Happy Holidays everybody! I hope everyone is having a wonderful season! Since I recently got an ask about my personal reqs for where to start with batman, as a Christmas gift to me and y'all I'm finally making a curated list of my favorite batman media! This is 100% skewed to me, it's essentially just a list of all the batman stuff I've consumed, but I might throw in a few others for folks with different tastes! Also, most of these can be found on HBOmax as of now, but I'm including links to where you can watch online where possible! See you under the cut for a very, VERY long guide! Enjoy!
TV!
Hands down, the definitive piece of batman TV is Batman: The Animated Series. Soooo much iconic batman stuff was coined in this show. Also, it has hands down the best characterization of Bruce himself imo. If you're getting into Batman due to dadfred & babybat, here's a list of standout episodes for you!
Beware the Grey Ghost: A whole episode about Bruce's childhood special interest. You even get to see actual baby Bruce!
Eternal Youth: Absolutely precious Alfred episode, with Ivy as the villain no less. Sooooo many adorable moments, like, I don't even wanna spoil it. Just watch it.
Heart of Ice: For one, an absolutely excellent episode of television, and also a tooonnn of cute Alfred and Bruce moments!! Real dad moments for sure.
Harley's Holiday: 100/10 episode in general, and full of Harley and Bruce moments!!
The Lion and the Unicorn: Another Alfred focused episode!! Bruce Dick and Al being famiwy...
I have more, but those are a good place to start. Have a fave villain? Watch all their eps!! Discover new ones! Watch it from the beginning! Watch around and see what floats your boat. There's a redesign in season 3 (The New Batman Adventures) and they bring in a littler robin, Tim Drake. Warning for TNBA in general though, they tease at some really uncomfortable relationships here and there. But overall it has a lot to offer!
After btas I started on Justice League (2001)! I super love it, I adore the other members of the league so much and there's plenty of interesting stories. Justice League Unlimited is great too! Fantastic Bruce/Diana stuff, even though I'm not big on the ship their interactions are beyond precious. These are ensemble pieces so they're not all bats, but they're highly recommended if you're interested!
For some quick silly adventures, Justice League Action is fantastic! It's super funny and cute. There's plenty of batman centric episodes, and it's super lighthearted and fun! No robins or alfred in any of the Justice Leagues (very sparcely in JL/JLU) though, unfortunately. Speaking of silly fun batman shows: Batman the Brave and the Bold is a total blast! There's soooo many heroes in it, if you like any other DC characters there's a good chance they appear!
I just recently got into The Batman (2004), and it's really growing on me! The first season especially is really creative and cool. It's a younger take on batman, and it has seeerrious early 2000s boy/Ben ten/bionicles energy lol, but if that's nostalgic for you you'll LOVE it.
If you like adult cartoons, Harley Quinn is pretty good and funny! Of course it's about Harley and her gang over the bats, and the first season especially can get kinda ick in the adult cartoonyness, but by the third season it gets great (VERY good Bruce stuff in the third season! Honestly in all the seasons). Overall I definitely think it's worth a watch. It is not appropriate for kids though, make sure to look up warnings! If you're especially sensitive to gore/violence maybe skip it.
I haven't watched much of these, but I've heard good things if live action is your style! Gotham follows the villains and older generation before Batman came along. Supposedly very good Alfred and Bruce content, with kid Bruce! For my Alfie lovers, Pennyworth follows the adventures of Alfred along with the Waynes, taking down conspiracies back in England during the 60s. As completely up my alley as those sound, they're not really my thing because they are pretty violent, so beware!
Movies!
Starting off with animated movies, the btas movies come very highly recommended! Especially Mask of the Phantasm! I was super not excited for the romance plot, but it 1000% won me over, it's fantastic. Lots of young Bruce stuff (like early early 20s), which is wildly endearing, and very good dadfred moments!! The Mystery of the Batwoman isn't as great, but it's good fun. Sub-Zero is really good if you like Mr.Freeze! For The Batman 2004, there's the Batman vs Dracula! It is wild but so much fun!
On the animated movies front - Batman and Robin: Return of the Caped Crusaders and Batman vs Two Face are absolutely delightful. They're based on the 1960s Batman show, and they go all in on the campy goofy energy!! They're such a good pick me up if you're having a rough day.
