rubs my hands together deviously. i love arafef so much guys. THEY HAVE SOME OF . THE SILLIEST PARADOX SPACE CONTENT. its so small and its still got me absolutely giggling and kicking my feet.

basically these two girls are so WEIRD and kind of terrifying and both so wonderful. it is actually heartbreaking we Don't ever get to see them really interact in main comic (the only interaction we get i believe is when aradia is a ghost and that's not even like a head on convo i think it's just aradia kind of commenting on something feferi says in alterniabound. sign. feel free to correct me if im wrong tho!!)

i love them and i think they could get up to so many shenanigans together- silly girls going on adventures together, aradia shows feferi all her cool dead stuff and feferi is like "380 !! 38) <3", watching scary movies together(these two would be so fucking into horror!!!) if sollux and eridan are lame nerds these two are the COOLEST NERDS IN EXISTENCE. like this is a couple that you would meet and be like oh my god they're awesome..and maybe they even hold hands? kiss a little? kiss a LOT even?? fall asleep in a pile together?? PERHAPS THEY SNUGGLE???

anyways i think about them a normal amount. also i love them in arasolfef (sollux deserves TWO scary girlfriends.) and arafefnep? catfishbones maybe?? nepeta has such a cute relationship with both of these girls so methinks they deserve to all kiss :3.

ERISOLKAT:

BACK TO ERISOL. BUT THIS TIME. KARKAT. so obviously all of the erisol stuff still holds true for this but somehow adding karkat to the mix makes it all so much more domestic? i think maybe it's because karkat has the NEED to take care of his friends and these two both need a lot of attention. it just all balances out so perfectly imo. and all of these characters have such interesting relationships with each other and it is all genuinely so sweet. and yet they're all such gripe-y whiney assholes so it's baffling that it SHOULD be as sweet as it is.

maybe im biased cause some of my favorite fluff fanfics i've read for hs were erisolkat. but heyyyy. anyways i love these horrible creatures and i think all of them holding hands is a Fantastic fucking idea.

Y’know as much as I *love* Erisol, it’s up there in terms of my favorite Homestuck ships, it’s also one of the ships I feel is *really* circumstantial especially with how the dynamic between Eridan and Sollux is in canon

There’s so many factors into why it just wouldn’t work? With where they were in canon at least. No doubt it really wouldn’t be health *in canon* at least not without development

But there’s also many reasons it COULD work and be really GOOD, but again: it’s gotta be developed because these assholes have problems (Like not just on the Eridan front, though that’s an obvious factor because oh my god this dude, Bestie you need help)

It’s hard to fully explain atm bc I’m typing this in the car before I head to work (I’m not driving dw) but I just wanted to say like props to ppl who take the time to develop the relationship and acknowledge the struggles with them getting TO the point of a relationship, and what problems could arise while they ARE in the relationship. As a character analysis enthusiast I fucking LOVE when we get to see multiple facets of relationships, not just romantic, and it makes me go :] when I read ppl who can flesh out and develop erisol

Also when people are willing to explore them more than the base level “these bitches hate each other and fight all the time” because I mean, yeah that’s true, but also there’s gotta be layers bc a HEALTHY pitched relationship shouldn’t JUST be fighting and bullying each other. Kismesi are supposed to help each other be *better* and it feels that part doesn’t get explored enough I suppose? At least on the Erisol front

things it is!

•kismesissitude is mutual hate!

•on top of the hatred, it's mutual respect! you can't have a good healthy kismesissitude without respect for each other!

kismesissitude is a relationship where you see all of someones good traits, and you respect and like those, but that liking of their good traits is outweighed by how much you hate their bad ones. in a kismesissitude you both inspire each other to get better, because you care about each other and WANT the other to get better and be all the good things that you already know they are capable of being.

common misconceptions!

•kismesissitude isn't JUST hating each other. respect is ALWAYS necessary. if you don't respect each other, that isn't a kismesissitude!

•kismesissitude is NOT something that SHOULD end in death. you do NOT and should not kill your kismesis.

•blackrom should ALSO not include any extreme bodily harm. for example, vriska blinding terezi. that is NOT something you do in ANY quadrant relationship, including blackrom.

•not every two characters that hate each other have pitch feelings for one another! another example, erisol, is written in a way that is NOT blackrom, they just hate each other. wanting each other dead and wanting to kill each other like they do is not even remotely a good example of pitch romance.

