one day x lando norris pt 2

this is a part of my series following one day of every summer from 2016 onwards in y/n’s and landos lives, exploring their friendship and love for one another. ofc not a smooth ride with some angst and fights along the way. a friends to lovers, growing up together kind of thing. read first part here pairing: lando norris x fem!reader summary of this part: lando and y/n crushing hard on each other without the other one knowing. roadtrip to the beach and that kind of cosiness. warnings: a bit of angst? wc: 1,6k

summer of 2017

”are you sure you don’t want the professional race car driver to drive there?” lando said with a concerned voice.

”does this look a race car? it’s a car suited for grandmothers, i could probably run faster than this car can drive. stop being such a wuss now and jump in” y/n demanded.

lando jokingly crossed himself and told a little prayer before entering the passenger seat. y/n laughed and rolled her eyes at her scared friend.

”i know i only just got my license but i’m actually a decent driver! and besides that i’m the one of us that actually drive on roads, safely, while you’re out there almost killing yourself every other weekend.”

”okay, okay i get it, i trust you, just please keep us alive, i have a race in hungary this weekend”

”we will just have to hope for the best dear” y/n responded driving away.

while lando and y/n continued bickering about who of them was the best driver y/n drove along the english shoreline heading for a viewing point. she hadn’t seen him in a while and really missed him during the long periods of being apart. y/n tried her best at concentrating on the road and making a good impression of her driving skills but at the same time she couldn’t stop looking at lando and his beautiful smile. he truly made her so happy with his presence which she hadn’t really realized up until now.

it was almost a year now since that podium kiss in austria and ever since that their friendship had developed into a special bond. y/n was still crushing quite hard on lando and without her knowing he was too. they’d never really talked about what happened in austria and although they had a very flirtatious friendship it had never lead to anything between them since that podium. this friendship that had now lasted almost a year felt like a once in a lifetime kind of thing and no-one of them wanted to ruin it by expressing their feelings for one another and maybe ruining it all. eventually it had led to them both staying away from any kind of topic regarding their feelings.

”y/n? what are you thinking about?” lando said waking y/n up from her spiraling thoughts.

”oh, ehm.. nothing. ju-.. just trying to figure out where-, how we’re going to find a nice viewing point before the sun sets” y/n said trying to sound as calmly as she could.

”oh okay, well i know a place. if you just take a left over there and go up that road” lando answered while pointing to a road that was approaching. y/n drove as instructed and after a while reaching a beautiful spot that had a view over the water and a nearby beach.

”wow this is nice lan, good job. i guess i now know where you take all your girls” y/n winked and playfully nudged lando’s arm trying to seem as unbothered as possible.

”not aaall girls but one thing i can tell you is that this spot has never failed me with the girls, soo-” lando cheekingly told y/n returning the nudge.

y/n laughed. ”oh you wish norris! i’m not falling that easily, and what makes you think i’m like your other girls? i actually have more than IQ 50”

”heey that last girl actually a decent gcse!” lando whined.

”woow your standards are very high, i’m impressed. you do realize that that describes almost every girl in this country?” y/n joked as lando laughed and shook his head. ”well we will see y/n, don’t be so sure that you can resist me at a place like this” lando winked at the girl. y/n laughed denying it all while thinking that there was nothing that she wanted more than to be lando’s girl.

moments later at the nearby beach

lando was running into the cold water squealing about how it felt worse than ice baths. he looked back at y/n standing on the beach fully dressed with no intention to go for a dip. ”come on now y/n it’s really not that bad!” lando shouted. y/n looked at lando who was clearly freezing and trying to hide it the best he could. ”lan you’re not convincing anyone that it’s not cold, i can see your goosebumps from miles away” she shouted back.