As for live action movies, I honestly cannot recommend the 1990s Batman movies enough. Yes, they don't have a great reputation among mainstream comics fans, but they're straight up just wrong. Batman Forever and Batman and Robin are some of the most fun batman content ever created! There is so much creativity and energy and love in these movies, they are the definition of a good time. Absolutely guaranteed to provide childlike wonder, 1000/10.
If you're into the more gritty stuff, The Batman (2022). It's a cool new take on Bats, I think it's an interesting direction artistically. Once again violence isn't super my thing, but I appreciated the Alfred moments and Bruce's potent autism swag. Also, though it's probably a genuinely good movie, I am physically unable to take anything seriously and really enjoyed watching it ironically (there are so many serious moments that land as... pure comedy). Though please be sure to look up trigger warnings first, it's a lot.
Comics!
Full disclosure, I'm not a big comic book reader "^^ I really just read the comic versions of the shows I like and a few miscellaneous others I run into. Here's a list of some of the comics I've enjoyed, but they have no rhyme or reason, they are not cohesive lol. If you're more into comics you want to look elsewhere for advice "^^
All Star Batman: First Ally - I have no context for this series as a whole and I do not care: I'm here for pretty art, Alfred backstory, and father and son behavior. I own a hardcover copy.
Batman: Zero Year - Stumbled upon by accident but thoroughly enjoyed. I don't agree with everything in these (batman writers obsession with characters slapping each other my BEHATED) but its pretty cool overall. Featuring my The Alfred Ever and baby Duke Thomas! There's Dark City then Secret City!
One Bad Day: Mr Freeze - I'm not gonna lie this comic is like... bad. Okay so that's not entirely fair: I adore the art, the baby Dick Grayson content, the Alfred content, and honestly most of the story until the end. Spoiler, but they nerf the daylights out of what makes Freeze such an iconic character. Like, I get what they were doing but... come on. Insinuates a bizarre message too. Still worth a peruse for the good moments.
Batman: the Adventures Continue - a continuation of the btas comic series (the batman adventures)!! It's interesting to see them put more modern storylines in the btas universe. The last few issues (holiday special!) Are at very least worth a read.
While I'm here, The Gotham Adventures is also cute and cool, takes place in the btas universe with the tnba style + continuity.
Same as above, if you like the Justice League cartoon check out the tie in comics, including the recent continuation Justice League Infinity!
Oh I guess this do counts: The Wayne Family Adventures is a very cute comic on tapas! It's very cute, and actually published by DC comics!
My best word of advice: follow your interests! Indulge! There is no right way to explore this franchise! There's so much to discover and there's a little something for everybody. There is no obligation to know every little thing about the mythos, you do not need to read from issue 1 or know all the current updates to be a "real fan". Actualy, do us all a favor and stick it to toxic comic fanboys by having as much fun as you can! Pick and choose! Try it all! Be gritty! Be goofy! Be both! Spend hours poking around on fandom wikis to learn about what you want to learn! There's no wrong way to play, I'm just so happy youre here. Now go forth and be batfans!!!

Hey, hello fellow Frelma shipper! Can I ask what you like the most of the ship? If you want to answer of course. Anyway have a good night!

Canon Reasons not necessarily in order
This includes all of the series, films, books, etc that I can remember from the top of my head. Meaning, I have not watched/read all of them but plan to when possible!
WARNING: might be slightly repetitive because my writing skills do not always follow or translate the thinking process of my brain.
Their color combinations don’t make me wanna barf. It is very hard to get the complimentary colors of orange and blue together without them looking like the visual representation of nails on a chalkboard.
Smol x Tol. A height difference combination that rarely fails. Especially if their complimentary shapes also include short and curvy/plump with big and bulky/muscles.
Nerd-shaped Nerd x Jock-shaped Nerd
The Smart One (Logic) x The Other Smart One (Creativity). This is mostly applicable to the earlier late 60s-70s series before most of the later adaptations lower Fred’s intelligence to varying degrees. It can be generally agreed upon that Velma has a lot of book smarts and proven theories, while Fred leans more towards understanding engineering and mechanics (to an extent, seeing how his traps usually work out).
Snarky x Sweet. Honestly? Both have their moments.
Headcanon Reasons not necessarily in order
Warning: ranting involved.
Grumpy Cat x Golden Retriever energy.
“Excuse me , he asked for NO pickles.”
Gremlin Fighter x Giant Softie
“I connected the dots!” “You didn’t connect squat.” “I connected them!” I do not ship Ryan and Shane together, I just feel like this dialogue could fit Frelma.
