And it also happens to have the first college sanctioned gay group in the country - the Student Homophile League - for people like him. And that makes him happy. He hopes. He just has to muster up the courage to actually go to one of the League meetings. Instead he wastes his time staring at that icy hippie in his music history class who doesn’t know he exists. He needs to stop pretending people are gay in his head and actually meet some real homosexuals.
Blaine coming of age in 1969. Hippie!Kurt. Elliott and Sebastian as Blaine’s mentor-friends. Unironic use of ‘groovy’. Coming out and fitting in and falling in love.

On this Indigenous People’s Day, we are featuring Matika Wilbur’s recent publication Project 562: Changing the Way We See Native America, published by Ten Speed Press in 2023. Wilbur (b. 1984) is a visual storyteller and member of the Swinomish and Tulalip peoples of coastal Washington. She holds a degree from the Brooks Institute of Photography alongside a teaching certificate that has shaped her style of educating through narrative portraits.
Project 562: Changing the Way We See Native America, a book born from a documentary project of the same name, resolves to share contemporary Native issues and culture. In 2012 Wilbur set out from Seattle to visit and photograph all 562 plus Native American sovereign territories in the United States.
Wilbur’s engagement with the communities she visited resulted in the creation of hundreds of dynamic portraits and documentation of conversations about “tribal sovereignty, self-determination, wellness, recovery from historical trauma, decolonization of the mind, and revitalization of culture.” She refers to her portraiture approach as “an indigenous photography method” that includes several hours and sometimes days of interaction with the participants, an exchange of energy and gifts, and asking sitters to choose their portrait location. The outcome is a stunning collection of Native narratives and portraits.

(Klaine) If I Can Make Your Heart My Home - (Klaine Reverse Bang 2023) Life in New York City and working in the restaurant industry wasn’t exactly what Kurt Hummel had expected it would be. He’s lonely, stressed out and miserable. He’s almost ready to throw in the towel and return home to Ohio when a chance meeting with a musician in Central Park changes everything. (Warning: an angsty rollercoaster of a ride. Soooo many cameos from Glee characters! 😉)
(Klaine) Falling For You -(Klaine Secret Santa 2023 - NOW COMPLETE AS OF 4/16/24) - Successful doctor, Blaine Anderson has his hands full heading up the pediatric wing of Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in NY City. Life with that job and his precocious 6 year old daughter certainly keeps him on his toes - so much so that he thinks he can avoid dealing with the hole left in his life from the death of his husband. Little does he know that falling in love is on the horizon, quite literally, when he meets a florist by the name of Kurt Hummel. (Kid!fic with a bit of angst but a happy ending)
(RWRB) Puppy Love - (RWRB NYE gift exchange 2023) The cold snowy day that Henry Fox discovers an abandoned beagle puppy in an alley brings handsome, flirty veterinarian, Alex Claremont-Diaz into his life. Alex is a single dad, recently moved to NY with his young son who Henry hasn't met yet - or so Alex thought. (Fluffy kid!fic)
(Klaine) Sanctuary - (Klaine Word Scramble 2023) Crown Prince Blaine has stumbled into a secluded glade, trying to escape the horrors of the bloody war his father had brought upon their kingdom. Mourning his beloved older brother and faced with the burden of taking his place in the kingdom, Blaine yearns for a place to hid from the world to deal with the issues weighing on his heavy heart. He encounters a mysterious elf, the guardian of the magical spring that Blaine has mistakenly defiled, whose growing connection to his life the young prince can't ignore. (Inspired by an idea/ artwork by @datshitrandom and @justgleekout)

