[Book]- Susannah Martin
Tumblr media
Oh gosh...This. I wanted this done this month(2 months ago) and hopefully it got done. But not by itself sadly. (interestingly enough I haven't got wrist pain all this time) Ok, so stoping with goofing around, I challenged myself once again. Artwork without lineart. Since lineart is like the oxigen of my arts, I scrapped that out to try once again with my mouse. And oh would you believe it I hated it. I said I would give up for good 100% and the next day there I was: continuing the artwork. XD  So much for the ''give up'' part eh. This artwork is of Susannah Martin from the book 'How To Hang A Witch' by Adriana Mather. I chose this character because this month is Pride Month and (SPOILERS SKIP READING TO ''END SPOILERS'') this character is part of the LGBT+ community. Well, has a girlfriend to be exact. I don't know if she's lesbian or bi but I didn't want to assume so I just used the flag of the community (which also is the gay flag. Oh well.. X3) END OF SPOILERS So this took around 3-4 days, at first it was super flat (obviously) and it took a lot of support for me to actually continue. I made a lot of shading, but very soft shading. Usually I do know the human face because I had done portraits in the past on paper, but it was quite the challenge on computer. I don't know if I made the nose right or no because I'm never good with noses. Chose 3rd view perspective and with tutorials help I managed to make the base of the face. The body is my own take to it, I still think that it came out bad, but I'll live,no problem. For the dress I combined 2 dress designs I found on google: a very comfy (Puffy/Bishop type for the sleeves) and lace for the chest, as well as the rest that is more plain because it's a bust and not fullbody or half-body. The lace is from google ,I didn't make that, but I grayscaled it in a brush texture! The hair texture is from google too (the only 2 that are from google). I really love how I made the eyes. Probably the only thing I love (and I don't love my art too often that's for sure). Basically made the first set of lines like for dragons, then I copied and moved a little and again and again and then I merged them! Though I didn't find any mention of her eye color so I went with brown. The eye lashes were PAIN. Too the eyes didn't entierly get that watery-slimy reflecting feel to them, even if I tried T_T One thing I love about Susannah is that she is having almost always her hair in a perfect high bun and is so gentle and also seems like a balerina to Samantha (the main character) ,as in she's so graceful with all of herself. And then there's a moment in the story (except another moment from the second book) where she has 1-2 strands of hair down her face and is showing that she's not ''100% perfect'' and that even little things like these is not a problem. And the background... A candle-lit room. I don't know if it's day or night, let's think this is in the secret room. Ok this took long to write too XD Well this is the end! I'm never going to draw humans again digitally T_T Too hard. But this was worth it. This too is like a gift for the author and the persons that knew she will become a writer and who supported her because I got to read not only a book that kind of reminds me of Puzzleshipping, but also a book about how you shouldn't judge others (which I already knew for a long time) by looks or name (in this case) and that you don't have to be silent about bullying. You got to have the courage to speak up about it and so ,the cycle can end even if it leaves deep 'scars' for people.
