Okay real talk the way rottmnt’s queercoding works makes me so emotional like we have a gay main character where it’s never said that he’s gay, and there’s never any quote-unquote “proof” because romance and relationships aren’t the focus, he’s just allowed to be confident and fruity and gay and no one ever mentions it. It’s not weird, or noteworthy, this is just a gay teenager who’s allowed to be himself, and the reason he is so visible in his queerness is because he never had to hide it. He’s got the confidence of a queen because, why wouldn’t he? There’s no romantic relationships or even hints of attraction in regards to any of the main cast, but he’s still queer, because queer isn’t just as simple as attraction, it’s a community, it’s subculture, it’s a second language in much the same way he picked up snippets of spanish from Nuyorican neighborhoods. We almost never get to see characters with all the other aspects of being queer without any romantic subplots attached, a queer character that’s allowed to just. Be. And even rarer is a young gay character with all those traits, safe to be comfortable with their own identity, with all the habits and codes of someone confident in who they are and actively immersed in the subcultures.

And also Warren and Hypno are roommates.

Imagine Warren and Hypno visiting that one spa in the Hidden City that only lets you in if you have great hair, and for once Warren actually gets noticed/praised instead of ignored thanks to his pompadour... buuut then Hypno gets turned away because his hair isn’t fabulous enough.

And Warren just goes OFF like “Oh you did NOT just reject my roomie! We didn’t want to visit your STUPID SPA anyway! Sure, his hair may not be as beautiful or voluminous as mine, but it’s still BETTER THAN YOURS, loser!”, and he just storms off.

Hypno thanks Warren for standing up for him while also telling him that if he wants to, he can visit the spa on his own without him, not wanting to hold him back. Warren refuses, and the two treat themselves to some relaxing at-home spa treatments and have a nice time bonding together ^v^
