ok so you know how months ago i posted headshots of my trio and said i had finished i had them all. well i was wrong. but this time im right i promise
ID: pencil sketches colored digitally, a lineup of Link, (a younger) Ganon and Zelda (with Fi behind her), or at least my designs for my LoZ au. Fi looks slightly different, mostly in that her “arms” are more like feathery wings. Zelda has the Master Sword at her waist, and Ganon and Link both have strong blue accents in their outfits to match her. Long in depth descriptions of their outfits are below the cut. end ID
I really want to go into all their designs because I’ve put sooo much time into them but do not want that long post cut off again for just one image...
LINK: is the shortest, freckled, with sharp eyes and light brown hair that is longer but similar to the style of Skyward Sword Link. His tunic has long sleeves rolled up the elbow, with white embroidered accents showing leaves and a fairy. He has a long blue scarf with white stripes, and wears a black obi with a flute tucked haphazardly in, under a thick leather belt, from which hangs a pouch for an ocarina. His fingerless gloves and boots match, the same brown leather as his belt but with the tops rolled down to reveal lighter, orange-y leather and stitched hems. The boots toes are enforced with metal, and the same leaf pattern on his tunic runs up the front of the boot. The right knee of his pants has a patch. A slit on the side of his tunic’s skirt reveals chainmail, and of course he has small blue hoop earrings, with no visible gold or triangular motifs. Biggest inspirations: Link to the Past Link illustration where all he’s wearing all his items, and TP Link.
GANON: is the tallest, with his trademark gold eyes and fiery hair, which falls in spikes around his face, one long segment of hair over each shoulder, ending in golden triangle accessories. He wears a high-collared off-white tunic with bishop sleeves, hemmed with a dark pink geometric pattern. Over this he wears a very dark blue sleeveless a-line silhouette coat with golden accents and buttons. His belt is blue and wraps around his waist twice, with a pouch on his hip. On the other side hangs a pendant which is hardly visible but matches the one on Zelda’s top (it was once hers - his original pendant matched the accessories in his hair, and he gave it to Link as a good luck charm. Link, in turn, gave Zelda her bracelet.) He has blue leg warmers and black pointy-toed boots. The pencil lines show a backpack and the mark of the Triforce on his hand. The goal is fancy but not overly so, still practical and cozy. Biggest inspirations: variety of academic-type NPCs though the series (ex: Owlan, several guys I ran into frequently in BOTW) and Koume & Kotake.
ZELDA: is the only one here who I drew knowing she would be in this lineup, and so her pose and lines are more intentional. She has blunt bangs and equally blunt hair cut above her shoulders, plus the Toon Zelda zig-zag locks framing her face. Her earrings are large but simple gold triangles. She wears a sleeveless white shirt under an off-the-shoulder blue top with a circular cutout in the middle of the chest, just under the neckline which is held together with a gold pendant. The pendant is a circle with small stylized wings (echoed in the pattern on her top) with a red gem in the center and a red tassel hanging down, matching the tassel she has attached to the Master Sword’s hilt. She wears a black underbust corset with tails in the front and back, gold accessories at the ends. Her flared pants have white stripes near the bottom similar to the stripes on several Zelda’s dresses, and her leather boots have golden soles. She wears a green bracelet on her right wrist, along with nearly a full arm of golden armor, green and black painted detail, on her left. Biggest inspirations: idk she just happened <3 Skyward Sword Zelda concept art

LU Character Design Analysis 2
The incredible designs for each of the heroes was the first thing that sold me on this story and concept. I love analysing things in stories and character design is something I haven’t talked about yet. I got this idea from watching character design analysis videos on youtube, and those creators sometimes put the designs into a tier list. So I thought I’d do that with the LU designs.
This was originally part of the first post but I realised that it was too long so I moved it to a separate post. I might have to do the others one at a time as well.
see 9th place here
8th place: Sky
Sorry, but I really couldn’t rank him higher. Overall his design looks amazing and mostly comfortable, it’s just a little impractical for fighting and more importantly travelling.
Tumblr media
Pros: The pastel tunic helps him look unique and it reflects his sweet and mild mannered temperament. It’s cool toned, leading me to think that his kindness sometimes comes more from a place of passive politeness rather than a genuine want to help others.
The embroidery looks super cute and I feel Sun probably did it for him, either as a surprise or because he asked her. The patterns on all the different shirt layers are really nice. I absolutely adore the flared white collar and the style of that blue patterned white shirt™️. While the slightly puffed 3/4 sleeves are blessing my existence with how gorgeous they are, I know from experience that it’s awkward putting a fitted long sleeve shirt on top of such an item.
For real though, the sleeves aren’t long enough for you to hold in your hands so they get all bunched up and then you have to reach inside to pull them back into place and it’s just a hassle...you know?
The red earrings are a nice touch and almost excuse all the bulky clothing because they’re magic and give him heat protection. For that reason he’ll never be too hot or too cold in those clothes and they look fairly comfy, like he could easily take a nap anywhere. The chainmail is essential for his work attire since he is a knight, and I like that his civilian clothes still have green trousers. It’s a nice nod to his Skyward Sword clothes.
Cons: I think the fashionably slitted tunic looks cool aesthetically, but it does look ceremonial rather than combat ready. The embroidery is nice but it should be around the edges of his tunic, not highlighting all the exposed areas. Or if they’re are going to be there, maybe don’t have the slits. The slits make the tunic look fragile. Like if one piece got caught on the chainmail it would snag and tear the whole thing in two.
Now’s probably a good time to mention the lack of support around his waist. His belt isn’t fastened securely because the tunic doesn’t have belt loops, and instead of it being around the tunic it is just wrapped around his red hip blankie. Since it’s not constantly sliding down or needing to be adjusted the belt must be really tight to keep it in place, which sounds awfully suffocating. For his civilian clothes it works because he isn’t moving around as much (I’d argue a sash would be better though, but his SS civilian outfit had it so that’s fine), but in a combat setting where he’ll be doing flips and running around, that material and belt would fly off.
On top of it being impractical I personally think it looks strange on a tunic. Although I’m probably the only one who sees it like that.
I do understand that he needs to have red placed there to balance out his crimson earrings, so maybe make the belt itself red or give it a distinctive red pattern or maybe decorate it with small red feathers from his loftwing- or maybe have it be woven into a complex braid with those feathers. As long as his tunic gets to have belt loops I’m fine with whatever.
Why isn’t he wearing his hat? It’s part of his uniform! I’m fine with him not wearing his uniform exactly how he would in his own era and I get that the hat looks goofy. That’s probably why the chain (except Legend) don’t have it in their designs, but Sky is a goofball. Let him be a dork like Legend and wear his pointy hat.
The sailcloth (although it gives him a nice dynamic silhouette while in action) is too long to be practical and again it looks ceremonial. I don’t think neither Sun nor Sky would like him trailing it in mud while travelling, and not to mention stains are near impossible to get out of white materials!
That long shining white cape would blind anyone and everyone on a sunny day. So on cloudless days he better walk at the back of the group or else Time will lose sight in his other eye. Plus that delicate soft material will get caught in forest undergrowth and shrubbery during treks, slowing him down (which is really bad in his case) and could get in the way during battle. I suppose if the battle was on a sunny day then his cape would disorientate his enemies, but it would blind everyone on the battlefield. Including his allies.
