(Make believe question this week because i haven't done one of these in a minute) You're going on a journey.

What kind of journey is it? Are you going on a mission? A holiday? Back home?

How are you getting there? Train, car, flying cleaning appliance?

What's the journey like? What do you see on your way there? Do you meet someone interesting?

I think a lot of people answered this with a realistic vacation, so I guess I'll do the same

I went to England several years ago, still have nostalgia for it, have places I wanted to go but couldn't, and literally dream about going back

I think the last dream I had about it was me landing at the airport and realizing I'd left all my meds in Canada, so I was panicking and trying to get some from a pharmacy to last me until I got back... which is realistic because I did forget to pick up my Ritalin from my normal pharmacy before leaving for Toronto when I went in real life, so I had to get a new prescription at a walk-in clinic (since they can't transfer prescriptions for controlled substances) and fill it at a Shoppers in a mall somewhere the day before my flight out to London. I was fairly new to taking Ritalin at that point, so I didn't know how I would react to suddenly going off after being on it for a few months and didn't want to risk spending my vacation in withdrawal.

The people I stayed with (my mom's friend from high school and his wife and kids) always talk to me with the idea that I'll go see them again, so they ask me who I'll bring next time (I went alone before) and they suggest things like "If you were staying longer than 2 weeks, we could take a plane up and spend a weekend in Scotland" or "We're thinking about getting a caravan, which would mean you and your mum could have a private space when you come back". I would probably take my mom next time, since it's her friends, and hopefully we could do a lil trip out to Scotland at some point.

My friends have moved since I went over, so it would be fun to see the new house, the new town :)

One of the places I wanted to visit but technically didn't was Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium. Lady Dinah's is the cat café in London and I didn't think ahead about it, so I found out when I was actually in England that you need to make a reservation, and they were booking a month in advance when I was only there for 13 days. There's still a lobby where you can purchase food and drink or buy a souvenir, and you can drop in to see if they've had cancelations; there were no cancelations when I went, but I still got a chai latte and they used a cat stencil for the cinnamon on top :3 I think Dan and Phil may have filmed a video there

I'd also wanna go to Marsden, which is where they filmed one of my favourite TV shows, In The Flesh. Don't know what I would do, maybe just have a wander and look around, see how many locations from the show I can spot. I didn't do this last time because Marsden is in the north and my friends were in the south, so it's a rather long trip.

And I did go to Brighton before, but I didn't realise until a couple years later that that's where the gays go to live?? So I'd wanna go back to Brighton and do something related to LGBT

Would I meet interesting people?? Probably, since I did the last time. I remember a guy on a train who said he liked my TARDIS bag, so our conversation went:

"Thanks, my cousin got it for my in the States!"

"At San Diego ComiCon???"

"No, at a Hot Topic..."

"Oh ☹"

"... in Michigan"

"Oh ☹☹☹"

There was also the guy I met at Stone Henge but my brain was in the mood to mostly just talk with my friends that day, so when the guy noticed I was being quiet, he asked "Oh, sorry, do you speak English or do you speak Chinese?" ... English is my first language and I am as white as they come. Also, sometimes I remember the lady at Tesco who kept dropping and therefore breaking jars of pickles; didn't actually meet her, but I will always remember you, Pickle Lady.

-> Husband Kuroo is the best for reals, though. He’s able to take care of you and always listens to your problems, so he’s also your best friend and your support system. Whatever you wanna do, he’s there ready to support. If you’ve had a bad day, he’s there as your pillar. It’s so sweet.

-> He’s also the best when it comes to pleasure 😎 he’s always making sure you’re satisfied every time. He always, always puts your pleasure before his and if you don’t feel like it, he doesn’t complain. -> When the baby does come, oh man is he ready. Y’all got a nursery all set up at home (courtesy of Kenma, Bokuto, and Akaashi). Kuroo is beside you, holding your hand, telling you all these funny stories of him back at school to get your mind at ease. You’re squeezing his hand and apologizing but he laughs because he’s dealt with worse pain than his wife squeezing his hand. I’m not talking about any complications here, since this is all fluff. The baby is born! The screams are ear-ringing but they are proof the child is healthy.

-> After that it’s Chaos™️. Kidding, it’s actually pretty easy. You are dealing with the baby most of the time since Kuroo’s at work, but he will gladly come home and spend time with the child while you rest. He has baby milk / formula ready to go, nice and warm. He knows how to change a diaper with his eyes closed, he reads the child bedtime stories and makes funny voices.

-> When the kid goes to school, Kuroo is more excited than the kid. First off, mini-Kuroo is making friends! He’s into volleyball! He’s as smart as his daddy! Kuroo is always helping his son with homework and loves to play with him, similar in a way his father would have with him. Side note: Nekomata visits. He’s the grandpa. This kid is never going to feel unloved and Kuroo is gonna be there right next to him if he ever does.

Tendō — 1 son, 1 daughter

-> Oh my god, can we talk about how y’all’s marriage would go? Embodiment of chaos as each Shiratorizawa member is in attendance. Tendō made his own cake. Actually, he made all the food. Ushijima and him made the decorations. You and Semi are the only sane ones at the wedding. Tendō tried to wear the dress.

-> Moving on, he’s another top tier husband. He makes delicious treats for you all the time (that’s how he confessed!) and you always praise him. He also always invites his friends over (usually only Semi and Ushijima show up, but that’s okay). Eventually, you both move to France so Tendō can become a chocolatier.

-> In France, the country of love and beauty, that’s where the test of your love begins. It’s a new world, a new path of life, and you’re traveling it together. Tendō risked his dreams to move to Europe, you following him with your love and support. He becomes a wonderful chocolatier and the test is a success. Short and sweet, like his treats!

