Fanon Remus is a mary sue who suffers and pines after cruel hottie Sirius and then Sirius comes to his senses and runs after his moony, begging for scraps of his attention and ofc James is completely ignored by sirius or they fight over poor hurting remus lmao their Fanon is what is so OOC. I think they self insert into Remus so they can catch the popular Hot bad boy who they can "cure of his bad ways"

hello anon 💜 i see we have awoken to choose violence today (nice) so i’m putting this under a cut so remus fans can skip this one.

yeah i’ve seen that too and i always have to scroll past while making faces because,,,im not here to start shit lol but oh god it’s such an annoying position. like ok, i’ve called canonical behaviours ooc too (cough harry in CC cough) and it’s entirely possible i was wrong, but the remus thing is just. wilfully ignoring everything we know about him? (again: caveat here is if you don’t care about canon, then go for it w/o trying to do critical canon analyses. no harm, no foul)

but here’s the thing, right? remus as we know him in canon is a serial manipulator, liar, gaslighter, and coward. like, this has been shown multiple times. i’m not making it up. in my mind, his actions in dh were absolutely not ooc. they just followed the pattern that had already been established so far. and i feel like so much of his characterisation comes from not wanting to engage with that kind of darkness (because even acknowledging it means your dynamic is changed). i’ve read a few excellent fandom analysis posts on here, actually, about how characterisation of wolfstar has changed over the years (decades?) as the average readership/writer ship has gone from middle aged to younger. apparently, it used to be much more dysfunctional and grittier earlier, dealing with the darkness on both sides. it was interesting. but anyway, yeah, i see it happen with regulus/jegulus too sometimes (even if i can’t comment on it since i’ve barely interacted with that content) where you deliberately turn a blind eye to things because if remus is a coward or bad at relationships, then u can’t actually write that fluffy AU u want. which…isn’t fun. because fanfic is about writing all the fluffy AUs in the world ykno?

but what that’s ended up doing is completely transforming his character into someone barely recognisable to those who aren’t in that particular niche (although,,,it’s not exactly niche is it?) and just. idk. i’m rambling now lol but it just really frustrates me because i cannot escape it. and it always treats sirius so badly. remus is just the most sympathetically written character, even when he’s being an absolute asshole, and sirius can’t breathe without being whacked over the head with it. i hate how much he’s scapegoated, honestly. like, i think i’d be fine with the mary sue-fication of remus if sirius wasn’t so defanged in the process but alas, it isn’t to be.

also that’s such an interesting point because i’ve often thought the same about remus being a self insert tbh. i was talking to someone and they said something along the lines of ‘james & sirius as the hot, rich, privileged characters aren’t relatable as much as remus, who’s poor & tortured & misunderstood, so u have people flocking to the latter’ and that combined with the ‘i can fix him’ energy just,,,really shines through sometimes lol. not so much on tumblr (where i barely interact) but i’ve seen it so much in the mwpp fandom on twitter, and a bit on tiktok. it’s very projection-heavy imo (which like, not a judgement. i’m clearly a projection heavy writer too)

#remus lupin critical #we’ve been getting a lot of anti remus/wolfstar asks lately #which. not complaining. i’m just wondering what triggers it #bc sometimes i go weeks without anything like it and sometimes i wake up to so many of these in my inbox #also the ignoring certain aspect thing: again not necessarily a judgement bc i do the same with james and sirius imo #like i definitely sanitise them i think #i guess it’s just that line between hc and canon that bothers me #and not even bc i think canon is particularly untouchable but because i wanna avoid certain readings and this is the most effective way #like i’ll often seek out ooc snape for example bc him in canon annoys me #or i’ll skip past certain fics if they mention someone i like is ooc in certain ways #it’s just a useful descriptive category that’s been completely annihilated in r/s spaces #idk. does that make sense?#and i’m not saying that the grittier dysfunctional r/s is inherently better mind #i don’t think i’d have read that just bc i’m personally not into those dynamics #it was just an interesting look into how things have changed and why #yeah there’s no neatly wrapped answer here. we’re all just bitching in one corner of the room lmao #pen’s asks

Marijon Week 2021 Day One Prompt: Blue Eyes||Identity Reveal

at least i didn’t name myself after a restaurant @nutella(she_they)

WHEN WAS SOMEONE GOING TO TELL ME THAT SUPERBOY AND LADYBUG COULD SING- [video attached]

[The Video starts shakily, pointing at a 45 degree angle to Superboy 2.0. He is hovering near the edge of the roof and softly strumming a ukulele, seemingly lost in thought. The video zooms in and he begins to hum the intro to Ocean Eyes by Billie Eilish. He pauses, clears his throat, and begins in a beautiful tenor.

