I was just walking with one of my dogs. We started toward a T intersection, lit by a street light at the center, when a pretty coyote came out of the darkness to our left and brazenly moved into the light. She walked slowly in an arc, about 15 feet in front of us. The whole time she made eye contact with us, enticing us to return her gaze.

Then I sensed movement to my left. I turned and saw 2 more coyotes moving fast and quiet up our left side. When the one in the lead saw my eyes both bolted around me, and the three coyotes took off with speed.

The thing is, I've seen a surprisingly similar strategy used by muggers twice: on an El train, and on a subway platform. I guess, stripped down to meat and bone we're pack animals.

They were high school sweethearts (even though they didn't play croquet)

They were co workers

because my dash were being all coy about the 'news' about now and then I had to track it down via men being serious on youtube and dear god

(the only interesting news is that they've apparently used AI to make Paul's voice sound younger, which is kind of the most interesting thing they could do, and I love them for it, because yeurch all the AI bullshit on youtube at the moment, but if paul gets hold of a machine and can make his voice do whatever he wants it to, is that AI bullshit or is that just paul being very paul? what might it be and where might it end? BUT! that is not even the news the serious men of youtube are REMOTELY interested in though! honestly they barely mentioned it. the "news" they care about is that they've used a three way harmony vocal chord from a take of 'because' for backing, and slowed it down to change the key. sounds lovely to me but the men do not think it is lovely, they think it's quite serious, and they're not at all sure how they feel about it, except that it's worrying, if not actually concerning. The news is also that george played rhythm guitar on it, not lead guitar, and that's also something which it's hard to know how to feel about, but probably best to feel very serious about. And george might not sing on it, (apart from in the three part harmony) so how terrible to say it's even a beatles song if george is only playing on it and singing on it, and it's odd, isn't it, that it's all just going ahead when actually the serious men of youtube aren't sure they want it to, and when they're not sure it's what george would have wanted. (it turns out they know just as much as tumblr's george fans what george would have wanted, so that's good, they can all discuss among themselves and perhaps have a little war to decide who is the most upset about literally nothing and who can best protect George from literally nothing, I don't know.) Also the news is that ringo probably didn't even want to do the track and giles martin had to 'talk him into it' so yet again paul was the only beatle who wanted to do the thing, which we all already knew, and which is fine, isn't it? NO. Nothing is fine. incredibly, they seem to think makes it less of a beatles track, when that's the very thing that makes it most beatley, but it would be wrong to just enjoy that, or indeed enjoy anything, it's all very concerning, and we can only assume the very worst and be serious about it. On top of all the "news", it's important you know that they're still not sure we even NEED a new beatles track but it is happening anyway as if their opinion might not matter, and that is very troubling. they don't seem to have even considered just not giving a shit, oh gosh the shit they give. They also seem to feel that it matters a lot whether it's a good song or not? !!! They're so confused. And they're still worried it's not really going to actually even be a beatles song !!! which is extraordinary because obviously it's not a beatles song, is it, they're half dead, so worrying on and on about whether or not it's really a beatles song is a terrible use of time, but they have a lot of time. Also apparently the news is that they're remixing the blue and red albums which also apparently we should have serious opinions on but I had to opt out of those opinions because I died.)

WIP! I love that, if you put Genesis and Sephiroth together, you get one full set of wings. Opposite sides, more or less the same color, about the same length—like it's meant to be.

I had to dig up my google doc where I wrote these up back after ITMOM premiered and I’d watched it a few times. (One day I will organize my google docs. Maybe.)

Defender

I headcanon that there's been a lot of turmoil in Defender’s universe as a result, life is very structured and strict. (But also it's honest about it, unlike 838, and society is actually flourishing, rather than hiding behind the illusion of a false utopia.)

Kamar-Taj and the Masters of the Mystic Arts are a little more militant. Less "working behind the scenes" and more "we're a defending presence and it's okay that others know it.” Very much with "needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one" vibes.

Defender Stephen seemed like he took the advice "it's not about you" and internalized it to the extreme. (He didn’t want to kill America, it broke his heart but he couldn’t think of any other way so that’s the choice he started to make because that’s what he does. He’ll deal with the self-loathing later.)

So…

Defender Stephen is a gentle but firm Dom. Out of all the variants, he's the most strict, disciplined. Your safety is everything to him and the one thing that challenges his duty of serving the needs of the many over the needs of the few.  He makes the hard choices, even when he doesn't want to. Nothing brings him satisfaction like you submitting and trusting him to take care of you.

If you trust him to take care of you and love him even knowing how inflexible he has to be in defending your world and reality, then maybe there’s hope for him after all, he thinks.

Sinister

He’s lost everything because of his own hubris and obsession so even as he wants you desperately he can't help but be a little self-sabotaging about it.

Touch-starved to the extreme, he has to be near you always, always able to touch you and ensure that you're real and not a figment of his twisted mental state.

Sinister Stephen will control and fuck you like he hates you and then afterwards be the most praising and affectionate being in the multiverse to you. He needs to know that you can see him at his worst and come through it still accepting and loving him, because sometimes he has trouble accepting and loving himself.

Supreme

If there's ever been a Stephen Strange who's a control freak to the extreme, it's Supreme Strange.

