Fallen Order & Survivor Musical Themes
Has anyone done this yet? Here is a comprehensive list of all of the character themes/motifs found in the Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor video games for anyone interested. I tried to give several examples of each and also included some of my own thoughts. You can listen to many or as few links as you want. If I missed anything please feel free to add on or let me know.
FALLEN ORDER CAL KESTIS - I'm giving Cal two separate sections because I'm pretty positive he now has two separate themes and in attempts to make it less confusing, I've decided to very creatively refer to them as Fallen Order Cal and Survivor Cal. I'm a genius, I know. Fallen Order Cal is consistently heard all over both games. It's his primary theme. It feels young and heroic and wide-eyed... Remember feeling like nothing could touch you when you were young? That's the sort of feeling I get from Fallen Order Cal. It's not happy per se but it's hope and optimism sprinkled with naive youthfulness and an undertone of solemnity. He's been through some serious shit but he's a kid, he's young. The grief and trauma are there for sure but they haven't encompassed him completely. There's still some hope behind those eyes, there's a healing journey to go on, and there's a chance to take on this Empire. It's only until Survivor that the theme starts feeling a little more grounded just like the transition from childhood to adulthood. Fallen Order Cal in Survivor feels a bit less magical, that youthful spirit has diminished, that hope has dwindled.

SURVIVOR CAL KESTIS - So, I originally thought this was a minor key variation of a section of Cal's theme but I've since realized that it technically is a completely separate theme. That being said, thanks to @foxykatie425 in this insanely detailed reply to my frustrations regarding this theme that put what I was hearing into musical terms way out of my element in terms of explaining, I've realized that I may have been somewhat correct. I don't know if the two themes are actually connected, that would be a question for the composers but at the very least, it's definitely a secondary darker theme for Cal as it only ever plays in reference to him and I'd wager a guess that it's the main theme of Survivor as a whole. Compared to Fallen Order Cal, Survivor Cal feels drained, heavy, tired, burdened, and above all else, dark and foreboding. There is a genuine weight to this theme that just feels sinister. There is a hint of Fallen Order Cal there but as that post says, it almost feels like it's on the verge of falling apart. He's not the same man he was five years ago and the fact that this theme is the first thing you hear music-wise in the game and accompanies your very first view of him is an incredible way of subconsciously telling that to your audience right off the bat.
DARK TIMES
ABOVE THE CLOUDS - note: this theme and Fallen Order Cal switch back and forth constantly in this track and I find that so interesting.
NOVA GARON
NIGHTSISTER MERRIN - Merrin's theme is interesting to me because it doesn't sound anything like the type of music you might use to accompany a witch or magic user. It's not necessarily fantastical or whimsical or anything of the sort. In fact, it sounds more like something you might use for a superhero. It's a little bit timid or unsure or even afraid in Fallen Order but god damn has it built in confidence and strength once Survivor rolls around. The only time you hear that sort of timidness to it again is during the first kiss on Jedha which has such interesting implications for her being a nervous wreck in that moment. I also adore how it sounds as an action cue which you hear several times throughout Survivor. It sounds like it comes straight from the best MCU movies and yes, I do mean that as a compliment.

PEACEKEEPERS

THE WILL OF THE FORCE
TRIDENT
FLIGHT
CAL & MERRIN'S LOVE THEME - Look, I genuinely did not think they would actually go through with making Cal and Merrin canon, I honestly thought they'd chicken-shit out and I was certainly not expecting them to get any sort of love theme if they did but here we are... and we somehow got both. Cal and Merrin are canon and they got a love theme. Holy fucking shit. It just has all that warmth and sweetness of a friend-to-lovers romance too.

