How would you say Underswap Papyrus handles stressful situations? How would you say he handles stress?
That would depend a lot on the type of stress! Prior to his health issues, he and Blue were actually trained pretty thoroughly, and by nature he’s very skilled with magic and has a bit of a silver tongue, so in more sort of physical stress situations, he's very good at keeping his cool and doing his best to figure out his next step.
He’s got lightning fast reflexes and a mind almost as sharp, with a lot of collective knowledge about all sorts of things, so let's say he gets caught up in like, a hostage-bank robbery. He'd be quick to gauge how he could distract the assailants, who'd be most susceptible to engaging with him, risk factor, what he could use blue magic for, getting himself and the others out. Not to say he could do it all perfectly and entirely on his own, but he’s the type to immediately shift into "okay, what now" mode and tries to minimize the damage as efficiently as possible.
House fire? Natural disaster? Dangerous person with a weapon? He’s very good at diffusing or acting calmly in those situations.
Personal/mental stress? Absolutely terrible. Just complete garbage at dealing with internal stress, or normal life stressors. He gets drained so easily, and because of how hard he masks, all the mental routes he’s mapped out to get through the day with as little collateral damage as possible, if even the smallest thing goes wrong – he hurts a friends feelings, misses an important appointment, forgets an important date to his brother – he wracks himself over the coals for hours, possibly days, possibly weeks.
It's why Sans hated that Toriel asked him to be the judge. That is a ton of emotional responsibility for a guy who gets panic attacks over screwing up a phone call. Mostly Stretch deals through repression. But that's usually what brings on his depressive downswings, because it always catches up to him eventually.
It's a bit of a conundrum, because he actually is surprisingly good at handling a lot, but that doesn't mean it doesn't still have its effect on him. How well he learns to cope with age depends a lot on those around him, but especially after the resets stop and he gets lovingly bullied into therapy on the surface, he...does, eventually, start to get better and dealing with personal stress as well 👍

Saturn’s Tron AU
CLU: These are two of my top officers Dyson and Tesler. I painstakingly went through and reprogrammed their code to create Programs as close to perfection as I currently am capable of.They are ruthless and will effectively carry out any order I command. And if they ever step out of line I have numerous other repurposed and specially trained Programs ready to take their place.
Tron: These are my horrible beta’s Beck and Sam. I fished Beck out of the Sea of Simulation which he threw himself into in an escape attempt from The Occupation after impersonating me and he didn’t know how to work his parachute. Sam literally materialized out of the sky and was almost mauled to death by grid bugs last cycle. If anything happened to them I would de rezz everyone in The Grid and then myself.

Reading the "voices while transformed" ask.. Adri being able to replicate any sound is so good actually. Quoting Knife word for word in her voice when a plan she pushed goes wrong. Mocking, anyone really when they say something stupid or the obvious use case of luring someone. Very fuckin cool.
yeah you get it!!! He totally does that. He constantly answers phone calls in other peoples voices, especially if the caller is looking for someone specific and adri knows them (ESPECIALLY if theyre his pals) he will just pretend to be them. Often while in front of said friends even
But yeah the luring def happens, in any capacity, and again is not limited to voices. Mimicking cries for help to call someone over, or the sound of screeching tires and sirens to get someone to run, whispers in the dark to freak people out etc etc.