“I’ve been watching you, for some time. Can’t stop starin’ at those ocean eyes.” He flies backwards and sits on the edge of the roof, smiling.

“Burning cities and napalm skies,” a new voice continues. Superboy stops playing the ukulele and looks up, eyes wide. The cameraman gasps and pans to the right to find Ladybug. You can tell by her windswept hair and the way she is holding her yo-yo that she just swung onto the rooftop. “Fifteen flares inside those ocean eyes, your ocean eyes.” The camera follows her as she walks over to pull Superboy into a standing position. Smiling, the heroine continues in her surprisingly clear voice.

“No fair,” she nudges him. “You really know how to make me cry,”

Superboy snaps out of his stupor and joins her. “When you give me those ocean eyes, I’m scared. I’ve never fallen from quite this high falling into your ocean eyes, those ocean eyes.”

The song continues with the two of them dueting and harmonizing beautifly, crescendoing when appropriate and quieting down at the more serious parts. At some point, Ladybug grabs Superboy by the hand and pulls him to the center of the rooftop where she begins to dance. As the song comes to an end, they slow down considerably and their faces begin to drift closer. As soon as the last note leaves their lips, Superboy darts forward and captures her lips with his.

A whoop is heard from behind the camera, followed by an “Oh, shit!” when the superheroes break apart and look at the camera man. The camera shakes and the video ends.]

uhhh kenny isn’t GREAT, i know that that varies from person to person but i personally don’t think he’s a good dude. back when he first won the iwgp heavyweight championship off of kazu, he had an interview where he said that the “local” (japanese) talent were complacent and lazy and the gaijin wrestlers (the only ones he mentioned being white, ofc) were just hungrier and wanted it more and people like naito and evil were very rightfully pissed off. (also kazu and misu had a match like a week later in the middle of a monsoon while kenneth was off who KNOWS where so like #Whatever)

he also booked a convicted sex offender/p*do for an event? on the preshow? i think he also used his ring and then claimed he didn’t know abt the dude when he’d associated with him before and also when people were pissed about it he responded VERY sanctimoniously bemoaning how cruel people were to judge him for this lmao. (the dude’s name is chasyn rance if you wanna...go verify stuff i really dont wanna delve into. all that on here its a sensitive topic) he’s also best buds with michael elgin whos an abuser so thats neat

also like a few weeks ago tanahashi criticized kenneth on a podcast and said that his matches were all flash and no substance and you could just as easily skip to the last five minutes because thats where ALL the story is, which, i mean, disclaimer i agree with! kenneth heard this and freaked OUT, which is WEIRD because tana has a history of giving his coworkers constructive criticism and advice bc he’s a veteran and its like he’s trying to help people improve and not be complacent??? weird! anyway kenneth started insulting everything from tana’s hair to his wrestling and its just generally REALLY poor form and behavior

idk it varies depending on who you ask and im not...the best memory? sammy hiromutakahashl and ava purplesandgolds both do INCREDIBLY valid work pointing and laughing at kenny and if you delve into their archives you could probably find more in-depth and like, credible criticism of him? but tldr he can eat a pile of dirty socks

a wrestler named asuka has wrestled for ddtpro to boot, but she mainly works in wave, and she’s trans! you can find an interview she did with lgbter over here! also she and daisuke sasaki had a very cute romance arc for a bit it was excellent

can you believe it’s been 15 days since jonghyun’s death?