I don’t know how I feel about the gem being part of the tunic. I had assumed it was part of the sailcloth and acted as a sort of clip but now I don’t know how the sailcloth is supposed to be attached.
Wishlist: Tbh I’ve not got anything significant I wanna add. I suppose I wish there was more done with his hair, like if there were ribbons or feathers woven into braids or a bun perhaps. But that would mean he couldn’t wear the hat. And I want the hat more than I want hair feathers.
Score:
Aesthetic and visual score (/10): 7 Character representation score (/5): 3 Practicality score (/5): 1 Total (/20): 11
I ranked Sky higher than Wild because I think his design is more cohesive and I like it better, even if it doesn’t have as much symbolism. But they’re both at the bottom of the list because of the impractical white cape and strange dual-coloured tunic respectively.
~~~
Thanks for reading! What modifications would you make to their designs? And do you agree with me or not? I’d love to know :)
So, BO2W Breakdown
Buckle up, this is gonna be a long one.
Tumblr media
Here we’ve got Ganon’s...energy taking over Link’s arm. Ordinarily, I’d call it Malice, but based on what it turns into, I’m just going to be calling it corruption. We don’t get much information from this scene besides this expression:
Tumblr media
Link’s grabbing the corruption with his other hand, and wincing. It looks painful. I personally think it’s for cinematic effect that it was included, but it COULD be a gateway into a Phantom Hourglass sort of mechanic--Link has to function on a time limit, or using the corruption’s power could drain his life.
Tumblr media
Next we’ve got a closeup of Ganondorf. F in chat to the rehydration theorists.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the closeups of his jewelry. The only significant thing I can see is his necklace, which looks like a cross between the Gerudo symbol and a Fleur de Lis:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But what I’M most interested in is this tie on his belt:
Tumblr media
For one, it’s WAY bigger than it needs to be, and that’s deliberate. Ganondorf’s got a jewelry aesthetic he’s already hit above; everything else is gold, why not this bit?
Most importantly, you can barely make it out, but the designs either look Sheikah or Zonai--they’ve got that same kind of swirly busy pattern to them. The red tint and tan-ish lines in it makes me think it’s possessed Sheikah tech.
Tumblr media
Next, we’re shown Zelda falling. This looks like it happens right after these two caps from the first trailer:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So we reach for her as the ground collapses, and evidently, we fail to pull her back up. So my next question for that scene is going to be what the in-game reason is for us not diving in right after her. Maybe we won’t get one, since the appeal of the original BOTW was that you could fight Ganon whenever you wanted.
Up next, we’ve got a skydiving shot:
Tumblr media
The first thing to notice is that Link’s pose while skydiving is just about identical to his pose in Skyward Sword:
Tumblr media
Second is that, yes, he’s falling towards a floating island, and that in itself is noteworthy, but he’s FALLING. There’s something either above him that he jumped off of, or a force that carried him high enough TO fall, and I doubt Nintendo’s encouraging magnesis flying.
So, there’s a few options: Loftwings making a return (which is unlikely, but a hope I have), something like Revali’s Gale boosting Link up for a cinematic shot, indicating that the corruption arm has that kind of power, or islands higher than the one shown here.
Now the island itself:
Tumblr media
In Skyward Sword, Skyloft looks like this:
Tumblr media
And (spoiler alert) we loose this island here over the course of the game:
Tumblr media
Now, it’s not a PERFECT 1:1 match, as most things between games aren’t, but a quick rotate and overlay shows it’s got the same kinds of shapes between the two. The same “W” shape along the eastern side, the same tiny island off the northeast point, the same relative edges.
Tumblr media
Now, I don’t know what happened to the plaza at South Skyloft, or the Knight’s Academy isle, but it could very easily be drift away from the central island.
Tumblr media
The presence of other islands through the clouds seems to support that theory. Now let’s look at Link here:
Tumblr media
The outfit is new. We haven’t, to my knowledge, seen one of this design in other games. My gut reaction to this image was “oh, we go back in time and we’re the first hero now!” because it’s vaguely reminiscent of Tapestry Hero.
Tumblr media
But upon closer inspection, that theory’s null and void. Under Link’s tunic in the image above, you can see that he’s still wearing the shorts he woke up in in the first game. So either Sheikah boxers haven’t changed in 10,000 years, or it’s taking place in present day. Jokes aside, I’m curious to know if the outfit he’s wearing is modeled after Tapestry Hero.
Next thing to point out is the obvious:
Tumblr media
Link’s arm here looks less prosthetic and more...withered, I almost want to say. The corruption here’s made his hand look frailer, and armored them up with Zonai patterns before it fades out at his shoulder. Based on how the tattoos look, I think they’re an artifact of the corruption taking hold.
Also, the belt here:
Tumblr media
Aesthetic purposes, or specific function? The presence of the second, smaller one on the side reminds me of Skyward Sword’s adventure pouch, which could be how the new game handles inventory size:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we’ve got another flying shot:
Tumblr media
It seems like he’s flying towards Ruined Skyloft, and you can see the bottoms of islands above it, possibly meaning that the sky serves as more than just a hub world like it did in Skyward.
Now let’s look at the paraglider he’s using. It’s new.
Tumblr media
This is how the paraglider looks in the original BOTW. It looks like we still have the Rito symbol in the center, but other than that, there’s a LOT of changes here.
Tumblr media
First off is the color. We’re now blue and gold. The shade of blue makes me think of the Kochi Dye Shop’s navy blue:
Tumblr media
So, possibly a dyeable paraglider?
The new pattern surrounding the Rito symbol makes me think that it’s combining the paraglider with Skyward Sword’s sailcloth:
Tumblr media
Other than that, there isn’t much else to say about the paraglider besides the handles looking like they’re made of bone. Craftable paragliders? God, I hope not.
Back to Link:
Tumblr media
Here we have him in different gear than the last shot. He’s wearing the snow boots, he has a shield with a stylized Eye of Truth looking upwards, and he looks like he’s carrying a traveler’s sword and an unknown bow. The presence of the bow makes me think that the shield here is a lower tier item, rather than this game’s Hylian Shield equivalent.
Now, let’s get a better look at the horizon:
Tumblr media
The trees here look a lot like the smaller trees you can find in Akkala, but there’s a distinct lack of red among them.
Tumblr media
Then it looks like we’ve got some ruins at the furthest isle.
Tumblr media
Whatever the rock formations are over there, they don’t LOOK natural.
Another thing I noticed is the bottoms of the islands.
Tumblr media
These look a little too geometric to be natural, too. Now, this one, I’m a little muddy on, because it COULD be a stylistic choice. But it also reminds me of the Shrines if you clip out of bounds:
Tumblr media
And a little bit of the dormant Gate of Time from Skyward:
Tumblr media
My money’s on the cube-like nature of the islands’ undersides being deliberate, rather than just a far-off render.
And then there’s this thing!
Tumblr media
What is it? It doesn’t look broken at all; look how nicely the roof(?) is kept. The ribbing on the sides makes me think it might be a Zonai thing, but the shape makes it difficult to figure out. A giant temple? An airship? A sloped coliseum? This thing haunts and vexes me.
