one of the things that makes Bowser Luigi unique in the pantheon of hero/villain ships is that, while yes, Luigi is a hero, and Bowser a villain, he and Bowser aren't nemesis.

Mario is Bowser's nemesis, and King Boo is Luigi's. In the main series, Luigi is the side kick (and before y'all start shit, I mean in the character role sense, not some weird level of importance), and while I also like the dynamics you get from Bowser/Mario, it's a different vibe.

Luigi isn't necessary to the main story, a great addition, but not necessary that's why unless there's multiplayer mode, he's left out of the main adventure. And that's what makes the ship interesting!

It's like if in the Popeye cartoons Bluto decided to stop chasing Olive Oyl and started dating Wimpy. God I'm old does anyone get that reference.

They don't have to work past years of hate because they only ever disliked each other by proxy.

That's why people go to comparing tham to Belle and Beast so hard, because like Disney's Belle, Luigi also is kind of an outsider in their own town. (And also why the BaTB story doesn't work for Bowsario, as Mario is too loved).

Idk I've just seen a few people who seem to think the two ships are basically interchangeable and like, no. It's a different vibe and I can totally understand why people are drawn to the more unique of the two.