Charged in with a fourteen wheeler and killed the geth and then I was in a camper with my family#They were talking shit how I hadn’t seen shit and how I don’t know and stuff and then an old man chimed in to show proof#Anyways cut to me and my family searching around using the Dr/agon Age search feature function thing to fix our camper#So anyways somehow at this point I am the only one knowing about this viral infection and being openly terrified of it#So basically my grandmother and brother were with me and the lights started to flicker (that’s how you know someone nearby is infected)#I freak out and am locked into an apartment room with those two (I think my grandmother is the infected one)#Anyways time skip to the olympics(?!?) Sonic and Tails are there#Tails is infected and infects Sonic so Sonic kills them both so me and my now new group can escape#We go through the sewers loosing people as we go along#We end up in a good transplant place where everyone is infected but they all seem human?#I’m the only one left as I crawl through razors and beg that they don’t attack me#They all are confused and so I escape through the entrance and then I wake up#So anyways I likely had become infected myself and that’s why they all seemed so alive!! Was straight up Not Doing Well but then I met a cat and now I think I’m okay
#there was nothing specifically wrong with me. it’s just been one of those days#i woke up way too early for no reason and couldn’t get back to sleep and then my grandparents decided to read all the forms i’m bringing#to my job interview on monday (an application form basically) without asking me and ignored me trying to tell them ‘there’s no info about#the job in there’ and also straight up ‘please don’t read that. there’s no reason for you to read that’#i guess there’s no reason for me to be irked by it because everything in there is stuff they already know about me but like.. it struck me#as rude. and then they didn’t even put it back on the table where they found it?? they put it on a random chair#then i pretty much got ordered to tidy up#then my friend called me having an anxiety attack and i had to run over to her house to make sure the doors were locked (they were)#i also had to bang on every door and window to make sure neither the dog nor the baby had been left home alone by her mom#so now the neighbours probably think i was burgling the place. i had her on the phone so i was prepared to hand it over if anyone questioned#me but still. it can’t have looked great. at one point i was literally in the back garden yelling the kid’s name trying to prove a negative#anyway the kid and the dog weren’t in the house alone. so that’s good#but Then i went for a walk around the village (to help me emotionally deal with all of this) and i sat in the church garden for a bit#and a chunky black cat purred at me and came and sat on my lap. he had long claws so it did hurt a bit i won’t lie#i think next time i might bring an extra jacket so there can be a layer in between him and my thighs. he was very friendly though#i might also bring him a toy because i’m pretty sure he lives in the garden and i know at least one person feeds him but he probably doesn’t#have a ton of stuff to do. and i don’t want to bring more food because he really is Chonky#which i mean.. same but i don’t want to disrupt the balance of whatever dietary plan he may be on#anyway. i love cats#personal

#happiness diary#happiness diary: march 2024#beans (my cat) has been getting more cuddly lately#laet year when we got him he seemed like he wouldnt be a cuddly cat#given how he would basically attack us if we petted him for more than 2 seconds#he would just get to overstimulated so we think he wasnt used to getting pet#but now hes becoming a cuddle bug#he was rubbing himself against my arm for like 5 minutes while I was talking to my dad he left a line of grey fur on my jumper#and he like stepped on my chest to try and rub against my face#but I'm allergic so i had to stop him otherwise i would be very itchy#im just happy hes allowing us to give him love and that he is getting used to getting it#he wasn't abused in his last home but he was definitely neglected to a certain level#but hes becoming more happy and comfortable here#im still uncertain when he is that cuddly though cus ive still not got his tells down#so i cant tell of hes wanting to jump on me to get more cuddles or if hes wanting to tear my face off for not noticing hes had enough#cus they look very similar#and his tail is pretty active all the time so thats not a good indicator either#hes like a dog#anyway gonna sleep night

Nick was attacked again by the same brazilian fila as before... istead of breaking the chain he sliped out of it this time
Thankfully his owner was there so she managed to grab him eventually (ironically she was apologizing for last time)
Nick is fine he's got a small cut over his eye but otherwise he's good
I know it was a bad idea but I wasn't thinking and I jumpt on thw ground between them trying to shield Nick with my own body
Nick did accidentely bite my hand but other than a bit of swelling it's ok he didn't break the skin
But I'm not gonna lie I'm scared going around their house which sucks because it's the only way to the fields (and I may or may not have had a panic attack because I had a dream about the dog escaping again)
But something more positive... went on a hike yesterday and yo Nick isn't scared of most things but stair to a train.... those terrify him.
A kind stranger offered to pick him up and put him in the train. He lifted my 40kg dog like he weighted nothing and put him in the train.
getting him out of the train was another fight be we managed lol
He met two lady dogs he was friends with instantly and when we stopped at some festival in the nearby village he made friends with a group of little girls and one old lady lol
Mom told me not to stay too long with him there because there's gonna be a lot of people and live music so he could get stressed
...he fell asleep.

