Hi
I don't know if you want to talk about your previous work on this blog and you don't need to respond to this message but I didn't dare tell you this before
I want you to know that I consider you an extraordinary writer, from time to time I reread WUSYANAME and I can't explain to you how emotionally attached I am to it. Last night it was 4AM and I had to be at work at 8 and I couldn't stop reading it like the first time I found it. I'm not asking you to continue the series or anything like that, I just wanted to get it off my chest.
I have cried, laughed, and my heart has felt like it was going to burst out of my chest countless times reading at your work. I am very happy to discover that you opened this other space and are willing to continue writing.
I truly believe that you are incredible and capable of achieving great things if you decide at some point to take it to the next level. I would love to see your work become bestsellers and support them like now.
Thank you for sharing your passion and your talent and making me feel so many things.
❤️❤️❤️
Hey!! Gonna gush under the cut <3
Thank you so much for this it's definitely gotta be one of the nicest asks I've ever had. I say all of the time, I literally can't believe it when people reach out and compliment my writing because I genuinely don't think I'm all that. I think I'm average at best! But getting asks like this about how much my work is loved and appreciated and legitimately enjoyed is just the nicest feeling in the world so thank you. I'm really honoured and thankful that you'd reach out to tell me. I know it can be daunting to send asks to people whether you're on anon or not so from the bottom of my heart, thank you. You've really made my day a million times better than it would have been without this.
I'm super self deprecating and harsh on myself and everything I create as I'm sure a lot of people can tell! But I love WUSYANAME and I know it means a lot to other people as much as it does me. It was such a spur of the moment piece that I wrote and I had no idea it would become so loved and talked about on my blog and the community we created over on fuwushiguro. I get asks about it even now asking if I will continue it and I was saying no for the longest time. I didn't think it was something I wanted to associate with on my new blog but the more I've been thinking about how much I love it and how much people enjoy it, I'm starting to reconsider.
It will definitely take a lot of work to transfer all of the chapters but the thought of re reading it when I haven't really read it at all since the chapter publication dates, it's kind of an exciting thought!
Anyway sorry for rambling but thank you so much for this beautiful and kind ask. I hope you have the loveliest day and take care of yourself. Thank you for following me over here and continuing to support me. I appreciate it and you so very very much 💕

Review - “The Chrysalids” by John Wyndham
10th February 2023
Hello, friends! I've just finished reading “The Chrysalids” by John Wyndham, which I started on 22nd January this year. I read the last few pages before I went to sleep on 8th February, and I'm just getting around to writing my review now, on the 10th.
This is the third book I’ve read in 2023, but I'm writing this review before I write the review for the second, because I have an awful lot to say about that one! This review will be fairly short, I hope, but I promise it's a good one!
Pages: 202
Genre: Post-Apocalyptic Dystopian.
Several centuries after nuclear war has devastated the earth, David Strorm and his parents live on the island of Labrador. Society is slowly rebuilding itself according to the laws of the Christian Bible: “And God created man in His own image. And God decreed that man should have one body, one head, two arms and two legs: that each arm should be joined in two places and end in one hand: that each hand should have four fingers and one thumb: that each finger should bear a flat fingernail." When the authorities discover that David's friend Sophie has six-toed feet, she and her family are labelled “Blasphemies” and banished to contaminated land to fend for themselves. As he grows up, David sees deformed crops and livestock destroyed, and families torn apart by the births of babies with visible differences. The message is clear: conform or perish. So, when David and his cousins realise they are different in their own way, they must hatch a plan to escape.
The moral of this story can be summed up quite easily in a single quote from the book itself: “change is evolution, and we are part of it.” Sometimes difference is the first sign of wider change for the better; far from shunning different ideas, we should embrace them as chances to improve what we currently have. Normality and tradition should not be upheld just because they are normal and traditional; what is outdated and restrictive should be reconsidered. There is a time for everything to come to an end, or move aside for the new. This book has a very strong anti-persecution message, but I don't know how well it upholds that message towards the end. Without spoiling anything, it feels like a different group is simply being persecuted instead.