15 days since every kpop fan grieved after that talented, amazing man. 15 days since everyone (finally) realized how important mental health is and how deeply it can affect people’s lives and their perception of life. 15 days since people assured jonghyun that he “did well” and should now rest peacefully. 15 days since people wrote messages to their idols, telling them that they should not overwork themselves, they should take some rest, take care of their health and that they (the fans) are there for them and will support them no matter what.

and then it quickly got too far. people began assuming their idol’s mental health, lists began spreading around with names of idols that are (supposedly or not) suffering from depression. which is: wrong. you have no right to assume someone’s condition because you do not know what this person is going through. and it is not “making sure these people get extra love”. everyone needs love and support! and by naming people that need “special treatment” by the fans and companies ... it’s not doing much, it’s only making people sick with worry.

soon after, people forgot about jonghyun’s death. maybe not forgot, but moved on (which is of course good, good for yall that you paid your respects and grieved for the time that you needed to process this). but as people kept saying that his death changed the kpop community and “ended fanwars” ... they were very wrong. because soon after, people had seunghyun in their teeth, saying how his marihuana abuse and medication abuse that resulted in him attempting to take his life in june this year mean nothing. “he did it because he’s a cr*ckhead who couldn’t deal with consequences of his actions”. it’s like they literally quoted loser, bigbang’s song (that’s personally my favourite): “im a loser, a loner, a coward who pretends to be tough”. it made me so angry because they literally said he deserved to die and how he wouldn’t even be missed. people deal with their illnesses differently and suddenly he was judged for his coping methods.

then, of course, another annoying fan war began, as expected betweens armys and exo-ls. who lip syncs and who doesn’t which is such a stupid thing to argue about but at this point, i’m not even surprised anymore. and then yoongi began ending his lines with silence and “all live band” to prove that they don’t lip sync. okay. i agree that it’s an amazing thing, considering their dancing is phenomenal and it takes a lot of work. on the other hand, exo (and other sm groups) often perform with the singing already prerecorded or whatever way that is not completely live. okay! like exo-ls shouldn’t come after bts and accuse them of lip-syncing and bts has the right to prove everyone that they were falsely accused. but! there’s no need to bring down exo and treat them as they are nothing just because they don’t sing live. i would definitely love it if exo sang live more but at the same time: they have concerts. they sing live there. they show how they, in fact, can dance and sing at the same time. and having this stupid fight because of those 10 minutes on stage at those shit ass awards ... you really thrive on drama, you fucktards. shame on you.

and now. baekhyun. not even 15 days after jonghyun’s death someone with depression spoke to baekhyun about their mental health. i hope you all know that 15 days is nothing. it’s nothing for someone that knew the deceased. groups had to go on with their schedules and if you follow taeyeon on instagram you can see how much she’s struggling and how much she misses jonghyun. the sm family is still grieving and nobody expects to see taemin, kibum, jinki and minho any time soon because it’s understandable it’s going to take a while. and even though other artists have seemingly moved on and are showing their happy personas, they still have to process this. and this person that turned to baekhyun and mentioned her condition to him... she said he looked sad and distressed and he talked to her about her illness and personal life. he was caring. and he made her feel better, he wasn’t inconsiderate at all. very unfortunately, the audio that she uploaded on twitter was cut in a way that made the translator, who mistranslated his words, start a drama that even made it on the news. that’s disgusting. saying that “he doesn’t understand depression” is ugly when that’s not what happened. and then the person, the only person that was there, the person baekhyun actually spoke to, apologized. she apologized to anyone that might’ve been hurt by all this which is so so wrong. that was her happy moment because he made her feel better and now everyone made a huge deal out of it when nothing bad happened. and even baekhyun himself posted an apology that he didn’t have to! because he didn’t do anything wrong! and it makes me so sad when he says he will be more careful with his words now, like no! you’re doing great, you’re an amazing human being who consoled a fan and you showed great empathy! and now of course people blame the armys which idk, i don’t think is right because it was one person i guess buT!!! at the same time this needs to be acknowledged:

it is not uncommon for the whole fandom (of any group!) to try to bring down the group they don’t like and people often try to dehumanize and make idols and fans look bad and evil. it is not right. this behaviour is bad, the obsession to make your own group look like it’s above the others and everyone else is crap and it’s disgusting. everyone is working so so hard and they deserve to be loved and respected and appreciated for the work that they do. they don’t need the badmouthing just because you feel the need to bring everyone down in order for your group to be on this imaginary throne. i’m fully aware that every fanbase has some bad people in it and imo what the fanbase has to do in that moment is to distance themselves from that person. but people often try to use it to prove how this only shows that their group is superior to others or when hell breaks lose in other fanbases some people try to use that to prove how “they” are nothing like “them”. there are so many stupid dramas going on between people when they should really be focusing on themselves and loving the members of their fav group, instead of bashing others down. if you don’t like someone, don’t pay attention to them. as someone who’s constantly on twitter and sees everything, it’s really hard not to reply to these disgusting tweets. from any fanbase.