Tumblr media
Our next shot is presumably from one of the islands, based on the color. Here we can see that there are definitely ruins all over the place. Link is in the same gear as before, so I won’t touch on him.
Tumblr media
This, however, has my interest. The design here has more geometric patterns--Zonai ruins?
Tumblr media
We’ve got another one off in the distance here. Sky checkpoints, like Sheikah towers?
Tumblr media
Now this guy here. There’s a LOT to look at. First off is the eye design, it’s the same sort of upward looking one that Link has on his shield in the previous shots.
Tumblr media
The energy that’s pulling this thing towards its base looks like the same green energy that surrounds the arm holding Gan in place in Trailer One:
Tumblr media
This stuff. That, plus the fact that the robot has to be pulled into its base rather than just existing, implies that either A: Link activates it himself, like a trial thing, or B: that the green energy here functions in the same way Malice does in the original BOTW.
Tumblr media
This pattern at its base is intriguing, too. I don’t recognize the gold symbol in the center, but the green around it reminds me of the portals from Twilight Princess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which, yes, everyone’s already said that the Twilight Princess patterns look like Zonai things. But another thing this weird dial thing reminds me of is from Lanayru Desert:
Tumblr media
On top of that, the color palette of this guy looks like that of the Lanayru Robots from Skyward:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BO2W robot on the left, Lanayru robot on the right. Given that Skyward is a lot more vibrant than other non-Toon Zelda games, I think this is a fair enough comparison to draw similarities from.
Tumblr media
And then we get a closer view of the sky ruins from the last shot. I don’t know if the geometric pattern in the corner is a deliberate carving, or wear from time, but since the pattern looks ALMOST mirrored around the corner, I’m going to go with the former.
Tumblr media
A better shot a few frames later. The robot has HANDS, which I do not like in any way shape or form. However, we get a better look at the sky ruins.
Tumblr media
We haven’t seen this style of stairs before, to my knowledge. The pedestal out front looks like a light source, and it has the same floral egg thing the robot above has on each shoulder; the eggs could easily be a power source for Zonai tech. And at the top of the stairs, we see a pedestal, backing up the theory that these ruins function as our new Sheikah towers.
Tumblr media
This is our next shot. Which...
Tumblr media
Unikoblins. Can we talk about that? UNIKOBLINS.
Tumblr media
Anyways, Link is here again in his old clothes. This is a very early game shot, because his right arm isn’t corrupted yet; this means we get to explore Hyrule before we embark on the main quest. Which gives rise to a question: Where’s Zelda?
The hopeful side of me wants to say that she’s a tutorial companion, like Navi or Tatl, at least for the beginning here. The pessimistic side of me thinks that she’s waiting for us at a predetermined location, and this is just part of getting to her.
Now the unikoblin structure itself is built on a Talus, meaning that the dev team at least intends to have more inter-monster interactions. But if you kill the Talus, does that mean that the base falls apart, or does it just drop down as a separate entity?
Tumblr media
Also, what are these background ruins? The one on the left looks like it’s a distinctly different style than the one on the right. It looks almost like a giant guardian arm.
Tumblr media
Our next shot is Link’s arm getting corrupted. Which, first of all, the effects look beautiful.
Now, we can see a corner of Link’s hip here, and we know that this is his right arm. So Link’s lying down here. Unconscious? Knowing how Zelda games like to start with Link waking up, probably. Although it looks like at least part of his shorts got an update.
Tumblr media
We can see what looks like circuits here. It looks a bit like the electricity puzzles you can find in the Divine Beasts and Shrines in the original.
Tumblr media
Then we’ve got these strange symbols.
Tumblr media
Whatever this circular stone he’s lying on is, it looks a lot like the Zonai puzzle from the “A Fragmented Monument” sidequest.
Tumblr media
This one that everyone thought was the Mirror of Twilight for years.
Our next shot is Link using the corruption powers against enemies:
Tumblr media
The spike ball itself looks solid; the question is, is this a duplication power, or a visualization of how the spike ball is set into motion?
Tumblr media
We see it barreling over a poor Unikoblin or two, but I’d like to turn your attention to the Moblin and the background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The moblins here have helmets, and the bases, while they carry the same design, look like they have more cause and effect in mind. The left base’s rock, for instance; that’s a lot bigger than the rocks we got to play with in the last game, and it looks like we can barrel anything in the screen over with it.
The helmet, though, concerns me a little bit. It looks natural rather than forged; like it’s the moblin’s horn, just very much deformed. Does it mean a harder enemy, or is it just for flavor?
Tumblr media
Our next shot is this strange flower thing. Note that Link’s right arm is perfectly fine in this shot, meaning that it’s still early game.
Tumblr media
This is what Link’s flamethrower looks like. And this:
Tumblr media
Is Zonai art.
So the question is, what IS the flamethrower? My first thought was that it’s either a new item in its own, or it’s a Sheikah Slate upgrade. The latter might sound a little far fetched, but Link in this game is right-handed, and in BOTW, he always held the slate in his LEFT hand when using it.
Tumblr media
We have more of the weird faded designs that we saw on the Sky ruins:
Tumblr media
And we’ve got some kind of pedestal or stage behind the ground flower thing:
Tumblr media
It looks like it’s either an altar or a grave, from what I can tell. The stairs aren’t the same design as the ones in the sky, and there aren’t any patterns on it.
More importantly, though, is that this place is underground. This could be a part of the game you’re required to go through, in order to get to Raisin Gan.
A few seconds later, though, we get our answer to what the flamethrower is!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s a shield!
Tumblr media
Off to the left side, we can see pillars with more weird scribblings towards the top. These match the Sky ruins’ pillar shape, with a narrow base and a wider top.
Our next scene is...weird.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see a puddle splash in reverse. It’s hard to tell if it’s actually water or not, but the design on the ground implies that it’s either been there for a long time, or that that’s a dedicated splash spot. And the quality and zoom makes me think that this is part of a cutscene. Return of the timeshift stones?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then see Link...surfacing out of the island? I don’t know how else to describe it. However, his arm is changed again, and glowing, meaning that this is a corruption power. And the “water” he rises out of here looks a lot like the puddle in the last clip.
We get a good look at the Zonai Lights:
Tumblr media
A Sky ruin that looks like it contains a room:
Tumblr media
And a glimpse of other isles’ ruins in the far distance.
Tumblr media
And then as the camera zooms out...
Tumblr media
We can place a location!
Tumblr media
We’re right over Thundra Plateau!
We also get a mildly better look at the back wall of the sky ruin, which looks to be some kind of table:
Tumblr media
The next scene is Hyrule Castle:
Tumblr media
The ground shakes and it starts to rise up. However, notice that the columns surrounding the castle are now missing.
Tumblr media
We’ve also got red sparks in the air, like we would have in a blood moon. However, due to the sky color, we can assume that this is a conscious decision by Gan himself, and that he isn’t drawing power from his surroundings.
Tumblr media
We then see that power bleeding out of the ground. It’s MUCH more red than Malice is, which has always been a kind of burnt pink-ish color.
Tumblr media
However, even though Ganon lifts the castle up, he doesn’t lift it very high.
