I started this one before the trope ones and spent months fighting with my art style to try and draw Boxy. Still unsure of how I feel about what I settled on for this but hopefully I'll get better in the future.

To cap off this pride month, a few of my queer headcanons for Carmen Sandiego (2019) characters!

I headcanon Player as a trans boy and Carmen as a trans woman! I also definitely think Carmen's sapphic but I don't have a more specific identity in mind for her.

Julia is a lesbian ofc. Her shirt is inspired by this retro lesbian shirt! If I had seen it before inking I would have made it an actual shirt with a collar and all but alas I saw it too late.

And I headcanon Devineaux as a trans man. His jacket was heavily based on this vintage jacket, obviously with the colors reworked. That's his new lucky coat probably.

(I have headcanons for other characters but since they're less fixed I won't talk about them here)

i like bad special effects. meaning not just old and outdated (which in a lot of cases were actually groundbreaking for their time, but i digress) but also low-budget or rushed or just kinda corny and poorly executed. i think it adds charm where a lot of more polished productions are lacking.

#i don't think this is a particularly hot take on this website #i think a lot of us here also appreciate special effects that are either outdated but were brilliant at the time #or are just flat-out bad by any standard but still enjoyable in a campy way #but like. when the untamed was popular on here i saw a lot of people saying like 'just ignore the bad special effects lol'#when personally i ADORED the special effects in that show #up to and including the shitty animatronic dog lmao #i think they really added something to the atmosphere and the melodrama of it all #and slicker special effects would've made it a worse show.#feels a bit more like you're watching a stage play if you can peek around the curtain in this way #which is very fitting for the sort of show it is! it's very theatrical and dramatic and everything is a big fucking deal!#and you have to make the active choice to suspend your disbelief and get invested #in the idea that this flagrantly fake dog puppet is scary #it's sort of like i'm being asked to collaborate in the story i guess?#if the sfx isn't perfect then my conscious participation is necessary to make it land #so the overall result feels more personal and meaningful because i had to commit to it

man i was so excited to download puyo chronicle when i first hacked my 2ds since it never ran that well on our home pc with citra and it ran even worse on my laptop. but i didnt get that far into it for reasons that i assumed were just because i wasnt as into puyo anymore at the time. well. now im here again. and im realizing maybe this game just isnt very good

#im in the ice area right now and theres really not a very good sense of forward momentum in the story lol #the character models look nice but the writing is pretty flat #and the common enemy encounters are pretty lame #at some point i just started avoiding and running away from them #theres not much incentive to do them? most of them go down with a four chain anyway which is. yknow #pretty easy to do even for a beginner since they start you out with a 3 chain setup from the getgo #i also need a word with whoever had the brilliant idea of making you do ice puzzles when you cant even see that far in front of you #like thats the thing i dont even MIND ice puzzles in fact sometimes i actually really like them!!!#but when you cant even see the spot youll stop at next it just becomes guesswork #which sucks #bri talks #i still intend to get to the end just to say ive done it #but i dont think ill be replaying it any time soon

i live here with the love of my life or whatever!!! we’ve been watching starstruck and playing BG3. in the past week, i’ve made chocolate chip cookies with pretzel bits, a seedy whole wheat bread, pesto with my own basil, rosemary garlic flatbreads, banana-bread-spice-cake, lemon garlic chicken soup. it might get cool enough to open the windows this week. we’re hosting a board game night with friends in a couple days. we are talking about maybe adopting a wee beastie. this is good. 💗

#it’s a big two bedroom and i had the initially controversial but brilliant idea to #make the ‘living room’ the dining room and the ‘second bedroom’ the den #so the big kitchen table is the hearth of the main living space and movie nights are so so cozy!#and the ‘dining room’/breakfast nook is a reading/study space #it’s such a good setup i love it!#and this apartment is kinda old (but recently renovated) and it’s got so many weird angles and quirks but in a cute charming way #like how in the sims weird shaped spaces improve your sim’s environmental happiness #anyway #eventually we’ll put more stuff on the walls too #there’s also a wet bar. we filled it with board games.#and oh oh the balcony faces southeast so my bbs get SO much sun my malabar spinach is THRIVING 💚#also also Books is suuuch a good housemate bless #i haven’t had to clean the bathroom once since we’ve been here #also also every friday can be… you know 😌