His life has been hectic, with the loss of his sister Donna and brother Victor. The loss of his hands didn't send him into extreme despair like variants but instead increased his obsession with control. He can't control his damaged hands the way he once could? Fine, he'll control everything else around him.

He's tried to surrender control, but he underestimated just how damn insufferable the team he chose for the Illuminati are. So, he quietly continues to do his own work because that group is all but useless to him.

He wants to be in control, 100%, but also wants to be praised excessively. He needs to hear how he's the best, you're so grateful, so adoring of him. It's frustrating for you, yes, but with that control he craves comes his need for validation so you're never left wanting or unsatisfied. It's not just blind praise and adoration he wants from you, he needs feel like he’s earned it.

And even when he says you can call the shots, he's definitely topping from the bottom.

Strange Supreme

Strange Supreme, my love, my He Who Can Do No Wrong, settles for nothing less than TPE. He will never, ever hurt you or make you feel less than the most cherished and precious thing in his life, but there is nothing he does not control.

Yes, thing. “I take excellent care of my possessions.”

Because you. are. his.

Give him your body, heart, mind, soul... and there is nothing he will not give you or do for you.

Destroying a universe for you is nothing to him. He's done it before and he'll do it again if it means keeping you safe and happy. (His definition of what makes you happy and your definition will probably differ, though.)

I need him on a deep & personal level.

So I now live in a place where putting cream on my skin is not only normal but expected, because fuck desert climates, but sometimes i cannot STAND the texture. My skin is now telling me ''im itchy i need cream'' but i also know that as soon as I touch cream my entire skin entity will crawl right off my frame and escape into the night.

Thank you, texture issues. You make life interesting, if nothing else.

We all know that Batman used to laugh during Jason's era as Robin, but I think that at least the first month or so that laughter was mostly a, "what the fuck is up with this kid" kind of laughter. Like Jason is so astonishingly different from Dick as Robin (Dick: *wants to kill someone so bad he's got a severe case of Stupid and Bruce just wants him to Sit and Stay* Jason: "Robin gives me magic!!!" 🤩) that Bruce just has like No coping mechanisms for Jason lmao. The first three weeks is Bruce just going, "what the fuck? Dick didn't do that. what do you mean I'm not going to have to nag him about homework. Oh my god this teenager thinks that--yuuuup, those are rocket propelled rollerskates. Oh look, the inevitable crash." I'd be wtf laughing too if i went from 2008 MCR emo child to ray of sunshine, introduced by way of incredible ballsiness followed immediately by half assed violence and stray-cat-esque coaxing from Bruce. I'd think I was in a fever dream ngl.

Rewatching Phineas and Ferb has honestly just highlighted how much of a good guy Jeremy is. He adores Candace no matter how weird he clearly thinks she is, thinks her brothers are cool even while she's desperately trying to bust them, and, whenever she has spent the entire episode trying to be there with Jeremy until she can't STAND it any longer and goes haring off after the boys, he's just chilling in the dust and saying, "that's my girl."

Phineas and Ferb astounds me with how funny it continues to be. We've estblished Linda Flynn-Fletcher as the old pop star Lindonna, and then she likes to play jazz with two other women in the neighborhood. Imagine if Nina Sky (one hit wonder of the 2000s: Move Ya Body) had a quiet jazz trio in the middle of the suburbs of this city and dropped an album and you're just like, ah, yes, soothing jazz by Nina Sky.

And track three is a hard rock song with the lead male singer ranting to Nina about how evil their siblings are and all the rest of the tracks are back to soothing jazz. You flip over the CD case to read the back.

My #1 post of 2022

I think people need to tell more kids that they're proud of them for graduating high school. I'm absolutely dead serious, especially now. I can see the graduating high schoolers surrounding me right now are burned out and traumatized and depressed, and they've undoubtedly had a much, much harder time in high school than I ever had, and I had some pretty shitty high school experiences.

I graduated high school with no more acknowledgement than the standard "congrats on surviving another year of school!" And immediately followed by "have you finished all your scholarship applications?" That was fine for me. I knew i wanted to go to college, I was set and ready for it, eager to get out of high school into more challenging courses.

But if I just finished high school after two years of fighting through online courses and no one acknowledged the battles I went through? If I was as burnt out and traumatized as these kids are right now? I'd have never have gone to college.

So for everyone graduating high school, even if you barely scraped by passing: I see you. I'm proud of you. You did such a good job. I wish you success in what you try to do, fortune enough to keep you safe and happy, and health always.

If any who worked on Top Gun: Maverick ever reads/finds this message, I want  them to know that today is August 9th, 2022 and there’s still a big gaggle of Southern women in a salon gushing completely unprompted about how good that movie was.

ugh i have 0 ofmd story idea and so far even the kinkmeme hasn't given me anything that really grabs me, but i'm still riding the wave of hyperfixation from working on 5 stede things izzy tries and izzy's head feels like the equivilent of a really well broken in sofa, it's just comfy to be in rn

i want to channel that energy into writing and instead i'm just doing the mental equivilent of a greyhound walking around and around in circles instead of lying down

i have ideas for stuff i want to do in that universe, but none of them are substantial enough to stand on their own, they need a plot to make their home in and all i've got is me holding up izzy like the marge simpson 'i just think he's neat' meme
