The thing is, even if Frenkie is considered important by Xavi, Barca really need money, and since midfield is the area where they’re the most stacked in terms of talent, they may feel more inclined to sell Frenkie. They can sell him for way more money than say Ferran or Alonso (no offense to Ferran, all offense to Alonso), and there’s also the money they owe him too and salary.

the thing is, the issue isn’t how much money barça have, it’s how much money they’re allowed to spend under a very strict financial system and how much their debts are impacted by investments; so, yes— frenkie’s salary does make that difficult, as it is fairly large despite him having taken multiple pay cuts over the years. however, one of Xavi’s main conditions for him remaining at barcelona was that the board wouldn’t sell any of his key players, which we know Frenkie is.

so, sure. maybe there’s a chance he could be sold, but when you consider that xavi has JUST resigned, i highly doubt the board will attempt to argue about selling his key players.

in addition, frenkie himself has said he doesn’t want to leave; so if the manager doesn’t want him to leave, and the player doesn’t want to leave, the board realistically can do, at most, fuck all.

I hope Gareth Southgate knows that if Trent isn't called up, or ANY of our boys aren't called up, I'll set Purple Aki on him.

i think that if barca sell him they’re genuine fucking idiots, because it will completely expose their myriad of defensive holes that he repeatedly clogs, but if bayern go for him then maybe. they also seem to struggle with certain aspects of their possession play, and i think frenkie would add to that a lot.
