Can "normal" alternates feed on positive emotions or is that just another Alt!Cesar quirk?
They can taste positive emotions but don't feed on them - they're geared towards negative emotions and naturally hunger for them. They outright refuse to eat positive ones and are usually repulsed by the taste. It's very much an alt!Cesar quirk.

what happened to dave in this au if you can share ...
okok this is actually the entire revolving point of the au so it IS a big spoiler BUT. I can tease at it a bit
pretty much everything is There, I think: we've got the titular "confession" tape Dave keeps around, that "forbidden fruit" Evelin's so curious about, that has the exact same audio as "voices outside my room", except "confession" has that audio clearer. not like it was restored, but like it was rerecorded with access to better technology. we've got alt!Cesar's confession presumably not long after what happened with the Heathcliff suicide (I forgot to give it a date, probably a few weeks later)- he seeks some semblance of comfort in it but only ends up cursing out... whoever he's talking to (Father O'Brien, of course), deciding to completely reject the alternates' whole... shindig.
and... honestly. what do you think the context for the haunted house was? why would it be so popular if not for the scare factor? what about the mention of Evelin feeling more and more drained even when MandelaTECH's been having less and less customers lately? what do alternates feed on? think about it.

It's turned over. Examined, but not closely- Thatcher is more confused than anything.
"Just don't play it until you hear that I'm dead, okay?"
And then he sees what it's called.
"Wh- is this your-? Dave! Y-you can't just- I-I- oh my God. You're seriously-"
Confusion gives way to disbelief gives way to shock. Dave just gives a weak kind of shrug in response.
"I'm sorry. I can't keep doing this."

I am going to be posting about TMC so much I am so sorry for anyone that followed me for a fandom other than that BUT ANYWAY-
Ik it’s been out for a while already but slight TOH S3E3 Spoiler Warning just in case
So imagine the scene where The Collector has Luz, Eda, and King all in their worst nightmares. Think about Luz’s specifically. Now imagine that but with Adam instead. Living through the nightmare of anyone he was close with hating him and blaming him for all their problems. Sarah, Jonah, Evelin, maybe even his parents.
Sure the idea of Adam as an alternate just going absolutely fucking insane (@moonflwer-gutz gave me the thought) is great and all but what if he wasn’t insane but, as we seen, is being driven not necessarily insane but down a dark hole.
What if not even other alternates treat him right? He’s too alternate to be human, but lived as a human for so long that he’s not truly alternate (similar to HTB Cesar if ya think about it)
He has no one human left to comfort him or talk to him, especially with what we’ve seen in catalyst and it’s not like he knows how to be an alternate properly either
The thoughts keep going but that’s as much as I am able to form into understandable sentences rn

HTB AU - Gabriel
So, I thought I'd give a run down of how Gabriel works in the Hail, True Body AU as, like the alternates, he has some set rules, plus I just want to give some general tidbits on him, too!
Gabriel (aka 'The Morningstar'):
He's still an angel - although he got cast out of Heaven for giving humans free will and knowledge (because he thought it unfair that God had made beings designed to be subservient to Him with no ability to know right from wrong), that didn't make him lose his 'angel status'. He still has an angelic form and it's very 'Biblically accurate' in its design - though, much like an alternate's true form, it's incomprehensible and terrifying for a human to look at. Whereas a person looking at an alternates true form will see an amalgam of all their worst fears, a person looking at Gabriel's true form will see an amalgam of every regret, wrongdoing, and sin they've ever committed.
So, for example, Mark would see a horrendous amalgam of his faceless mom, Lola Torres, Sarah, and Cesar (and alt!Cesar), all jumbled up and screaming for his condemnation.
Also, humans shouldn't look at this form for too long, not just because of the horrors, but also because they will become blind if they look for too long. Thing is, once you look it's even harder to look away and that usually ends up with your eyes melting out of your head and death. Victims of this usually die screaming for repentance and forgiveness that never comes.
He didn't start out by hating humans - rather the opposite - but rejection from God afterwards made him decide to take it out on human-kind. Basically a kid destroying his toys in the hopes his dad will pay attention to him. He fully intends on destroying all of humankind and replacing them with "something better". It's taken him so long to get to this point because his first attempt at getting God to notice was to deceive humans by infecting their religions with worship to him instead. He did this by taking the form of another angel: Gabriel. He had to do this as humans had already taken note that The Morningstar was 'bad' and had been cast out of heaven.
Every named angel that appears in the Bible - and that isn't Gabriel - were actually select alternates that Gabriel chose to wake up to help him establish and corrupt religion.
The real Gabriel actually tried to correct the course of religion with a message for the Virgin Mary, but The Morningstar intercepted it and replaced the real Jesus with a false one (an alternate). No one knows what became of the real Gabriel after that - not even the select few alternates The Morningstar sometimes communicates with.
Though 2 elements of the real Gabriel are currently alive in Mandela County by the time the AU starts - they aren't incarnations of him, but are instead 'touched' by real Gabriel - though The Morningstar is trying to twist them into doing his bidding with varying degrees of success.
Fun fact: Like alternates, angels have no gender or sex. False Gabriel simply presents as a guy and uses he/him pronouns because, after eons, he finds he quite likes taking the form of a man when he has to look human :D