Nerdy Loser Dork x “Dumb” Popular “Jock”/Girboss x Himbo/ Brains x Brawn. Explanation provided below. ⬇️
*DEEP BREATH*
I am not interested in watching HBOMax’s VELMA for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to:
1) Copying and Pasting the format for the Harley Quinn series, which is also a black comedy/satire with mindless violence, constant swearing, and inappropriate depictions of adult content (as you can probably tell, I do not like the premise of, nor will watch, that series either. If any of you do like either of those series, that is okay; go ahead and enjoy.)
2) The interpretation of the Scooby without the Scooby Gang’s personalities (Their adaptational races and social statuses are fine.) is superficial at best and insulting at worst.
That being said, from what little I heard about what happens in VELMA, there could have been a cute dynamic between Velma and Fred. Unfortunately, neither of the characters seemed very likable based on what the creators said and how the Scooby fandom reacted. This artist best portrayed what Velma and Fred’s chemistry COULD HAVE LOOKED LIKE in these videos:

youtube
Credits to Jamie De Jonge.
Do you see what we Frelmas could have had???
The Gunn live action films aren’t that much better frantically dodges bullets but there are more moments shown between Fred and Velma that despite some occasional bickering, Fred is wowed by Velma’s intelligence while Velma admires Fred’s confidence. I think as a younger kid, I was actually expecting them to end up together despite being a Fraphne shipper at the time because of their chemistry whenever they shared screentime.
Honestly? In the ending, the Fraphne kiss was a lot less satisfying to me than the moment when Fred steps down from the spotlight and directs it to Velma so she could finally get the credit and recognition she deserved in solving the mysteries and catching the villain.

I hope this was a mostly? coherent answer, @light-miracles ! Thanks for the question!!!

Director's cut for the latest part of Misadventures, please? ❤️
Completely out of order as I reread the chapter and think of them!
Quinn waking up while she’s sick to her name being called isn’t her hallucinating or anything to do with her fever. From the line about, “This is where you fuck the bats,” she had turned on the Harley Quinn animated series on HBOMax, and in the one episode (I tried to look back to see when I was watching it; but it’s been a few months) they’re looking for Harley but yelling out Quinn, and I’ve basically had that nugget stored away for use since I watched the series.
I usually challenge myself every chapter to not outrightly use the word tattoo. They’re there, we know there there, there’s better phrases I can use. I tacked on the challenge of not using the word cat for Beelzebub because, yeah, he’s a cat, but he’s also an over protective fur ball. (But then I go cat cat cat all in three sentences later on to make up for it 😂😂😂)
The hope chest of dildos wasn’t absolutely necessary, but I considered it as a good two for two of Tommy getting some instant karma for deciding to be nosy. And I felt that it was some good comic relief for kind of the heaviness of the rest of the chapter.
Tommy staying there instead of just going home: yeah, he’s a little stubborn. Also, doesn’t know where she actually started getting sick, so worst case if he’s already sick, it’s contained in one place. The nugget about choosing to sleep on the floor, actually goes back to something I found while writing a different bit of “canon” (period correct sounds like such a mouthful) something for a request. I was reading articles that talked about how soldiers returning home on leave in World War One actually preferred to “sleep hard” when they got home, because they couldn’t stand the comfort of their beds from adapting to sleeping out. I always liked that nugget, so while not relevant here, I dunno, I try to find canon things and pull them thru. And, I’ve never quite sorted out their living situation before ending up with Polly, down to historically accurate representations of what their lifestyle would have been like around the 1980s, but I imagine it to have been rather cramped if they were traveling, not to say their life wouldn’t have been sustainable in that time; but I’m sure Arthur Sr would have been no better with money in this universe.
Speaking of canon things: “She knew of the blood on his hands and looked past the way it stained him and dirtied him regardless.” Someone shared the “blood on my hands” “oh mine too” gif and sometimes it’s the simplest things that inspire a random line.
Describing Covid was difficult as fuck because I feel like it was different for everyone. I’ve talked about this with some people before, but the first time I had it I actually did cry that I didn’t want to die. I was also very proud of myself for remembering Giles Corey (I don’t think that’s how the last name is spelled but I’m too tired to go look) but I wasn’t sure if anyone would have recognized the tie to The Crucible immediately from just that, so I flipped it and used the name of the play in there instead of the character name.
