Hello again to all my cannabis loving and canna-curious friends and welcome back to another Tinkering with Cannabis review! Today’s review is a bit different than the normal product reviews I tend to do, and that is because a product such as Pure HempSmokes would not be something I would normally have an interest in picking up to review. However, I am currently in the process of trying to get myself off of cigarettes and onto my vape 100%, so I wanted something without nicotine and that felt like a cigarette for those times when the vape wasn’t quite doing it. I had been eyeing the hemp cigarettes for a while when I made my visits to City Smoke Shop, and finally, a couple of weeks ago I decided to pull the trigger when I visited again and met with my friend Ravi. So before I get into the nitty gritty of this product, I want to be very clear about the fact that City Smoke Shop is an amazing place. I love them. They have excellent prices, amazing customer service, and more CBD and Cannabis-related products than you can imagine. Just looking at their glass pieces can take hours. Everyone I have worked with has been very knowledgeable, and this review in no way reflects how I view their shop, as I find it to be one of my favorite places to visit in the Boston area. Now with that being said, let’s dive into this review.

So, as you can see from the picture, Pure HempSmokes come in a cigarette pack which is the same size and shape as any other cigarette pack you would buy, with 20 smokes inside the box. When you open the pack, there is a very grassy, hemp scent, which I very much enjoyed. The sticks are about the same size as a regular Marlboro. When I lit the smoke up, the grassy, earthy scent definitely intensifies, and it almost gives off an additional muted scent similar to that of burning sage. The flavor is very grassy, and has almost a hay flavor to it. I did notice a slight sense of relaxation after a few minutes of smoking, and the smoke does burn rather slowly, so it will last you a while, which is great considering a pack of 20 costs $19.99. Now, all this is well and good, and unfortunately, there is not too much I can really put into depth on this product, as I really did not find that it did much for me other than provide a slight calmness. I did enjoy the flavor and scent, but others around me were not so keen on it.

Now I’m going to jump into the rough part of the review. First, this company does not list the percentage of CBD on the box, so it is impossible to know how much CBD you are getting when using this product. In most cases this is not a problem, as I can usually just reach out to the company and request a lab report and/or information in the event this is not readily available on their website. However, Root Med only states on their website that this product is 100% hemp derived, that it contains other cannabinoids, that it has 0% THC, and it is 3rd party lab tested. To start here, at the bottom of the page, Root Med then writes that there is “less than 0.3% THC or less” (which is standard for CBD products) and they state that the QR scan code on the side of the box is specifically coded to provide the lab report for this product. There is a link provided where you can pull the lab report, which I followed to attempt to review the cannabinoids and CBD content of this product. The lab report only shows the measured amount of THC, whether the product passed or failed for the COA Standard Pesticide Test, and whether it passed or failed for the COA Standard Heavy Metals Test. There are no listing of the cannabinoids, the CBD content, or any other aspect of this product. Unsatisfied with the findings of my research, I reached out to Root Med to request more information. Ultimately, my request went unanswered.

I can honestly say that I do not feel comfortable recommending this product to my readers, as the information pertaining to this product is not readily available and the company has been non-responsive to inquiries regarding questions about this product and it’s contents. Given the number of products on the market who make their lab reports easily accessible to the consumer, I would recommend checking out other brands of hemp cigarettes if you are looking to try this option. At $20 a pack, I’d rather know what I’m getting, and I’d like to be able to receive a response from the company when I have a question about the product.

This is especially the case when the company’s website and lab reports show next to no information about said product. It was due to the lack of available information for this product that I did not feel comfortable classifying this as a CBD review, as I honestly have no idea how much, if any, CBD is actually in this product. Overall, I give this product 1.5 stars. I personally enjoyed the flavor, and the feel definitely helped to work through some of the cigarette cravings, but there are much better products on the market by more responsive companies. I honestly hate to give negative reviews, however, after this experience with this company and the lack of honest, available information on this product, should I decide to try this route again, it will not be with Root Med or Pure HempSmokes.