If Mark had been holding anything a few moments ago, it would've dropped to the floor by now. His hands shook at his sides, and the trembling spread up his arms to his chest and his legs and for a few moments he was certain he was going to fall over.
He didn't, though he did stumble back a step. Somehow he even found it in himself to remember to breathe in a wheezy, gasping inhale that made his lungs ache and his throat go dry. The man's hands flew almost subconsciously to his waistband, and he watched as a pair of eyes followed them with a spark of- no. Stop it. Don't do that.
¬ Don't shoot me, Mark. ¬
Mark's fingers twitched, an itchy, clawing feeling tugging on the threads in the back of his mind like a kitten kneading a wool blanket. His hand froze, but didn't fall back into place at his side.
Standing across from him, within arm's reach, as far away as anything had ever been, was-
It was-
God, it was-
"F-fuck," Mark stammered, and took another step back.
The thing that looked like Cesar didn't move in kind. Besides the flicker of its eyes, it didn't even seem like it was breathing. As much as Mark was trying to avoid looking at its eyes, the two kept locking gazes.
He- it. It wasn't Cesar. It wasn't Cesar. It's not him. It's not him. Stop thinking it is. It's not what you think-
It looked exactly the same as it had last time Mark had seen it, and the last time Mark had seen it was three years ago. Phantom pain echoed across his scars, and the man winced at the memory of a halo of glass. But everything was the same- the Cesar standing before him was as frozen in time as the one in the photograph weighing heavy in his left breast pocket.
For the first time since its appearance, the alternate moved. It reached up and, in a gesture that seemed all-too-painfully human, drew its hand back in again hesitatingly. Its brow furrowed in what could almost be mistaken for worry.
"Mark, you- you're crying."
As they say, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
Mark felt his legs buckle anyways. Call him a fool.
The man let out a sob and bit down on his left forefinger- hard. It didn't do much to stifle the sound, and something tasted like crimson now, but it gave him something to focus on besides-
"Mark! Are you okay?"
I think I'm going to throw up, was going to be his response, but unfortunately all Mark could muster in response was another half-choked sob, and he jerked away from the hand that reached out for him even when every part of him wanted nothing more than to cry into his friend's arms until his sleeves were soaked and for them to go home and pretend like nothing bad had ever happened in their lives, even if only for a few hours.
After a second, a word escaped his throat: "No." It evidently stung, because Cesar the alternate recoiled and a pang of something heavy struck through Mark's heart that he immediately grabbed and tossed away. This wasn't Cesar.
"You're a monster - a fucking thing. My best friend is dead and you fucking killed him!"
Sweat-slick hands gripping the handle of a gun. The click a millisecond before the bang.
“You’re not him. You’re not Cesar. You aren’t- I didn’t shoot- You’re not him.”
No matter how broken its expression looked. No matter how tired and terrified Mark was.
"I'm sorry. Mark, I'm so, so sorry."
¬ I'm sorry. It's complicated. ¬
Memories rang like church bells in his ears. Half-human shrieks. Half-human.
"It hurts, Mark. It hurts."
Mark couldn't fucking do this.
He pulled out his gun before he could think and for a second the world teetered. Overwhelming déjà-vu coursed through him as he gripped the weapon, sweaty palms and safety off and maybe it would be so, so easy to turn it around and forget all of this ever-
Mark dropped the gun. Clicked the safety back on and nudged it away. He could feel Cesar's eyes on him the whole time, noticed the way he inched away slightly and still hadn't come back yet.
"Fuck." Mark looked up, expression pulled tight and the shakiness of earlier suddenly gone in favor of an all-consuming exhaustion. Cesar still looked like he was eighteen. He still looked exactly as he had the day at the church. Mark dragged a hand down the side of his face. "Fucking Hell, Cesar."
The alternate's expression brightened, a glimmer of hope-but-not-daring-to-hope in his eyes. Mark stopped him with a slightly stiff wave and brought his hands in front of him to pick at his cuticles. The sidewalk was cold and slightly damp from the rain, and Mark pushed himself to his feet, brushing himself off and watching as Cesar did the same.
"I can't-" He sucked in a breath. The air reeked of petrichor. "I don't... know. How or why you're here." He motioned to the alternate and something zipped up his spine. The man shivered and adjusted his jacket, doing his best to ignore the dry, hollow coldness that momentarily jabbed his thoughts. "And I can't just- forgive what happened."
Three years since then. That's a fucking lifetime. It feels like yesterday.
Cesar thought for a beat, and Mark did his best not to do a double-take on how much it really did look like him.
¬ I was alone. That whole time. I missed you. ¬
And in words: "I understand."
Mark bit his lower lip, but not enough that he could taste blood. "We'll work on it, okay?" He clenched and unclenched his fists a few times. "We should go home. I'm exhausted." The man paused for any sign of a change, a sudden dark smile or something or anything one would usually expect from an alternate. He wasn't sure how to feel about the pang of hope in his chest when there was none, just an almost vaguely relieved look from the other.
Mark let out a yelp, suddenly finding himself wrapped in a pair of arms that ended in hands that held onto the fabric of his jacket like a lifeline. It was a hug.
Oh, it was a hug.
Mark held on in return, almost instinctively. Cesar felt oddly small now, but still familiar enough to imagine just for a second that things were normal. He wasn't sure if either of them would be able to let go.

I remember seeing a post about HTB-Alt!Cesar using its Alternate form to scare the shit out of people on Halloween, then Mark is like: 'Dude stop, what did I say about using your form form? It's gonna give people MAD' and this wouldn't escape my brain so I drew this small scene (just Mark though cause I'm not that skilled at drawing horrifying creatures from the Void)

I can't show it through art, but htb post-void alt!Cesar has this thing with his alternate voice now where it constantly sounds like endless wailing and screams. And, of course, he can't change it or stop it bc alternates don't have much control over their true voices because they're controlled by instinct.
I wonder what it says about alt!Cesar that his instincts are making him endlessly scream like that...
