It always makes me sad whenever stories with hopeful messages or lighthearted moments are sometimes dismissed as unintelligent or weaker than tragedies. Isn't joy and hope what makes a dark journey worthwhile? Not every story needs an unhappy ending to serve as a lesson.
I will forever be a fan of stories that say hey, maybe the world is a rough place, and it will always be this way, but you can make a difference with the people who matter to you. Even if no one else will know, even if no one else will remember, the ones you loved, and who loved you in return, will remember. People who are holding onto you, even at the end of everything else. People who remind you that new beginnings are born from the ashes.
My favorite stories will always end with love, hope, and the sun rising on the horizon after hell and high waters. The world can be so cruel, but we can choose not to be as individuals. Joy is as human as anger and sorrow. Joy is what we reach for when we are at our lowest, whether we realize it or not. We want what was lost back. I love stories where the characters reach the light at the end of the tunnel, emerge on the other side, and are allowed to heal. Even if they’ve done bad things, even if they aren’t perfect, isn’t that true of all of us?

Good news clown husbandry tumblr! I have reason to believe that the Court Jester is not, in fact, extinct!
I was at my state fair when I encountered a show preformed by a male clown, I originally believed he was a comedian, but upon further inspection of his performance, which was mostly physical humor (including having members of the audience throw things at him), I began to suspect that he may actually have been a Jester/Circus Clown hybrid! (I suspect Circus Clown heritage due to the fact that he had a large unicycle. I did not get close enough to see his plumage clearly, although it appeared rather drab-part of what originally led me to my original judgment of comedian-I believe that he may have adopted a less flamboyant color palate in order to blend in with the radio cowboys).
In addition, I have long believed that many Court Jesters actually appear in Renaissance Faires solitarily or in small troupes. While many believe that the Court Jester died out due to habitat loss, Renaissance Faires seem to be a suitable reconstruction, even having ‘royal courts’ for them to perform for. When I previously have brought this up with my friends, they suggested that these could be Circus Clown/Porcelain Jester hybrids trained to act like Court Jesters. However, given this new evidence, I feel confident in stating that the widely accepted claim that Court Jesters are extinct seems to be false.

i’m just gonna make something clear here. yes, downpour has its issues, particularly with its lore and some aspects of its writing. i’m not a fan of many of the story choices made in downpour, and i don’t use downpour’s lore essentially at all when writing my own rain world stuff.
however, downpour is a community made story, and videocult collaborated with the MSC team to make it an official DLC. some of the downpour devs are on tumblr. they can see what you’re saying about their story. would you boldly and loudly criticize someone’s fanfic to their face? why are you doing it to downpour if not?
you’re entitled to disliking downpour. no one can stop you from doing that. but have some god damn tact, you’re saying this stuff to people who do enjoy the stories that downpour tells. you can criticize downpour in kinder ways.

Pros and cons of telling someone if they could watch any show to understand you better it would be this one and then shortly after quoting a line between two partners who take several years to finally admit they’re in love with one another:
Pros: if they were to ever watch it there’s enough episodes where it would take until at least the summer so you have permanently left the state
Cons: they will absolutely remember because you are so unaffectionate that anything you say like that is one in a million and will be quoted back at you bc u are unaffectionate and may very well connect the dots down the line