Tumblr media
The castle’s about triple the height it was. But since we’re talking Skyloft levels of floating islands, this is still pretty ground-level. What’s interesting to me, though, is that in this shot, despite the game now being about sky islands that we should be able to see from ground level...there aren’t any here. This, to me, means that there’s going to be a sudden appearance of the isles in the sky, rather than them simply being accessible now.
And that’s the whole trailer! I have many questions.
My blog! If you have any opnions/questions/theories, feel free to drop an ask!
Part 2 is up! We missed a lot!
age of calamity trailer analysis
hey everyone and welcome to my shoddy chronological analysis of the age of calamity trailer. i’ve omitted some things that other people have already covered. this post is long and picture heavy.
0:31 memory #1 location, note the cannons. a garrison/fort/village at the right. likely mabe village from the map
Tumblr media
0:32 further down you can see another wall, this could likely be the hyrule garrison considering the location of mabe village
Tumblr media
0:34 interesting thing about the royal hyrulean architecture here, which we only see in a ruined state in botw itself, is the watchtower/turret over here on the right. we can also see flags on these stone pillars/posts, which could be the official hyrulean flag?
Tumblr media
0:40 fun fact, link is present in this scene, creeping in the background lol. still no champion’s tunic yet. because of the way i screencapped this, you can’t see mipha’s outfit, but she is in her zora regalia instead of her champion’s sash. therefore these scenes must be before the first memory in breath of the wild. i honestly can’t tell if these take place before or after the memories in the champion’s ballad in which zelda recruits the champions, though. we’ll just have to wait and see.
Tumblr media
0:43 same thing here, revali doesn’t have his champion’s scarf.
Tumblr media
0:44 man this picture has a lot going on but i think we can place it somewhere around the passeri greenbelt because of the large rock near castle town and the other turrets/watchtowers. again, notice there’s a lot of cannons, both on the far left and towards the right under death mountain.
Tumblr media
0:51 things that we didn’t need to know but nintendo showed us anyway #5273: the guardians are birthed from the holes
Tumblr media
0:53 the ring around the triforce behind king rhoam here is the gate of time musical notation design from skyward sword
Tumblr media
0:55 okay this is actually the shot that made me want to do an analysis in the first place. these are cannons and the first cannons i actively recognized in the trailer when i first watched it. you know what location in botw has a bunch of cannons like this? akkala citadel. there’s so much lore in game about akkala citadel (it was considered the last stronghold of the hyrulean kingdom) that i’d bet there must be a big fight at akkala citadel in age of calamity. i could be wrong, but the lighting here, the cannons, and the architecture all make me think this is akkala.
Tumblr media
1:03 i can’t really place this entirely but it looks like the breach of demise or possibly the tabantha frontier/canyon. these wooden gates are also in a few scenes, which is interesting. i wonder if they have a gameplay purpose, such as marking off areas for battles since this game is not open world. also, notice how mipha has her champion’s sash here.
Tumblr media
1:06 and how urbosa has her champion’s skirt as well. also, note all the yiga here. the yiga and the gerudo are known to have a bad relationship both before and during the events of breath of the wild, most of it related to the yiga trying to steal the thunder helm.
Tumblr media
1:13 right here behind daruk is the hylian coliseum, and behind the coliseum is the great plateau. i saw someone arguing that the great plateau was level with the rest of hyrule field prior to the calamity but you can clearly see here that the great plateau was most certainly still a plateau 100 years ago. again note daruk’s champion’s sash; this leads me to think that the gameplay portion with the champions playable will come after the story point where the champions are recruited (i.e. these sections occur after the events of the champion’s ballad).
Tumblr media
1:17 this scene in particular here confuses me. it looks like it’s a thunderspear from the green-yellow glow and the lightning but the shape is all wrong so i’m just??? new villain perhaps??? what i’m saying is, this weapon he’s fighting against doesn’t exist in the original breath of the wild, unless it’s just a shock arrow and the camera is tricking me. additionally, link is wearing the champions tunic here and finally has the master sword, which is the first time in the trailer he has either.
Tumblr media
1:18 this has been pointed out by others but this scene as well as the ones that follow take place inside each champion’s divine beast so yknow. yknow. *nintendo its been six years stop making me cry every night over this godforsaken video game holy f--*
Tumblr media
1:20 so my first thought here was: hey cool, hyrule castle town! because of the banners, architecture of the town inside the walls, and the gate and wall itself. but then the pine trees made me doubt because i don’t really remember if there were charred pine trees around the castle town gate in botw? also, link and zelda are on a hill here. there’s two options: this is a different gate to castle town (possibly the west gate), or this is a different town entirely (maybe the torin wetland or lake akkala because of the pine trees? [there are ruins under lake akkala, its unclear if this was caused by the calamity or not]) this theory seems more far-fetched though. i’m like 90% sure this is castle town.
Tumblr media
and that marks the end of my commentary/analysis on the trailer. i can’t wait for this game and learning more about hyrule pre-calamity!
What do you think happened to Skyloft after the events of Skyward Sword? Any miscellaneous thoughts about the Twili? The Picori? The Kokiri? What the hell is the Lost Woods and why does it do what it does? And why does the Lost Woods turn people into Skull Kids and Stalfos? What do you think Navi's fate was in the end of Ocarina? If you've seen majestically-fangirling 's posts about Zora anatomy, then you know how much of a nightmare it is, so thoughts? Favorite color? Also how are you today?
Hoo boy!  This is a real doozy.  Let’s break it down, shall we?
After the people of Skyloft moved the Surface, their home - which had been slowly crumbling apart for millennia, à la the smaller misc. islands we see floating about the sky - would eventually go on to become the home of the Oocca, who were able to keep the skyward isle afloat for much longer than was originally intended with their advanced technology.  Further, the piece of land that Skyloft was formed from created the very crater that later became Lake Hylia, and it is from Lake Hylia that we are able to reach the City of the Sky in Twilight Princess. (Also, somewhat related: the Wind Tribe we see in Minish Cap were descended from a group of Skyloftians who kept their origins close to their heart, and eventually sought to return to the sky from whence they came, going so far as to master wind magic in order to do so.  Huzzah!)
Twili don’t need food or water in order to survive!  They sustain themselves with their own magical power, as this was a necessary adaptation given that the Twilight Realm has no plant or wildlife.  When Zant tells Link and Midna that the Twili had resigned themselves to a “miserable half-existence,” this is the sort of thing he was referring to - sure, they can survive without food or water, but sometimes, and especially in the early days, the specter of hunger and thirst hung over them like a thick pall.  They also don’t cast shadows (Zant does after his binding with Ganondorf, same with Midna after Zelda’s sacrifice) or are affected by warmth or cold (they can feel it, it just doesn’t really faze them), and the reason only Midna and Zant are shown to be wearing clothes is because there is little to no material to make clothes from within the Twilight Realm (see again: no plant or wildlife), so only members of the royal family and other “important” Twili get access to the stuff.  Everyone else makes do with shadow clothes! (More on that here!)
I gotta admit I don’t have much on the Picori/the Minish, except that they are a type of fae who probably exist to some extent in (most of) the games.  They like to hide Rupees and other trinkets for people to find around Hyrule, but by the era of Breath of the Wild, their numbers have dwindled dramatically due to the Calamity.