THE ABYSS
BD-1 - I said in my post regarding my thoughts on the Survivor score that these two video game scores are quite possibly the closest we've ever gotten to a John Williams sound from a composer(s) who is in fact, not John Williams. Not that every piece of Star Wars music has to sound like the big man himself, part of the reason The Mandalorian theme was so positively received was that it was such a different sound for Star Wars but I stand by what I said: this is the closest a composer has gotten to a John Williams sound and they have clearly done their research. Some people might not know this but R2 and 3PO have a very small motif heard throughout the films. It's not played very often and is sometimes not very noticeable but it's there and BD-1's motif is not only similar but definitely sounds like it exists within the same universe. I also love that droids are so often musically presented as very childlike, innocent, and mischievous. BD in particular has a very playful energy.
BD-1 AND THE BOGLINGS
MERRIN
THE WILL OF THE FORCE
TRILLA SUNDURI/SECOND SISTER - Trilla's theme legitimately activates my fight or flight response and when I say that, I mean mostly my flight response cause you won't find me messing with this shit. It's very much in lieu of the famous Psycho violins which were written to heighten your senses by emulating screams. I wish we got more of it cause it's intimidating as fuck and a piece of dark side art.
FIGHT AND FLIGHT
TRILLA
THE WILL OF THE FORCE
CERE JUNDA - Don't hate me but I haven't quite fallen in love with Cere's theme yet. That's not to say it's bad by any means, it's absolutely beautiful. It has such a deep melancholy vibe to it, like an inescapable sadness. It almost has a feeling of failure to me weirdly enough.
THE PATH OF THE THREE SAGES
DESERT RUINS
SIEGE
THE VISITOR
ENO CORDOVA - I've mentioned this before but again, for people who might not know: the music that is widely considered to be the main theme of Fallen Order - so much so it was primarily used during the recap at the beginning of Survivor - is Cordova's theme. It's such an interesting artistic choice because I think many people would've made it either Cal's theme or given the entire game its own theme in general. I listen to this one a lot honestly. It's so calming and safe feeling.
THE PATH OF THE THREE SAGES
FAILURE IS NOT THE END
ENO CORDOVA'S THEME
THE NARKIS ANCHORITES
BODE AKUNA - Yes, Bode does have a theme and you know what? It slaps. I really like it. It's very adventurous and feels quite friendly which is ironic as hell. It does get some heart-wrenching renditions nearer to the end of the game. It's the music that swells when he force-pushes Cal and everyone collectively shits themselves. Oh, it also has some dark renditions as well.
ABOVE THE CLOUDS
A STEP TOO FAR
BROTHERS
THROUGH DARKNESS
RAYVIS - As far as I can tell, Rayvis does not have a set theme but he is usually accompanied by high-playing strings and his boss fight music is the best example of that. I actually don't think a lot of Rayvis moments ended up on the score soundtrack which... how dare they.
WARRIORS CODE
DAGAN GERA - I thought Dagan didn't have a theme for the longest time but it turns out he actually does have a tiny motif that I do wish had been more thoroughly realized in the score because it's so menacing and I absolutely love it. It's most prominently heard during his last confrontation with Cal. He is also usually accompanied by low-playing horns. Not always but usually.
RELEASE ME
TO THE RESCUE
GRAND OCULUS
KATA AKUNA - I'm going to rant about this one for a second, okay? I have spent the last few weeks wondering what the hell the melody that plays throughout the track Through Darkness is. I was sitting here plucking out melodies on a piano app (cause I don't own a keyboard) and was like, "Okay, it's not Cal's theme, it's not Bode's theme, it's not Merrin's theme... what the hell is that series of notes??" Yes, I'm aware that not every note has to mean something but these just felt like they did. It's played at such an emotional point in the game and for two scores that already work heavily around themes and motifs and musical ideas, it didn't make sense to me that this little series of notes would mean nothing, especially at such a poignant moment. Funnily enough, it only just occurred to me while making this post that it's fucking Kata's theme. At least I think it is. Well, motif. It's not a fully developed theme but it definitely has the makings of one. That's not even me making a wild guess either, these notes appear in other places in the story that feature Kata.
NOVA GARON
THE ABYSS
THROUGH DARKNESS
GHOST STAR - I'm adding this for fun because I think it's gorgeous and I love it but it leads me to ask: why has there been no official release of Ghost Star? With or without vocals? This is a genuine question. It does not appear on the Cantina album nor is there even a snippet of its melody on the score album. It makes me wonder if the song was maybe added later into production? Trust me, I love the orchestral cover that has been going around and people are obviously seeking it out cause the track has gained thousands of streams in the months since the game was released. It was at 10k the last time I looked on Spotify and it's currently at 24k as of writing this. I'm just genuinely surprised EA/Respawn or hell, even Lucasfilm hasn't capitalized off that.
GHOST STAR
GHOST STAR W/ VOCALS
Thank you most sincerely if you made it all the way here :)
I liked this. I should do this for more scores lol.