please, make sure the people you adore are loved, appreciated, respected, don’t take them or their hard work for granted but also don’t put them on a piedestal. they’re human beings just like us and they have good and bad days, happy days and sad days. and at the same time don’t hate on other people. i know this is hard, everyone badmouths someone sometimes but social medias such as twitter and tumblr and instagram and others are not a place to post this. everyone has a right to their own opinion but things like that being spread out in the open are bad because 1) people who disagree will defend their people and then shit goes south and 2) people can see this, idols can see it and i know their skin has to be thick because not everyone will love them but seeing stupid drama or even worse, false accusations will make them feel very bad (as seen in baekhyun’s case).

jonghyun spoke so much about how he felt hurt by people’s comments and opinions on him. he worked so hard to make sure people see him for who he is, he didn’t want to be judged or misunderstood. he talked about how to deal with sadness and he worked hard to beat his illness. he also spoke about ways to console a person who is depressed. and then he took his own life. and for what? for people to be shocked and then see them turn back to their nasty paths of slandering people, spreading false rumours about others and making fun of their mental illness? this is so sad.

in 2018 i wish for every person to be kinder. for people to be nicer to each other, more thoughtful, more supportive, more appreciative, more respectful. everyone, please, be a good person this year!

ok this was a draft from when Bon Appetit was going down the drain and i was extremely annoyed and bothered by how the discussion about it was being held in this all-women Slack group i’m in. it really mostly comprises of extremely rich white mid-20year olds who only used to shop at Reformation and only use Glossier/Golde/Milk Makeup/Kosas products. a lot of it probably wont make sense unless you kept up to date with what went on with BA, but two things that i want to note is that 1) i don’t like the me who calls people crazy and goes ??????? when others share wildly different opinions from me, even when i think those opinions are flat out wrong. it’s language that im trying to change bc i also do it when im even mildly annoyed at people, which is bad. that’s one reason why i didnt initially post this here bc i was abit ashamed. idk if thats right or wrong but ya. 2) i didnt share this earlier bc while i still stand by what i said about Gaby being an immigrant status i was and am afraid of being called out as insensitive or wrong. it would be nice to hear opinions about this, if anyone has any at all. but yes, it is very long and very passionate, please dont mind......

this is with regards to the BA drama and the Slack group i mentioned here awhile ago. the people there are so...????? not only is their cancel culture ugly but their flimsy explanations and lack of care for their words just makes everything that comes out of their mouth performative. there’s a whole thread with 150++ messages about the BA situation and i said i was sorely disappointed with Gaby’s willy nilly response to the initial Sohla uprising. for context, Gaby is Argentinian, is BA’s test kitchen manager as well as the oldest member of the BA universe. she posted a story saying: “Hey guys! I am not one for following what the heck is going on! You know me, I do my own thing! I cook and be happy! 💚🌈 💚🌈 💚🌈” while the BIPOC members of BA were risking their jobs by going public about the systemic racism within Conde Nast. the white members of BA had stood in solidarity(🤔) with the BIPOC members, and Gaby is the only one who chose to bow out of all of it. someone replied saying maybe its bc Gaby’s an immigrant, like their mom, who was afraid to get involved in politics of any sorts because doing so in her time meant death. please tell me if im being insensitive but i think thats a grossly biased biography to impose on someone else, esp w such a clearly tonedeaf “💚🌈💚🌈” response at a time like that. i replied that and said yknow what, maybe thats true, maybe its not, but Gaby couldve read the room and given a much more neutral response even if she didnt care about it. THEN someone else replied saying they agreed with the previous person - “[i think] people are being too harsh on her. She is of a different generation who perhaps doesn’t grasp the role of social media in this movement.