The Kokiri are also a type of fae (whose outfits resemble the knight uniforms of Skyloft for a very specific reason, but I won’t get into that here) whose destiny varies wildly depending on the timeline we’re looking at; in the Adult Timeline, where Link vanished and the gods destroyed Hyrule as all knew it, we know that they grew to be much more reclusive, taking on their “true” forms à la the Koroks.  But in the Child Timeline, where Twilight Princess takes place, the Kokiri were able to watch the Hero of Time grow up, and through him were able to get a feel for what the outside world had to offer.  Y’know how in Peter Pan, all the Lost Boys eventually need to go back home so they can grow up and lead normal lives?  The Kokiri decide, on their own time, that they wanna be Just Like Link, so they go out into the world and Become Real People, which is why we don’t see hide nor hair of them in Twilight Princess.  And speaking of Twilight Princess, our friendly neighborhood rancher Fado claims he’s named after his great-great-grandmother on his grandpappy’s side.  Ohoho!
The Lost Woods are a place where all Lost Things wind up!  Hylia tries to seal away the entrance to Termina entirely after trapping Majora there?  Portal in the Lost Woods.  OoT Zelda tries to seal away the Temple of Time in the Child Timeline so no one can use it to enter the Sacred Realm, after learning of what happened in the Adult Timeline? Bam, now it’s in the Lost Woods.  In an old, old headcanon of mine, this was the place where the line between the Real World and the Dream World (the Dream World which is Totally Real, I swear, it’s how Link’s Awakening was able to happen at all) was as thin as it could possibly be, which is why the woods are as mysterious as they are - anyone who wanders there risks the possibility of losing themselves, as the Dream is very alluring but very misleading. Kokiri and their fairies, being fae, are immune to these effects - and Link is immune, too, having called the forest his home for so long.
This is gonna be the most ridiculous thing on this entire list, but Navi actually got sent into the future at the end of Ocarina of Time, which is why Link was never able to find her.  They do reunite eventually, but only after he had a daughter with Malon whom he named after her...and after he died and became the Hero’s Shade. Oof. (Look, I swear to the gods, I’ll explain the “sent into the future” thing in a separate post if someone really wants me to, but it’s really, really dumb.  Nonetheless, I’m gonna die on this hill.)
I actually haven’t seen that post, but I just found it and I’ll give it a read!  Zora anatomy is definitely, uh, out there.  (Read: fish tiddies.) But at least they’re weird enough that I can excuse the existence of this human-zora hybrid child!  Right?
Lastly, my favorite color varies depending on my mood, but I usually just stick to saying teal - and I’m doing pretty good!  Writing all this up definitely gave me a serotonin boost, at least.
This was a whole lot of fun - thanks for the ask!
hm, im a pretty casual gamer and i probably wont be able to actually play any other zeldas since the switch is my only console. My favorite tone is darker but with bits of hope but i also like light hearted things! My fave thing abt botw was the characters, how every npc was unique and had a different personality. I also loved the champions! I also liked the setting, that they failed and now had to try again. I also liked Link!! I thought his character was great! i wanna know more abt him!
My heart of hearts is SCREAMING at you to watch a let’s play/full playthru of Majora’s Mask. You can’t really do “cutscene movies” with Zelda like a lot of other games because fully-rendered cutscenes weren’t a thing til BOTW (and... neither was voice acting, for the record. BOTW/AOC is the only zelda with True Voice Acting xD)
BUT Majora’s Mask ticks a lot of your boxes. It’s probably the darkest Zelda game but there’s a lot of bittersweet to it? The synopsis is you’re basically trying to prevent the end of the world in this one specific town, and along the way you get to meet every single person in the town and learn about their entire lives. All the NPCs have stories, incredibly rich ones more often than not, and they all operate on set schedules. So there’s a 3 day, 24-hour cycle and you can mess with time, and you see them doing the same things in the same places at the same times, consistently. It’s really cool!
It’ll grab at your heart but for me, someone who can’t really handle dark/depressing media, there was never a point in MM where I felt like the story was devoid of hope. Things seem very catastrophic and you run around wondering how you can stop something as big as the end of the world but the whole game just kinda feels like you’re laying in a bed with your loved one while bombs go off outside. I cannot explain the tone, but I think you’ll love it. Both the 3DS remake and the original N64 MM look really nice, but I think the N64 version has a bit of a leg up because the low-poly rendering makes the creepy bits of MM extra creepy in a way the 3DS doesn’t.
(This game is also a sequel to Ocarina of Time, but do know you literally do not need to know anything about OOT to play it. The game gives you everything pretty much immediately.)
If you like Link specifically I’d also say Skyward Sword would be a fun one for u!! It’s on the more Lighthearted side tone wise but it’s the game that gives Link the most personality. He’s intended to be a blank slate because the idea is to project yourself & your motivations onto him (they named him for this, he’s the link between the player and the world) but a few times they’ve veered away from that and decided to kinda give him his own feelings and thoughts.
Skyward Sword is about the first Link ever really. Back in the timeline before a lot of Zelda Lore would come into play. And instead of living in this vast, sprawling kingdom, him & Zelda are just childhood besties about to graduate high school. The game literally opens up on their equivalent of, like, prom night sfdgfsghgf.
But what’s cool about Skyward Sword is that because Link has this incredibly emotional connection to Zelda right off the bat, he spends the game pretty much frothing at the mouth intent to protect & save her once the Plot kicks in. There’s never a scene in the game where you can’t see everything he’s feeling painted directly on his face, which is not actually that common for other Links! The chemistry between him and literally every other character really thrives because of this. While some people probably enjoyed the freedom to make their own interpretations of Link, in Skyward it’s really clear what his relationships with everyone are, and you get to learn what kind of person he really is much more easily than in, like BOTW where you have to go digging through diary entries to find out anything about him.
Skyward Sword, being the first chronological game in the timeline, also just has a lot of awesome lore for the franchise as a whole. Like you get to see where the master sword comes from!!!! its actual origin!!! and you get to learn about why Link and Zelda and Ganon keep getting reincarnated and living out this same battle in more or less different ways throughout the ages. You get to learn stuff you didn’t think even mattered, like why there’s a red bird on the Hylian shield, or why Link wears that stupid green outfit in other games. You get to learn wtf Zelda was talking about in BOTW when she talks about the sword “having a voice” and “speaking to her.” Lots of cute stuff to set the tone for the series.
my LAST recommendation is Twilight Princess but the conundrum here is I HAVE NEVER BEATEN THAT ONE because every time I try I just can’t get into it. but do not let my trepidation steer you away it is very much a Me Problem, TP is widely considered one of the best Zeldas of all time. It, like Majora’s Mask, is darker-toned, and from what I can tell has a Pretty Emotive Link as well who has a whole life in the tiny village he starts out in, so I think you’ll probably like that one too! I just cant do my long rambling about it dfghdfghfggf
ANYWAYS hopefully this helps. skyward sword & twilight princess have  pretty comprehensive “cutscene movies” but you really gotta watch an LP for Majora to get the full scope of the game. Majora is ALL about the sidequests. If you want reccs for who to watch I’m always gonna say Chuggaaconroy because the respect he gives to the games he plays & their tone is unparalleled & also he’s autistic so you know you’re getting infodumping about the lore at every fucking turn which I LIVE for.