(RWRB) I approach, and I withdraw (tentative title) - Historical fic - Alejandro Diaz was still a boy when he followed his father into the thick of the fight for Mexico's independence. A series of unfortunate events, however, led him and his family to flee his home and to adopt new identities for their own safety. Years later, after he finds himself well ensconced in his new life as an attaché to the office of the new American ambassador to England, Alexander Claremont soon finds his past catching up to him. (Inspired by these historical paintings by @stormtrooperjeff17004 as well as artwork from @artofobsession seen here and here.)
(RWRB) Shaken, Not Stirred (Spy!AU) - CIA Officer Alex Claremont Diaz is not new to working on joint operations with other foreign agencies. He does it often and he does it well, which is why his superior, Zahra Bankston, never hesitates to assign them to him. What he wasn't expecting that morning was to be put on a new assignment with his least favorite MI6 operative, Henry Fox - and that they had to use being a newly married couple as their cover to get the job done. (Inspired by this drawing by @noodles-and-tea )
(Klaine) Cuffed (a D/s and soulmate story and prequel to my first ever fic, Trick or Treat) - - Musician Blaine Anderson has always been lonely sub, yearning for a place to belong and someone to belong to. Kurt Hummel is the an overworked and high in demand designer - a Dom with no time to sit and relax and focus on what his needs are. When an old friend hires Kurt to revamp his new club, Kurt's life becomes intertwined with Blaine's in a way neither of them could ignore.
(Klaine) Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie (Day 2 /Bikini - Klaine Advent 2023/ PWP) - A casual little fashion critique while the boys are on a well needed vacation, leads to a little outdoor fun. (Set in my Trick or Treat AU)
(RWRB) how ardently i admire and love you (online auction!AU) - Alex is desperate to find the perfect birthday gift for Henry, and eventually finds himself in an online bidding war for the one unique item that he knows his boyfriend would just adore.
(Klaine) I Know You Wanna Take Me Home (tentative title) (Klaine Valentines Challenge 2024/Pretty Woman!AU) Well established business man, Kurt Hummel never thought he could find anyone of substance among the escorts at Dalton House. But after being convinced to visit the upscale club by his friend, Kurt's mind is quickly changed once he sets his eyes on a beautiful boy in a gilded cage who was up for auction that night.
(Klaine) Untitled Klaine fic (Klaine Advent 2022) - Set in my Klaine superhero AU - Under The Cover of Darkness) Blaine decides to go home with Kurt for the holidays and doesn't make the best first impression with Kurt's parents.
(Klaine) Untitled Klaine fic (Feudal Japan!AU) - based off of novel The Tokaido Road - On a personal mission to avenge the murder of his father, Kurt travels the Tokaido , braving its dangers and interesting characters on the way. As the son of a nobleman, Kurt travels in disguise, unaware that the person who sanctioned his father's murderer has also sent Blaine, a talented and deadly ronin, to find and kill Kurt as well.
(RWRB)- the phantom touch of your hand (tentative title) - (Fantasy/cursed tattoo fic!AU) Two young swordsmen are determined to vanquish a sorcerer who has laid a tragic curse on them both. The problem is, the curse keeps them from being together at the same time, doomed to travel alone, one by day, the other by night - the only reminder of the other being the cursed tattoo burned into their skin.
(Klaine) - Untitled Klaine fic (While You were Sleeping!AU) - Kurt Hummel always wanted to live in NYC - his dreams were to be on Broadway. Being on the Broadway stage that is. Not working on the corner of Broadway and 44th in one of those coffee/food carts parked out on the street. Things for him change the day that Cooper Anderson, Kurt's gorgeous repeat customer whom he secretly fantasizes about, nearly gets hit by a bus. After following him to the hospital, Kurt gets mistaken for being his crush's fiancee which should have been his dream come true - until he meets Cooper's sweet down to earth brother, Blaine.
(Sebklaine) Untitled Klaine fic (PWP College threesome) - heavily influenced by "one of those movies" - wink, wink . . - Kurt's frustrated ( in more ways than one) and his good friends Blaine and Sebastian find a way to help him out.
(Klaine/RWRB) - Untitled fic (Scheherazade/ 1001 Arabian Nights !AU) - A lone traveler gets captured by a band of sex slavers in the desert. After being subjected to the horrors of slavery, the young man gets rescued by a desert prince in disguise, chosen to be his sole consort. Every evening, the consort tells his prince a story for him amusement. - planning a series of probably shorts all in the same style. Maybe it'll be a collection to do with other writers? Not sure yet. Might alternate with either Henry/Alex being the Prince and Consort and Blaine/Kurt being the characters in the bedtime tales or vice versa. Or maybe create 2 OC to be the Prince/Consort and have the other four boys be the characters in the shorter stories. I'm assuming it would be alot of mature/explicit shorts - but wouldn't mind a mix of other ratings in between as well.

