Puck Luck Fest 2024 — a hrpf magical realism prompt meme!

let your characters live in a world where wishes made on the stanley cup come true! stick 'em in a time loop! make the hockey gods real, and have them curse some guys for real! we are using the hrpf fandom's interpretation of magical realism for this fest, where most things about characters' lives are the same. except ... there's a truth curse, or soulbonds, or a wishbaby, or someone transforms into an animal, etc. fic with a more urban fantasy flavor (everything's the same except that werewolves or vampires or witches, etc. are real) is also totally welcome in this fest. basically — any prompt or fic where the premise is 'hockey + some brand of magic' is welcome here! you can get as high concept as you want and develop lore and rules for magic to tell your story. or you can also keep things lowkey, and let your characters be completely shocked to find out they live in a world where their captain gets de-aged after a bad game.

center . regulus is incredibly light on his feet, and consequently extremely fast, able to weave through the opposing players almost as if it’s nothing. not much of a fighter, yet has still come home to you a few times with the beginnings of a bruise blooming under his skin and small scrapes here and there after a particularly nasty one. getting him to do media is like pulling teeth, especially after a hard loss. promises to teach you how to skate if you can’t already, and refuses to let go of his hold on your waist until you’re one hundred percent confident in your abilities. the moment you’re stable, though ,he’s challenging you to races, taking off before you can even say ‘go’ with a smug smile etched onto his face.

what it is: this fest is to either pressure you or enable you to finish one (or more!) hockey rpf works that you have in progress. if you are motivated by shame or you're a people-pleaser, you should know that i'm very nice and will be deeply disappointed in you if you don't finish. if you are motivated by a deadline, you've got until 12/31/2023 to post it. if you are motivated by robots, beep beep boop 01101101 01001. if you're motivated by cheerleading, i think you're the best and i can't wait to see whatever it is that you've been sitting on, chin in hands, gazing so fondly at these works that you have produced with your hands and brain. if you're motivated by fame and glory, please know that you're famous and glorious in my eyes.

4. Please make appropriate use of the archive warnings or, alternatively, the "Choose Not To Warn" option.