I am so happy you’re enjoying Zelda and hopefully this ask inspires you to dive in!!!! Remember there’s no wrong way to do it! These games are made to be accessible at any point haha. Keep me updated if u want, I’m super excited to learn what you discover!
Here's the digital drawing I promised, it's of Majora's Mask in their human form and in Modern era Hyrule. They're actually a bit of a redesign of a base drawing from 2016(Don't judge, it was years ago). I also made two of Majora's outfits before the modern era. Anyways, here's the bio and description. Keep in mind that there's gonna be some stuff based on Zelda canon but there's also stuff that are non-canon and made for RP purposes and personal enjoyment only, so don't take it seriously. But you're more than welcome to draw my version of Majora if you want, just remember to credit me. This also took hours to upload due to getting carried away with the backstory here.
Majora, Born "Tsukiyomi Majora" and formally called "Court Witch Majora", was a demon sorcerer who once lived peacefully in the Demon Realm prior to the events of "Skyward Sword". They once served the Merry-Go-Round royal family as their Court Witch before Demon King Demise took the throne, and is a family friend to them and Demise's four daughters. Unfortunately, when the Demon Realm fell due to Malladus' recklessness, Majora was gravely injured during the destruction and ended up falling into the primitive Termina through a wormhole and became a mask by a member of the ancient tribe. Consumed by their hatred and MALICE from the incident and being used for hexing, they snapped under the weight and became the most evil and cruel being who nearly brought Termina to it's end, infamously named: "Majora's Mask", before they were defeated by the current Link's ancestor; the Hero of Time. They, alongside Zant, currently reside in New Clock Town as a resident hexer after receiving a Mud Golum body by Veran.
~Technical Information~ Japanese: ムジュラ Romaji: Mujura Other Names: Tsukiyomi Majora(birth name), Court Witch Majora(former title), Majora's Mask(Infamous name), Parasite(Zant), Little Monster(Link), Aunt Jojo(Beelzebub and Lucifer) ~Biographical Information~ Born: Centuries before "Skyward Sword" Age: Ancient(physically in their mid-late 20's in Demon and Mud Golum forms) Classification: Demon(till catastrophe), Mask(till "Majora's Mask"), Mud Golum(currently) Gender: Genderless(currently) Sexual Orientation: Asexual Hair Color: Red Eye Color: Green Affiliation(s): Demon Realm(place of birth/formally), Termina(currently), Ancient tribe(formally), Clock Town/New Clock Town(currently), Court Witch(formally), Hexer(currently)
History and Personality
As a Demon
They were said to be a eccentric yet talented, charming, and funny demon sorcerer in the Demon Realm, thus earning their reputation, but is also criticized for being childish and bratty when things don't go their way, regardless, they were once a sane individual. In the Demon Realm, Majora was actually close friends with Queen Mirai Merry-Go-Round and Royal Chef Bellum, but is rather cautious around Demise due to his "strange behavior", they're also rivals with Demise's aid Malladus. They also have a soft spot for Demise and Mirai's daughters, Beelzebub, Lucifer, Aku no, and Karma, even acting as a surrogate "Mother" to them, and often hang out by Majora's favorite tree(It's rumored that the four remains are the masks the daughters created with them, and the tree is the same tree from the moon).
Later, Majora have grown to greatly despise both Demise and Malladus, the former for killing his own daughters to secure his throne, and the latter for foolishly destroying the Demon Realm and injuring them, both of their actions were one of the few factors that pushed Majora over the edge. During the destruction of the Demon Realm, they fell into one of the expanding wormholes that lead to worlds outside the realm, this one landed Majora in a primitive Termina.
There, they witnessed a group of humans celebrating a festival with four giant beings known as the Four Giants(these people will later build "Clock Town", and the festival will later become "The Carnival of Time"). They tried seeking their help but were too weak to move. Soon enough, a "man with white hair"(Whom the Fierce Deity's Mask's appearance would be based on) walked by and asked what happened, Majora explained what happened to them and told him that they'll die soon because their injuries are so severe. The man, feeling pity for the Demon, healed their soul with a "soothing song" with a instrument and their body was turned into a tree.
As a Mask
The man took the tree to his home and carved it into a mask based on Majora's original body, he made a small grave for them in his home, Majora had gave the man gratitude for giving them peace. Unfortunately, the white haired man died from old age years later, and a stranger walked into the home and found Majora's Mask. He examined the Mask and discovered that it contained all of Majora's magic, Majora tried asking what he was doing but their voice has fallen on deaf ears. The man took Majora to a settlement of land belonging to the ancient tribe that specializes in hexes and claimed that he created Majora's Mask to house magical powers, Majora called him out on his bull, but was ignored again.
The tribe began to use Majora for hexing rituals, they tried to stop them but was once again ignored, this continued for years causing Majora to slowly grow insane from the constant exposure of the hexes, even becoming desensitized to the twisted curses they created. During this time, Majora was left alone with memories of their past life, remembering what Demise and Malladus had done to them, their family, and their home back to the day, causing Majora to grow angry and unstable by the day, even developing a bloodthirsty hatred towards humanity for using Majora for their selfish gain, and blaming the white haired man for turning into a mask, thinking it was all a trick when really he was just trying to help. Regardless, they only have the memories of Mirai's four daughters to keep them sane. Until one day, there was one hexing ritual became so great that it caused them to lose memories of Mirai's four daughters, leaving them as a empty husk fueled by anger and hatred.
This acted as the breaking point for Majora and they snapped, their anger turned into rage, and their rage turned into MALICE, the very thing that plagued the Demon Realm for so long, and used it to get back at the tribe that used them by possessing a human. They eventually used their concealed powers and started destroying the tribe's home and it's inhabitants, developing a sadistic glee and enjoyment for chaos and destruction in the process. Laughing insanely, they happily proclaimed that they want all of humanity to die by their hands, and threatened to drag the moon from orbit to do that. But the surviving tribe members, fearing such a catastrophe, used a spell to put them in their place, knocking them out cold. The surviving tribe members then sealed Majora away, preventing misuse and the world from ending.
Pre-"Majora's Mask"
Centuries later, long after the tribe disappeared, Majora's obsession with destroying the world grew, while also trying to remember who the "four people" were. Then one day, a smiling man with a backpack full of masks(Happy Mask Salesman) arrived to Majora's prison, proclaimed that they're the ancient tribe's sacred artifact, and that they would make a proper addition to his collection, taking them away. Majora sees this as a chance to get back at humanity and tries coursing the salesman into wearing them, only to discover that he's too strong-hearted and sound of mind to be corrupted, and instead made the salesman pass out from trying to resist Majora.
Not long after, a Skull Kid and his fairy companions arrived out of curiosity, sensing that the imp isn't as strong in heart and mind as the salesman, they coursed him into wearing them and succeeded, giving Majora a new body and Skull Kid their tremendous power. During their that time, Majora learned that the Skull Kid was once friends with the Four Giants of Termina, and used that as leverage to push him into creating chaos and curses throughout the world and trap the Giants using the four masks the four daughters supposedly created, first starting with the Ikana Valley, then Snowhead, then Clock Town, then Great Bay, and then Woodfall, at some point they murdered the Deku Butler's son and took his soul, turned Kafei into a child just to satisfy their twisted sense of humor, and tried pulling the moon from it's orbit again to destroy Termina, creating a hideous looking face in the process.