Lately, I've been wandering around a bit, reading stories in younger fandoms. I've stumbled upon some real gems out there, but searching through the stories has made me even more grateful for the many Klaine fanfictions.
I have often wondered, where are my Single Parents, Arranged Marriages, Age Gap, Soulmate, and Fake Relationship stories?
I feel that, perhaps because it has been around for so long, we have such a wide variety of stories and topics for every interest.
I mean, seriously, think about it.
Do you want a 200,000-word fantasy story with its own enchanting lore? Stories with pirates, superheroes, vampires, werewolves, witches, or aliens? Perhaps some steamy D/s narratives set in an entirely new universe? Or how about meticulously researched historical settings that transport you to a different era? Are you intrigued by characters with extraordinary professions or sports skills? Or do you prefer darker, more angsty tales – think mafia, prostitution, or stories of homelessness? Maybe a character has a mental illness or disability?
Whatever you're into, you'll find not just one but a plethora of captivating Klaine stories on diverse and creative topics. And the quality and depth of these stories are often through the roof!
So, a massive shoutout and heartfelt thanks to our amazing fanfiction writers! Your dedication and talent bring so much joy to this fandom, and I'm endlessly grateful for every story you share with us.

Fic: So Close
Fandom/pairing: Glee, Kurt/Blaine
Event: December Klaine Fanworks Challenge 2023, day 13: dimension
Words: ~275 words
Rating: teen and up
Summary: Kurt and Blaine visit the Audi factory and museum in Ingolstadt, Germany.
Notes: This is part of my Mormon!Klaine universe. It takes place during Out of Eden, which I am still in the process of posting to AO3. I'm planning to post it as part of a later chapter. I don't think it's too spoilery, but it's up to you whether you want to read it now or wait until it's on AO3.
Blaine had so much fun at the Audi Forum. He wasn't much of a car guy, but Kurt was, and he lit up on their tour of the plant.
Although they couldn't take photos inside, Blaine snapped at least a dozen of Kurt standing in front of the building, posing on the bollards like a fashion model. Blaine wished he could tell Kurt how hot he looked in his skinny jeans and body-skimming waistcoat over his scissor-patterned shirt, but instead he had to satisfy himself with, "You look amazing, Kurt. Absolutely amazing!”
Photos were allowed at the museum, and Kurt snapped car after car, insisting that Blaine join him for selfies in front of the more interesting historical models. “Your dad doesn't want to see me in all these pictures of cars,” Blaine said as Kurt pulled him in tight against his shoulder, Kurt's arm wrapped around his back and his hand resting comfortingly on Blaine's bicep, their cheeks so close Blaine could feel the heat radiating off Kurt's face.
“Of course he does,” Kurt said. “You charmed the socks off him on Mother's Day. He called you a ‘nice young man’ in his latest email. Anyway, who said these pictures are for him?”
Blaine felt warm inside. His own father had never called him a ‘nice young man.’ But if Mr. Hummel thought Blaine was one, then maybe he would also think Blaine was good enough for his son. He hoped so, at least.
Kurt chattered on and on about the dimensions of European cars versus American ones and all the different types of engines—diesel versus gasoline, naturally aspirated versus forced induction, twin turbo versus bi-turbo. For the first time in his life, Blaine found himself interested in all these distinctions, because Kurt made them interesting.

im asking about prohibition era klaine au!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fjgsdhjvdfjirhjgsfhk okay thank you for indulging me youre so wonderful here it goes
so im a slut for a period fic if im honest. i always enjoy historical fics but i rarely write them myself.
HOWEVER, i noticed when it comes to 1920s/prohibition fics for klaine, i kinda notice some tropes that i wanted to combat a bit. i always enjoy the mob boss blaine fics but i feel like it’s often done at the expense of kurt’s personality and autonomy.
so in my prohibition fic, i am playing with the Anderson family mob family trope BUT i wanted to make kurt not so complicit. i feel like kurt has agency in canon and that could still be brought back to the 1920s in a realistic way.
so basically, blaine’s family runs a lot of speakeasies in new york (as was commonplace for crime families to do during the prohibition) and frequents a few from time to time. typically people know who he is, and are intimidated by him.
anyway, one time he goes and he sees a singer performing that he’s never seen before and is immediately fascinated by the kid. ( “kid” being a relative term here. kurt is 21 and blaine is closer to his 30s). he calls the bar owner over to ask about the singer and has the bar owner send him over
blaine get to talk to this guy, and it occurs to him quickly that kurt doesn’t realize who he is, at least not from looks alone. bc of this, kurt is coy and breezy (in a way that is safe for a young gay man to be in the 1920s. so to say, it’s playful but “nonthreatening”). its only when someone refers to blaine by name does kurt realize who he is.
his whole demeanor changes then bc oh shit bc this guy is blaine anderson like crime family blaine anderson. hes tense but composed, at least for the time being.
basically, without giving too much away, the energy in the room has shifted. there’s some power play occurring bc kurt isnt immediately folding to the fact that he is Blaine Anderson. blaine finds this intriguing about kurt and in a sense becomes somewhat enamored with him in a weird way
ultimately, fast forward he decides he wants kurt. and when you’re a member of a crime family, you typically get the things you want. however, given Kurt is not really one to be forced into things, he doesn’t go willingly. thus begins a game of cat and mouse. blaine could very easily have what he wants, but there’s no fun in just taking. he wants kurt to come willingly.
pair this dynamic with the fact of kurt and blaine both doing illegal work (working in a speakeasy, though not nearly as criminal as what blaine does, is still illegal), and that they are operating under a still anti-homosexual america, it is builds the foundation for what will eventually become the building blocks of the fic