”okay well i bet you’re too much of -”

”lando stop, you can’t just make a bet for everything you want me to do?! that’s not how life works!” y/n interrupted before the curly headed boy could come up with the seventy-third betting game of their friendship.

lando laughed seeing that y/n once again couldn’t resist his stupid ideas and started to remove her sweater. she continued taking off her skirt and top revealing the black bikini underneath. luckily lando was a bit further out in the ocean so y/n couldn’t hear his ”wow” when he saw her for the first time in that small amount of clothes. he kept admiring how beautiful she was walking down to the water while y/n tried to cover up a bit more of her body with her arms.

y/n gasped when entering the water and also tried to put on her best show of convincing lando that the water wasn’t at all cold. slowly she waded out in the direction of the boy with full concentration on the coldness of the water against her skin and also on not stepping on any fish. while y/n struggled with this lando chuckled a bit further out in the water without looking away from the beautiful girl approaching him, oh how he had to fight the urge to not run up to her, grab her in his arms and kiss her. but he couldn’t do that.

”hello? is your last braincell giving up too?” y/n woke lando up from his daydreaming receiving a smile back. as a response he playfully splashed water on her which eventually ended up in them both being totally soaked and heading to the car for some warmth.

moments later back at the car the pair of friends were talking in the trunk of the car that had been made to a cosy little space with blankets, pillows and mattresses. both of them were lying on their backs watching the sun set in front of them whilst the waves crashed against the beach. they talked about their future and what they wanted to achieve. the formula 3 driver’s dream future wasn’t hard to guess, formula 1 was of course the ultimate dream but although he was so talented he wasn’t optimistic in getting to that top tier. this however y/n just waved away reassuring lando that if somebody were to get there it was him and tried to fill him with the confidence boosting thoughts he needed to brush away his irrational thoughts.

”but what about you y/n/n? since the day i met you i’ve always been talking about formula one but you’ve never expressed any of your dreams?” he said tilting his head looking at y/n.

”oh, well i don’t know if i have any specific dreams like you.. it sounds so cliché but i truly just wanna experience so much in my life so that maybe one day i wouldn’t need a storybook to tell my children bedtime stories you know? so i could just tell them about all the adventures i’ve been on instead” y/n responded.

”aaw that’s sweet of you. i’m sure that will happen for you and your kids are gonna be thrilled about hearing all about it. i hope i’ll be a part of at least one of your bedtime stories” lando smiled.

y/n smiled back ”i’m sure you’re going to be, but we both know that i also have too much need of academic validation so i’m gonna have to do something about that first, get a degree in something at least” y/n laughed while thinking about also making her family proud as she was often seen as the ’smart’ one in the family. lando chuckled a bit responding that she was the smartest girl he knew before he opened up his arms for her to come and lay on his chest. y/n snuggled in putting her head on his chest and resting her arm on his stomach. she thanked lando for the compliment although ’the smartest girl he knew’ -bar wasn’t very high to be honest. soon their both giggles died out in to a comfortable silence while the pair were holding each other closely. lando thinking about how he wanted to stay this close to y/n forever and y/n thinking about how lando’s arms were the safest she had ever felt. y/n lied so closely she could hear lando’s heartbeat in the silence. both of them were falling for each other, none of them knowing about the other persons feelings.

”lando?” y/n whispered.

”hm?” lando whispered back.

”can you promise that we will always stay like this? … like friends?” she added as her initial thought about expressing her feelings felt too overwhelming at the moment.

”i promise y/n, always” lando whispered back with a small voice crack revealing tears that were held back. oh how he wanted to tell her the truth.

y/n could feel her heart rip. it killed her slowly thinking about how this embrace and these safe arms didn’t belong to her. and if she never get the courage to tell lando they would never do.

Dominik Szoboszlai x Black Reader - First Sight Part 7/8

Sharing You

This story is about the night reader met her boyfriend Dominik and the series of crazy events that led up to the beginning of their love story.

Enjoy!

You weren't the biggest fan of football, but you loved watching Dominik play. However, after a couple of months of dating you had to come to terms with the fact that you weren't the only girl with eyes on him.

"Dominik, Csodálatos voltál!" (Dominik, you were amazing!)

Girls would come up to him in the street, asking for pictures. Pictures with their arms around your man, kissing his cheeks.

"Olyan régóta néztem, ahogy focizik. Te vagy a kedvenc játékosom." (I've watched you play fotboll for so long. You are my favorite player.)

Dominik would never say no to signing autographs for his fans. It was a blessing and a curse.

