@chaos-cohort : Well first of all: I WANT TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR ANIMATIC IDEAS PLEASE. 👀

Well if you insist!

The autism in my mind has been really focused on Elsie Roberts from the new chapter of Candela, mainly because she’s a Jekyll/Hyde type of character and I’m a sucker for monster designs!

I was working on her monster design while listening to spooky music for the vibes and Confrontation from the Jekyll and Hyde musical popped up and the autism got to work on making a full blown animated music video in my mind that I had to physically stop drawing for the length of the song!

(Scenes ideas below)

I’m gonna go crazy a bit too with scene ideas!

First big thing! Lyrics would be on the screen but they would be altered (only in written form) to words relating to the characters. So ‘Jekyll’ gets replaced with ‘Elsie’ or ‘Roberts’ and ‘Hyde’ gets replaced with ‘The Beast’ or just ‘Beast.’

It basically starts with Elsie in her lab, dealing with the fact that she created a monster inside of her.

She sings in front of a mirror during the words ‘Am I a good man? Am I a mad man.’ When Hyde starts singing Elsie notices a large shape in the mirror’s reflection but when she turns nothing is there, but when she turns back around during ‘You will never get away from me’ her reflection is gone and all she sees is the beast.

Most of the middle is Elsie arguing with the beast as versions of it appear in shadows, scientific notes, reflections in beakers, etc. tormenting her as she slowly becomes more stressed. (If you seen the episode you know what lots of stress leads too :3).

During the ‘I’ll live inside you forever’ section, Elsie becomes incredibly stressed as the beast grows larger and she starts to smash and rip things that contain its visage. During ‘They’ll never be able to separate Jekyll from Hyde’ the beast appears behind Elsie, towering over her and launching its self towards her. (Screen goes dark and refocuses on Elsie breathing heavily)

Okay this bit! This part of the song has Jekyll and Hyde singing back to back (one line after the other) and basically Elsie switches between herself and the beast, distinguished by her having a scared and stressed appearance while the beast has red eyes, sharp teeth, and a wide smile.

After ‘I am you, you are Hyde’ Elsie faces the mirror again during the speaking segment, seeing the beast stare at her instead of her reflection.

Elsie: Damn you Beast! Take all your evil deeds and rot in Hell!

Beast: I’ll see you there Roberts!

The beast then lunges from the mirror, mouth open, and collides with Elsie, leading to a silhouette shot of her form changing into the beast during the final instrumental section.

(Sorry this is long. I absolutely love your animatic idea and I wanted to share mine as well.)

1. oh damn I have multiple favorites! I think ones that I enjoy the most (at the moment) are them

(yellow: Lee Harrison | blue: Bryan Dickinson)

they are basically a (in the 2000s) newbie punk band formed by two friends who are like brothers to each other. they bonded over both having not so great families (not like tragic-backstory awful but yknow. the average traditional family)

yeah I still can't figure out what their band name would be. yeah since 2020. sorry. such is life.

while they're not the ones I've wrote the most about, as in not much at all, I just really like them :)

2. Bartholomew. I used to like him then I realize how generic he is so I hate him now (/j) (yeah I actually do want to post about him less though)

3. been thinking about the dynamic normal human x immortal who finds them in every life. so simple and common but I go insane over it every time. I think it would be fun

there have been like 5 people who pointed out that they look like a couple and you're right and I fucking hate that you're right. and they were roommates etc

hello! its ok if you dont wanna answer if this is too much of a broad question, but as an artist plagued by Thoughts i have a lot of animatic ideas but no idea how to approach actually making them. do you have any tips on that + staying motivated? thx in advance :)

UMM i go pretty in depth here about my process if that seems like itd be helpful to you! (maybe i should pin this post HAHA)

but other than that just like, purely motivational wise im gonna pull a little shia labeouf on you and say Just Do It, pick up that got damn pencil or however ur drawing and draw those silly characters moving dammit!!!! even if you think it looks like ass youll only improve from trying!! get ur stuff out there go go go

I was going to send this ask earlier, but I got sidetracked by life.

I hope you're enjoying my Phandrow playlist as I am! I hope I did your story justice, and I actually wanted to tell you why I chose certain songs for this ship. Now, a good portion is self-explanatory (Phantom of the Opera, Edgar Allan Poe, dramatic love songs via Dracula and the Addams Family), but it's the very first four songs that I believe are truly the embodiment of "Of Curses and Verses".

