as much as i love simple domesticity between characters and expressions of normal and healthy romantic relationships in the media the drama queen inside of me loves twisted tropes full of confusion and angst and slowburn and that's particularly the reason why i have a soft spot for hirano to kagiura even though sasaki to miyano has a lot of chapters, well written characters and seasoned developments with a genuine and healthy depiction of not only gay relationships but also romantic relationships as a whole, i have always compared the dynamics sasaki and miyano shared versus the ones shared by hirano and kagiura and the biggest differences are the circumstances all the characters find themselves in, sasaki is inherently very insecure as a character, it might be a result of his past behaviours that he exhibited towards people especially his sister and his disinterest in life in general but that doesn't stop him from being an extremely self aware person who understands how certain traits that he owns can be possibly hurtful for anyone specifically the person he is in love with, miyano has a different set of challenges mostly with how he carries himself and his femininity which has mostly been something he isn't very proud of but when it comes to romantic relationships both sasaki and miyano are rather receptive and aware of their drives and motivations, both of them know what they expect from eachother and that just makes their approach towards romance healthier, HIRANO AND KAGIURA ON THE OTHER HAND MY GOD

now a lot of you might argue that well kagiura technically is romantically aware and he has seen and observed a healthy romantic relationship shared by his parents but here's why i think it went wrong, kagiura never completely understood what he as a person wanted romantically, he just simply observed his parent's relationship and ended up settling with the fact that this is what he wants in a relationship, without considering the fact that the relationship his parents share and the one he will have will be different because at the end of the day they are different people with different motivations and perspectives on love, every relationship is different because it's the people who make a relationship healthy, good or bad and not the hyper real standards which are based on observations of a relationship which are not experienced by ourselves personally, hirano on the other hand simply has never been around or in love, he synonymously describes love the way one would describe confusion, when he sees sasaki being in love with miyano to an extent that he could patiently wait for him till miyano is comfortable even when it aches him to the extent where he has to breakdown with sets of sweat when he is just simply around miyano confuses him, kagiura falling for him just because he wants to be a responsible senpai towards him confuses him, but what else confuses him is the fact how he can't treat kagiura normally, we are often shown parallels of his relationship with his own senpai and his friends from class even miyano to compare how he actually does treat kagiura differently, and even though he understands that difference he doesn't find it problematic and actually putting a stop to that behaviour makes him feel uneasy, in the recent extra 16.5, we see how he is distressed and unhappy by the fact that kagiura doesn't want him waking him up anymore, the reason is simply the fact that hirano is a person who feels good about himself when others let him take responsibility, he loves the fact that there are people who think that he is responsible enough for them to rely on him, especially the ones he cares about, and that ultimately creates a not so very conventional idea of a romantic relationship for him and kagiura in the future, both of them hold different standards of romance and instead of walking on the same page the way sasaki and miyano do they often take detours, the reason simply being the lack of confidence they own, sasaki and miyano do understand love but both kagiura and hirano are simply fucked when it comes to love, so whatever they do know about love, whether that's pain or desire or even obsession is all what they have learned because of eachother and that's inherently the most romantic thing to ever exist, it's like saying "all i know about love is because i love you".

the point that i'm trying to make is we can't predict how their relationship might turn out to be because as of now in the story their characters haven't even realized what they want from eachother except the fact that they want to be together, which is honestly enough lol but i would love to see more developments because the foundation of their characters and the story is so interesting that it might turn out even more unconventionally beautiful if compared to sasaki and miyano and who doesn't like a good bl huh? OKAY BYE ILL STOP FOR NOW