Afterwards, Majora heard the Skull Kid crying and created a mental version of the tree on the moon to confront him. The Skull Kid cried that this isn't what he wanted, he just wanted his friends back, Majora berated them for being weak, telling him that they had all but abandoned him and caused mischief in the past in retaliation. While the Skull Kid had admitted that, they told Majora that they're hurting and murdering people who had nothing to do with both of their torment. Majora doesn't care, they just wanted all of Termina to die, and whither the Skull Kid likes it or not, they're dragging everyone with them to do so, thus leaving him trapped in the mental world. Soon enough, the Hero of Time arrives to the Lost Woods, and the events of "Majora's Mask" takes place.
Post-"Hyrule Warriors"
After being defeated, their soul was banished from their body and lost all of their magic, causing them to be even more angry. They spent more centuries roaming Termina and all the lands outside of it as a evil spirit, watching the worlds as they grew and watching the Hero of Time's descendants from afar, eventually they watched the events of "Hyrule Warriors" take place, at on point they met the Usuper King Zant and shared a lot of things in common with him. After which, they found the descendant of the Hero of Time(Warrior!Link) and snapped again, they began haunting his nightmares in an effort to drive him to insanity as revenge until they were sought out by Beelzebub, who recognized them as Majora.
Realizing that Majora has lost their memories of their past life, Beelzebub used her Black Box(a device that can only be used by Demon Gods) to try and restore it, while also reviewing what has happened to Majora during these last eons. Majora felt their first tears upon gaining their memories back, feeling like the daughters would never forgive them for trying to destroy Termina, while Beelzebub agreed what they did was unforgivable and chastised them for it, Beelzebub was willing to help them recover and get them a new body, but would require bribery. She took Majora to the newly revived Veran who gave them a new Mud Golum body, but was told that their new body would not possess any feelings of hunger nor fullness no matter how much they ate or drank, and that they would not bare children because the body's interfile.
Afterwards, Beelzebub took Majora to the Skull Kid they possessed and forced them to apologize to the imp, but was understandably rejected. After which, Majora began to hide out in Termina and the Lost Woods again since they have nowhere to go, but was warned to not cause anymore trouble in that world again like the last time. Because they had no magic, they're forced to use other means to gain it such as potions and food consumption, at some point they found their old Mask body being guarded by the Great Deku Tree in the Lost Woods, but was disappointed to learned that it doesn't contain any magic, but took it with them as it was their old body.
"Breath of the Wild" and Afterwards
Majora has gained a reputation in Termina as a Hexer, but is also criticized for being childish and sadistic. Soon enough, the Guardians, autonomous machines created by the Sheikah, entered Termina and started causing mass mayhem and destruction through the world much to Majora's sadistic glee. But that glee stopped when one of the Guardians started targeting them and shot at them, not having any strong magic to stop them, they lost their right leg during the carnage. Thankfully the Four Giants were called upon and the Guardians were deposed of, Majora was founded by Beelzebub and was taken to a doctor to be given a new prosthetic leg made from dark wood and Sheikah tech.
They were surprised to know that the humans and even the Giants would allow them to stay in Clock Town to recover after what Majora tried doing to them, Beelzebub explained that it's because they're compassionate to those in need, no matter how cruel the person is. She then told them that if Majora want to continue to stay in Town, they outta help them rebuild the town, Majora caved in and agreed, saying that they needed a roof over their head anyways, they participated hesitantly in the rebuild of Clock Town, now named "New Clock Town", using the Sheikah tech they salvaged from the broken Guardians.
After 100 years, they met the new hero(Wild!Link) and Princess Zelda who stumbled upon Termina, and teased Link ruthlessly, but was easily bested by him much to their chagrin. After a while, Aku no destroyed the worlds with her Key, but teamed up with Beelzebub to restore it and defeat MALICE. Once the worlds are restored, they joined Beelzebub and her friends in searching for the old Demon Realm. At some point they returned to Hyrule and Termina, during the Modern Era, they met up with Zant once more after having been banished from the Twilight Realm for his past crimes, they allowed Zant to live with them in Termina, becoming their roommate and partner in crime.
Trivia and Personality traits
- The name Majora may have been inspired by the ancient Brazilian society of a similar name, Marajoara, a culture that created masks, some of which look strikingly similar to Majora's Mask, this may also explain Majora's human appearance. The Japanese name "Majou" means "Witch" in Japanese, hence Majora's evil magic and previous occupation as a Court Witch.
- Majora follows a Japanese moon motif here; their family name is an alternate name to "Tsukuyomi", the Japanese god of the Moon, and their pigtails in their Mud Golum form resemble rabbit ears, which references the Japanese Moon rabbit. Both of them references Majora's infamous deed of dragging the moon from it's orbit in an effort to destroy Termina by crushing it.
- Despite being genderless, Majora prefers appearing female due to hearing the human belief that "all women are innocent little angels" when they know it's not true, thus uses this to lull people into a false sense of security and get away with things.
- Majora was described as very beautiful in their original Demon form, even having several suitors coming onto them because of this. But they turned them all down, saying they have better things to do than be tied down by marriage, though they admitted to liking Zant, they only see him as a partner and nothing more. They also don't seem to mind being infertile since they're asexual and don't like raising kids, Mirai's daughters being the only exception however.
- While they got their memories back and their malice exorcised, they still act as sadistic and childish as they were before due to the over exposure of hexing and games, becoming just as twisted as the tribe's hexers. They also gained the ability create small versions of the moon to throw at people.
- While displeased about having to consume human food and drinks for health, magic, energy, and climate resistance at first, they eventually became a bit of a Epicurean due to developing strong taste buds. They admitted that their favorite drink is Chateau Romani due to it's delicious flavors and great magical potential.
BACKGROUND.
evelyn charlotte banks was born june fourth , 1930 and was given the dark gift in the early fifties ( so you’ll definitely notice some call backs to that time period ). she has grown and developed and adapted throughout time better than most , but you can take the sock hop away from the girl but not out of her. she remembers her life before , but doesn’t dwell on nor even really miss it.
she grew up in your rather classic straight lace upper middle class suburban family and community with her perfect nuclear family. the town they lived in was small , close knit , and everyone knew everyone but especially who evelyn’s family was.
she was in a lot of pageants growing up and was even platinum blonde for most of her human life , because she was so afraid her red hair would keep her from being successful.
when she was eighteen years old with big shiny dreams of silver screens , luxury , and eyes all on her was all she could think of. she left her family and their small generational hometown in georgia for bigger , better things in none other than hollywood.
she was on her way ,  so desperate to be in the movies and be like marilyn monroe but shortly after is when she became ensnared by darkness and evil.  she wasn’t very successful at all in the beginning so , she started wearing tighter , shinier outfits when she was on stage when suddenly she started getting actual recognition.
she wasn’t acting like she had intended , but it turned out her voice was good enough to land her plenty of lounge singing gigs in multiple joints. it was one particularly dark , seedy , dangerous joint that only opened once the sun set completely and closed upon the sun rise that she finally started to get propositioned to do so-called ‘ film gigs. it was also in this place where she met him for the first time.