For the emoji ask game!
🌧️
💧
☔️
🌦️
(PS if you feel like it, can we hear more about Betrothal? 👀)
🌧️Share something angsty from your WIP.
Since you ask, @lost-in-derry, (thank you so much for that, btw) let me tell you about the angsty part of The Betrothal. I don't want to spoil too much, but besides being an Order 66 didn't happen AU, this also is an Arranged Marriage AU. Both Kallus' and Zeb's fathers are Senators and arranged their sons' marriage as part of a deal. Kallus is just resigned to it, his father doesn't care if he wants or not, but Zeb hates the idea as soon as he hears it. He warms up to it after spending some time with Kallus. Kallus has reasons not to like or trust Garazeb, and yet, he can't resist his charm.
That's when everything goes south, and I'm not telling you how or why, but they both end up at the hands of slavers (I haven't decided if Zygerrians or some other). Zeb is taken as a slave immediately to be a fighter, but *for reasons*, Kallus is confused as a slave trader. He plays the part until he can figure out how to get Zeb out there. But as if that wasn't enough, Kallus is a veteran of war (and Onderon happened, not for the same reasons, but with the same people and same result), so guess who also happens to be among the fighters (the champion to be defeated)? If you thought Gerrera's Lasat mercenary, you'd be correct.
☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure if you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?
I already answered it here, but I have so many ideas, that you're in luck. Let me tell you about another fic.
I want to write a fic with Cal Kestis and Merrin after Jedi Survivor where Cal struggles with the Dark Side. The idea is that one day he loses control again like he did in Nova Garon and Katra is present. After he regains control, he senses fear coming from her, so he thinks she's afraid of him. In reality, she's afraid FOR him. She already lived something similar with her dad and that didn't end well, so...
Anyway, it's an excuse to write a moment between Cal and Katra, plus Merrin and Cal being adorable together 😆
🌩️ Share something funny/cracky from your WIP.
I've said before, and I'll say it again. I don't write funny, comedy, or crack. I'm bad at it. So this snippet might not be as funny as I think it is. But whatever… It's from The One to Survive.
The high-pitched, mechanical voices of a pair of B1 droids come from the end of the hallway, “Did you hear about Vee-Tee Seven-Six-Four?” one asks.  “Yes, his operative system got corrupted. Started thinking he could use the Force.” Dropper, Clawbird, and Onix share a look. Even when hidden behind his helmet, Onix senses Dropper’s wide eyes. Clawbird’s shoulders shake at the rhythm of their silent laugh. Onix tries to ignore the absurdness of that statement. He has heard nothing more ridiculous in his life. A second later, he’s proved wrong. “Is he going to be a Jedi now? How’s that work?” “It doesn’t. The commander shot him.”
💧Share something romantic/hot from your WIP, or just something sweet if it's gen.
Well, this for Crosshair and my OC Katkris, and it goes under the cut because it's HOT and kinky 😏🔥🥵
TW: anal fingering, praise kink, D/s dynamic
Kat is kneeling on the bed between Crosshair's thighs. He looks so beautiful to her lying in bed, naked. His skin glistens with beads of sweat, and his cock lies on his stomach, hard and flushed. He's the perfect picture of decadence. He has his eyes closed, and his face is pinched with concentration when Kat slowly pushes two fingers into his greedy ass. His body swallows them, offering just a slight resistance as she slides them deeper.  “You’re doing so good, baby. That’s it. Open up for me like the good boy that you are.” The praise provokes a familiar reaction: Crosshair’s ass muscles clench slightly, and he turns his face away into his arm, trying to hide the growing flush in his cheeks. She knows what praises do to him. They are a double-edged blade, eliciting both satisfaction and embarrassment at the same time. It satisfies him because her praises fulfill his great need to feel valued. It’s something that he got satisfied with in the past in the most toxic ways, and it has taken time and effort to unlearn unhealthy behaviors. The embarrassment comes with the difficulty of accepting a compliment, even when deserved. Also, he sees it as a weakness, knowing that he’d do almost anything to get simple praise from her.

What's your favorite game you played this year?
sky my pal my friend my companion sky.
that is a very difficult question, I've played a lot of different games this year! In fact, I've actively been keeping tabs on games i've completed this year, totalling around 20 fully completed games.
I think it's gotta come down to three candidates, Valheim, Jedi Survivor or NEO: The World Ends With You. And the thing is, I love them all for different reasons.
Valheim is such a fun game to play with friends, and is an experience you could easily sink dozens of hours into without even thinking about it. From the biome-based progression and gear system somewhat akin to Terraria. To the harder boss fights and survival based aspects of the game. To it's incredible simplistic, yet very stylish and distinct visual style, it's genuinely a solid 10/10 for me.
STAR WARS: Jedi Survivor was an incredibly fun experience, despite a rocky technical launch. I definitely experienced a good few bugs and poor preformance, but looking aside the state of the game at launch it was a really genuinely phenomenal experience that managed to feel properly Star Wars. Which is a thing not a lot of Star Wars games manage. And I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of that, not to mention that the twists in the story threw me for a genuine loop.
NEO: The World Ends With You was a game I didn't really expect to play this year. It was gifted to me by @somethingwittyandweird for Christmas last year and I got around to playing it sometime early this year, and the first few days didn't super do it for me in game, but after that I was locked in. It was a really interesting and engaging story, with really well written characters, and overall fun gameplay. As it turns out, I am so normal about this game, so y'know, it's fine. Totally fine. (My game be so fine then boom, it got even better)
A few shoutouts before making my final decision: Master Detective Archives: Rain Code was a phenomenal detective game. Which, typically investigation and mystery games aren't 100% my thing, I often don't feel very good at them and I find the mysteries get a bit too complex for my liking. But this one really hit home for me, fantastic game with fantastic characters, art design, writing and soundtrack. Baldur's Gate 3 is another fantastic game I've played this year. I'm a lover of CRPGs and D&D so it was a pretty safe success for me, and I did thoroughly enjoy it. I've got a lot of different gripes and disagreeances about how some characters were handled and some options and such within the story, and various opinions about other bits and bobs. But all in all, it very much deserved GOTY, even if it wasn't my game of the year. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and Pathfinder: Kingmaker were also exceptional games I played this year. Again, big fan of CRPGs so these were very safe hits for me. But in addition to that, they let me immerse myself and learn so much about Golarion, the primary Pathfinder setting, and I thoroughly enjoyed that. With well written characters, fantastic stories, and very in depth mechanics, these games were a great time for my fantasy adventures.
I think, having ruminated on it properly, my favourite game that I played this year has to go to Valheim. I can return to that game any number of times for any number of playthroughs and have a fantastic time, it's so engrossing and fun and it's a game I cannot recommend enough.
There are a lot of hot hits this year I just haven't played yet. Like Mario Wonder, Tears of the Kingdom, Alan Wake II, etc. etc. I just have not gotten around to them yet, though I plan on doing so sooner rather then later, hopefully!
I hope this satisfies your curiosity! And I for one look forward to seeing what games will end up being played next year!