Thanks @bitbybitwrites for thinking of me <3 This is great, because I've been kind of looking over my projects and where I'm at with them today. So, this is a nice refresher. :)

2. Which of your WIPs is currently the longest?
Head Over Feet
3. Which WIP do you expect will end up the longest?
The Smut Challenge. I mean, there's 365 total chapters, how is that not the longest??
4. Which WIP is your favourite to write/the most enjoyable to write? Why?
I'm really focused on Head Over Feet more than the others at the moment. This is a story that, really, I wanted to write when I got into fandom -- a story about them finding each other again after their break up. I realize there are so many versions of this fic, but it's also a rite of passage I think to do it.
5. Which WIP do you find the most intimidating to write? Why?
Oh god The Smut Challenge. There are only so many ways you can write smut. One reason I stopped is that it was getting redundant.
6. Which WIP do you experience the most self-doubt about. Why?
Maybe Spaces In-Between. A complete canon compliant fic is something I always wanted to do - but it's been hard to come up with ideas for Season 1, and it hasn't gotten that much attention. Plus, I really found the first chapter really great - but then it's the only feedback that I got some negativity on, and have been unsure ever since.
7. Which of your WIPs will you seek out a beta/sensitivity reader for? Why?
I'll ask my lovely @snarkyhag for help with Head Over Feet and In The City That We Love -- because they're bigger stories, and room for more mistakes.
8. Have any of your WIPs been struck by the curse of writer's block?
All of them at some point. I feel like I'm just getting back into it after being out of it for at least six months to almost a year.
9. Which WIP has your favourite OC? Tell us about them?
I don't know that I have any? Not for the wips anyway.
10. Which WIP is the sexiest?
I mean, I guess Smut Challenge by default? They're all gonna have smut in it.
11. Which WIP is the angstiest?
Head Over Feet is pretty angsty. But if I'm guessing overall, Spaces In Between will end up being more so.
12. Which WIP has the best characterisation (in your humble opinion)? Right now - Head Over Feet, but I think I'm pretty consistent at keeping them all kind of the same.
13. Which WIP has the best scene setting (in your humble opinion)?
Hmmm, I'm terrible at scene description, so I'll leave that up to you.
14. Which WIP have you worked the hardest on?
Right now, Head Over Feet. but I'll end up working pretty hard on all of them. Though Smut Challenge will continue to be a little tongue and cheek if I get back to it.
15. Which WIP do you have the highest expectations for? Why?
I hope that, overall, you guys end up really enjoying Head Over Feet and In The City That We Love. I'm hoping that once Blaine enters the picture, Spaces In Between will pick up a bit. And I'm hoping that I do get back to the Smut Challenge, because self indulgently, I'd like it to get a ton of hits and make its way up the most read Klaine fic list.
16. Do you dream about any of your WIPs?
No. I think about them enough during the day - my brain has other things to contend with at night lol.
17. Do any of your WIPs have particular complexities that your other fics don't? I'd really liked to go back to the CrossRhodes saga once I'm done with a few of the others -- but it's a historical mystery, and that just adds a level of difficulty to it. I also think keeping the smut challenge new and refreshing is the tricky part there.
18. Which WIP is the funniest or has the most humour?

