dibs on swap mark being a dumbass and high on caffeine to fist fight a seraphim and somehow winning.
If anyone could fight a Seraphim with his bare fists and win, it'd be swap!Mark

put a Seraphim version of mark in the marks meeting and let's watch the world suffer together. genuinely wondering if any of the marks would be dumb enough to fist fight seraphim mark.
I mean, technically canon Mark is already fighting a Seraphim as he's thwarting Lucifer's plans... But idk if he'd fist fight an angel, maybe if he had his guns... 💀 Lmao

if all the aus (swap, royalty, etc) and canon htb casts meet eachother. wonder how mimic cesar will do with a bunch of his alternate selves.
I don't think it would help his identity crisis, that's for sure lmao

oh god, i can't imagine my bbg mark with a bunch of au marks, he'd pass out. though i could imagine swap mark obnoxiously talking about random ass information that the other marks never ask, all these marks would get along. maybe.
Yeah I think with how Mark really doesn't like himself, that being in a room with multiple versions of him would just upset him deeply :(

Hail, True Body (masterpost)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Artworks by @corvidaeconundrum
'Hail, True Body' is a religious horror series that focuses on what it means to be human in a world that God has abandoned. For Mark Owens, 1993 is shaping up to be the worst year of his young life - and that's saying a lot all things considered. When his best friend Cesar Hernández calls him one night in October, Mark ignores the broadcast warnings to help him out. But Cesar is acting... strange.
Though perhaps that's understandable. His mother did just die, after all.

The Good Samaritan - Hail, True Body: Part 5
It was just a deer.
Relief. So powerful it almost sent him keeling over, knees buckling, legs shaking - a flush of cold coursing through his veins. Finger slipping from the trigger, finally relaxing until-
Until it stepped from out of the woods and into the light.
Loose flesh wobbled on its stilt-like legs, joints distorted and bulbous, folding backwards with each stumbling, precarious step. Hooves were bent inwards, as though walking on its knuckles, and its antlers…
Twisting hands made of sinew and flesh and barbs of bone - each tine a writhing, flexing cluster of broken fingers, feeling at the air with jerky movements. Flesh and fur sloughed in some places, was pulled too tight over others, fit uncomfortably snug against bony protrusions, dangerously close to splitting wide open at any given second...
-
Amidst the loss and confusion of recent events, Mark Owens falls into a crisis of faith like never before. It certainly doesn't help that God is silent despite his cries, pushing him ever further onto a path of revenge. Cian Daniels is trying his best to keep this kid as safe as he can whilst meeting Mark halfway, before he can get himself killed.
A direct continuation of 'Mimicry'.

hey! i just remembered i have few concept arts of swap au. unfortunately, I am far away from my home so have a little bit of swap! mimic cesar.
swap mimic cesar, he was more prone to swap mark's influence unlike canon m. cesar so he got on humanity pretty early (I think around when chapter 4 takes place) during chapter 6 when he was pleading to mark, the latter, instead of running away from the mimic, watched him until he died. post-void he becomes more hesitant to co-operate with deer and tries to look for mark countless of time. but he couldn't get too close since the pain still linger. after the swap prophecy duo reconcile, he's quieter and more timid.
Oooh, this is very interesting! I love the idea of mimic!Cesar developing humanity more deeply in Part 4 and how that could change things for him. I really love swap AUs for that reason, it's just small changes but it's really cool to see how they end up affecting the whole story :D

Not sure if my ask got eaten by Adam, but I really think "Lonely Day" by System of a Down fits Mark's grief with losing Cesar and the progress he makes while healing. (Note: I might be slightly off since I haven't read The Good Samaritan before.)
Ough, yeah sorry I think that ask did get eaten 😕
But yeah! Absolutely, it very much captures the vibe Mark has whilst trying to deal/cope with Cesar's death and having shot and 'killed' something that looked and sounded exactly like his best friend 💔