I......haven't finished Jedi Survivor yet. We decided that staying up for hours until I managed to get through the final boss fight was a bad idea
but more spoilers time (for up to the final boss fight)
I knew Cere would die. I knew Bode was a traitor. I'd even seen the moment when he killed Cordova.
I did not expect, while playing, to feel the devastation of Cal passing out in the desert, staring at him and having the sudden horrified thought of did they kill off the main character? even though I know they didn't. My brother played it release day. He didn't know for sure that Cal was alive at that point
I knew Vader would kill Cere. I did not expect her to hold up so well against Vader (nor did I expect that boss fight to take me so many tries). I also expected that my dozens of attempts to fight Vader and the full awareness that Cere would die would keep me from crying. I don't usually cry for characters I know will die. And then Cal appeared. For a split second, I thought he was there in that moment....but he couldn't have been. He would have launched himself at Vader first Then the whole scene came in, and I realized the part of the spoiler I didn't know going in - every bit of what we play through Cere is an incredibly potent Force echo that Cal just lived through And I cried. I cried through the cutscene. I was still crying when we arrived at the ISB base
I said to my mom at dinner that I was pretty sure the stuff that happened after Dagan Gera's death was what moved Survivor from a good game to an incredible game. I did not expect to find out exactly how trust that was.

after playing jedi survivor for several hours (im not including the hours i put into when i played it on the pc lol) i have come to the conclusion that not only is it SIGNIFICANTLY better than jedi fallen order, it is also one of the best games i have ever played and i haven't even finished the story yet lol
the gameplay is 100000x better as well as the graphics ofc but it still has the same vibes as jedi fallen order if that makes sense lol
anyway i love it so much and it's definitely worth the money. my only regret is i wish i hadnt have bought the pc version but hindsight is 2020....lol....anyway jedi survivor. ALSO I AM SO IMPATIENT TO SEE CERE AND MERRIN AGAIN WHEN THE HELL DO THEY SHOW UP........

Well, this sucks. After watching someone else struggle with the PC version of Jedi Survivor (they -still- can't get the game to load due to the issues!), I decided to do some technical digging to see if I could help them.
And in doing so I found out that my computer can't run the game at all.
I'm below minimum specs - my Graphics Card is unsupported for Survivor. Even if I upgrade my RAM, I very likely won't be able to play. I knew I might have a RAM issue (I only have 8 GB rather then the 16 GB that's recommended), but I never even thought to check my Graphics Card, as it's a solid-if-slightly-older card and this has never come up! I thought, worst-case, I'd be upgrading my RAM, not having to buy a whole new computer! Fallen Order lagged sometimes, but it ran decently - and the lag, I'm pretty sure, is a RAM issue. It runs Mass Effect Andromeda quite nicely without complaint (a teeny bit of stuttering if something else decided to run in the background is the only trouble I've ever had). And Baldur's Gate 3, which Isn't Even Out Yet, is also well within my Graphics Card specs. The only game that my computer has actually 'noped' out on is a Modded City Skylines Build, and that's clearly a RAM issue, and it might even be a Mod issue - I haven't had the patience to go through my modlist after the newest update. It runs my Absurdly Modded Skyrim build and my slightly-less-modded Fallout 4 build without issue, and overall, has had very few problems running most games, up until now. Yes, computer technology has advanced, and developers want to take advantage of it. But, I purposely bought a powerhouse of a machine when I bought this a few years ago and it's already out of date - and on components that are much more difficult, if not impossible, to swap out? This feels like planned obsolescence, and I'm very displeased. I'm actually really annoyed that an older-but-still-solid piece of hardware is now below the minimum specs for Survivor - and that I'm going to have to get a new computer to run the game - something that a) I don't nearly have the money for, and b) why do I need to replace a perfectly good machine? Sure, it's always been cranky about Windows Updates, but that's a software issue. (Broken Windows Updates have bricked this machine twice, thank -God- for backups!) Hardware-wise, though, it's still in good shape beyond one stuck key on the keyboard that I haven't really been bothered to fix yet! And, this sucks even more because, if I want to be active here on Tumblr, or in the JFO Fandoms over on Ao3 - well, I've already hit some spoilers, even just by virtue of stuff in the Ao3 tags, and not everyone is tagging their stuff as spoilers here on Tumblr, either. (And because I'm an artist in my Day Job, I can't just log off and walk away, I have 'work' accounts on a bunch of the socials where I'm also seeing Survivor posts, thanks to the joys of the various algorithms, even if I'm not subscribed/following/etc).
Most of my mutuals here are being very good about tags and/or putting things under the 'read more', but it's hard to avoid spoilers if I still want to be active in the JFO side of the Fandom, which, I do - I mean, I've still got a JFO era fanfic that needs more chapters!
Now, I can -try- and run Survivor on an unsupported graphics card and see what happens, but, odds are, it won't work. And if it doesn't, I'm stuck either getting things spoiled for me, or, watching a Lets Play and getting things spoiled for me, because there's absolutely no way I'll be able to afford a new computer any time soon. I guess this at least means I'm avoiding the Drama that has been the PC launch? /sigh/

