ya joking about kentuckystroke is funny and all, but if we can be really for real for a second, drawing a connection between slade's character and the very specific cultural weirdnesses & religious... issues of rural appalachia is one of the most big-brained ideas in the history of comic books

it's only directly addressed like once & the rest of the time, it's just in subtle little references to a religious upbringing, but it's such an insanely perfect fit that all those disparate character traits i could just never really manage to find believable because there was no clear through-line or reason for any of it instantly added up like the second that fool started quoting the kjv from memory, everything about him suddenly made perfect sense

his weirdass "code" & completely amoral outlook on life has nothing to do with his brain being fried by being used as a human lab rat or as a way to rationalize murdering people for a living or whatever. that's literally just what growing up baptist does to a dude

On the topic of Mochijun, Im sorry to say, but the pace of Vanitas no Carte is just so killed for me right now, I cant really feel anything about it for more than a moment, catch me when chapters are normal length or something spectacular happens and its impact can be properly conveyed through 16 pages- 😔✌️

#have been attempting to make a self-tape for this audition for DAYS #after a whole helluva lotta bullshit having to do with hunting down a time+space+camera to film with i Finally managed to get some takes #then some weird bullshit with the camera's sd card happened where i wasnt able to pull the files off onto my laptop #FINALLY able to copy the files to my laptop. i think some people are setting their expectations wayyyy too high for what shadow will be written like now. "the mandates are COMPLETELY gone shadow is fixed now guys!!" no theyre not literally all they said is that the rules have changed a little. like dont get me wrong thats good news too but a lot of people are exaggerating and setting themselves up for disappointment in my opinion

#also i dont really like how people talk about The Mandates tm as if theyre this evil force looming over the comics #thats only affecting how shadow is written and literally nothing else so we need to lift all of them now to fix the sonic franchise #when in reality its a set of rules and restrictions that sega has for how people should handle their characters #which isnt inherently unreasonable. especially considering the reason they started getting more strict with this stuff #and why theyre monitoring idw sonic so closely #(hint its because of archie sonic. go read every single issue ken penders wrote #and come back and tell me if you still think its a good idea for sega to allow complete creative freedom with no rules at all)#likes YES some of the rules are stupid especially the ones about shadow but sega having rules for their characters isnt inherently bad #and undoing all of them isnt the perfect solution here.#again pre reboot archie sonic shows perfectly what can happen when people can do whatever they want with the characters #with no input from sega #also some of the rules arent even like. bad?#like the no romance rule is awesome. love that. and the rule that game characters cant be killed off makes perfect sense to me #idk

Like it was one of the rarest shows asking the viewers to use their brain for once and they cancelled it.

It had an international multilingual cast actually speaking their own languages for once and they cancelled it.

Plus I'm sure the writers had a plot ready for a specific number of seasons and no more, like they had with Dark, and they still cancelled it.