I totally butchered the whole “egg allergy” thing because the Covid vaccines actually are one of the ones that don’t have eggs, but I have a family friend who didn’t get it for that reason, so 🤷🏼‍♀️ I rolled with it.
I am not sure when I noticed it, but any time Tommy knocks, it’s three knocks. Always three. It’s relevant way way later on but I love to set up for the littlest shit ahead of time.
“Some thin gold chain on she had never noticed him wearing before.” In reference to the necklace Tommy takes off in the last episode before burning the caravan. I personally have a HC that Polly gave them gifts of crosses before the boys went to France, just like she prayed for them every day, and Tommy eventually chucked the cross away somewhere but kept the rest because it was from Polly.
Trying to google how boys think about sex is really a difficult thing to find, so, I feel like I hmm kind of oversimplified some descriptions but I feel like it totally worked out fine. I don’t really believe in sticking with one point of view through a whole scene either, apparently. 😂😂😂
The diner they go to is Midnight Express on 2nd Avenue. I felt like the food they order and how they order is a good contrast of their personalities here, not that they’re like polar opposites or anything but, Quinn is going to have what she wants because she wants it and will figure it out later (most likely in the form of a to go box) and Tommy ordering something “boring” was just fun contrast. (I love corned beef hash actually so maybe I’m a bit boring too)
After Tommy’s phone conversation with Ada about the donation for the orchestra, Quinn just makes the inference that he might know something about scholarships. It’s something that she’s thought of before but never really knew who to talk it over with without sounding like a pompous asshole. She also like operating under the stipulation that no one but her and her dad (maybe Dalton, but maybe not) know about the money she has from the Bitcoin so she doesn’t really have anyone to talk financials with.
I have bought the New York Times twice in my life and once was to write this.
I imagine that, I dunno why I’m thinking of this right now, but, Tommy doesn’t pay too much mind to Quinn’s age, because, unfortunately, her trauma had matured her some, and she is actually smart. They are both smart about different things, but she does try to understand his business a bit (asking about the 941 forms, which are actually the tax withholding payment forms for the taxes taken from employees checks I think) while still feeling a tad like they’re out of each others bounds sometimes, even though to Tommy, it’s just routine that the bookkeeper takes care of something like that. His only comparison for women around that age are Ada, who is also smart, and Anna and Gina, which Ive messed with the ages so much to make them closer I have to see where they fall at in my big ol document sometime 😂😂😂
(I think this kind of a thing is actually supposed to be what this kind of question was asking, so, RIP, but you’re still getting it all sorry) I originally wanted to have them walk home from the diner and end up holding hands but I felt like there wasn’t a good way to rope that in so I cut it.
Spent way too long on google looking at Aston Villa shirts just to find something that I could make a joke out of. I absolutely love that the first time Ada sees Quinn it’s actually in a fairly normal state for her: no pants, comfy shirt, injuring herself and swearing. I couldn’t wait to get to this chapter just for that part because I’ve known for awhile that’s how they would meet.
This got so long! I absolutely am sure there are more thing, but, I’m dead tired and can’t think of them right now!

ok I’m taking a small break from raving about Catradora for a bit to talk about Velma (the new HBOmax show) cause I’ve seen Several videos on my socials (most specifically tiktok) talking about the how's and whys this show doesn’t work and why its currently sitting at a measly 8% on RT with audiences (I know that RT is something to be taken with a grain of salt but when talking about this show I think we can take this rating at face value.)
Now one of the reasons I think this show is failing so hard is cause it tried to “Harley Quinn” the Mystery Gang is the best way to put it. however, the reason why upping the comedy and adult humor was well received with the Harley Quinn show is because these characters (while being ridiculous and over the top) are still recognizable as these characters. Harley Quinn is still a villain turning antihero who's dealing with the fallout of hers and the jokers relationship. Poison Ivy hates people but makes exceptions for those in her life that matter to her. all in all, if you showed me the HBO max show and compared it to the DCEU I’d still be able to recognize that character as Harley Quinn (also I think it came out fundamentally at a time when Harley Quinn content was at an all time high demand (especially after what we received with the first Suicide Squad back in 2016). season 1 of the show came out in 2019 with Birds of Prey and the new Suicide Squad quickly following suit in 2020 and 2021; one of those main movies focuses being About Harley Quinn’s breakup with the joker)
The problem with Velma is that the characters don’t really feel like the same characters that we’ve grown to know and love over the years. it doesn’t feel like they’ve taken existing characteristics of these characters and ampt them up for comedy it feels like they slapped new characteristics onto these characters that don’t fit these characters at all. And we really haven’t had all that much Scooby Doo content come out in recent years (that I’ve noticed) (the most recent from memory that I can recall being the crossover episode with Supernatural which does a much better job at sticking to the characters while being in a more adult show) the big bust for Scooby Doo content I’d argue would be the 2000′s-2010′s when shows like Mystery Incorporated or A Pup Named Scooby Doo were airing (as well as the theatrical releases however I’m not the biggest fan of those, if you like them more power to you but that’s not the point of this) maybe the show would work if they took something like Mystery Incorporated and upped the antics so that it works for a more mature audience and the show Just came out and all but i really don’t see it getting all that much better.