Okay in reference to your tags on the Bode post you reblogged from me: I kinda had a theory you were the anon! And I'm honestly very glad to find someone who feels the same way about him because I haven't seen many other people (other than my sister) who do!
If you don't mind me asking, I have two questions for you: what did you think of the rest of Survivor, and what sort of Star Wars fan fic do you write? I saw you mentioned it in your bio!
Lol I do think I went through a few of your posts before sending that ask - but yes, I do agree! Bode is a lot more complicated than I think a lot of people give him credit for; he's a father and a man haunted by a lot of loss which doesn't excuse his actions, but does explain them and make me feel a good deal of empathy to him. I think there's actually a line when they're in the ISB base where Cal calls him a traitor and Bode is like...no, I'm a father
Which is really not an excuse for killing people Bode (but is a very good explanation for how he got where he is)
You said it a lot more eloquently lol
(interestingly, Bode is a sort of parallel to Anakin in some ways - killing and betraying people they see as family/very close friends for the people they love, even though it changes them into something unrecognisable that the person they love can't quite reconcile with)
I do not mind questions at all!
For fanfic, because that's the shorter answer, I write pretty much anything - legends, Kotor, swtor (to some extent, I haven't played through enough of it yet to do proper fic), og, rebels, tcw, extended universe stuff (and even a bit of the sequels although that has to be veru handpicked lol)
I have interacted with so much of the SW universe to some extent and it's such a good sandbox that I will dabble in writing anything lol
(currently I'm doing a lot of Kotor stuff as I finished survivor and decided to fill the hole with yet another playthrough of my favourite unfinished trilogy <3)
As for Jedi Survivor, Imma put my thoughts under the cut because I have...a lot of them lol (there will be spoilers)
I love the graphics, so SO much
Each planet felt different and unique and reminded me how much I loved to play JFO
Also the worlds felt a lot bigger? I think it's because I didn't really do much side stuff, just kinda beelined the plot so a lot of the side quest stuff was just kinda there as fun background NPC chatter lkl
MERRICAL! MERRICAL! MERRICAL!
It's being survivors of two separate genocides by the same tyrannical government and even when you search elsewhere, you still belong at each others side
And it's the Merrin talking Cal down when he's about to kill Denvik and it's Merrin giving Cal space to work out if he wants a relationship or if that wouldn't work but letting him know her own intentions
That moment on Jedha where she calms him down from a nightmare but then takes her own comfort just by being near?
And it's Merrin in general lol my darlingest fave <3
Also! After that kiss on Jedha after everyone has gone back in, my brother said (as a joke) "and now they have sex!" And then it immediately cuts to morning
Iconic moment
Also on Jedha - spamels! Someone out there went desert creature - so, a camel - a camel in space - so a space camel - a spamel
Which just makes me think of the tinned meat which is a...really weird thing to be thinking about
Greez opened a canteena! Monk, I love him - also Mosey
In fact, all of Ramblers Reach, I really like that they gave you a main base that's so...connected to people in this game??
Also that garden, I could spend all day in that garden
And the High Republic stuff! I still think it's weird that everyone is treating it as if it's ancient history when it's two hundred years ago BUT I really love the aesthetic and the story
I tried getting into the high republic books a while back but only managed one before I had to return them to the library, but this game has made me really excited for the high republic game and has inspired me to try and read the books again
Shout-out to Dagan Gera for being sufficiently unhinged for me to like him, and Rayvis for giving off massive Kotor!Mandalorian vibes
And Bode was a very interesting twist villain as looking back in the game, you can see it almost
(also my older brother called him being a traitor twelve minutes after meeting him which was either incredibly perceptive or he saw it online and is thing to make me think he's incredibly perceptive - either way, he got ridiculously pleased when he was proved right which did not fit with the mood of Cordova's murder lol)
And Kata! It's definitely going to be some time before she fully trusts Cal etc. etc. HOWEVER, we now have a daughter and that is wonderful (I'm living for the found family)
And CERE!
I WAS EMOTIONALLY DEVASTATED IT'S LITERALLY THE SECOND TIME CAL HAS HAD TO CRADLE THE BODY OF HIS DEAD MASTER YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH THIS HURTS ME
And it was the way Greez was so uncharacteristically ANGRY after Cere's death - and just- dhhfjebidnde
On a less devastating note - Cal, my dude, should have had to have had time to recover from both the slash wound from Dagan and the blaster shot from Bode which were both to the upper torso
Like...they caused enough damage in the fight to be a weakness but you can just walk it off apparently??
I don't think so
(I am going to write fic about this, probably)
Zee - I was so suspicious of Zee to begin with because she was so cheery but her voice kinda sounded like Nikola from the Magnus Archives and like-
Yeah I was fully expecting betrayal from Zee right up until we got back to Rambler's reach and I realised...she's just cheery, that's just her personality
I talked to her the bare minimum lol, I couldn't get creepy talking doll out of my head
That beginning sequence on Coruscant though?? That moment with the Jedi Temple where Cal realises what's happened and you can see the horror and bone deep resignation within him (and that's probably the first time that he properly starts wondering if he can do anything about the empire, after all there's that whole plot where people are like...settle down a bit)
I honestly wasn't that attached to the rest of Cal's crew who died - apart from Mags, literally JUSTICE FOR MAGS 2023, SHE DESERVED BETTER
There were so many little bits that made me genuinely laugh and feel things throughout the game and it felt a lot like Star Wars which is a big thing in its own right
Also Cordova being there threw me off but it was a nice surprise, if a bit weird lol as I was fairly convinced he was dead/in the unknown regions - but hell, I kinda understand it (even if us finding him in the last game might have made his appearance a bit more understandable)
I do have some things I'm not so happy with (some story choices in particular, and the way they presented Cal's slow descent to the dark side being the main ones) but I'm overall really happy with the game
It was the sequel that jfo deserved and it was it's own game in it's own right and I really enjoyed playing it - now I've finished the story, I'll probably stop doing such intense playing, but I do genuinely want to 100% complete it which says a lot, because I don't usually have the patience to do that
There's so much I could probably say that I can't think of now (and I don't think I've said anything about BD-1 which is a travesty of the highest proportions because my boy <3 I missed you <3 I'm so glad you're here and thriving <3) and I'm not really getting into the things I disliked because it would bring the post down (and also I need to be a bit more eloquent and a bit more awake for that one lol)
Anyway, thank you very much for the ask :D it made my evening, ngl, I love talking about star wars