Crafting update: I somehow managed to hit myself in the ear with a chair so instead of crafting I have an icepack tied to my head lol

#the person behind the yarn #injury mention #it's not that bad an injury just a bruise I'm just allergic to all NSAIDs so ice is my friend #I am being safe using the ice pack for a limited time and do not have the ice pack directly against my skin #(in case anyone was worried)#I have a rolly desk chair and it's one of those big semi-fancy ones #because it's my dad's old chair but it broke and will no longer go up or down #luckily I am short so the shortest setting of the chair is perfect for me #but! big fairly heavy chair for a rolly chair #I have one of those mat things under it so it can roll on the carpet but it keeps sliding under my desk #so I had the brilliant idea of sitting on the floor and pulling on the mat thing to get it back out from under the desk and where it belongs #and it worked! I just did not think about the fact that the chair was ON the mat #and that when I pulled the mat the chair would also move #weirdly this marks the second time I have bruised an ear with a chair #but the other time I hit the chair and it stayed still. This time it was vice versa lol

I am just torn between 'I just LOOOOOVE her' and 'why not I thought of this idea?!', because Cainhurst does interact with the 'faraway land' (Japan). And in fact, seems like since Pthumeru Ihyll it was the case- Idk, man, Shadows of Yharnam wield some katanas if I remember right? I would be absolutely not surprised if her blood IS, in fact, so special BECAUSE of 'cursed' Vileblood genetic mixing with the one from that country! I have a headcanon that it was encouraged through generations of Pthumeru Ihyll to mix with the humans to water down the curse within their blood, so they don't end up being walking corpses, Snatcher no-braincells brutes or even living gargoyles (the latter DOES happen in canon)... And currently, it is just encouragement to seek people as genetically distant as possible, in the case if 'vampiric' traits are dominant. A mixed child might as well take the best traits from both sides! So, this idea also appeals to my own bias a lot <:3

But it is also awesome because it expands the backstory between Maria and Adeline QUITE a lot! Also Brador you lil' shit, of course you got that nice man by the throat :/

now that dumb ways to die is finally making a comeback, i need a compilation of rly stupid fire emblem gameplay deaths

#DCB Comments #my dumbest way i've ever had a unit die was in por chapter 27 when ike had damage on my turn already #from the previous enemy phase but i was getting desperate bc i didn't wanna redo the chapter #bc like if i don't get nasir i will literally redo the chapter fuck ena idk what intsys was even thinking #making her unit as worthless as it is. no nasir no victory. so in my desperation i attacked #with damage taken. bc my brilliant idea was to attack and get hit again so that mist could heal all the damage taken #but wah wah i had to redo the whole chapter anyway bc SOMEONE activated luna on me #i was relying on either aether going off or luna NOT going off but i had a massive wah wah #this wasn't recent but it did happen and i absolutely learned my fucking lesson LOL #titania: i think ike has grown enough to judge if he can win #soren: i don't like it. in fact i disagree. in fact this is a terrible idea. in fact what if he's impatient bc he only has five turns #also the other dumbest way to lose a unit is to have them standing in front of the house in chapter 11 #when you kill the boss bc bk walks out when the boss dies. i always make sure mordecai is #already past that area while im getting zihark before killing the boss #but yes i do absolutely agree with the lyric ''so many dumb ways to die'' for fe and that's why i need a compilation #y'all needa tell me your dumbest fe ways you've lost a unit and had to reset #if you played on casual it still counts bc they had to retreat lol #edit: actually no i remember that happened twice. there was a time when i attacked on my turn with full hp #but that was after mist healed so i had damage then she healed then i attacked on my turn #and then luna activated on the enemy phase so no that shit actually happened to me TWICE #and i am not sure which one of those times i learned my fckn lesson but i absolutely did #edit again: also npc and enemy phase deaths that are rly dumb are also valid i need those too