"Köszönöm édesem. Ez sokat jelent nekem. (Thank you sweetheart. That means alot to me.)

It was during your first time in Hungary, Dominik's home country, that you realized that the fans here had no mercy idolizing your boyfriend. Especially the girls who basically pushed you aside to get to him, not even considering or respecting the fact that he had a girlfriend.

"You okay, you seem so quiet?"

It was past dinner time. Dominik's parents had invited you to their home, excited to finally meet you. Of course, there was the slight shock seeing as you were black and not white, something you had expected upon arrival. Dominik however, was eager to show you off, telling his parents how hard you had worked to study and become a nurse. His mother was a retired nurse herself so the two of you got along well despite the slight language barrier. Although dinner was great, Dominik could tell that your mood wasn't all that cheerful when it was time to go to bed.

"That girl...." You said.

Dominik let out a sigh, already suspecting what events of the day you were reffering to. "What girl? There was alot of them." He said.

"You know who I'm talking about." You were sitting on the edge of the bed, with Dominik already laying down, tucked in and ready to turn off the lights.

"That girl you let kiss you on the mouth."

"Y/N, she didn't kiss me on the mouth."

"Yes she did Dominik, I was there remember? I saw it with my own eyes."

"Okay, she slipped me a kiss. So what? You know how some fans can get." He said, trying to justify a behavior that clearly hurt your feelings.

"You could have said no." You muttered. "Or pushed her off of you."

"Y/N." He sat up in bed, running a hand down his tired face. "You know I couldn't have done that. Those girls are some of my biggest fans."

"I am your biggest fan Dominik. Me, your girlfriend." You turned to him with tears in your eyes.

"Y/N?"

He wasn't much for arguing. You wouldn't count this as your first fight, since most dilemmas evolving you and Dominik would always end in tears for you, whilst Dominik stayed true to being the calm and rational one in the relationship.

"Come here." He said, pulling you to lay down with him in bed. You did so willingly, your head resting upon his naked torso.

"What's this really about?" He asked, stroking your hair.

"I dunno." You muttered. "I guess I'm just tired of sharing you with the world."

This had been your biggest fear stepping into this relationship and it had finally come true. The fact that being with Dominik required alot of demands, whilst Dominik being with you required zero demands. You didn't know how to feel about that. Dominik had warned you about it a long time ago, saying it wouldn't be easy, but that it would be worth it. The question you had been asking yourself lately was just that: Was it forth it anymore?

"Are you tired of being with me?" He asked. Just the fragile tone of his voice broke your heart. "No. Never." You shook your head, sitting up in bed.

Dominik looked to you with big eyes, his hand stretching towards your face, thumb rubbing your cheek. "I love you. Have I ever told you that?"

You nodded.

"Yes?"

"Yes." You chuckled. "Evetytime I doubt that you do."

"It's become often lately, hasn't?" His eyes faltered towards the pattern of the sheets in his boyhood bedroom.

"It has and I'm sorry. You don't deserve to...."

"No, Y/N." He raised his head, hand cupping your chin. His plump lips pouted towards your own. "You don't deserve to feel in doubt when it comes to my love for you. As of now I shall remind you each and everyday that meeting you was love at first sight. I fell in love with you the second you introduced yourself in Sami's apartment that night. The second you said your name I desperately tried embedding it in my brain. However, your face and your beauty was already embedded in my heart."

You batted your eyes at him, baffled by his stoic words. Then you snorted. "Are you done?"

He grinned. "Yes, I'm done playing Shakespeare. Can we have sex now?"

"Please." You giggled.

Dominik rolled you over to lay on your back, adjusting your thighs to wrap around his waist.

"Your parents?" You whispered.

"Just don't scream when I make you come."

"Wow, what a gentleman."

"What?" He laughed. "You've got a better idea?"

"Yes, because I remember you being the loud one."

"Is that so?"

"Yes. Now shut up and let me sit on your face."

Hard to do Crossover

Time to time, watching the lots of crossovers fans do about Varian with anything, I thought about one of the fandom I liked and spend lots of years in it

Does any of you knew about the Hetalia fandom ?