This book really spoke to me as a Queer person. I think it's a universal experience within the queer community to realise slowly that you and all your friends are on the same wavelength, and to come to a gradual understanding that that is because you're all Queer. This is rather like what happens with David and his cousins. Slowly, they come to understand that they all differ from other people in the same way. A society that demonises difference without considering whether the difference deserves to be demonised (does it hurt anyone? is it harmful? or are people simply different?), is all too familiar for anyone who has grown up in the closet.
This book reminded me of “The Outrage” by Willi Hussey, which I read last year, and of “Q” by Christina Dalcher, which I read in 2021. All three books deal with the persecution of people who are labelled “inferior” by the majority. "The Outrage” is far more explicitly Queer, dealing with Queer characters oppressed by laws based on Section 28 legislation, where “Q” explores the dangers of eugenics similarly to “The Chrysalids”. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed reading “The Handmaid's Tale” by Margaret Atwood - another post-apocalyptic novel which sees contaminated land used to threaten those who don't conform - or “Unwind” by Neal Shusternan, another story about a daring flight from a dangerous society.
I first read “The Chrysalids” in 2009, when I was still at primary school. I liked it then, but a lot of it went over my head as a child. I decided to reread it in 2023 because I realised that I probably hadn't understood it fully the first time, and that I couldn't remember much of the plot. I read “Chocky” and “The Kraken Wakes” by the same author last year after high recommendation (which I will now pass on to you) from my family, and loved them, so I thought I ought to reread “The Chrysalids” as well. I enjoyed it, and appreciated it, far more this time! I hope to reread “The Day of the Triffids” and “The Midwich Cuckoos” in 2023 as well. It's been a long time since I read those, too, and I think I'm getting back into John Wyndham's books!

Hello!! Just re-reading and I have to say, its very compelling to me that both Taylor AND The Joker view their time apart those eleven years as them being 'taken' from each other. Its clear pretty quickly thats how Taylor sees it, I guess it was just shocking in a good way that he saw it like that as well, like she was already his for someone to take. Very complex! When you read Clockwork the Joker seems like hes just fine with Taylor being taken into the state's custody at the end, hes laughing and seems happy and buzzed that he got to see Batman. However, later when he is musing on it, he thinks of it as when she was 'taken from him', and its almost implying that he never planned on really giving her up in the first place. Am I totally off? I totally get that you probably ended Clockwork like that on purpose, leaving some things to the reader's imagination, but I am just really curious if he was aware she was going to be taken as soon as she was, or can I ask did he maybe think they were going to escape, if they did what would he have done with her eventually? I hope you're having a lovely day, your story has been great for my Sunday off work!
Hi baby! Thank you so much for dropping in! I'm glad you are enjoying my stories! Thank you for taking the time to go back and reread them... I absolutely love and appreciate that so much.
I definitely feel like the Joker would have viewed his time with Taylor in Clockwork as having been "cut short" in the sense that he never got to carry out his master plan (which was killing her/sacrificing her in front of the entire city). He was essentially going to give Gotham a "choice" of whether they wanted to witness the murder of this little girl or whether they wanted to choose option B (which was blowing up the entire city) -- although the catch was that he wasn't going to reveal what option B was unless that was the option that the vast majority of people chose.
Initially, when I was writing Clockwork, I had no intention of writing a sequel (or any of the spinoffs/AUs that have since resulted) so the Joker DID plan on killing her, in the beginning of the story, and he was totally fine with that. However, as time went on, I think you can see in the story when his feelings begin to change and he starts to become more intrigued and even a little smitten by her. If he had been able to go through with his plan, he ultimately would have ended up choosing "option B" regardless of what the people of Gotham had decided upon. That's pretty significant that he would have spared her life.