( tw: cult ment. ) her maker is very old and before she ever knew he was anything more than a handsome older gentleman she was fully under his control. he was something of a cult leader who for the most part glamoured his ‘ followers ‘ , but that was never necessary with charlotte. she was thoroughly and completely in love with her maker , she even ‘ married ‘ him and lived on his compound.
( tw: rape ment. , assault ment. ) it wouldn’t be for a few more years that he would finally turn her ,and only after he found her brutally beaten and raped for nothing more than a snuff film. her maker found her on the verge of death and wasted no time in saving her life by bestowing his dark gift upon her.
( tw: murder ment. ) to say that lottie felt indebted to and fell in love with her maker to the point of obsession was an understatement , she would do anything and everything he asked of her including murder not in the name of feeding.
( tw: death ment. ) the films she was in were kept in the dark underbelly of the industry and no one was none the wiser , not to mention everyone thought she was dead after her last film.
so , she eventually did make her debut in film and was even on the silver screen finally. this only lasted for as long as she could get away with not aging before eventually she disappeared off the radar with her maker. the two traveled far and wide for a long time , but eventually went their separate ways even though lottie wanted nothing of the sort her maker commanded she live her own life without him now.
( tw: murder ment. ) she has since become something of a murderer ?? she prefers to call herself an assassin but it’s rare anyone actually pays her to murder anyone. you could even call her  a serial killer if you take into account that her victims are almost always men of the unsavory variety , but she has two sides to her personality and it’s not like she’s full maniac.
ETC.
if you know what yandere means she fits that description very well , and if you don’t know what it means well:  a common term in otaku fandom , a yandere is a person ( usually female ) romantically obsessed with someone to the point of using violent means to get them in their arms. often can be seen featured with a sharp weapon and a psychotic grin.
pretty much she comes off as this sweet , lovely , beautiful woman with lots of talent but in reality she can switch that off in an instant and literally kill you without any hesitation if it benefits her or someone she loves.
anyway she has been in estonia for only a bit now , but how long is flexible. she probably likes the scenery and the supernatural presence , but she’s honestly not a country mouse at all.
also not that she needs money , but there is very little she loves more than attention and money. she works at a club as live entertainment on occasion , singing or stripping or bartending or occasionally doing , mostly for the attention but also if she’s in need of money.
Chapter 4.14: 6.05 Years
Year 7, day 18: Great news is welcome after holding back the reinvigorated forces of darkness for a year and a half.
A large ship, one of a scale no one’s seen since Tetra’s departure, arrived in the Great Sea today. It flew a pirate flag and read “Ocean Queen” on its hull, but its cannons only opened fire on the warships threatening Windfall. The moment I learned Bolt and Timothy were sailing alongside it, I was on the wind in a heartbeat.
I arrived to find a crowd gathering around the dock the large ship had landed at, landing at the back. As I was now at least twenty-one years old as a Rito, I was tall enough to see over them. They were looking at a group standing on the boat’s near side, seeming to be made entirely of diverse and attractive woman. At the head of them was a tan blonde Hylian, about eighteen years old, wearing a sea captain’s coat and a tri-pointed hat.
“Avast ye hearties! I be known as Captain Scuttledy, and this be me crew of fearsome all-female pirates!”
It took me a couple moments to get over the terrible fake pirate accent before I realized it was Tooty.
Cody managed to break the crowd up and get them to go back home, allowing us to get on board so we could find out where she’d been, what had she been doing, and why the heck her name for this world was a pseudo-pun that demanded to be put out of its misery.
The first bit of news is that Maria was with her, as a short-for-her-age and plump Hylian. Tooty had actually received the option of choosing where to start the decade in. Upon learning that Maria was in a completely different world from everyone else, she chose the World of the Ocean King as well to avoid leaving a squadmate alone, and outfitted her boat with the ability to travel between the two at will. It had taken so long to make use of said ability because she wanted to explore every inch of that world, as much as she could, before going to explore another one.
That led to the second bit of news: she had found one of the Power Gems, and recognized the place the crimson map currently pointed towards.
I knew the plot of Phantom Hourglass involved some creature named Bellum, who was the villain and final boss of the game. He and his Ghost Ship (seemingly no relation to the Ghost Ship in the Great Sea, I hope) had terrorized the waters about two and a half years after arrival, kidnapping people and feeding on their life force. It came after Tooty’s ship. A lot.
“Apparently I’m secretly royalty here and have a lot of latent life force?” Tooty had told me. “I don’t really get it. I couldn’t follow Ochus’ explanation at all.”
Maria did, thankfully; apparently, not long before the Great Flood, the Hyrule royal family bloodline branched, and that branch moved out of the kingdom and into the World of the Ocean King – or whatever it may have been before that, if it was anything like the Great Sea. Even though this branch broke away from the cycle of reincarnation of the princess as the goddess Hylia (thank you, Chuggaaconroy’s Let’s Play of Skyward Sword), it still possessed a fair good bit of magical power. They didn’t know anything about anyone else that might be on that branch – for all they knew, she was the last of them, and they didn’t feel like looking more into it.
In any case, several months ago, Link and Tetra were carried into the World of the Ocean King by the Ghost Ship, and Bolt somehow managed to follow. A rip-roaring adventure involving amnesic fairies, charismatic cowardly helmsmen, and the most despised dungeon in Zelda history ensued. Bolt was second-banana to Link in his quest to rescue Tetra, but he didn’t seem to mind that much, just enjoyed participating. Tooty’s crew had approached Link’s ship with intention of attack, but ceased hostilities once she saw Bolt and became allies with them, providing some maps of the sea as they had available. After Bellum was destroyed, Bolt remained with Tooty and Maria while Link and Tetra were returned to their original world by Ochus (who was, in fact, the Ocean King for which the temple was named).
Also, praise the goddesses, “Scuttledy” was just something she came up with to sound more like a pirate. Her actual birth name in this world was L’ourse (the branch had apparently abandoned the tradition of naming every princess “Zelda”). Maria had kept her name.
I explained the delicate situation going on here in the Great Sea as best I could, hoping its emphasized importance would convince L’ourse to not just run off to explore the Great Sea for the next four years, and if she could come to Firma Fortress tomorrow after her crew has rested so we could make plans, that would be great. We really need to get on the same page here and assess what gear L’ourse and Maria have; Zorro, for all his smarts, never bothered to memorize their purchases, and Elmily had forgotten herself. Being the only one with perfect memory sucked sometimes.
Year 7, day 19: God dammit.
I guess she just loves being a pirate captain that much.
I hope she doesn’t mind me using the Gossip Stone she slipped into my pocket yesterday to yell at her. She said it’ll just be like a couple months to do a surface run and get a whole sea chart together, and if someone goes wrong she can just call me over it, everything will be fine. Boy, she’s new to this whole “not tempting fate” thing.
Fine, she can do that, but no smooches for a month afterwards. ...OK, one because I missed her, but that’s it.