The Bright Side of 2020
It's easy to say that 2020 was an awful year. Because it was. 2020 is easily one of the worst years in a while, filled with death, depression, economic collapse, a pandemic, and even the word 'poggers' becoming a thing.
Seriously, what the hell is 'poggers?!' The more I see it, the less it makes sense to me!
2020 was filled to the brim with so many awful moments. In no way should we forget any of it, and heaven forbid that we ignore all of it.
But that doesn't mean we should let the bad overshadow the good.
As we enter the last month of the dumpster fire that is this year, let us look over the good that came from it. Because I don't want to end 2020 with a whimper, but at least with a little glimmer of hope.
So here is my list:
Joe Biden has been elected as our new president, and the entire world had collectively celebrated. Sure, Trump is reacting to the news like a toddler who won't share his ball and decided to run home crying to his mommy. But by January, we will never talk about this man again, and America will remember him as he was back in 2016: A bad joke that wasn’t that funny to begin with, and has been annoying to hear since the beginning.
Our new vice president will not only be the first female VP but will also be a VP who is an African American, an Asian American, and an Indian American. It doesn't make up for the years when old white dudes were in charge, but it's a start. So let's take a moment to appreciate our new VP, shall we...That was nice. Next!
Voice actors who are people of color are given more of a chance to voice characters who are POC as well. It gets better as white VAs are getting replaced with VAs with the correct background to perform as specific characters. You can make the argument that a voice is a voice and that it doesn't matter who the face behind it is as long as the performance is still good. But if you're going to go the progressive route anyway, then why not go all the way with hiring actors to portray their own race/culture?
Several comedians kept us laughing despite how the year got worse and worse and how emotionally drained they were because of it. Laughter is the best medicine and boy, does it help that I can still laugh off the pain this year brought.
On a darker note: Online personalities Ryan Haywood from Achievement Hunter and Adam Kovic from Funhaus were revealed to dealing in sexual misconducts with their fans. On the surface, this seems like a bad thing. And with the betrayal and heartbreak that came from it, it certainly seems like so. But look at it this way: These monsters would have continued to do such awful things, regardless if they got caught this year or not. And while it pains me to know so many good videos are going to be deleted, some of which helped me on days that I needed a laugh the most, it is good knowing that Haywood and Kovic won't get away with what they did again. Because we won’t let them.
Back to a lighter note: A rare yellow turtle was discovered in India, and I am in love with this thing! I thought it was a mustard stain at first when I saw the photo, but it's a turtle. And it's adorable. And I will not rest until I find it and give it cuddles it deserves. Which is all of the cuddles.
So many incredible LGBTQ+ representations were given this year! Yes, that whole thing with Dean and Castiel was unforgettable as much as it is unforgivable. But if you ignore the live-action side of things and look at animation, you will find things are brighter than a rainbow over a pride parade. Catra and Adora finally kissed in a moment that was both satisfying and beautiful. Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn became a couple in Harley Quinn, giving comic fans something they wanted for years. Adventure Time fans were given a forty-five-minute episode filled with adorable moment after adorable moment of Marceline and Princess Bubblegum being an operant couple. Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts has a character who explicitly says, "I'm gay," and even gets a boyfriend in the end (I think. I haven't finished the show yet). And Disney has finally, F**KING FINALLY, taken steps in the right direction with their new hit: The Owl House. A series where the main character is a bisexual Latina who has a same-sex love interest that has an explicit crush on the main character.
And while we're on the topic of entertainment: HOLY S**T, have you seen the quality content we got this year?
