CASE STUDY - SHIRI TAKACS

Slide 1 - After sifting through several big companies and not relating to any of them, i decided to look specially at ethical designers, and came across Shiri Takacs, who goes by ‘the vegan designer’ .

Slide 2 - I related to her most out of all the agencies and designers i found, because of her authenticity. I found my values alining with hers massively, along with her passion for working with companies who are ‘doing good’ in her words.

Slide 3 - Weekly market in north HollywoodDesigned to be fun and family friendlyHer bold playful work for me show’s that vegan art doesn’t have to be the stigmatised ‘earthy looking’ artwork we usually see.

Slide 4 - One question I emailed her asking was about how she went about growing her brand, and she simply replied with show who you are. Brands and companies want to work with real people who really WANT to be doing what they’re doing.

Slide 5 - This was a logo she designed for a new all vegan food shop. She explained in her email to me that we as designers only have a few seconds to grab the attention and make a connection. And i think this logo shows that perfectly.

Slide 6 - One of Shiri’s biggest things she explained to me as part of her brand is that she likes to stay with companies for a lengthy amount of time, building a relationship with them, i think this is something I would potentially pursue too.

Slide 7 - The vegan street fair is an example of this in her work. It’s held in LA annually and has been a client of hers since conception. and she has designed pretty much everything for them, even avatars and gifs.

Slide 8 - I then asked her how she goes about sticking to her ethics whilst looking for work and she replied with the above, which I think speaks for itself.

Slide 9 - Eat Love is a client of Shiri’s that again she has done almost all their branding. They are a vegan fried chicken food truck. I wanted to show this company finally as I think it shows how many opportunities there really are for designers like myself that I just need to discover, and not worry about having to go against my morals for work.

Slide 10 - With that in mind I did ask Shiri to finally explain how she decided to focus entirely on ethical branding. And she explained how although yes at first you think the visuals are where you start, but the message behind the visuals is what makes it relevant in todays society