19. Do any of your WIPs contain outside POVs or a deep dive on a character other than the main ship? How are you finding that process? Nope. Though, there are a couple of chapters of In The City That We Love that I may branch out a little because the original sketch had a fascinating character study of the full group.
20. Tell us one thing we don't know about one or more of your WIPs.
Honestly - maybe not necessarily about WIPs, but the fact that we're now so far away from the show ending, sometimes I wonder why I'm still writing. I mean - I'm writing for me and because I enjoy it. But I do wish the audience pool was a little bigger. Though I do appreciate that there still is an audience pool here. Idk, maybe I'll write an Ed/Stede oneshot to sooth my ego or something, lol.
Also, maybe semi-related, I have original fiction that I'd like to really settle down and write some day. I've been working on world building for twenty years, the problem is, who knows if it'd ever get published, or if I had an audience outside my family, which is why I continue to go back to fanfic. :P

kiss prompt 36 + klaine pleasee ?
Thank you! This prompt marinated in my head and turned into something I'm really excited about, so I hope you like it! Set in some sort of vaguely historical place in time.
(also psst, there is going to be a continuation to this in the next couple of days in the form of another kiss prompt fic)
36. A Kiss to Give Up Control
“My fate is in your hands.”
Kurt can’t handle the soft yet so, so strong devotion in Blaine’s eyes as he looks deep into Kurt’s, so sure and full of trust. Kurt feels like he might shatter under that look, under Blaine’s love.
“You can’t just say that,” he whispers, hardly getting the words out. “There must be a way…”
“I can’t delay the wedding anymore. Aunt June is going through with it this weekend no matter what I say, and she’s pissed that I’ve managed to stall this long.” Blaine’s hands are shaking slightly where they hold on to Kurt’s even though his voice and eyes are unwavering.
“But…”
“I will not fault you if you decide to stay away,” Blaine says and his eyes are growing wet. “It might be the easier route. I wish I didn’t have to ask you to exile yourself from your family and friends just for me, but… Kurt, you’re my only hope anymore.”
Kurt swallows. He knows what his heart wants – it wants the impossible. His heart wants to keep the young prince as his lover, as his partner, but also to stay close to his dad, Carole, Finn, and Mercedes back in the city. If he chooses Blaine, he chooses a life on the run. They can’t stay in the kingdom if they stop the wedding. Kurt’s name will be ruined forever. If he chooses his home, his family, and the life he knows, he dooms Blaine to an unhappy marriage and separates them from each other for good. June Dolloway is no fool and she’s onto them already. She will not suffer Kurt under her roof once Blaine is married.
“I’ve done all I can to defy her. I’ve tried everything, and the truth is that I’m tired.” Blaine looks down, stares at their joined hands for a moment. “I’m tired of fighting her. I hate the constant confrontations. So, I’m good with whatever you decide. I’m with you, if you want to leave with me. If not, please go on with the knowledge that I’ll love you forever.”
“I love you,” is all Kurt can say, his mind overwhelmed with indecision.
“I’ll be yours either way,” Blaine promises softly before lifting his eyes and looking into Kurt’s with so much love shining through that it takes Kurt’s breath away. Blaine leans in, presses a longing kiss on his mouth, sucking his bottom lip and touching it with his tongue. Kurt opens his mouth, lets Blaine in, but Blaine only gives his tongue a short caress with his own before retreating and kissing his cheeks, his closed eyes, and rising to his tiptoes, his forehead.
“You don’t have to decide now. We have until the end of the week.”
Kurt nods, numb. He can’t open his eyes, can’t face Blaine, because he’s torn and he doesn’t want Blaine to see that.
He doesn’t know what to do and with those kisses Blaine just placed his whole life into Kurt’s hands.

I'm really curious about reading this fic again. I can't remember a whole bunch. It's when Kurt and Blaine are kids. They live in the country across the street from each other. It takes place probably sometimes in early to mid 1900's. Kurt and Blaine are very close friends and Blaines dad is in the military, I believe. At some point Blaines dad says they're not allowed to see each other anymore and he's possibly is abusive? Thank you so much even if you can't find it.

It means I love you in Slovene, which I didn’t know up until now (but also, my Slovene knowledge is quite limited and I never had a reason to learn this sentence) (unlike Klaine I was not there for a Slovenian romance). After all, Blaine has such a hard time saying I love you to Quinn. Maybe he’s saving it for someone else 👀???