I think it's so funny how the deer mimic, who I'm pretty sure I've heard has eaten animals instead of being patient enough to properly kill a victim, has spent at least 11 years on Cian if it really is still going after him. So persistent, and yet so impatient. I do like the idea of Cian feeling fear and immediately assuming it is his father instead of a wild animal, even though that would make more sense, because it's what he's used to.
Mimics require their targets to be completely terrified and broken down mentally in order to eat and replace them and without spoiling anything too much, that's why it's taken the deer so long. Cian was only ever on the brink of breaking that night when he first encountered the deer so it couldn't actually hurt him in the years that followed, especially as mimic incidents started cropping up around Edensfield and dealing with the aftermath of them became part of Cian's job. People need him so he doesn't allow himself to be scared like he really wants to be, he has to be supportive and to provide hope to others. As a result, he's built a sort of resistance to their psychological manipulation. He's not fully immune to it, but it takes hell of a lot more to break him down than it does an average person!
You're right though, the deer doesn't really go for finesse when breaking down targets, and has been known to just jump the gun when it comes to victims that are easier to scare like wild animals. It often goes for the easiest route, picking one of the bigger things that a person would find distressing, like how it did for Cian by impersonating his dad and insinuating that he'll turn out exactly like him, which isn't always enough to unravel them entirely. It does, however, pick up some tricks from the time it spends with mimic!Cesar in Part 6 to get better at breaking prey :)

(CEMENT DRINKING PART 2, ELECTRIC BOOGALOO!!!)
Cesar shuffled into the room, wearing a bleary expression and one of Mark’s shirts, a pair of Mark’s shorts, and one of Mark’s socks. The other was his own, and it had cat faces all over it.
“Ah. Sorry, did I wake you?” Mark chuckled softly as Darcy trotted in after the mimic, butting Mark’s leg with her head. He bent down to pet her, still grinning at Cesar.
“…mmmf…” Cesar mumbled, rubbing his eyes tiredly. He looked like he was resisting the urge to blink sideways, if Mark was being honest.
“Oh. Weeell… I think I have something that can make it up to ya!” Mark held out the mug. The mimic stared at it for a second, before his eyes got all wide, and he seemed to immediately get the energy of approximately twelve billion condensed stars.
“Oh! Oh, oh, oh!” He squealed, grabbing the mug and studying its contents.
“Yup. All for you, bu-“ Mark started, before being cut off by Cesar hugging him, then sprinting down the hallway to his room, cackling madly as he slammed the door behind him.
“Uh. Well, then,” Mark muttered, picking Darcy up as he listened to the happy static noises and excited giggling coming from Cesar’s room. Mark smirked at his dog mischievously. “Ready to go crush his hopes and dreams?” He asked. Darcy barked, so Mark proudly strode off to the door of Cesar’s room.
However, before he could even knock, the door flung open, and a very wide-eyed(and wide-pupil’ed) mimic threw open the door, holding the empty mug and shaking slightly.
“Mark. I require more of this cement,” he said commandingly. Mark grinned evilly.
“That isn’t cement, buddy.” Mark replied. Cesar’s expression immediately fell.
“It… it isn’t?” Cesar asked.
“Nope.” Mark leaned in close. “It’s black sesame milk,” he whispered. Cesar’s jaw dropped, his face filling with an almost comical look of despair.
“N-n-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” He yelled, staring at Mark with sadness.
“You can’t eat cement!” Mark yelled back, laughing his ass off.
“But… BUT-!” He stammered. Mark pressed a hand over Cesar’s mouth to quiet him.
“Shhh. Let’s go get you some strawberry ice cream, okay?” Mark murmured, snickering under his breath. Cesar nodded slightly, taking Mark’s unoccupied hand as they set off to clean a mug and to get that sweet pink salvation.
The moral of the story?
Don’t drink cement. Black sesame milk looks like concrete. Oh, and both substances make mimics go feral. But that’s an issue for Cian and Sam to deal with.
-Glow-In-The-Dark Anon
Oh, poor mimic!Cesar, he was so excited to eat concrete lmao 💀