To be honest. DCxDP where the reason Danny meets the bats is Ace the Bat-hound
Like, just think about it for a second. Danny is in Gotham for college, or maybe he just moved out to find a city where having mad scientist parents isn’t actually that unusual.
He can see ghosts.
The ghosts know this.
Now he’s getting harassed left and right by spirits trying to get closure. Fine, whatever, most of them are a one-and-done type deal, and the amount of ghosts trying to get his help steadily decreases.
Except for this one very stubborn dog.
It just keeps showing up and leading him to crime scenes! He doesn’t know how many “anonymous tips” he can call in to the cops before they trace his phone! And this dog, this incredibly good boy, will not stop trying to help the city. He’s never met anyone with such a strong sense of justice, let alone a dog. Can dogs even have a moral compass?
And so Danny just accepts the fact that Ace isn’t going anywhere and becomes his reluctant sidekick/dedicated medium. He leans into the whole thing, dressing up in a mix of traditional magic-user attire and accessories that pay homage to the ghost dog.
He becomes somewhat well known. The psychopomp detective following around the shadowy figure of a German Shepard? That’s unusual! That’s weird! I mean, it’s not the weirdest thing in Gotham, sure, but he’s a new vigilante and he’s got a ghost dog that people can only see when it’s around him. Someone’s gonna notice.
Damian, as Robin, is the first to reach out to him.
Ace doesn’t know Damian but he does know a Robin, and while this isn’t his Robin, he’s still friendlier than usual. Danny’s panicking because oh god the bats are here and also is this kid gonna steal my ghost dog, Damian is absolutely delighted by Ace, and Ace is just happy to see a Robin again.
Damian decides that the psychopomp isn’t a danger to anyone, and there’s no reason to put this encounter into his reports, really, and perhaps Danny can help with some of his cases in the future.
Danny is sweating bullets because Damian basically tells him that he’ll keep him secret as long as he gets to play with Ace. Ace is happy that he’s finally getting some bat affiliated crime-fighting assistance.
And so, Danny is now both Ace AND Damian’s reluctant assistant. At least whenever he’s in trouble, he can always call a middle schooler to help him.
(Is Robin even in school? He’s out patrolling damn near every night, and he stays out late as hell. Does he have a bedtime? He should.)
Eventually it gets to the point where Damian is going over to Danny’s house. When he first sees it, he has a damn bitch you live like this moment, to which Danny responds that not everyone has the money to afford a nice place. Damian counters that he could at least take the time to clean up, and Danny replies that he’s working, going to school, and being a vigilante assistant to a ghost dog, something’s got to give.
Danny nearly has a heart attack when he checks his bank account the next day and sees that someone transferred him 10,000 dollars.
And so they get into a routine. Danny and Damian fight crime with Ace at night, and occasionally Damian stops by during the day to play with Ace and have Danny help with his homework.
(Damian is smart enough to do it on his own, but some of the instructions are written incredibly confusingly, and he would never admit to needing help to his family. Danny is just glad that the kid is in school and cares about his education, blissfully unaware that he’s basically emotionally adopted him.)
Damian is used to being in Danny’s company.
Eventually, when going over a case with the family, Damian absentmindedly remarks that he’ll have to ask Danny about some of the clues that they might be missing. Nightwing asks who he means and Damian makes a face like he just swallowed a lemon.
Cue shitstorm.
Who is “Danny?” Why is Damian willing to ask for help from anyone, much less someone outside of the family? Does he know who Damian is? Has Damian been compromised? What the hell is going on?
Damian now has to explain that Danny is the psychopomp with the ghost dog who he might have met hunted down while on patrol and conveniently not mentioned, but he’s not a bad person, really, and he lets him play with Ace, and he’s been quite helpful on certain cases due to his ability to talk to ghosts.
Bruce insists that the family meet Danny. Damian, hoping that he won’t just skip town the second he hears the news, relents.
Danny is surprisingly eager to meet the bats, considering his earlier fears.
Damian, blissfully unaware of what’s coming, sets a time and place to meet.
Once everyone is there, he gives Bruce the earful of a lifetime.
Robin is in middle school! Danny knows that there’s no way to stop the boy from going on patrol, but you could at least shift his schedule so he gets enough sleep on school nights! Does the Bat even know where he is half the time?! (No) And why isn’t he comfortable asking his family for help with both cases and homework? Did they ever even notice how much time he was spending at Danny’s house? If Danny was a bad person, he could have seriously hurt the poor boy! Shame on you!
Nightwing is mortified that Damian didn’t trust him enough to tell him about any of this. Red Hood is laughing his ass off, because yeah Danny is making good points but he’s also chewing out the literal Batman. Tim is recording the whole thing. Steph is delighted by the absolute gall of this Danger Twink™️, and already planning to add him to several groupchats. Damian is more embarrassed than he’s ever been in his entire life.
You, he points to Nightwing, did your academic life feel supported when you were a Robin? Nightwing is too stunned to speak. Red Hood, eternal shit-stirrer, says that oh, we all prioritized patrol over our education, that’s just how it is. Red Robin actually dropped out of high school to avoid distractions, did you know that?
Danny honest-to-god shrieks at this.
He finishes his angry rant and leaves, everyone too stunned to stop him.
And as it turns out, Tim wasn’t the only person recording the whole thing.
The entire internet is blowing up with Psychopomp The Danger Twink™️’s rant. People are taking sides. Things are getting messy. Red Hood literally admitting on-camera to previously being a Robin is somehow not the main focus here.
Eventually someone connects some dots from the video, as well as stories circling the internet about the psychopomp. A ghost dog named Ace, who is the literal only reason that the psychopomp is fighting crime at all, which seems incredibly fond of Nightwing and Robin.
A crime-fighting dog who wants constant attention from both the current and original Robin.
Oh my god, Ace the Bat-hound died and became a crime-fighting ghost.
And, somehow, that’s still not the strangest thing going on in Gotham.