-> Country, City, and Language of Love is France, Paris. Tendō uses this a way to “try new things” in the bedroom. Why did he become a chocolatier? So he could drizzle his own chocolate on you and eat his candy off your body. He also decides that “speaking French between your legs” can mean cunnilingus or actually speaking French. Guess which one he’s gonna do.

-> Tendō is a family man. He grew up as an only child so he really wants kids and he wants them to grow up better than he did. He doesn’t want them to be bullied or feel outcasted, so he’s worried but wants to try. He won’t force you, but he does want them. If you don’t, it could cause a rift in the relationship.

It’s the “wanna know what’s cuter than one baby? TWO BABIES!” post. Since there are 2 little boogers, you’re both busy taking care of them.

-> He also gets them interested in volleyball. He has Ushijima come over every now and then (the man has enough money) to teach his kids volleyball and the little girl is a spitting image of him, with his guessing talent and everything. The boy doesn’t like it as much as his sister, but he enjoys playing it.

-> Tendō would make a great father, and he would definitely want more than one kid. He doesn’t want his child/ren to be lonely and he never wants his child/ren to be bullied like he was. Ever.

Shirabu — 1 daughter

-> I feel like this man right here is an okay husband and an okay father, but he tries. He’s not perfect like Kuroo, he’s not fun and wild like Tendō, but he tries and he is also a smart cookie, but petty. It’s okay

-> Your marriage to him is one of arguments, but not serious arguments, you feel me? Like roasting each other. You gotta have thick skin to be with him, you really do. He wouldn’t even have bothered proposing if you were too sensitive. So, him as a husband is generally him being insulting and not meaning it while you roast him right back. It makes him love you more.

-> He’s also busy being a doctor (cha-ching!) so you aren’t always spending time with him. It actually works in both of yours interests because I don’t think you can handle being around him for so long. He doesn’t think he can handle being around you for so long because he’s worried his sharp tongue will get him in trouble, too. Since he’s a doctor, he can also have random calls in, so sexy times are spontaneous.

-> Spontaneous, but passionate. He always makes sure to make you orgasm on his fingers. He refuses to stick his dick in any hole of your body until you’ve reached your peak first, it’s a structure. -> He’s there through your pregnancy, but he’s not perfect. He still has to work and he’s still exhausted when he comes back home. When you’re craving or being sensitive, he’s making fun of you. Waterworks makes him stop for that day, but he’ll never stop completely. Refuses to do so.

-> He makes sure you get the best care, however. Top of the line doctors, asks for their credentials and accomplishments, any issues with their personal life that could effect their work— you have to stop him before you guys get kicked out. When the water breaks? Oh man, he has the entire hospital staff alert and ready to deliver your baby or there will be hell.

-> He’s definitely in the room, probably making sure the doctors know what they’re doing. He also calls Ushijima first after the baby is born. Parents? No, Wakatoshi. He is very proud to be a father, though, and happy you let him be one.

-> He’s dealt with two younger brothers, so he thinks he can deal with his daughter. No, he cannot. He is not cut out for small crying babies, often leaving that to you. He also cannot simply deal with the attitudes of the small girl as she ages. He’s aging faster than he should.

-> One thing he is good at: school. He is the best at helping his little girl out because he knows all this, but he can teach it to her in a way she understands. She’s probably a lot like him lol kind of petty, kind of a brat, really smart, but really needs friends. Your job is to help her make friends, of course, but Shirabu teaches her to be smart.

-> All in all, he’s not a terrible husband nor father, but he isn’t perfect. He’s learning and he usually sticks to what he knows, but he is there to the end. Just a family of tough cookies.

My take on the pending divorce between the Sens and the Sens Foundation

When Ottawa Sun columnist Rick Gibbons asked me this morning for my take on the pending divorce between the Sens and the Sens Foundation… well, this is what I wrote back:

I was shocked when I found out what was going on, Rick. The Sens are abandoning Rogers House, Rink of Dreams and 25+ years of good works? After I heard the news, I found it hard to concentrate the rest of the afternoon ☹ It would be like me divorcing my 5-kids, which I’d NEVER do.

I did a piece on Sam Laprade’s 1310 radio show last week. To the best of my recollection, we created the Foundation in 1992/93 with help from my sister Brenda Firestone and Sens attorney Jean-Antoine de Lotbinière (de Lobe) Panet, who was then at https://perlaw.ca/ and later became Justice Panet. He has since passed away. He was a great man. I’d have to look at the original corporate documents to understand how this can be happening. De Lobe was smart—he would have anticipated every eventuality, I am sure of it, except maybe this one.

The Foundation like the original Sens junior fan club (now Sparty’s Cub Club) are, to me, essential building blocks for the team. They help build a bridge of trust between the hockey team and the community.

The inspiration for the Sens Foundation came from what I learned in conversations with Vancouver owners, Frank Griffiths and his son, Arthur, a generation ago about what the Canucks did with their foundation, which, I believe, was one of the first in the NHL.

One of the young fans I follow on twitter (a really smart guy, Graeme Nichols, https://twitter.com/6thSens) suggested renaming the foundation after Alfie (former Sens captain Daniel Alfredsson), if he’d agree. I think this could have legs.

Lastly, to me, this report appears to be bogus: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/ottawa-sens-foundation-charity-dollars-1.4887326. Former Sens president Cyril Leeder told me a few years ago that the actual long-term average for fundraising efficiency was around 78% or 79% over a 25+ year period. Our original goal was to be 80% efficient in terms of getting $$$ out the door for good works.

ps asking the foundation to respond to an RFP to continue their relationship with the team after July 31st, 2020 is like asking your wife (husband or life partner/significant other) to reapply to remain in the marriage. Not bloody likely to go over too well… or, as the Brits say, “Barking madness,” IMHO.