Amazing animated shows came out with hit after hit with series like The Midnight Gospel, The Owl House, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Central Park, and many, many more. Shows that are hilarious, beautifully animated, and tell compelling stories with equally compelling characters.
Adventure Time, Animaniacs, Eddsworld, Phineas and Ferb, and Crash Bandicoot came back with revivals, reboots, specials, and long-awaited sequels that were not just as good as they were before leaving, but in some ways, are even better.
A recorded performance of Hamilton can now be seen on Disney+, meaning that theater kids can finally see the show they have been obsessing over since that soundtrack came out.
HBOmax took shows from DC's piece of s**t streaming service, meaning that fans can watch Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn on a service that's actually worth the price...Titans can suck a dick. But Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn! Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn!
Avatar: The Last Airbender and Community is on Netflix now...so go watch them.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a game that stars the famous bi-racial Spider-Man, that also shows off the color and diversity that is present in the people of Harlem. And given what happened this year, that is definitely appreciated. Not to mention that I’ve heard it's a fun game on top of that!
And that's just the s**t I can think of off the top of my head. There are plenty more good things that came this year, some of which I'm sure is better than what I put on this list. All a person has to do is do some research, which I encourage you to do yourself.
Don't let 2020 win by beating you down. Instead, let's focus on the bright side to stop the dark shadow of a year from taking over.
And I'm begging you: Keep this list going! It's not a bad thing to give people good news for a change.

It's time to admit it...DC Universe is dead.
By Kenshiro
With the recent announcement that DC’s Stargirl is getting a renewal straight to CW, its time to admit that the DC Universe service is dead.  While the service started with some promise, lately its known more for what exclusives it doesn’t have.  None of its original show lineup save for Young Justice is even an exclusive to the service any longer.  The timing of the announcement only serves to strengthen the inevitable shuttering of the service.
When AT&T took control of TimeWarner, it was widely believed that they would be entering the streaming wars.  HBOmax was created to compete with the likes of Netflix & Disney+.  The announcement of Doom Patrol and Green Lantern led a lot of people to speculate over DC Universe’s future.  Despite the initial reassurances of authorities, DC Universe keep losing exclusive offerings.  The niche nature of DC Universe requires it to have enough special items to offer to subscribers.  The only remaining unique offering is its excellent comic book service.  This is simply not enough to keep people invested in paying for the service if they can get the offering elsewhere.
Stargirl is getting a renewal on The CW. Another nail in the coffin for the DC Universe App.
The Service For Fans Lost Its Exclusivity
Let’s count the number of exclusives that the service no longer has.  DC Daily, the daily webshow based around DC announcements and releases just got cancelled.  Doom Patrol, airs weekly on HBOmax.  Titans Season 3 will certainly find its way onto HBOmax.  Swamp Thing was cancelled, but is coming to The CW. Harley Quinn is already airing on Syfy and HBOmax. No more exclusives.
There is an active push to move people away from DC Universe.  Current subscribers are being offered a discount to subscribe to HBOmax.  Full disclosure: I have been a subscriber to DC Universe since it launched.  I personally don’t use the service much at all.  The video offerings I already own separately from the service itself.  Outside of the comic service of the entire DC comics library, I don’t really need it.  Originally, I signed up for Young Justice Season 4, and to be honest, nothing else has been worth price of admission. Everything else on the service is already being offered elsewhere.
If this was inevitable, why even start the service in the first place?  DC Universe launched in late 2018.  HBOmax launched one & a half years later.  It would seem that Warner Bros. was throwing money down the drain in launching it. They should be applauded for trying to create a service for the fans.  The service didn’t gain enough subs, nor did it seem to have the full support of the company funding it.
Question remains, what will become of the service.  How long can they afford to keep it going if they won’t feed it exclusive content?  Is having access to DC’s entire comic book library a good enough reason?  Would you keep paying for it, if they only spoon-fed it other DC offerings?  What do you think of the latest news?

Top 20 BEST Animated Series of the 2010s-Honorable Mentions
And now.
What is hands down.
The Best.
Animated series.
In the 2010s.
Is…
Going to be revealed tomorrow because I'm a piece of s**t (I’ll change the title when enough people fall for it). For now, here are some quick honorable mentions that aren't bad, but just not as good as the shows I picked...in my opinion, at least.