You guys really need to stop and consider the ways you're talking about Kabru I am dead fucking serious. Like I know that flattening characters is just what fandom does to a certain extent, but Kabru's actual personality is getting lost to the fandom hivemind insisting that he's aggressive/cruel/sociopathic/hateful, and these are particularly concerning takes to see leveled at the only brown character in the main cast day after day. "My poor sweet golden child Laios needs to be protected from this scary brown man" is not a good look! Like, it's very telling that the bulk of the hate and bad faith readings are reserved for Toshiro and Kabru. Everyone else's flaws get to be discussed and validated and forgiven (or erased), meanwhile people are straight making up things to be mad about with Toshiro and Kabru but patting themselves on the back for being smart.
The worst part is how undeserved it all is. I'm trying to lay off anime-onlys because we're still kind of in the red herring stage of getting to know Kabru, but I would still like to gently suggest that even if you think Kabru is up to something, you don't gave to get in the tags of every fan creator's post and bring up how you hate him or You Can Tell he's totally evil. Sometimes I think Kabru's blue eyes give people license to say things about his appearance that they know would sound completely racist otherwise, but referring to his blue eyes acts as a get-out-of-racism free card. The jokes about the dog with brown contacts are getting old, by the way.
For people who have read the manga, it's disappointing. Kabru is one of the most complex and important characters in the story, and if you base your interpretation of him and all your fandom interactions on shallow first impressions you are completely missing out.
I know part of this is because Dungeon Meshi is a comedy, but the story also wants to be taken seriously. For example, it's admittedly really funny when Chilchuck calls Laios "sick in the head", but that doesn't change the fact that the way Chilchuck casually belittles Laios caused him to hide the fact that he was "hallucinating" from his friends for weeks. Those feelings matter.
Like, this
is funny.
But this?
Is not. This is just a very clear example of a brown boy with PTSD. As someone else with PTSD, just looking at this fucking sucks, man.
The only reason why Kabru thinks about killing Laios is because he is in the middle of a flashback. He's struggling through a panic attack. If he truly wanted to kill Laios because he's violent or because he finds Laios inherently annoying, he wouldn't otherwise talk with Laios normally. Notice how he doesn't act this way at any other point in the story- it's just because he's triggered by monsters. Even when he's thinking about his plans to "deal with" Laios later, he's reluctant to actually kill him and only considers it to prevent another tragedy. Despite his deadly skills, Kabru relies far more on "soft" power- insight, persuasion, diplomacy. He's a rare example of a character who absolutely is, or at least can be, manipulative, but seems to use his abilities for good. He's not a pathological liar, he isn't looking down on everyone behind a smile. He's someone who is extremely emotionally intelligent, and he's willing to put aside all his own basic wants and needs to stop the cycle of dungeons devouring humans.
I'm going to cut a potential thesis on his character short and just give some examples of things that fandom should consider about his personality more:
Racism in fandom isn't just about whitewashing in fan art, or using racial slurs. The insidiousness of bad faith readings, reductions to racist tropes, lack of fan content for characters of color, and dismissal of a character's complexity are far more common. You can believe yourself to be completely neutral or even positive about a character and still churn out low-grade bile about them into fandom's collective unconscious. Fandom reflects real life.
And I have been around fandom long enough to see how these behaviors (mostly from my fellow white fans) affect fans of color, how it makes a fandom feel hostile and unwelcome to them. It's fun to make jokes and memes, I'm absolutely not saying that everything needs to be a deeply nuanced take, but we need to be careful that it doesn't veer into toxicity. Please think about how our contributions to fandom come across, and what sort of vibes they cultivate in this communal space.