Humanized countries anime, before the creation of Countryballs and Country humans but after the old newspaper cartoons about each one nation spirit like "Uncle Sam" for the USA and "John Bull"for the UK?

(My mind playing easy and silly after a whole day playing difficult xD)

Varian and Hugo cosplaying France and England because I can't decide which one fits better 🫠😎🤓

Super silly draw ~ hahahhahahahah

I tried to find who in the Hetalia cast would be fitting for a role swap with the Vat7k characters, but they are so different from each other , even the similar things between them have to be pushed xD

Long time ago, my favorite fanfics and fancomics were "Historical accurrate" focused, but most the content was about romance , so I endup becoming a big fan of:

FrUK : France x United Kingdom

USUK : United States x United Kingdom

Usually along with "FACE family" Dynamic, France and England as parents , Canada and America as adoptive sons

Then , I got a more deep liking for England , so I would get any England x (any other country) material

As well for USA x (any other country)

Varian: From a germanic country, so we have some to pick between the very Germany, or Prussia, Austria, Switzerland, Lietchestein, Bravaria or Kugel Mugel, but most of them have a serious stoic attitude

Except Prussia, who likes to play funny, is clean and disciplinated , writing a lot for his journal so everyone can know about his amazing adventures and goals, high self esteem, able to play teacher/mother/father/older brother role to any who wants to take lessons from him or who needs him, during the manga pages (and anime chapters) about Industrial revolution, he and his lil bro showed great engineering skills and enthusiasm.

Hey, when we think about Rapunzel, we were taught about her Germanic origins, then on the Tangled making, there was a mention about how the team wanted Germany as main influence and a few of Spain influence , and maybe not lots of you saw it, but there was a fanart about Prussia and Hungary cosplaying Eugene and Rapunzel that got re-posted on most old Facebook accounts about Hetalia

So feels like Prussia role was already taken at the Tangled cast, as well, Hungary on her cannon scenes, used a frying pan as weapon too.

Next pick for a fitting role for Varian, it may be , America? I don't know xD , joyful, friendly, strong, innovative, but doesn't knows how to measure his skills or social contact so he endups pushing everyone boundaries or ignoring safety codes, loves heroic tales and wants to be the hero of the situation at sigh, too bad he makes exaggerated bad takes due to his inexperience.

England, either for Hugo or Varian

A tsundere who suffered social exclusion during his early existence, who fought all the way to stop being poor, forgotten and put aside to reach riches, glory and power, not losing contact with his magical paranormal friends, yet, having difficult times to accept friendship or love from others, facing betrayings as well, a little bit of low self esteem, trying to compensate with other things (as with aggression and search for more power), for innovation, he tried engineering but his ideas were too eccentric so he would end up laughed at for his impractical machines, yet, searching ways to improve.

I need to make this shorter so I'll skip talking about France

As well about China or any other asian country for Yong

Sadly for Nuru , there are very few African or Oceanic based characters, most of them on a sole official videogame of the series with not enough screen time on the show, yet, nice to search around the fanbase

Any way, find something for an "accurrate " role swap is difficult, maybe cosplaying would be the only thing I would fantasy about xDdDDDDdD

The only "legit" version for a Crossover of Hetalia and Tangled would be creating brand new OCs of each one of the locations in the map of this world, specially about the 7 kingdoms

Bayangor looks kin to any country from Southeast Asia , so I would pick Indonesia (the series got a femenine character sketch, but then, changed it for a male one, either way, just for the manga and not the anime)

Galcrest and Nesdernia would certainly be about native american communities, sadly, most of them are drawn as OCs for the fandom, no actual cannon characters

Pittsford and Corona looks germanic enough, hehe, we could pick similarities with other European countries

The Dark Kingdom gave hints about Scotland , so it's easier

Ingvarr, according to some post, was supposed to be Persian/ Arabic influence, as well for Koto, African influence, but is vague, and both of them, reversing the role of colonization, looking like ... O dear, I have to go.

The World of Spy x Family: Newston Castle

We all know that Spy x Family is set in pseudo Cold War Germany. Tatsuya Endo makes that very clear—the capital city of Ostania is Berlint, just one letter off from the actual capital of Germany. And the names of the divided countries also pay homage to that: Westalis and Ostania come from the German words for “west” and “east”, respectively.

