I'm considering where/how to place Sweden in my cardverse, and though he's related to royals in the AU, he's not on any throne, so…

I'm thinking he'd fit really well as the head of education. OwO A Minister(?) of Education. A good King and Queen knows how to delegate tasks to suitable people, after all, and Sweden would make a really good head of Education. OwO .

(Also, I'd be able to use all of the Fantasy Schools I've been building for other stuff as well). OwO

Yandere Intro to the Cardverse Drabble - King of Clubs Russia

Oh boy, when the King of Clubs took a liking to you when he viewed you through the mirror that can see into different realms he was enamored by you and how you choose to live out your life. Simple but there was something about you that made his mind run rampant with possibilities.

He’s been watching you live your life for a while in his courtroom with some of his subjects passively watching. Since it prevented him from being as crazy and unruly as he normally would be if he didn’t have any distractions. His daydreams and fantasies of you will eventually manifest themselves in his partially sentient and beloved scarf.

It wished to fulfill the desires that he held close to his heart.

The king of clubs is going to get his way.

A Yakutian Laika in a gorgeous white coat that was full and fluffy. Powerful yet playful. You thinking nothing of it when the innocent hound came towards you on your way back home from work. The dog drew you in like a moth to the flames with its angelic mauve eyes and pure white coat. Its appearance was borderline hypnotic it’s eyes also looked like they held the galaxy within them. There were specks of stardust that glazed the top of the dogs' irises. All you could think to do was pet him. Doggo was beckoning to you. And you weren’t going to ignore a siren song.

I hope you don’t like your own autonomy because you are about to lose it when you pet the dog and allow it to come in contact with you. Your gateway key.

You’ll be taken by surprise when you stop petting it that your surroundings are no longer within the confines of the human world.

You are no longer in your reality.

Vulnerable to the 4 Kings and their followers.

“What in the world where am I?”

“Home. You must be dazed and confused but I can help you.” You hear a man's voice with a thick Russian accent ring out from in front of you. His smile is saccharine but his body language read as menacing. His left foot inches closer to your now collapsed figure.

“You come with me.” He reached out his gargantuan hand towards youtube you refused to take it. You scoot backward on the grass that had strange species of flowers that you’d never seen before. Clover blooms were white and green with hints of holographic gold that refracted the light that hit its leaves.

‘Yep, I’m 1005 on a drug trip right now.’

You didn’t appreciate the way your lucid dream wasn’t letting you voluntarily break through the veil of fantasy for it had become your new prison.

That prison may have been lined with rainbows, a playful violet and azure sky that blended together in an ombre fashion that was perfect and mesmerizing.

“ I see that you do not have trust in me sunflower.”

A scarf had been draped over your eyes and you could feel it move but the man in front of you was hovering over you motionless.

‘This thing is… ALIVE?!?’

It coiled around your next as if it were trying to comfort you. You were trembling by now and your mind was unable to come up with any good plan on how to react… you freeze as if you were the main subject in a photograph.

‘They’re cute when their fight or flight has kicked in.’

A warm but comforting sensation filled your body as if you had just entered a piping hot sauna. You were oddly calm.

You actually allow Ivan to pick you up unconsciously. Your much smaller form is engulfed by his larger and more imposing form. Your limbs twist around his neck in a feeble attempt to stabilize yourself.

You wanted to feel safe and this was the closest to safety that you would be able to attain.

His scarf will intertwine your bodies closer in a subtle way of sealing your fate to the Clover King.

What's your favorite cardverse fic?

The first fic that came to mind when I read this was an unfinished fic from fanfic.net that is, single-handedly, the reason I only read completed fics nowadays. I read this years ago when it was still regularly updating but a few new chapters were added in 2021 and so I need to read it again.

It’s called A King and His Hero by HiddenSunrise. From what I remember, the first few chapters were enough to get me hooked. It’s a USUK fic and the premise of the story is that Clubs has invaded Spades so Arthur uses his magic to get teleport him and Alfred out of the castle to save the King’s life. Alfred’s upset about being taken out of the fight and it then follows them making their way back to the castle and just overall a really interesting plot and good character depth as far as I remember. It’s been years since I’ve read this and writing this made me really want to read it againnn.

However, if it’s recommendations you want, it really depends on what you’re looking for because I have read a lot of cardverse fics:

I am like an encyclopaedia of vague fic plots hence why I bookmark everything because I always forget the names.

There are two cardverse fics that I have publicly recommended which are:

Exceptis Centum by PurrV. Which I think is the fic where Alfred gets magically transported to a room where Arthur. If it is, then I can’t say much about the plot without spoiling it but basically Spades has been without a Queen for a hundred years and I think Alfred gets teleported every night to Arthur’s room where they chat and Alfred tries to solve the mystery of what’s happening. It’s multichapter and there’s some mention of kind of dubious character later on but I don’t think they ever appear outside of the characters talking about them.

(I wish I had bookmarked my favourite fics with some note attached because I can’t remember exactly why I recommend this. Might’ve been for the writing, might’ve been for the plot or maybe it was just for the ending guess you’ll have to read it and find out lol.)

And The Sleeping Beauty of Spades by Pastaaddict. (I am now noticing that both of these fics have some fairytale elements…) Anyway, this is a oneshot where Arthur’s in a coma and they have to find a way to wake him up.

When AO3 is finished with maintenance I’ll add the links and maybe read them again or check my private bookmarks for other one’s that I remember at enjoying.

This is just me rambling about really needing to re-read my ao3 rec list lmao

These recommendations are killing me and AO3’s down right now so I can’t even reread them to see if past me treated my public rec’s with the pickiness it deserves. In all honestly, the description of these doesn’t intrigue me at all but I think that is probably why I recced them- because they’re better than I thought they’d be. Like keep in mind there’s 6 pages of bookmarks that aren’t in my rec list even if I have no idea why I recced these two lmao.

It just throws me off because my favourite type of Cardverse stories to read are multichapter fics where their mark has just appeared/they’re relationship is developing and ideally throw in pirate Arthur as well lol. I think some of my recommendations are good stories that I enjoyed reading but they just didn’t stick with me as well as others that I didn’t even rec (like one where Arthur saves Alfred, so Alfred uses Spades magic to rewind time to save Arthur only for the second fic to kill Arthur off. Like bro I haven’t read that fic in years and I still remember it with the same dismay.)

Hi there! I'm sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if cardverse week was going to happen in 2023? I would love to see the event return!

Sorry for the wait on the reply! I didn’t see this ask until today, my bad. Also you’re not being a bother at all, I kind of expected an ask like this sooner or later so I’ve been trying to think of an answer.

The short answer would be: Maybe? It could happen in the summer. I might post an interest check in the spring.

The long answer would be: I’m not really in the Hetalia fandom anymore. I really enjoyed hosting the event last year and to be honest, I didn’t expect it to get as much attention as it did and it kind of overwhelmed me though I got the hang of it towards the end. I also kind of forgot about this blog after the event passed. Anyways, even though I’m not into Hetalia anymore I’m definitely willing to bring the event back for 2023. Probably during the summer since I have more free time then.
