what i like especially about the pronouns in the goblin emperor is that this language doesn't just have the T-V distinction (aka informal vs. formal second-person pronouns, in this case 'thou' vs. 'you'), it also has informal and formal first-person pronouns. having BOTH of these distinctions in the same language lets you fine-tune your tone by mixing and matching. with only one axis of formality, when you use informal pronouns, are you being familiar in an intimate way, or in an insolent or dismissive way? when you use formal pronouns, are you being polite or standoffish? you can't tell just from the pronouns; there's ambiguity. but a language where you can use a formal first-person pronoun in the same sentence as an informal second-person pronoun allows you to distance yourself (via the formal first) while also being familiar (via the informal second), thereby achieving the conversational tenor known to linguists as Fuck Thee Specifically.

if you're a fic writer and you're worried about not detailing things enough, rest assured: there are no thoughts behind my eyes when an outfit is described, I never know what position the characters are having sex in I picture whatever comes to mind, I respectfully skip elaborated plot or long inner dialogue :) I just want the cuddles and niceties

You know what gets me about people who complain that The Chosen's Jesus is "too nice"? They're conveniently ignoring who Jesus is being nice to. They're either making a point not to mention (or they do, which is a real yikes) that Jesus is spending a lot of time around sinners, around the downtrodden, around people whom life has kicked in the shins multiple times. These are the people you want Jesus to berate for their sins? These are the people against whom you want the Lion to bare his claws? If you're eager to see him verbally take down the socially empowered self-righteous a few pegs, yeah, me too! But those are not the people Jesus is hanging around most of the time in the show.

And he's not saying there's nothing these people he loves need to repent for.

DP x DC: Dan

So I have a lot of thoughts about Dan, and just so we're clear I haven't read the new comic yet so not sure how the new material affects his character

Dan is a character that in DPxDC is see being just casually there... which is wild in context of his character because he was like suuuuper evil. Like i get liking his character and wanting to include him, but it rarely makes sense, sometimes it does, but man we love to do a handwavy "after his redemption arc" thing without actually talking about his redemption arc

So, let's give him a redemption arc, and lets make it get pretty gay

So stages of grief, I'm going to outright misuse it intentionally so don't tell me I'm using it wrong, I am well aware it is about coming to terms with your own death. Let's say in ultimate enemy, he was in the stage of Anger. He was angry. Angry at himself, at the world, at the stupid ghosts that messed up his life, he was angry and he took that out on everyone. Now here he is, his family is alive, his friends are alive, and he still is angry, but at himself. He can't go back to them, he's literally a whole other person than the Danny they know

So self destructive spiral. He's hard partying, hard drinking, waking up in a random gutter in Gotham, and doing it all again. He might also be dabbling in other illicit substances. The point is, if he wasn't already dead his behavior would lead to a quick grave

So we have this miserable, sad sack of a man who has done terrible things regularly abusing alcohol(and maybe more)

Now there's another character that had a similar issue. One Red Arrow turned Arsenal and his heroin addiction...

So who better to find Dan than the same man that got Roy sober and sponsored him?

That's right, Waylon Jones aka Killer Croc

To large, beefy, grumpy men with goodness hidden inside them bonding, maybe falling in love? all while Waylon helps Dan work through his emotional baggage and get clean

it has everything:

angst, emotions, bonding, gay, and potentially a happy ending for two former villains

Taemin fans are in apocalypse mode. I'm over here remembering how badly Advice was snubbed at year end. We're expecting the powers that be to change, and that just isn't going to happen. An artist doing these kinds of concepts, that are heavily androgynous and not mainstream in terms of sex appeal or thematically, is just not going to win popularity contests like this.

I say this as JK bias (hanging on by a thread here), but get ready for Golden, the album with 50 songs, the majority of which are useless remixes meant to drive up Billboard numbers, to be hailed album of the year. Industry is about highest profits and you pat my back, I'll pat yours. Taemin is patting no one's back but his own. 💀

Btw I got a call from Paypal this morning, which sounded a helluva lot like an automated message (a female voice spoke in English, but it sounded distant, almost robot-like). And this voice said something similar to "we have received a request to withdraw money/funds from your Paypal account" (the requested amount was around a hundred-something) and "if you want to cancel it, press 1".

I hung up immediately. The phone number on my screen showed (+359) and "Bulgaria". I'm Finnish.

After ending the call, I immediately googled the message that I had heard on the phone, and it seems like a lot of Paypal users have gotten similar emails from 'Paypal' (I'm no stranger to such scam emails myself), but none of them mentioned a phone call. So I searched for that number and couldn't find it—or at least nothing that suggests that it's 'potentially harmful'.

I thought about reporting it to PayPal (still might), but somehow I doubt that'll do anything. I also checked my Paypal account activity in case of any new suspicious activity and transferred my money to another bank account (not linked with PPL) just in case.

I'm sure it was just a phishing attempt and nothing serious happened because I didn't respond, but you really can't be too careful these days.

Anyway, if you use Paypal and get emails or phone calls like this, don't answer them. Don't give them any information. Just hang up and delete those emails and/or mark them as spam. If you're not sure if they're legit, go to the Paypal official website and contact their support. They should know.

it's a good movie 👍 honestly there's not much I can say on it that hasn't already been said by people who are far more eloquent and analytical than i am. it's ridiculously multilayered, incredibly fun, and has one of the strongest and most sincere emotional cores of any film I've ever seen. i'm not a film guy by any means, but it's a work that I can tell was made with an incredible amount of passion and willingness to play with its medium. there's a reason it has reams and reams of essays written about it - it fucking deserves it. go watch it if you haven't already