Craig of the Creek (2018-)-From what I've seen from season one, this show is pretty charming. It understands the pure imagination that comes from being a kid and has moments when these characters are more human than cartoons. But it also has the same energy as a Beach City episode in Steven Universe, and as we discussed, not everybody is going to be into that. Plus, I haven't caught up past season one (due to just not having the time), so it wouldn't be fair to claim it's one of the best when I haven't seen how seasons two and three hold. I've heard from other people that it's good, so I'll be willing to take their word for it. And maybe you should too.
Milo Murphy's Law (2016-2019)-I've seen a handful of episodes of this show, but from what I saw, I'd say it's worth watching further. The idea of this kid, who's cursed to literally have the worst life ever, deciding to have an optimistic outlook of the hand he's been dealt is pretty admirable. Plus, Weird Al Yankovic voices the main character. I can't physically hate it. Although the ginormous issue that Milo Murphy's Law has is that it relies too much on Phineas and Ferb's recognizability. I get that both shows were created by the same people, and I'd be more than fine if there were just a few shout outs and references. But the creators decided to force one of the characters in Phineas and Ferb into Milo's Murphy's Law, making it sort of a spin-off series on top of being its own separate thing. Meaning that you don't have to watch Phineas and Ferb beforehand, but you do need to know who these characters are going in. And if you're wondering how that paradoxical concept works...I couldn't tell you. I haven't seen the show in its entirety, and from what I have seen, it's at least good enough for an honorable mention.
The Avengers: Earth Mightiest Heroes (2010-2013)-There's nothing wrong with this series. The designs are great, the representation of these iconic characters is even better, and the level of quality is on par with the Marvel Cinematic Universe...I just always forget that this show exists. No offense to the series, but I just prefer shows that I'll remember instead of shows that I'll forget in another ten years.
Young Justice (2010-)-And before you start making the audacious claim that I'm a DC fanboy, let it be clear that Young Justice is an honorable mention for similar reasons. I love the character designs, and I think the representation is on point. Plus, while it does not have MCU levels of quality, Young Justice matches up with the good DC movies. It's just forgettable...and also because I never got the chance to watch the third season yet. Instead, I wasted my limited time with an HBOmax subscription on watching Doom Patrol, Harley Quinn, and my favorite Doctor Who episodes. Don't judge me!
Harley Quinn (2019-)-And seeing how I mentioned it, Harley Quinn is a fantastic show with perfect satire. And like some of the best satirical writings, this show has a deep understanding of the source material that it's making fun of while still providing an excellent story at the same time. However, most jokes die quick, and the animation is just flat out garbage at times. I recommend it, but keep in mind that there's a reason why it's just an honorable mention.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2018-2020)-I know I kind of trashed it with my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012) review, but the truth is that I really love this show. Or, at least, I want to love this show. Because there is something amazing and worthwhile that’s hidden under a gigantic pile of poor planning and network meddling. I plan to make a full review for it in the future, so I'll save my thoughts for when that comes. For now, just know that it's something worthwhile if you're the right person.
Amphibia (2019-)-Aaaaaaand it's the same thing here. There's a lot that I like about it, but the stuff I don't makes it hard to enjoy. I'll also do a full review on this one in the future, so you're just going to have to wait...again.
Tangled: The Animated Series (2017-2020)-Another show that I really liked and even considered putting on the list. Even wrote a review and everything. But looking back, the parts that it did wrong highly outweighed what it does right, and honestly, it was a toss-up between this and Star V.S. the Forces of Evil for what took twentieth place. I ultimately went with Star V.S. because at least it had villains that were actually intriguing and terrifying characters. Unlike a specific antagonist with blue hair who was so idiotic and insane that I honestly would have felt nothing if they died in the end...I know that I just made a ton of enemies with that statement, but I don't give a s**t. And if you're nice, I might rewrite my review so I can accurately explain why this series is a tad bit overrated.
The Looney Tunes Show (2011-2014)-... I liked it...other people didn't, but I liked it.
Hilda (2018-)-Because I haven't seen season two yet. That's why. And from what I've seen in season one, this show is incredibly charming, beautifully imaginative, and is absolutely something I would show to my children if I ever have any. Maybe it forces in drama when it doesn't need to, but overall, you can better believe that this would have made the list if I saw season two before I started ranking shows.
And those are my honorable mentions. I’ll see you tomorrow for the actual unveiling of the number one spot. And for the fandoms that I ticked off...be patient.
(Also, let this be a lesson to read the tags before clicking 'Keep Reading.' Unless that's what you did, in which case, BOY, do I have egg on my face.