But it doesn’t stop there. Take the castle from Episode 5 (Chapter 6 of the Manga), for example. Endo could have left it unnamed, or just made up a name, but he decided to call it Newston Castle. That name is very decidedly reminiscent of Neuschwanstein Castle, and is in fact almost a direct translation.

Furthermore, the location of the castle is listed as a little ways outside Münk. Now, Münk is very similar to München, or what non-German speakers would know as Munich. Münk would also fit with the in-universe trend of altering place names just a little bit, like Hugaria being the in-universe equivalent of Hungary. Neuschwanstein Castle is similarly located a little ways southwest of Munich. Starting to sound familiar? Lets look at the pictures.

Clearly, the animation team took a few creative liberties (like moving the lake right up to the castle), but the influence is pretty damn clear. It’s the little details like this that make me appreciate the series even more.

The only snag in this theory is that during the cold war, Munich and Neuschwanstein Castle were in West Germany, which leaves us with two possibilities: 1) that in Spy x Famliy, the two nations are divided much more equally than in actual history, and 2) that they all went to Westalis for the castle sequence, and risked being caught at the border just to celebrate Anya’s acceptance into Eden.

Personally, I think the first theory is more likely, given that Endo has already taken a number of creative liberties, and that we’ve not head anything about Berlint being divided into East and West, like what happened to real-world Berlin during the Cold War. And Anya gives the Forger Family address as 128 Park Avenue, West Berlint. Unless, she means the western part of East Berlint, but I think that’s not as likely. However, we don’t yet have a full map of both countries, so both theories are still viable.

Let’s compare the map we do have with an actual map of East and West Germany.

So far, the maps look pretty similar, but all we have is the northernmost bit of the Spy x Family map. Who knows what the rest of it looks like? The border could continue straight down the middle, in which case Münk and Newston Castle would be firmly in Ostanian territory. Do you see Munich down in the far-right corner of the real-world map? No wonder the Forgers needed a plane to get there from Belin(t)!

CH survival guide: Shipping

Hello fellow countryhumans fan!

Whether you’re a brand-new fan or a hardened veteran, you’ve most likely come across a “ship.”

(You probably already know this, but in case you don’t, here are quick definitions:

• a “ship” is a shorter way of saying “relationship”

• “shipping” refers to the practice of creating these relationships

• “shippers” is used to refer to people that indulge in shipping)

Now, with that out of the way, you might be wondering; what the hell does this have to do with anything? That’s what I’m here to discuss.

Countryhumans is a wacky fandom, this is no secret. The wackiness comes from the lack of “true canon”. CH is not based off any TV show, movie series, book, or anything of the matter. The only “canon” is history, and even then, history can change depending who you ask. Therefore, almost everything you see coming out of this fandom is essentially HEADCANONS, because there’s no such thing as canon in this hellhole.

However, the lack of canon doesn’t mean you can do whatever the hell you want, no. These are still countries, personified as they may be. So, here are a few rules/guidelines that I would recommend you to follow.

No.1: KEEP SOME HISTORICAL ACCURACY

• It doesn’t make sense to ship two countries that have no connections whatsoever.

• This also includes tensions, rivalries, and conflicts, which I will go more in-depth on for number 2.

No.2: BE MINDFUL OF SITUATIONS

• This refers to tensions and conflicts of their time. With these situations, countries should NOT be shipped.

Some modern examples of ships that should not sail:

• Israel and Palestine

• Russia and America

• Romania and Hungary

Some historical examples of ships that should not sail:

• Soviet Union and America

• United Kingdom and Soviet Union

• Soviet Union and Third Reich*

(NOTE: It is possible at the start of wwii, BUT before you start celebrating, I need you to read number 3!)

No.3: DYNAMICS!!!!!!!!!

• This is one I don’t see talked about very often, so it’s especially important that you listen, because the dynamics of a ship can absolutely affect how good or bad it is.

