Happy Sunday, everyone! Another gentle reminder that works are due in a little over three days on Wednesday, March 20, at 9PM PT.
At or shortly after 9PM PT, I will close the collection for new submission. Please make sure your works are out of draft mode at that point! I will be doing a brief look over everything on March 21 to make things are appropriately warned for. You can continue making up edits up until reveals on March 22, but you do need to have your fic out of draft mode by 9PM on Wednesday.

Hi I have a question! The generic prompt (first one) is able to be claimed for any kind of fic, right? So if I wanted to write a fic in which all the players go scuba diving (even though that's not a prompt anywhere else) I could write it and use that as the prompt? Even if it has nothing to do with the line "I just wanted to stay in one place for a while"?

Yes! Exactly. It's a general prompt for anything you want to write, it has nothing to do with anything. I made it because sometimes people run into problems trying to add a fic to a prompt meme collection when the fic is not connected to a specific prompt. So if you need something to attach your fic to that's nonspecific, you can use that as a general prompt.

Okay so probably very dumb buuuut, I want to claim a prompt for the promtmeme that’s going now. But I can’t for the life of me figure out how to do so?! Please help.
No dumb questions!! Under a cut. I did this on my phone but it should look similar on the web version, just with everything on the left side of the screen as opposed to the top.
So you want to claim a prompt. Go to the prompt list.
The highlighted. Probably you have figured this part out already but just in case. Everything blacked out is stuff only the mod can see, don't worry about it.
Hit the prompt list and find the prompt you want.
Where it says claim, hit that button. This is claiming your prompt.
It will take you to the following screen:
Which is your claims list! When you claim a new prompt, you will see the blue bar thing letting you know you claimed a prompt. When you want to fulfill your prompt, hit fulfill. I made another how-to, I'll dig it up and add it to the post shortly. edit: it's here!

Hello, lovely mod! Sorry to bother you, but I had a bit of a problem. :( I finished my first fic for the fest and marked it as the fill for the claim I have, then tried to post it. It said I could not because the fest was not open for new works. Does that mean I need to wait with my fics until March? I also do not have the option to fill a claim right now, just to drop one/pick one up. I've never done a promptfest before, so I apologize for the stupidity of the question if the answer is obvious lol
You are NOT stupid!!! But your mod sure is because he hit the wrong clicky box that did in fact prevent posting. Try it again and let me know if it's still not working.

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, i’ve never participated in a prompt meme before 🙈🫣 I’m signed up and i’ve claimed the prompts I wanna do, how do I submit my works when they’re done? Obviously not right now (I haven’t even started, yikes) but as the March deadline approaches and i’m finishing them up, how do I do that?
No stupid questions!! And congrats on participating in your first prompt meme 🤩🦑 Here is AO3's official guide to fulfilling prompts, however if you've never done it before, it can seem a little confusing, so under the cut is a guide with pictures. I'm doing this on my phone, sorry in advance if it looks screwy. It will look a little different on desktop for the placement of the links, but everything is basically the same.
Also if you're only posting on Tumblr, you can just tag this account and we'll reblog!
On AO3:
So you claimed a prompt and want to post a fanwork!! 🥳🥳🥳 When you go to the collection page, you should have options at the top of the page or to the left of the page on desktop that look like this:
Hit "my claims" (the blacked-out lines, I marked those off bc they're links that are only visible to mods). You'll see something that looks like this page:
Hit "Fulfill'. It will take you to the post new work page. It should look something like this:
This is a good indicator that you are fulfilling the claim, however check the associations box on the post work page for the following:
Make sure you have the correct prompt selected for the prompt meme AND that you're posting to the right collection/challenge. If you hit fulfill on the challenge page, everything should look like this.
And then you just fill out everything as normal and hit post and you're good!
One thing to note is that your work will NOT show up on your works dashboard page unless you hit the "Works in Collections" button. It will show up in the prompt meme collection, but I've set it to hide all works until reveals, so you will see your work in the collection but it will be in a gray box to mark that it's not visible and no one will be able to engage with it. When I reveal works on March 22, it will post as normal, but!! You will be marked as an anonymous creator until March 27 when I de-anonymize creators. There will be a five day period where you are anonymous, but after March 27, you will be listed as the creator as normal. I do this to allow all creators a fair shot at being engaged with equally.