Kongresni trg is the place to be.
Kurt loves sitting in the grass - on a blanket, mind you, he’s not going to ruin his clothes - and breathing in the scent from the pizza place in the corner. He’s not attached to the square because of its historical value, but because he likes being here. It’s a nice green spot in the heart of the capital. It’s surrounded by gorgeous buildings and you have a stunning view of the Ljubljana Castle on top of the Castle Hill.
Kurt’s only been here for a few days, but he already loves this place as a spot to unwind. And again, the great pizza place is an added bonus.
Kurt watches a man walk towards the pizza place in a hurry, as if his life is depending on it and Kurt smiles. He understands the appeal of the place. A few minutes later the man comes outside with a huge slice. The pizza place is small, so you have more place to sit outside. It’s a cold February day, but it’s doable. That’s why Kurt is also outside.
No one has warned this guy about the birds, though.
The moment he sits down, a flock of little sparrows land on the table and they try to get some of the pizza. At first the guy seems amused, but since more birds keep arriving, the amusement changes into slight panic. He throws some crust on the floor in hopes of distracting the birds and sure, some fly down to peck at it, but this means more birds arrive. He looks distraught.
Is that guy afraid of birds?
Kurt doesn’t have the moral obligation to save a stranger’s pizza, but he gets up anyway. He quickly rolls up his blanket and walks towards the table.
“Shoo, shoo!” he shoos.
The guy shoots Kurt a grateful look.
The sparrows don’t give up so easily though.
“Begone, birdies,” Kurt says and after more overly enthusiastic movement, the flock leaves. Kurt might look absolutely ridiculous, but the guy is looking at him as if he’s God himself.
“Hvala,” the guy says, “I was- uh, wait, English?”
“Yes,” Kurt says back, “I’m American.”
“Oh, me too!” the guy sounds relieved again, “I just moved here last night and as you can see, I am kind of a mess.” He lets out a self-deprecating laugh.
“Are you afraid of birds?” Kurt asks.
The guy shakes his head.
“No, I like birds. Usually. But I am just very tired right now and I think my brain fried when those birds arrived,” he says.
“They love the pizza,” Kurt shrugs, “Every time I get a slice, they are here.”
“You live here for long?” the guy asks.
Kurt shakes his head. He is just obsessed with this pizza place, but that might be a bit too embarrassing to say. Kurt did pick up his Boni yesterday, so maybe his pizza addiction will subdue.
“I only moved here a week ago,” he answers.
“Okay. Oh. My name is Blaine, by the way,” the guy – Blaine – says. He looks very tired indeed.
“Kurt,” Kurt answers.
“Kurt, do you know where to find the nearest supermarket?” Blaine asks desperately. It catches Kurt off guard but then he laughs.
“Oh wow, you’re really going through it.”
“You can tell?” Blaine sounds frazzled.
“Trust me, I probably was just like you only a week ago.”
“Oh, great. Good to know it gets better.”
“How about this? You finish your slice, and I will walk you to the biggest supermarket in the area,” Kurt answers. Blaine once again looks at him as Kurt’s been sent from above to assist him. He must be really out of it.
“Yes, yes, thank you.”

The Maxi Mercator is literally across the street and Blaine laughs when he realises.
“I was so close!”
“Yes you were, although you probably were looking for the Mercator ten minutes that way,” Kurt says and he points in the right direction. That Mercator is easy to recognise. This Maxi one is basically underground.
Kurt didn’t have ‘go grocery shopping with a stranger’ on his to-do list, but here he is. The pizza definitely rejuvenated Blaine, so he is less frazzled and more put together.
“So, are you also a student?” Kurt asks when they’re at the vegetable area.
Blaine shakes his head.
“No, I am here for my dad’s company. You know, popping some corks with fancy respected business people and shaking hands while wearing nice suits.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, we’re expanding and I need to oversee the expansion.”
Kurt whistles.
“That is a big responsibility.”
Blaine shrugs and he reaches for some potatoes.
“It’s a job,” he says flatly and Kurt raises an eyebrow.
But Blaine didn’t see it. Instead he asks about Kurt.
“A student, you said?” he asks.
Kurt nods.
“Yes, I am here on an exchange. I follow classes at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television of the University of Ljubljana. I’ll go back to New York in the summer.”
“And you came all the way here? Alone?” Blaine sounds impressed.
Kurt nods proudly.
Now it’s Blaine’s turn to let out an impressed whistle.
Blaine finishes his groceries and Kurt assumes that’s the end of whatever wack adventure they have, but once they’re outside Blaine turns to Kurt and asks:
“I hope it’s not too much, but are you willing to give me some sort of tour of the city? I really have no idea where to start.”
“Oh-”
“It’s okay if you’re busy!” Blaine quickly adds, “You must be buried in coursework. Never mind, forget I said-”
“It’s fine!” Kurt says. Classes start next week. Like many other students, Kurt moved to Ljubljana before the semester starts in order to also get to know the city and country.
“I will drop this off at my place,” Blaine nods towards the two bags of groceries, “But we can meet at that park again?”
“Park Zvezda, at Kongresni trg,” Kurt says, “Sounds like a plan.”