• This means keeping things realistic to the characters and their situation, which ties in with no.1 AND no.2. Think to yourself: “Would these two ACTUALLY be an ‘uwu soft boy x big strong man’ type of relationship?” Because 99.998% of the time, the answer is “ABSOLUTELY NOT, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU OH MY G-”

SO, HOW DO I APPLY THIS?

Well, here are some questions you can ask yourself that apply to these guidelines.

• “Would they know each other?”

• “Do they have a friendly/non-hostile relationship in this time period?”

• “Is their dynamic realistic?”

If you can say yes to all of these questions, then you’re probably good to go!

BUT…

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER:

• Some people will not ship the same things you do; and that’s completely OK! Some people don’t like shipping AT ALL; and that’s also completely OK! Certain ships, or shipping as a whole, might not be for them.

• Remember to BE RESPECTFUL; don’t attack anyone if they have different opinions or preferences.

• Most of this stuff won’t affect you much IRL! Digital footprint might be real, but employers and colleges won’t really care if you post cringey art or fanfics. A LOT of other people have posted similar things, if not worse. So, unless you posted something REALLY depraved (I’m talking borderline/full on criminal shit), you’ll probably be just fine if you use another email or phone number for your school/work.

The Netherlands has granted approval for Bulgaria's inclusion in the Schengen area, as per a report by "Reuters." Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov, speaking after the European Council meeting in Brussels, anticipated positive news, highlighting the crucial decision made by the Dutch government.

"Happy to announce that today the government informed the Parliament of its support for Schengen accession of Bulgaria. NL already expressed its support for full application of Schengen acquis to România in December 2022. My congrats to both countries for the good work done!"

This was said by Willemijn van Haaften, the ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Romania in a post on the "X" platform

Nikolai Denkov emphasized the extensive efforts undertaken in recent months, citing the passage of laws in Bulgaria's National Assembly and the establishment of a specialized monitoring mechanism linked to the rule of law. He attributed the positive outcome to November's successful mission in Sofia involving the Netherlands and Austria.

"To reach this point, there's been considerable progress—a series of laws passed in our National Assembly, the establishment of a special monitoring mechanism related to the rule of law, and a fruitful mission in November attended by delegates from the Netherlands and Austria. These indicators paved the way for what we hope will be a favorable decision from the Netherlands," Denkov stated optimistically.

The Dutch Parliament now needs to review and finalize the decision to lift their veto.

Political power dynamics shifted following the Dutch elections, wherein Geert Wilders' Eurosceptic party showcased unexpected strength. However, this outcome has complicated the formation of a governing coalition, possibly extending negotiations for months. Throughout this period, Prime Minister Mark Rutte's government has persisted in its functions, expected to remain in power even if forming a successor government becomes untenable, potentially leading to extraordinary elections.

During discussions at the European Council sidelines, the Bulgarian Prime Minister and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis engaged with Chancellor Karl Nehammer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen concerning Schengen. Mark Rutte's actions potentially intensify pressure on Nehammer to reconsider his stance, particularly as Austria stands as the sole dissenting voice with less explicit demands compared to the Netherlands, an aspect that impacts Bulgaria and Romania.

Vienna proposed a phased approach for the two countries to enter the passport-free travel zone, suggesting an initial inclusion from airports and ports followed by land borders, albeit without a clearly defined timeline for the latter stage. Denkov also addressed ongoing negotiations with Austria, indicating that potential solutions are being exchanged in written form. "We are currently in the phase of exchanging possible texts on what a resolution might entail. Until a consensus is reached, these discussions remain preliminary," he clarified.

Bulgaria's hopes for Schengen entry are now closer than ever, pending the Dutch Parliament's decision and ongoing negotiations with Austria.

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has submitted a protocol for Sweden’s admission into NATO to Turkey’s parliament for ratification, his office said Monday, bringing the Nordic country a step closer to membership in the military alliance.Erdogan had been delaying ratification of Sweden’s membership, accusing Stockholm of being too soft on Kurdish militants and other groups his country considers to be security threats. Turkey also was angered by a series of Quran-burning protests in Sweden.All 31 NATO allies must endorse Sweden’s membership. Turkey and Hungary are the only two allies that have yet to ratify it.A brief statement from the presidential communications directorate said Erdogan had signed the protocol on Sweden's NATO accession, which was then submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. ETIAS: Background, Aims & Eligible Countries.

