and Maddie and they were already kissing and planning a date in 2x11.
Also when shows enter their second season there is never a way to predict how long it will stay on the air and because of that it is impossible for me to believe that buddie was planned as some epic old school slowburn that is nowhere as close to be resolved after 3 seasons. When I say old school slowburn I mean shows that have this one heterosexual romance at the center of the universe that is usually stretched across seasons and builds up sexual tension between characters and it takes literally years for them to finally get together. We have these two characters that where made for each other and you KNOW that they will eventually get together because of some ridiculous pining that will eventually end in a kiss and everyone will scream and cry.And maybe that’s how buddie feels to me now after years of careful build up-but the way I see it they as a potential something didn't happen in s2.
We all joke about how character introduction of Eddie is the gayest we have ever seen and Buck's reaction to him as true bisexual and I do that myself too because I am a bisexual too and tbh its hard to unsee (also I don't want to) but lets remove our rainbow glasses for a second. What really did happened in that scene? Eddie's perfect abs on display,Chim and Hen fun comments on how beautiful he is,Bobby's praise and bragging about getting Eddie and his Silver Star on the team and Buck's insecurities flaring up as a reaction to all of this.Buck immediately feels threatened. At this point we of course have no idea how deeply his insecurities run or why,but as episode progresses we witness Eddie on his first call making a better decision to how to handle a medical situation and backed up by Bobby. It has sort of a devastating effect on Buck, who suddenly starts acting like we have never seen him before. Then there is a that scene at the gym where Buck tells Eddie how he is his problem. And later we of course have the scene in ambulance when Eddie asked what exactly they are measuring. Because that's what it looked like - a usual macho men measuring context. But the thing is 911 doesn’t toxic masculinity when it comes to main male characters and we saw many examples of that already by then, but the biggest one was supposed to be BuckandEddie. Equals, partners and best friends.
911 was already pushing boundaries with cast, characters and relationships diversity and I strongly believe that what they wanted to show us was a male equivalent of what we are used to see in female bffs -a different kind of a friendship between men. Men who care about each other, who talk about feelings, discuss sex, dating or why they don’t,who again openly acknowledge that they find each other attractive and giving advices on how to take a more flattering selfie, who are not afraid of crying, admit they are struggling or heartbroken or loving their kid.Honestly when was the last time any of us saw a male friendship like theirs?Men are not allowed to be like that on TV (I am still shocked that its a Fox show tbh) and especially with each other. We are not used to see such a development so no wonder people started paying attention-which was what writers wanted,of course.
But that also brings us to that important question about queer undertones, subtext and do what we actually see in s2. Are there queer undertones?Absolutely. Subtext? It’s right there but you will probably not get it unless you’re reading between the lines. Before we get to Christmas Elf,there was ‘’He is cute!/He gets that a lot,you should’ve seen his kid...’’ Maddie and Buck scene that is once again reinforces that Buck finds Eddie attractive and it shouldn’t be a surprise because we already know from 2x01 he has eyes - but they mention it AGAIN and that personally made me raise a brow or two.By the time we get to that Christmas episode,we already have Shannon back and Buck finally moved on from Abby with Taylor and then Ali and then we are given another queer coded scene-with Christmas elf.And its very cute and to an average heterosexual viewer its a nice little joke, but any queer watching that scene was probably taken aback a little.
So why imo did Tim&Co do it and when they realized they can actually see where they can take BuckandEddie and when they started becoming buddie? My answer is ship teasing. It’s what a lot of people actually mistake for queer baiting, but we are not talking about that rn.Ship teasing works like charm and if shows can get away with that-they will totally use it to their advantage. It’s usually not always malicious, but it IS always intentional because that brings in a category of people that were overlooked for a long time-online fandom. Now I have seen some opinions that fandom doesn’t really matter,it’s the ratings that count and that is NOT TRUE.You can have your ratings, but if there is no buzz online?Your show is going nowhere. For at least a decade now every self-respecting production has teams to monitor fandom activities because it gives them better ideas about how consumers(fans) are interacting with their product (show).Fandom is important because we generate the buzz.So I do believe that BuckandEddie and that sweet ship teasing were to get a certain part of the fandom pay attention.
I wasn’t here when S2 aired so I don’t know if that was the case, but it is obvious that these scenes I talked about above made fans pay a LOT of attention. And maybe that was the reaction writers needed to start changing course from ship teasing to start building up to something else. They maybe didn’t plan it at the very beginning and on paper, but lets also not forget the insane chemistry between Oilver and Ryan, which imo is another big reason-it's impossible to ignore.