It's hard to say what he might have done with her if they had actually managed to get away at the end. I don't think even he'd know. I feel like he might've kept her in a safehouse somewhere tucked away, under the watch of one of his most trusted men (that's vital, for obvious reasons). He wouldn't have spent a lot of time with her in the way they do in Burn (living out that little domestic fantasy he's carved for her), but he'd be around enough for her to grow even more attached to him and for her to miss him when he's gone. My gosh, can you just imagine all the terrible things he'd teach her? Like, how to load and fire a gun, how to stab someone. He'd portrait it as if he were teaching her valuable life skills that she needed to know. Meanwhile, he'd be keeping her out of school and learning stuff that actually matters. Imagine if she never learned how to read! Or write! My gosh. That's a fucking dark timeline.
One of my readers is actually writing an AU based off Clockwork where this very scenario takes place, so you get to see Taylor at the age of 8 or 9, in a timeline where she got to remain with the Joker after Clockwork. I'm unbelievably excited for this since this is an age we've never seen her at before.
Anyway, I hope I managed to answer your questions? Let me know if I missed anything! Thanks so much for asking!

Hey I just wanted to ask don't you think you're being way too negative towards tlh as a whole right now? I mean sure everyone can and should want and expect better things as well as criticize what they don't like and I agree with a good chunk of what you're saying in most posts but others seem a bit too nit picky (for me).
Of course CC has messed up some things and didn't deliver for others but that's mostly because of fans expectation of what's about to happen and biases. When you expect that something is going to fail no matter how good it is its always gonna feel underwhelming and when you get too attached to theories it feels wrong when they aren't cannon.
Anyone can enjoy things as much as they like but when you expect things to fail and just be plain bad I feel like you're just lowering even your enjoyment. After all if you dig far enough you can find stuff you hate even about your favorite things in the world and make them unenjoyable.
And I'm not saying that you can't be disappointed or hold CC or tlh to a higher standard but at the same time when you think about all the things you hate/dislike you forget what you like/love.
Point is I feel like no matter what people should just read chot with an open mind because no one knows what's inside of CC's brain and it could be brilliant or a disaster. Either way there is no chance that EVERYONE will be happy.
Btw I dunno if it sounds aggressive or not and I wanna apologize if i offend you in any way this isn't hate or anything I really like you content I just wanted to share my opinion
hi dear!!!
I'm so sorry for taking so long to answer; I didn't mean to ignore this
I actually thought about this ask a lot, but wasn't sure how to formulate an answer
First of all - do not apologize!! You can always send me your thoughts if they're not straight up offensive or rude; worst case scenario, we'll agree to disagree. So, really, you're fine!
I think you actually did have a point, and at the point you sent this, I was quite overwhelmed with just,,,, frustration, at TLH in general, so I was being too negative - and even worse, fixating on the negative stuff, which honestly does no one any good.
Since then I've come to the conclusion that 1) just as I expect that from others, I need to chill a little when it comes to scrutinizing and judging the characters' behaviour, and you know, remember they're kids and everyone makes mistakes and all that really basic jazz. 2) there are really many things that bother me about TLH, and I won't stop thinking/talking about them, but in some moments I'm being a little too harsh and ruining the fun for myself.
You're definitely right about forgetting the good things - that's another thing I decided on lately, that I wanna remind myself those. I do plan a reread in the near future (I know I've been saying that for a while, but it's still true xdd) and hopefully then I'll remember the good things and appreciate them a little. That doesn't erase the bad things, but as you say, I need to draw a line at some point.
And finally - there's still hope for ChoT. Judging a piece of media halfway through is always a little stupid, because you can't tell how it's going to end and whether the things you didn't like weren't actually necessary. I still worry about Alastair, because I'm more than convinced CC's personal views of him are what we're actually seeing from the characters, and they're v questionable and I can bet they won't be addressed/mended in ChoT, and since he's one of my faves this just,,,,, ruins TLH for me, to a great extent. But let's have some hope, still. (Same with Kamala,,,, the way CC talks about her outside of books really doesn't bode well)
I guess getting attached to non-canon things and theories is part of the fandom experience, and while it's important to remember we're kinda spoiling the fun for ourselves, it also simply sucks when you see all that potential the og creator didn't use. So I guess that's not something one can escape.
Anyway, thank you so much for this ask - I hope I make sense and it's clear that I actually appreciate your input. To some degree, you're definitely right, and I truly kept that in mind ever since I first read this ask.