Background:

ETIAS is among the measures undertaken as part of the Security Union. It will also help to achieve the objectives of the "European Agenda on Security" and the "European Agenda on Migration" in particular regarding border management and preventing cross-border crime and terrorism.

The European Commission first introduced the idea of a ETIAS in April 2016 in the convention "Stronger and Smarter Information Systems for Borders and Security" and adopted the proposal on 16 November 2016. After negotiations with the European Parliament and the Council the ETIAS Regulation (EU) 2018/1240 was adopted on 12 September 2018 and entered into force on 9 October 2018.

Aims of ETIAS:

The aim of ETIAS Europe is to provide a more secure journey to EU member countries as well as to strengthen the borders of the Schengen Area by pre-checking the data of travellers before they enter the zone.

The ETIAS visa waiver will allow eligible visitors to enter the Schengen Area for short-term stays of up to 90 days for tourism, transit or business. Travellers can move freely between the Schengen countries as there are no internal hard borders within the zone.

ETIAS EU is considered to be a visa waiver program, which means ETIAS is not a visa. Also, this special travel authorisation does not require applicants to physically go to an embassy or consulate. The whole process will be completed online.

Who needs an ETIAS visa waiver?

There are currently more than 50 nationalities who will need to apply for an ETIAS visa waiver though more countries may be added to the list in the future. It is key to understand that after ETIAS is implemented in November 2023, the current visa-free countries will continue to have this status, the only difference being the need to obtain a valid ETIAS along with their passports.

Citizens from non-eligible countries will need to apply for a Schengen Europe visa to enter the region. There are also different types of visas available for people who want to study or work in Europe as ETIAS is not a visa and is not designed for these purposes.

How does the ETIAS system work?

Applicants will need to answer a series of questions by entering basic information such as their name, address, date of birth, and passport details. There will also be some questions regarding health and security.

The information provided by applicants will be screened using relevant security databases. The majority of applications will be processed within minutes though some may take longer.

Once approved, the ETIAS visa waiver will be sent to the applicant electronically. Travellers will be able to present this special travel document when they arrive in the Schengen Area to gain entry.

Why a European travel authorisation?

ETIAS will protect visitors to the Schengen Area as well as European citizens and residents. The online ETIAS application process has been designed to be hassle-free and straightforward, and there will be no need to go to an embassy or consulate.

Józef Klemens Piłsudski; (5 December 1867 – 12 May 1935) was a Polish statesman who served as the Chief of State (1918–1922) and First Marshal of Poland (from 1920). He was considered the de facto leader (1926–35) of the Second Polish Republic as the Minister of Military Affairs. After World War I, he held increasing dominance in Polish politics and was an active player in international diplomacy. He is viewed as a father of the Second Polish Republic re-established in 1918, 123 years after the final Partition of Poland in 1795.

Seeing himself as a descendant of the culture and traditions of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, Piłsudski believed in a multi-ethnic Poland—"a home of nations" including indigenous ethnic and religious minorities. Early in his political career, Piłsudski became a leader of the Polish Socialist Party. Believing Poland's independence would be won militarily, he formed the Polish Legions. In 1914, he predicted a new major war would defeat the Russian Empire and the Central Powers. After World War I began in 1914, Piłsudski's Legions fought alongside Austria-Hungary against Russia. In 1917, with Russia faring poorly in the war, he withdrew his support for the Central Powers, and was imprisoned in Magdeburg by the Germans.

Piłsudski was Poland's Chief of State from November 1918, when Poland regained its independence, until 1922. From 1919–21 he commanded Polish forces in six wars that re-defined the country's borders. On the verge of defeat in the Polish–Soviet War in August 1920, his forces repelled the invading Soviet Russians at the Battle of Warsaw. In 1923, with a government dominated by his opponents, in particular the National Democrats, Piłsudski retired from active politics. Three years later he returned to power in the May Coup and became the strongman of the Sanacja regime. He focused on military and foreign affairs until his death in 1935, developing a cult of personality that has survived into the 21st century.