Anyway, as I said in the first chapter, I am definitely putting some spots that I love in the fic, and the pizza place was *chef’s kiss*. I actually didn’t know the name up until 5 minutes ago, when I looked it up on Google Maps for these notes, since I just know it as “the pizza place at Kongresni trg”, but it is the take-away part of Ljubljanski dvor. Kongresni trg is also a place that I love. I also called it “the place to be” in my Ljubljana travel blog. Ahhh, good times.
And the sparrows were definitely a thing, although I slightly exaggerated it for the purpose of the fic. This didn’t happen like this all the time, but it did happen once. My Belgian roommate (let’s call her C in case I will mention her more often) and I went there on her first (or second?) day in the city and the sparrows couldn’t let go. One even tried to drag an entire piece from the paper plates. A lot of people were amused by it, even us. Blaine, on the other hand, really needs his pizza so good thing Kurt stepped up.
Lastly (woah, I didn’t plan on having a long end note), I am definitely taking some liberties with the whole business and study thing here. I have zero (0) knowledge about business and I did study at UoL, but at a different faculty. Kurt’s faculty actually requires a B2 Slovene level, but in this fic... let’s not.

It's not for me but I understand how Mpreg came to be. Fanfiction is dominated by mlm and sometimes people want to explore different ideas with those characters. I'm very unlikely to read a fic with it in but it's not a total squick. (You can tell what era of the internet I grew up in)

Depends on the era but totally down for some historical AU. I like secrecy as a trope but struggle with huge heapings of homophobia so it's always a mixed bag but like I would live for a Grease inspired klaine AU tbh (I'm sure this exists somewhere)

Inspiration Weekend - tag game
Thanks to @wordsofhoneydew for the tag!
I've only done an moodboard/inspiration board for one of my stories before, so this was an interesting exercise to see what I could come up with for a couple of WIP/story ideas in my head.
So I made two moodboards.
the 1st: Is for a RWRB historical fic idea that I've been toying around with since I read the book/watched the movie: spanning two countries and a heck of a lot of time. - starting during the War for Independence in Mexico and ending up in either Regency or Victorian England. I've got a few chapters outlined, but nothing written yet for this.
the 2nd moodboard is for my Klaine fantasy AU fic: Sanctuary ( which has not been abandoned, just shelved for the time being till I finish up with my current works)