The Gloom - a ballad of sorts about depression, describing a person who lives in the gloom. This is the introduction to Woodrow AND Phantom, two different characters who find each other within the shadows of their misfortune.

Disappear - a tragic and heartbreaking love song that holds on to whatever spark of hope (ha!) is left. Like The Gloom, Disappear is Phantom and Woodrow spilling their hearts out to each other while hanging out inside the fallen moon in Pallette Prime. They're both very unlucky in life and they reach out to each other, desiring to be understood yet worried about the limited amount of time they have.

The Dark Ones - Now this one is more of an fan interpretation, as this song is a combination of Phantom's quote, "...and damn the consequences", and Woodrow's overwhelming urge to write his poetry shown through creeping nightmares. The Dark Ones tempt our sad boi poet into giving up his creative abstinence and relish in its misfortune. Also, I imagined this as an animatic where the embodiment of unluckiness, in the form of Phantom, seduces Woodrow and thus driving him into madness a la running into the woods. 👉👈

The Dawn - The bittersweet end of the story. Things have been somewhat better, both lovers are still depressed and yet there's a sense of freedom between them. Their love didn't die with the Gloom, and they both live for each other as they comfort each other through their worst times.

I swear, every time I think about "Of Curses and Verses" or Phandrow in general, these two become more and more like a Gothic novel couple.

Oh I totally getcha, "Side-tracked by life" is the story of my... well, my life, lol

But YES, I appreciate all this so much- you really seem to understand the appeal of them as a couple in the same way I do, and what I was trying to do in the fanfic. Rest assured the playlist will serve me as plenty of inspiration in the future, for both drawings and fics :D Because I will be obsessed with them forever even if Phantom comes back in the Rayman DLC and looks directly in the camera and says "By the way, I met Woodrow. Can't stand him." I WILL STILL MAKE IT WORK. I BELIEVE

And by the way, when I get back to Music of the Night, it definitely focuses more on the monstrous/dark temptation aspect... it's a shame I'm going on a trip this weekend because I actually want to write more RIGHT NOW

i think it would work really well with mmm slightly post lmanburg niki. andby slightly i mean. well when she leaves (that is the whole thing of the song gdfjkhgsdf) also side note at like 1 minute 11 on that song theres a discord notification really subtly in the background and it makes me paranoid every time i hear it. anyway god its such a nice song. even for just like. the end of lmanburg. not necesarily paired with a character, just the sense of leaving a place that was so highly populated before it got blown up twice and was like. the main part of the smp. yeah. anyway also the lines "they'll knock down the pubs before helping you...they'll let you jump under trains before helping you" yeah those four lines have big niki vibes but also i think the song could work well with exile tommy or actually even with the finale when tubbo is about to sacrifice himself? mmmmm yeah

mmmm got exile tommy vibes innit. a lot of these have exile tommy vibes tbf i just like sad songs and also exile tommy. plus the song has a lot of like. the message is sort of like. changing yourself to appeal to others? like with "ill cut my hair to make you stare" but also the repeated thing of "ill figure out a way to get us out of here" which is clearly the main character of the song trying to help everyone when they are clearly not in a good way themself. yeah thats got big tommy vibes in general tbh but more like. pre finale tommy. i think he got a bit more independant after that.

ok this is self explanatory and has been done to death already but d a m n its kinda funky. anyway i had thoughts and actually started this but then lost motivation and deleted it all lmaooo. the only proof of its existance is a shitty storyboard in my draw which will hopefully never see the light of day again (unless anyone wants to see it :eyes:) anyway i had the thought of like. sbi? so soldier techno poet wilbur and king tommy. but tbf tommy and techno are kinda interchangeable with that, cos while techno is obviously the better fighter, tommy is used a lot, especially in lmanberg era and also i think he probably will be now that wilburs back

ok so i honestly dont remember why this is on the playlist but tbf this could go well with a bunch of characters. thinking like. phil and wilbur? or wil and tommy, or tubbo and ranboo are two that like. i know for a fact that i did not put the song on the playlist specifically for them but god thinking about it now it works so well with them

