So we went to see Eli Roth's Masterpiece
Thanksgiving which was adapted from the
fake movie trailer Thanksgiving that he did
for the film Grindhouse and this marks the
3rd movie that actually became a real thing
based off a Fake trailer
(the other 2 movies being Machete and Hobo with a Shotgun)
I had to laugh when they said they were actually
going to make this an actual movie and hoped it
would be as awesome as Machete and well I can
say I wasn't disappointed I personally thought this
movie was excellent! I really enjoyed it
and would have to say it was one of the best
Horror/Slasher type movies I've seen in a while.
your basic story is this during a Black Friday
riot at a Wal-Mart like store which ended up
in people getting killed including ones
important to the the person who would become
the killer he returns a year later to terrorize
the town dressed as the town's pilgrim founder.
that is pretty much it.
Now the movie itself is kinda silly but at the
same time smartly written and directed
there is a awesome mystery about who is
the actual killer and it will keep you
guessing and on the edge of your seat
and not only that but the kills are
quite gruesome. They are rather over
the top but you'll be all "oh wow"
or "eww, lol" like for example
the whole Black Friday sequence is totally
insane! I mean it is overly exaggerated
and all that with people getting into
fight fights and getting stabbed or
trampled to death by rabid shoppers
Now even thought it is overly exaggerated
I do think there is alot of truth
in that whole sequence because you seen
Black Friday videos of similar stuff on YouTube
and heard news stories of people getting killed
like that on Black Friday and being someone
who is not American I believe that is what
it was/can be like on Black Friday in the States.
Also they even tried to recreate some of the scenes
from the original trailer and flesh it all out
which is great and you could recognize things
in the movie from the trailer.
But in the end yes the movie was Fantastic!
I feel it was well acted and well done all around
and if you like horror movies then I would highly
recommend it! you should absolutely give it a watch.
I would say it is one of the best Horror movies
I seen all year and I think this one will become
an instant classic.

This is the first 2023 Horror Film I watched as well as the first in the theater. We get ideas and concepts we've seen previously. They've also done it better. I still enjoyed my time here. There is good heart under the service and the performances bring it to life for me. What do you think of this one? My thoughts are up on @davidosu87’s blog or the link below: Review: https://horrorreview.webnode.page/news/m3gan/ @meetm3gan #m3gan #robot #scifi #thriller #killerdoll #killertoy #newzealand #2023horror #horror2023 #trekthroughthetwos #horror #horrormovie #horrormovies #horrorfilm #horrorfilms #horrorfan #horrorfans #horrorreview #horrorreviews #horrorreviewer #filmreview #filmreviews #filmreviewer #nothorror #horrorcommunity #horrorfamily #hashtag https://www.instagram.com/p/CnwvIFHMYWu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The last movie we went to see while we were away
on vacation was The Last Voyage of the Demeter.
Much like Talk to Me I think we only seen
like one trailer for this and pretty much knew
nothing about this movie other then it was a
vampire on a ship we didn't learn that this
was part of the story of Dracula until we read
the opening text on the movie.
Now as for the movie itself I thought it was great
I really liked it. One thing is the production
design on this was really good as was the acting
at least I thought so.
Now the story for this is pretty much this
The ship the Demeter is heading back to London
and before that they make a stop to pick up
supplies and some more crew and also get paid
a bonus to transport some "special cargo"
these large wooden crates as well
and they also add a Doctor to the ship
by the name of Clemens (played by Corey Hawkins)
and while on the ship during a bit of a
storm some of the crates get damaged and
release the hidden evil with in
and the crew begins to get picked off
as the remaining members and Clemens
must figure out what is going on
and try to stop it before it reaches
London.
It is somewhat of a horror movie being about
Dracula and were I didn't find the movie
overly scary it was very spooky they do a
really good job with atmospheric horror
and as well as situational horror you kinda
feel the dread and panic that the characters
feel as they are pretty much locked out in
the ocean with this creature that is killing
them off one by one and you don't know
who will be next.
The visuals for this movie were good as well
like the classic burning in sunlight was nicely
done but I think one of the main things was the
look of the creature/Dracula and he does look more
creature like in this he somewhat at the beginning
looks similar to the Nosferatu type of Dracula
but as the movie goes on he becomes more bat like
and when you see him fully he is really more
bat creature type of vampire then the more
human type but he is really cool in his design.
but yeah I thought the movie was great
I do think it probably would have been better
if they released this in October instead of
August. I think it would have fit more into
Halloween season then summer movie season.
but anyway I thought it was great and if
you want to watch something that is
a bit spooky and has a cool and interesting
take on Dracula then I would recommend it.

So yeah this past Tuesday we went to
see Insidious: The Red Door (Insidious 5)
and I thought it was pretty great
I would have to say I did enjoy it
Story wise it takes place after the
second one and once again follows
the Lambert family. There is a
9 year time jump in the story.
The kids are older now and
Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) and
Renai Lambert (Rose Byrne) are now
divorced due to their haunting experiences.
Dalton Lambert (Ty Simpkins) is off to college
and is dropped off by his Dad
the two seem to be having some cognitive
problems as a result of the events of
Insidious: Chapter 2 which as lead to
their strained relationship.
While at college Dalton inadvertently
reconnects with his abilities and once
again opens the "Red Door" the
metaphorical portal to "The Further"
which once again unleashes horrors
to plague him and his father ones more.
but will they be able to close the door
once and for all?
like I said I thought this one was great
I did enjoy it as I did with all the
Insidious movie and I'm surprised that
we are now at Insidious 5.
pretty much all main characters show
up or have cameos in the movie.
and we are of course introduced
to some new characters as well
one if which is Chris Winslow
(played by Sinclair Daniel)
who befriends Dalton at college
and helps him through the events
of the movie. I really liked
her character and could relate
to her in a way. I liked her personality
and thought I could probably be
friends with her.
so I did enjoy her and was probably
my favorite character in this movie
Everyone else did an excellent job
in this movie too.
the movie is not overly scary
but does have that disturbing creepiness
about it that the others in the series
does too and there is plenty of shocks
and jumps in the movie it did get me
a couple of times for sure and there
is a lil bit of grossness at some
parts like the puking scene.
I don't feel like it is straight
up horror there is a bit of a mystery
in there as well being you get to learn
more about the family's history
especially Josh Lambert's (Patrick Wilson)
side of the family which was cool.
but of course the movie does have plenty of
unnerving and creepy visuals which make
it lots of fun.
Now if this is truly the last one
then I think it wrapped things up
pretty good and feel that there doesn't
need to be a Insidious 6
so I was happy with how it did all that
and kinda don't feel there is any loose
ends that need to be tied or anything.
So the best thing I can say is if you
like the series then you might like
this one as well so I would say
give it a try.