La Fatina Lunare Giulietta 🌙 ✨
I knew my Moon Damsel would fly to me in my inbox, I missed you so much! *w*
Thank you for another ask, let's start!
4. Do you like to get 100% achievements/trophies? I usually do, especially in open world games (when the map is not insanely vast!). The more unique the collectables, trophies or challenges, the better! ^_-
5. Game(s) coming out that you’re looking forward to I can't absolutely wait for Hellblade II Senua's Saga, but unfortunately they still haven't announced a release date date yet, so... I'm (Im)patiently waiting. In the meanwhile, definitely SW Jedi: Survivor, which is out in two days!
7. A series you’ve lost interest in It might sound paradoxically absurd, but it's quite the Assassin's Creed series. The way they torn and raped the lore and gameplay mechanincs definitely threw away my slightest consideration. They lost me at Origins, which is a The Witcher 3 wanna be with a nonsense plot in my opinion. And let me say, maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but the series had to end with Syndicate.
13. Quick, name the first song from a game that comes to mind
youtube
This creepy lullaby from Outlast 2 is always on my mind when playing all horror games, don't know why! Jumpscare alert!
17. A game you didn’t finish but would like to get back to or restart someday Usually if I give up on a game is because it didn't grow on me even after days and days of gameplay, but for Remothered: Broken Porcelain this is not the case. This game was very and badly bugged at the release and still needs to be properly patched at this time, that's why I wasn't able to finish it, but I'd love to play it fluently one day and conclude the story of Jennifer.
youtube
18.A game location you really like
There are countless, I'll name a few: The Frontier in AC3 The Cemetery, Scarecrow Fields in Medievil, Kew Gardens and Wulfrum Hall in Medievil 2 Almost all the worlds of Spyro Tokyo in Ghostwire Tokyo
19. A game you started up for the first time and you knew from the start it was going to be great Oh well, so many!! It's a long long list. I just feel it when a game can give me a lot emotionally and in terms of gameplay experience.
22. A game ending that’s really stuck with you
Again, so many. Definitely the saddest ones, such as AC3, Martha is Dead, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Stray... oh, Stray destroyed me!! Some others like The Pathless, Sea of Solitude, the good ending of Sekiro.
23. A “Wow” moment of awe
That's in Control! \m/
youtube
27. A game you love the atmosphere of
Kena: Bridge of Spirits. That game has thaumaturgic places once they're purified from corruption. But also, as a horror passionate, The Suicide of Rachel Foster gave me shivers the whole time, that was perfect!
31. Someone has never played a video game before but is open to trying any genre. What game would you recommend as their first?
I would go for AC1! Linear, intuitive, also a bit repetitive (so not that hard to learn) and the story is so good to let anybody understand how deep a videogame's plot can be, just like any other form of art!
Sorry if I wasn't brief ^ ^' I hope you enjoyed
Thanks for visiting me again. A waterfall of tight hugs <3

dc douglas as sexy alien rayvis
OMG I can't even with "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor"! Like, the game was already cool, but then D.C. Douglas' character showed up and I was like, "WHOA! 🤯 Who is THIS?!" (Yeah, I knew)
Okay, so first of all, he played this totaly rad alien dude, and his voice was SO deep and growly. Every time he talked, I got goosebumps! 🙌 And the way he looked, with that sick armor and those intesnse eyes… I mean, I couldn't look away!
It was like, whenever he was on the screen, you just KNEW something awesome was gonna happen. 🎉 He had this whole mysterious bad boy thing going on, and it was just SO COOL. I swear, the parts of the game with him in it were the BEST. 🙌
When I had to fight him, my heart was pounding SO hard! 💗 He moved like a ninja, all smooth and deadly. 🥷 And his voice acting was on point! 💯 It made him even more intresting and, not gonna lie, kinda hot in a wierd alien way. 😅 His character made the whole game feel more intense and exciting. Like, the world seemed bigger and scarier whenever he was around. 😱 It was like being on the wildest ride ever!
So, yeah, he CRUSHED IT in "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor"! He made the game a million times better with his amazing alien character. I couldn't get enough of him! Seriously, he deserves all the awards for making the game so freaking epic!
If you haven't played "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor" yet, you HAVE to, just for him. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk, lol! 😂💕 Here he is being so... Hjhmjhd!