I think this could probably work really well with tommy? because of the whole like. trying really hard to come across as not caring about others, but really being like. very vunerable. but at the same time it could go really well with wilbur for the same reasons. also the song fucks ok cant deny it. to be fair i think it works better with tommy, because he's younger and also he really likes bugs (unless i am mistaken) which is just a cool coincidence but still)

i added it because of tommy and tubbo because holy shit, but also it could work very very well with wilbur and tommy, techno and wilbur, probably techno and tommy, and oh my god i just thought of this but this would work so well with phil and techno!!!! but yeah i originally thought tommy and tubbo because i thought it was a funny coincidence with exile tommy waking up underwater, and theres a line that says "if you were drowned at sea, id give you my lungs so you could breathe" and like. just thinking about the compasses especially. me gusta.

no ok this works well with fundy but also probably karl sapnap and quackity, and also very much wilbur, like it works well with both. just mainly fundy idk why its got big fundy vibes tho. very poggers.

ok but like this goes very very well with the explosions of lamberg. either of them. i think probably the first one is better, but i think it goes well with both. probably the first one, because it was way more emotional i think? cos it was the first time that their homes had been destroyed and everything, but also because it was so personal, because wilbur was the one who did it. i think that also it would work well if it was set during the explosion but also focussed on different facets? so like. one bit about wilburs perspective, one bit about tommys, one about phils, one about fundys maybe? idk just a bunch of lmaburg citizens' povs for this. its good. as the world caves in is a song that can be so gender tbh.

so like. tw suicide but thats what the entire song is about and bing bang boom i just think it works so so so so so so so well with not only exile tommy (who obviously did try to kill himself) but also wilbur in a slightly more metaphorical way? so like. his self destructive habits leading him to a point where he had no choice other than to kill himself and to take his country down with him. and its all about other characters trying to help them and persuade them not to but also near the end there is a second voice trying to persuade them to go along with it, which im thinking like. if its wilbur, either dream or maybe just himself. his own brain persuading him to continue down the path that would inevitably lead to his and his countries destruction. also it works well with schlatt for the same reasons, except he doesnt want to die. maybe (since the song is so goddamn long) like. one verse for tommy one for wilbur and one for schlatt? dead gang poggg but also like. the verses cover fairly different things which work with one character but not so much the others, for example the first verse would be tommy because its mainly about persuading the person to not kill themself (which tommy did himself but shhh) the second for schlatt because its literally about drinking and smoking away your problems, and the third for wilbur since its more of a fight between the "good" and the "bad" sides, which is obviously what wilbur was experiencing. also obviously i have a soft spot for this song because its string instruments and french, basically my favourite combination ever (also i like his voice idfk lmao)

CONTEXT: the last few episodes of given were coming out when the 19-20 school year started and the episode with this song in it came out while i was in class. naturally, i sat there in my 7th period AP lang class and watched it on my phone. problem is, the scene when this song is played shatters me like 50 stacked panes of glass under a hydraulic press and i needed to cry but couldn't because the room was PIN-DROP SILENT. needless to say the moment class was over i made a run for it and cried like a little baby to my confused but ultimately supportive friends. you're a core high school memory and an Emotionally Taxing Bop and you remind me both of wintery cool tones and the silly school memories i wish i hadn't taken for granted. like a snow day except i'm from california so i've never had that sauce. i respect it regardless

oh god the memories. this one was from when i was really head over heels obsessed w this dude and at my peak yearning hours i wrote a wattpad journal entry saying i was gonna listen to this song on repeat until i "fell out of love with him." i forget the details but i guess i did? what this says about you i have absolutely no idea but the song is still a whole vibe and you remind me of funky shades of pink and purple so i respect u immensely

this breakdown was yesterday! i was reccommended this song by a friend and immediately fell in love, but it didn't fully hit until the song's climax. and let me tell you. it BROKE me. the a capella beginning, with the piano slowly coming in, then the strings, and suddenly it's growing and crescendoing and-- there it is. my synesthesia goes wild and i lack the language to describe what it looks like other than absolutely grandiose and gold and christ i'm rambling but despite it's simplicity-- or maybe BECAUSE of its simplicity-- if love were a song, it'd be this one. almost all of the other entries are funny anecdotes where i seem to cry about the silliest things but this one i genuinely cannot come up with a joke for and i'm probably biased right now because i'm listening to it on repeat again but damn. you won. you're golden.