Because S3?Is light years away from S2 in terms of BuckandEddie-they became buddie. In s3 Buck and Eddie become each other’s significant other, they are in a primary relationship. ’’Buck invites Eddie...’’?!!!!! It is not yet romantic and probably won’t be until ending of s5 if we are lucky-but it is in your face, they are not subtle anymore.I personally saw buddie only at the end of 3x03 when Eddie came over and said that there is noone in the world he trusts with his son more than Buck, looking like he did into Buck’s eyes, while ‘Photograph’ played in the background right before Buck’s overvoice about being seen and found and a raft to bring one home. After S4 ending tho...we all know that something is about to happen and its like there is electricity in the air as we are waiting for s5!
Probably a lot more thoughts than you expected, but I have many feelings about these two and when buddie goes canon this post will become completely irrelevant lol 💖

Hello👋 I go by Cherry, you can also call me Max or Sky because honestly I don't answer to my own name. I ramble a lot
BYF:
-I am an adult. When I joined these fandoms I was not. Your interests don't magically disappear when you turn 18
-I'm lesbian, so if your first thought when you see that is :/ you're not welcome here! Lesbian is not a dirty word and it does not inherently mean terf or biphobic. Check your own community before demonizing another. I'm also genderfluid (sort of a girl-nonbinary-agender spectrum) so if you think that cancels it out same thing! I am not afraid of coming off as a mean fucking dyke I am tired of this shit
-I swear a lot
-suggestive content sometimes (nsft, nsft-ish, and nsft mention are the tags to block)
-no offense but I really don't care about mutuals status. Unless we're actually friends, if you post stuff I'm not interested in/move onto a different fandom I'm not following ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ call me boring but I don't like cluttering my dash with stuff I know nothing about. Please don't take it personally if I unfollow you, I follow like 50 people max and it's still a lot for me
-I ship ghiralink. Saying this now because it's apparently a big thing
My version of Sky Link is >18 because the game starts with him graduating school and becoming a knight, I started the game as a 17 1/2 yr old about to graduate high school and beat it the day before I went to college so I'm hella projecting onto it, like you're supposed to with a blank player character. Most of the stuff I make is post canon, the events of the game taking 6+ months. If you have a problem with Ghiralink you should also have a problem with Midlink, Shadlink, Miphlink, Sidlink, Revalink, Zelimpa (or their x Zelda counterparts) and countless other Zelda ships with nonhuman characters and/or a lack of canon age/consistent age equivalency before trying to claim the moral high ground. If you don't like it you don't like it, stop pretending anyone who does is a monster
This is my main blog, it doesn't have a theme, but I post/reblog
-Legend of Zelda (mostly Skyward Sword Ghirahim/Ghiralink )
-general internet culture
-fan art
-fanfic
-original artwork
-Update of shame: Star Wars
My stuff is tagged cherryskyart/writing/etc because I usually split posting it between here and my skyward sword sideblog
I'm not really into these fandoms anymore so if you're following me for that you'll be disappointed
-Harry Potter (do not talk to me about anything Harry Potter. I do not want it in my life anymore. Even anti-HP stuff I just Do Not Want to deal with anything related to it)
-Percy Jackson
-Doctor Who
-Breath of the Wild/Age of Calamity (anything not skyward sword, tbh)
-Lord of the Flies
(if that list wasn't a red flag)
I also use @skyview-temple-spring (Skyward Sword) and @hylimpa (WLW in LoZ). See the linktree in my bio for usernames on other sites
Please ask if you want me to tag any content (I tag most generally triggering things but if there's something else that's not one of the main ones let me know, it's no big deal. Anon is on)
I don't really have a DNI, I block first ask questions later and don't offer second chances anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if you think it was a mistake, log out and send me an ask on anon, I won't post it and call you out or anything
Here's my block criteria anyway. I like reading people's DNI lol
Reposting is fine just credit me and don't use shipping tags unless it's said so in the main post
adding something about reposting my artwork. If you get harassed about it, please delete the post and block the user, do not engage with them!! For any post really, as likes and views are not worth your mental health, but I feel bad because I've not had many problems and this is twice now someone has reposted something of mine and they're the ones that took the fall for it. I have many people blocked already (Tumblr and Instagram, still working on Twitter) that wouldn't see it to begin with, but you may not! If they can't yell at the source they'll take it out on you, and even if you do try arguing often times they'll switch up their argument and keep it going once they realize you're right.
I don't have a problem with tagging my art as your kin/id or whatever. Maybe don't use "me" because that comes off as you made it. I'm uncomfortable with my art being tagged as your "fictional other", husband, or wife.
**DO NOT TAG ANYTHING I POST AS LINKED UNIVERSE OR GHIRAFI**

how exactly do you cope with or respond to fandoms that just seem overall incredibly unsupportive/close minded? like there's certain works that I'm into, but sometimes, the fandom just isn't my cup of tea and I don't know what to do
I’ve been in like...a couple of toxic fandoms in the past. One became toxic over a period of time, for a short period of time, due to specific BNFs in the fandom (that would be Rise of the Guardians about 6 years ago - it’s not like that anymore and hasn’t been for a long time, I wouldn’t have been able to write TGATNW otherwise I think), and the other was Dragon Age. I mean there are other fandoms I’m in like Steven Universe and Voltron that are obviously famous for being super toxic, but aside from looking at fanart and the occasional fic, I’m not very involved and so it’s easy to avoid.