Scarves & Coffee Survey Results
Thank you very much to everyone that filled out the survey from last month! I truly appreciate each and every one of you sharing your thoughts on the site.
I wanted to go over most of the responses (some were redundant/already discussed) and respond to those publicly so you all know what's going on and what the future has in store for S&C (and maybe even field some more insight). Responses are under the cut:
Are there any changes or updates you would like to see to current features on Scarves & Coffee?
Currently the "Categories" available seem really limited - while posting things I noticed there were no options for historical, alternate meeting, canon compliant, or other common tropes. Also, the way of selecting categories and characters using the ctrl key is a little clunky and unintuitive.
All of the current categories on the site were directly ported from the original site and haven't really been updated since 2011. If you have any categories you would like to see added, please send in an Ask or reply below. (Though the categories may be split into major categories and tags in the future.) But yes, the form requiring the ctrl key to select multiple categories/characters is super annoying, adding that to the list.
Yes! I would like to see all the fics posted by kudos or most read not only the first ten!
You can sort the entire library by kudos/most read using the Browse Library page. Just click what you want to sort by in the search menu and then press "Search." You don't have to have anything in the Search box to sort/filter entries. The Top Tens page is just a page that was on the original site that showcases the top ten in each category for fun.
Some sort of RSS feed so I can track new stuff posted to the site without having to check ever couple days. The site is currently low traffic so I stopped visiting regularly.
Noted. Email notifications should be coming back soon as well.
What features would you like to see added to Scarves & Coffee? (this can be anything! feel free to request as much as you want, from anything as small as font size buttons on entries to something as ambitious as an archive gallery or forum)
- a similar thing to the *private* bookmark option on ao3 - If it is not already there, a function to DM a writer instead of having to leave a review or manually searching them out on tumblr. - A part of the website specifically designated for anyone to post prompts instead of fics, which works in the same way with the categories etc. A bit like a crossover between a forum and a fic archive. Writers could just browse through lists of prompts and pick whatever tickles their fancy. - Again, if not already present, a dark mode for reading at night, because let's be real here.. Who ever put away a book just because it was bedtime, when they were enjoying themselves?
Private bookmarks have been added to the to-do list. You can DM any user on the site by going to their profile page and clicking the "Message" link in the left sidebar (at the top on mobile). A prompts system is already on the to-do list, but I like the way it's described here. A dark mode for the text section of stories has already been implemented, but a full-site dark mode is on the to-do list.
back dating uploads
I know AO3 allows backdating entries, but I'm not 100% sure if it's a great idea for various reasons. But if many of you are interested in having that ability, I may implement it. If anyone else has an opinion on this, I'd love to hear about it below/in Asks.
Forums or more opportunities for user interactions would be great - I think making it more of a social space for users to post questions/ideas/thoughts about klaine, recommend or discuss fics, and have conversations about related topics would set the site apart from other options for posting fic.
Yes, I agree! I would love to have more interaction options on the site. I do plan on adding in a forum, maybe even a chat and journal posting system as well. These might be a ways away, but they are on the list, I promise.
I would like found the stories which are labelled with the special attention because they are most relevant and people liked these stories so much. A special section.
I think you're referring to some kind of Featured section, which the original S&C did have. I am open to adding that back in, I even have the log of what was originally featured. It has been added to the list.
I would like you to add the options You can save authors or books and also add the option for an author to follow a story abandoned many years ago.
We currently have the option to track/bookmark/give kudos to stories and track authors. But, favoriting for stories and adding them to Lists is on the to-do list.
What do you think would draw more active authors to add to the archive?
- Active partnership/collaboration with things like prompt bangs, the Lima Bean and the Klaine CC library for maximum exposure. - The prompt archive I mentioned previously.
I'm open to working with other Klaine fandom groups and events. I do have a really exciting feature planned that would allow events to be hosted on the site. I can't wait to share it with you all :)
knowing it is up and not going away
I hear you. I'm sure the site going down for over a year damaged some trust in the validity and longevity of separate site archives. However, rest assured that I plan on keeping this site alive as long as I'm here, and have taken measures to ensure that it'll never get lost again. In the event that things do go south (extremely unlikely at this point), the archive will be handed over to AO3's Open Doors project for preservation.
It needs to have elements that make it, in some way or another, equally or more attractive to post on than AO3. Somehow leaning into the Klaine-centric nature of it, or offering user interaction features that don't exist on AO3, might make it a better place to engage with readers about Klaine fic.
I agree. I think the upcoming interaction features I have planned will help with this.
Implementing the Cloudflare security like ff.net. I HATE that I have to authenticate regularly and it often fails.
I'm not sure what you're referring to regarding having to authenticate, and you didn't leave a contact account on the survey so I can't ask you directly about your experience. But I've personally never had an issue with authentication on the site on PC or mobile. The SSL certificate is valid and should show the Secure lock on browsers. If anyone has any more information on this issue or recently experienced anything similar, I'd love to hear about it below, in an Ask, or by message.
As a reader, what would draw you to or prevent you from using Scarves & Coffee?
Tag searching and filtering. The more specific the better, but it should still search for things if you misspell them or if you word your search differently than the popular tag. (Like on ao3)
Yes! I have adding a section for tags on my to-do list that would include blacklisting. However, I can't promise that it would work quite like on AO3, simply because S&C doesn't have a giant team of tag wranglers like AO3 does that allows it to have such a dynamic tagging system. But I'll try to make it as usable as possible.
I can’t find a story that I want to read in that moment easily. It’s difficult sorting stories.
I'm not really sure how to make it more straightforward besides adding a tagging system. There's the Categories page for specific categories and all of the filters on the browsing page. If you or anyone else has specific suggestions or ideas to improve finding stories, let me know.
How would you feel about Scarves & Coffee expanding to include entries from its former sister site, Sebklaine.net? Should they remain separate archives?
The majority has spoken! Sebklaine and S&C will remain separate archives, but....
Would you be open to Scarves & Coffee being part of a network of separate archives, such that you could use the same account to access each individual archive? Why or why not?

I think this is a good compromise - ultimately I feel that they should remain separate, because I think a lot of users strongly feel that they want to see content from certain ships and not others. But having them be closely-connected sister sites in some fashion sounds like a great idea.
