This one is Itachi and Ino in a yakuza AU! Itachi is a yakuza gangster and the sone of the gang’s oyabun, and Ino is a geisha who works at a tea house he frequents one day. She asks for his patronage and protection because her family is in trouble with a rival gang and in exchange she gives him valuable information about a rival gang planning a civil war intended to wipe out his gang’s upper echelon unless they can stop it. He is skeptical at first, but she proves her worth at charming and gathering information from people when they go to a night club run by one of his underworld associates.

There is an entire scene devoted to Itachi’s tattoos that I am very proud of, a car chase that ends in some very scandalous hand holding (!), and also a very steamy bath scene in every sense of that word. I would describe this fic as atmospheric and simmering. Inspirations include the deep water, bisexual lighting in that John Wick night club scene and a dream I had after watching Tokyo Vice.

This fic is in progress and the first three chapters are posted to AO3! I plan to finish it this year.

I’m very very very jealous of your NY trip, because I’d die to see JoJo in Moulin Rouge before she leaves.

(She is my Taylor Swift. Ive started to love Taylor this year, but JoJo is why I love music. A couple of re-recording queens.)

My dude, if she means that much to you take a weekend or even 48 hours and go see it. Life is too fucking short.

I have planned trips to NYC for musical related events 3 times:

1. In 2015 I planned a trip to see Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and the 2015 revival of Cabaret.

2. Last April I planned a trip to see Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden, which i’m so glad I did because he’s ending his residency there next year. And to see the first revival of Funny Girl in 50 years.

3. And I planned this current trip to come solely to see Parade. It’s the story of Leo Frank who is a Jewish man who lived in Marietta, Georgia (my hometown) in the early 1900’s and was wrongfully convicted (and sentenced to be hanged) in the death of a 13 year old girl. His death sentence was commutated by the Governor after the discovery of new evidence against someone else. After he was taken off death row he was kidnapped from prison by a racist militia-esq group and was lynched about 8 miles from the house I grew up in. As a Jewish southerner it is the most powerful and harrowing piece of theatre I have ever seen in my life. The cast recording is on streaming platforms and I could not recommend listening to it more. Especially if you have southern or Jewish heritage. (Especially the 2023 cast recording because both lead actors, Ben Platt, who plays Leo and Micaela Diamond, who plays his wife Lucille, are both Jewish. It’s the first time in this show’s 24 year existence that it’s had two Jewish leads.)