Honestly, re: the ‘how do you cope’ I just ignore it? Like, the Detroit: Become Human fandom has been really bizarre. Not toxic just...WEIRD. Lmao. But I didn’t start writing for those people, I started writing the story for myself and like the one or two people I thought would like the story. And when certain types of comments started getting me down, I then began ignoring the fandom actively in favour of thinking about those people instead.
Like, I get to choose how much I interact with a fandom. Even with products I really love, like Dragon Age, I follow only about two or three dedicated DA posters who I feel curate their feeds pretty well. I don’t compromise by thinking ‘oh well even though they post things that make me uncomfortable / anti stuff the fanart they post is worth it.’ It’s NOT worth it, if it exposes me to those kinds of attitudes on a regular basis. The occasional post from a mutual I can generally ignore (unless it’s an anti post), but I’m not going to pick up people to follow who are 50% good content and 50% ‘oh god.’ Because you’re not going to end up enjoying the good content very much in that scenario.
So some fandoms I read a lot of fics very actively, interact with authors etc. I think that’s more typical of me in Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji, especially among Ciel/Sebastian shippers. Ditto Thorki shippers in Marvel. Sometimes you see me posting more fanart for that stuff over at @capillata not because I actually care about those fandoms more than other ones, but because I can afford to follow more people because the fandoms overall are less toxic etc.
The other thing to keep in mind is that say, for example, Steven Universe, I would consider myself a part of that fandom because I reblog fanart, I watch the show pretty religiously, I know all the words to the songs, etc. But I’m not the gross, wanky, anti part of it. I’m still a part of fandom just because I’m not like, in the section it’s most famous for. I daresay most members of the Steven Universe fandom are just like me. They’re just quieter and less loud and are more likely to walk away from stupid arguments! So anon, generally speaking, if you are interacting with the fanworks of a fandom, you are part of the fandom too! Just...in a different way to what you’re seeing. Chances are, unless the fandom is literally only four people, you’re not alone. :D It can take time to find the quieter, less drama-focused members of fandom precisely because they are quieter and less drama-focused. They won’t be tagging all their posts into the main tags, their Twitters may be hard to find, etc.
It also helps to be in more than one fandom. Like, that way you sort of have refuges from where the drama is likely to explode.
Problematic pockets of fandom are getting larger these days due to the validation of antis in the mainstream. So it becomes more important than ever to develop your own tools which look like:
* Not developing absolutist thinking. It’s easy to go ‘this fandom is toxic’ but the reality is it’s usually only a pocket of the fandom who are the loudest and most disruptive. Even in the most famously shitty fandoms (Voltron), there are reasonable, fair-minded, ‘ship what you like you’re valid’ people. It’s true, I know them and I am one. Absolutist thinking will lock you away from those people before you even have a chance to find or meet them.
* Curate your feeds! Be fussy/picky about what you follow. If you can, use things like Saviour or New X-Kit on Tumblr to blacklist trigger or squick words. Don’t be afraid to block antis or similar on Twitter. Don’t worry about what you’ll ‘miss out on’ in the process. Be gently ruthless with what you keep around you.
* If the fandom isn’t great because it’s quiet, encourage it along if you have the voice/energy for it. Put positive energy into the fandom.
* Remember that you are a part of the fandom too if you’re engaging in it and want to be.
* Encourage the works that you think are what you’re looking for in the fandom. Say you’re in an anti-dominated fandom and someone writes a ‘controversial’ work that you LOVE, see about taking the time to comment or send an ask to the author saying you enjoyed it. Send it on anon if you have to, but consider the ways you can support the parts of fandom you actively enjoy. It’s the best way to see more of it (this is obviously energy dependent lol).
* Remember you can peace out from the fandom. There is nothing to stop you from just reading fanworks forever, and never engaging in the fandom at all. Tbh this was me for the majority of my time re: fanfiction. I may have written Misfits fanfiction, but I’m not active in the fandom. The same can be said for Rise of the Guardians and even now Detroit: Become Human. (Though the latter is because the areas of fandom I was in kind of died lmao). There’s no litmus test saying that you’re only valid if you’re in the fandom, that’s some bullshit.
Anyway, tl;dr - I cope by avoiding the bad shit, and carefully curating my Tumblr feeds (or any place where I see fandom stuff, like Twitter as well), and by remembering that I’m also a part of the fandom, and that if I can be in it and not be a shouty anti while I’m in it, there will be other people like me in that fandom who are the same. Good luck, anon!
(The super short answer is: ‘If it isn’t your cup of tea then just read the fics friendo, no one’s stopping you’)