4. Movie of the year?
Tbh I really don't watch all that many movies, but I LOVED the fnaf movie! Best mix of batshit lore, genuine scares, and funny moments. Ironically would have made past me less scared of the animatronics lol. Also very glad I saw it in the theater, though I wish they'd put subtitles on ;-;
Evil dead rise was also REALLY good! A little gorier but I liked it a lot. Got to see this one in theaters too, tho it was a little loud for my taste. Well the music was anyways, the rest was good lol
8. Game of the year?
Overall? Skyrim. Jumped headfirst into it and I loved every minute. Haven't played it since the new update(gotta update all my mods...) But man. Top five games of all time for me!
Currently it's starbound, cos I really like building and it's nice to have a different game to play for when Skyrim isn't the vibe haha. Finally branching out into OCS with almost completely original stories for this one, which is very fun as well.
19. What r you excited for next year?
Ough so much stuff. I'm excited for lots of irl things that are more of a maybe, but online wise I'm very excited for the new games coming out, as well as older titles dropping in price. Hoping to get Jedi: survivor for 10$ or less either this Christmas or next, and light no fire is being worked on so hopefully that's coming out soon
Otherwise I'm very excited to get started on a comic or two, which is gonna have to wait till next year I think. Kinda cornered myself art wise lol, I've got a secret Santa and an actual painting to finish by Christmas, and then an art trade for someone on discord.
Ooh and I may be making an actual commission sheet some time next year?? Idk much yet but it's looking likely. Finally to the point where I'm happy enough with my art to sell it for money! So we'll see how that goes.
Also vv excited for my bday which is coming up soon. This also means even colder weather, which tbh is what I'm most excited for. Love me some cold weather

Star Wars Jedi Survivor
Finished May 4
how did i not notice until making this tumblr post that I beat this on Star Wars day?
Tumblr media
This is an absolutely INCREDIBLE follow up to the first game. The combat and mobility is on point. Instead of starting you off with nothing like alot of other games in this style, you start with a good amount of abilities you unlocked during Jedi Fallen Order. This really helps you FEEL that Cal Kestis is becoming a more and more powerful Jedi.
The world design is fantastic. The worlds are MASSIVE yet still retain that Metroidvania-esque design. There is sooo much to explore, and I would just get lost in this world forever. The freedom here is insane. There's even a point where you can go through a whole dungeon type area early, which then lets you skip it when the story eventually takes you there way later on.
The only downside is that (at launch, I haven't played it since then) the performance is not great. The game crashed THREE times. One of these crashes corrupted my save file and if I wasn't paying for PS+ which has cloud saves, I would have lost my entire save file. I really do hope this has been fixed somewhat, especially now that they announced backports to Xbox One and PS4??
Rick the Door Technician is such a bullshit boss fight though. How did they think it was okay to have a boss THIS difficult block a story path????

