Poseidon x Moon god reader

Notes: gender neutral reader

The sea and the moon, a tale almost as old as the world itself. The moon, so far away from the seas, yet it controls the ever changing tides. It would seem to be fate that the two of you would seem drawn to each other.

Poseidon, god of the seas. y/n, god of the moon. Your fates were intertwined, as much as you wanted to deny it at first. He was cold, cocky, seemingly unfeeling, and sometimes downright cruel. You couldn't stand him, well only at first. It seemed fate had chosen to shove the two of you together at any opportunity.

You were walking down the streets of Olympus, tired from guiding the moon all night, when you bumped into someone accidentally.

"I'm so sorry-" You said before you looked up. Seeing the blond god scowling down at you your expression of shock turned into a scowl.

"Apologies." You curtly snipped, bending over to grab the items you had dropped when you bumped into him.

He watched you with slight fascination, no one would ever look at him- let alone talk to him- like that. You were interesting, that was for sure.

As you were collecting your items, he noticed a small jar of bath salts that had rolled out of your view. He bent down to pick it up, but by the time he went to return it to you, you were gone.

You were relieved to have gotten away from him so fast- seriously you though he was going to kill you just from looking at him funny! You hadn't noticed your missing bath salts until you had arrived home, guess you weren't getting those back.

Much to your own dismay however, it wouldn't be long before you saw the tyrant of the seas again. On your very next daily walk back to your abode from guiding the moon, you instantly spotted the same blond haired man from before. The only difference was this time he looked like he was looking for something. You desperately hoped he wouldn't spot you while looking for- whatever he was looking for as you tried to sneak by.

"Hey, moon god." A deep voice rumbled from behind you. Shit. It looks like your luck had run out. You hesitantly looked back at him, his icy eyes seemed to pierce into the deepest parts of your being.

You stood as straight as you could when you fully turned your body to face him, might as well stand proud if he was going to kill you. How ever you were a little confused when he rummaged through his pocket to pull out a small, familiar jar.

"You dropped this yesterday." He said with the same indifferent voice from before as he held out the small jar of bath salts to you.

"O-Oh thank you." You said as you gingerly took the small jar out of his palm. You were extra careful to not touch his palms, but once you had it in your hands you held it close to your chest.

Poseidon simply nodded and walked away, your eyes following him as he left. Why such a powerful god would even bother to return your things was beyond you, but it lightened your opinion of him ever so slightly.

Your relationship would continue to grow over the years, starting out with simple encounters like this one, to visiting each other's homes. You grew closer and closer with every passing day. Eventually, despite his cold demeanor, he confessed his affection affection.

It felt like nothing would ever break the two of you apart. He was the ocean, and you were the moon who held his heart.