Star Wars: Visions thoughts and discussion
Been on a bit of a Star Wars binge lately. Getting ready for the Book of Fett and the return of The Mandalorian soon, just finished playing the Jedi: Fallen Order game, and recently "Star Wars: Visions" dropped on Disney+ (not to be confused with the, like, half-dozen other Star Wars properties that use "Visions" as their title). If you've got the streaming service and haven't watched the series yet, I can honestly suggest you should do so. The whole thing is a series of very short episodes and is entirely non-canon to the setting, so you don't even need a hard understanding of Star Wars to enjoy it.
In fact, it's actually better if you don't know anything about Star Wars going in. Spoilers and brief episode discussion after the jump.
Tumblr media
Episode 1: The Duel As soon as I saw a lightsaber umbrella and a R2 droid in a hat, I knew this one was going to be a must-watch.
I REPEAT. LIGHTSABER. UMBRELLA.
Tumblr media
Solid kick-off for the short series. Dig the aesthetic, dig the classic samurai vibe (even if it's more of an homage than a direct application of the style), dig the simple story. The particular animation style they chose here was a little wonky but I quickly got used to the visuals and loved a bunch of the design choices too much to care. This one was very action/style-focused and clearly chosen as the leading episode for that reason, which I don't fault them at all for.
Episode 2: Tatooine Rhapsody I'm sorry, I don't recall giving Star Wars permission to be this fucking adorable, how dare you.
Tumblr media
The tale of a Padawan survivor of Order 66 who makes a new life for himself not with the power of the Force, but with the power of Rock and Roll and Friendship. Bitchin'. Super adorable, semi-chibi art style that's honestly ringing, like, a dozen different bells in my head for trying to figure out all the different styles it's drawing from. Good fun, if a bit bland in the end. The biggest problem is the music. The story relies on "using music to save the day", which is fine. But when you use that trope you need an absolutely face-melting banger of a performance, which this just doesn't have. An enjoyable entry all the same though. Not bad, not great, cute designs; the quirky story of how Jabba the Hutt got a new slave band to play at his den.
Episode 3: The Twins This entire episode is animated by the team who brought us Kill la Kill and that should really tell you everything you need to know.
You know how if you get a bunch of little kids together, they'll start playing make-believe games where they just invent stories and plot twists and super powers like "I have whatever you can do, but infinity plus 1 better!" shit like that? That's what this short is. It has only the vaguest allusions to the setting proper and immediately hurls every semblance of consistency, logic, and sense out the window with both hands. It is 1,000,000% style over substance.
Okay, y'know what, no, that's not enough to describe the utter insanity this episode is. All I can find online is pictures of the main villain character pulling a General Grievous impression or the protag snaring lightsaber whips on his lightsaber, but that is fucking tiddlywinks compared to where this episode goes.
Tumblr media
There is a scene in this short where the protag, who is ghost-riding the hood of his X-Wing upside down in space without a space suit, super-charges his lightsaber into a giant rainbow of FUCK YOU GEORGE LUCAS with the power of familial love and fabulousness, using said rainbow super saber to CUT AN ENTIRE STAR DESTROYER IN HALF WHILE ACCELERATING TO HYPERSPEED, all to save his twin sister's life by making her explode in a somehow non-harmful manner.
This short is utterly nonsensical drivel and yes I would like more right the fuck now, please and thank you.
Episode 4: The Village Bride Wait, we're actually trying to tell a reasonable story in this series? Sorry, I was still on a sugar high from the previous episode. Lemme sit down.
Tumblr media
The Village Bride is great. Excellent short that's just dripping with atmosphere and a slow, purposeful pace to its writing. It's short and sweet with little focus on the Force-using characters themselves, which actually serves to its credit. Even in the Star Wars universe, the Ainu people can't catch a fucking break. Easily one of my favorites in the whole run.
Episode 5: The Ninth Jedi The fact that two characters in this short have Sasuke's haircut was extremely distracting. But I actually really enjoyed this entry overall.
Tumblr media
Despite playing extremely loose with the established lore around how lightsabers work, this episode over all others really embraces the original setting and tells a slow-burn story about the potential revival of the Jedi Order. A little meandering at times, but it's a solid piece and well worth exploring. Of all the shorts in the series, this one has the greatest potential to actually continue on as a standalone series or be folded into the canon franchise. Main protag is an adorable bean and I love her.
Episode 6: T0-B1 This episode is simultaneously a love letter to Astro Boy and a giant middle finger to Star Wars lore purists.
Tumblr media
The tale of an imaginative Droid named T0-B1 who dreams of becoming a hero like the Jedi he's heard so many stories of. This short gets extra credit for being so unyieldingly stylish and charming. On the surface of its presentation and story choices it seems like it doesn't know anything about Star Wars lore, but it's actually packed full of some pretty deep cuts that show the folk behind it do know what they're talking about and just don't fucking care what purists have to say. The entire thing is just "Yeah, I'm ignoring your lore, but I'm doing it in a fun way that makes the setting more interesting, and I'm so genuine about it that you can't be mad at me". I can respect that. Plus the old dude in that screenshot is an armless Jedi who's retired to be a botanist and that's just fucking cool.
Episode 7: The Elder I'm Episode 1, but better.
Tumblr media
This one. This shit right here. This is the good shit.
I'm sure y'all have heard before that Star Wars is directly inspired by Kurosawa and samurai films in general, but The Elder really digs into that hard. Where Episode 1 styles itself after a samurai tale, Episode 7 is a samurai tale. Subdued, methodical storytelling, slow-burn pace, charming dialogue amid believable characters, and a truly intimidating villain who provokes a brief but striking duel. This is my vibe. I crave more of this. Far and away the best short of the entire series.
Episode 8: Lop and Ocho Oh for fuck's sake, there's going to be so much porn of this bunny girl character, isn't there?
Tumblr media
This entry is another that kind of meanders with the story it's trying to tell and plays very loose with the lore. It reimagines a lot of what we know of the Jedi/The Rebels and Sith/The Empire into a feudal faction-based conflict akin to what you'd see in a period samurai drama. Modernization and callous industry crushing the spirit of the people and breaking apart families. A decent work overall, but nothing really all that impressive in the end. It takes too long to get going and then peters out halfway through its pay-off for some reason.
Episode 9: Akakiri The fact that I had to look up this episode's name and scenes online and still could not remember anything about it should tell you a lot.
Tumblr media
The series ends on a downer with the dramatic tale of a fallen Jedi who sacrifices himself and succumbs to the Dark Side. Turning evil for... the greater good? Wha? Had some pretty neat visuals, but I genuinely cannot remember a damn thing about this episode or its characters. Big swing and a miss in terms of impact.