•kismesissitude is NOT just hate sex y'all. come on. YES its a concupiscent quadrant, NO thats not all it is. all the other bits still apply. im sure there are plenty of blackrom relationships that arent even sexual. its not a requirement (although its a bit of one canonically on alternia, anywhere else and in any other context does not require it)

im gonna just copy my comment and paste it here if thats alright, with a few minor edits

its mostly the way fic writers for arasol [and erisol too, dont get it twisted, fic writers in this fandom tend to not do my favorite characterization] tend to mischaracterize Eridan as like. Cronus 2.0??? When that's not what he is and it drives me insane.

Plus I have yet to see one fic handle them in a way that isn't pale when its not humanstuck, which.... I feel like they wouldn't be super healthy in that quad if that makes sense. I don't mind them as much flushed but I haven't seen many fics that handle them in an interesting way rlly.

If you have any fic recs for this, feel free to send them my way, I don't hate arasol and really enjoy aradia as a character so any ship with her is at minimum ok.

level 2 is complete

im doing my last due diligence to update about this fic and then i swear im shutting up about it forever. im copypasting this straight from a discord server im in but consider this my final level 2 plug

level 2 is complete, in its fucking, 126k unbeta'd ugliness

if youve somehow gone this entire time like "oh theres leo again posting that weird thing that i dont know what it is" hi. this is level 2. its an erisolsprite/davesprite/karkat fic that is. what did i call it. "a post-game take on doomed characters with dnd elements"

its got healthy polyamory and a shitload of found family and deals heavily with healing, communicating, and moving forward, as well as some serious classpecting bullshit as is typical for me and a little bit of magical spice

main cast by the end is karkat, dave, erisol, kanaya, rose, and aradia, and jade, nepeta, and john are supporting characters if that sweetens the pot any

rose/aradia is a minor ship bc i like getitng my fingers in that sort of thing

this fic is, functionally, my love letter to doomed characters, and so self indulgent it hurts to look at. it was a doodle fic that got very, very far away from me, which i felt compelled to try and see through to the end, and then desperate to try and wrap up so i could move on to darker, more batty pastures. its been looming over my head for over a year now, and while i finished writing it several months ago, frankly its a relief to finally slap the bow on it and be done in the eyes of relentlessly unforgiving fanfiction gods.

ive got complicated feelings about the end result, so i wont be tagging this post with anything. but if you follow me, and you like my writing, and this extremely niche content seems like something thats up your alley, give it a shot, i guess.

god am i gonna need to go with the sequals too? just og or all ships that’re considered canon by the end? whatever i’ll just go in order in what might be the ‘canon’ ships from all three of these categories. this is gonna be fucking long so anything and everything is under the cut. also i’m SO not gonna add hiveswap that can be its own separate ask. so:

roxygen: it’s a cute ship...but the sequal vers is garbage considering how inconsiderate roxy is to john’s feelings and his house burning down like damn rox this is the guy who sat with ya as ya mourned doom rose’s death give the guy some fuckin time himself.

rosemary: also cute ship...sequal versions are fuckin godawful tho. their barely a thing in meat from wha i can gather and then there’s candy...oh CANDY kanaya deserves better fuck this sense of her sayin she’s over it idc if it was off screen, even then half the cast ate stupid pills during that time so WHY must i be surprised that this is wha happens?

dave/kat: i dun like it. in either universe. meat is just perfect gay bois who have occasional deep talks and literally do nothing else while candy they split up thanks to jade which, geez ya guys must’ve been shit to tell her to fuck off like come on. og hs wise i barely consider them canon if we only get pictures and them just being on equal footing on quadrant talk. not to mention dave implied to be crushing on jade and JOHN not karkat, idk where this couple even came from other then love triangle situation with terezi but like, that’s barely much of a reason to become canon. i’d go with em bein pale/moirails more.

jadedave: i’m guessing candy and meat i thought meat implied they were dating but may aswell. so....it sucks but thats because candy and meat suck, meat dave’s basically cheating on her i didnt hear any implication they broke up and she’s like...chill??? and then there’s candy where she literally forced him and kar to break up and dated after dirk apparently died, i do not like the implications of this whole thing. course candy dave is dead and a robot now so...anyways canon wise dave had a crush on her and if jade does like him i’d hope it’s not cause of davesprite cause despite both being dave’s they were different. it’s cute otherwise.

davepetajade: it’s...cute? i guess? idk i kinda found davepeta a bit...idk overwhelmingly overrated? like i know where their popularity came from but readin the series now after all that hype i dont really see it anyways tho it’s basically davespritejade with nepeta in the mix. and idk nothin implied much of nepeta liking jade, or talkin to her much. and davepetasprite is a mesh of both so idk. it’s a ship with cute fanon works of em hanging with outfits but that’s bout it.

janejake: i hate it. legit. this is disgusting and completely throws out jane’s character. like even in the fixed timeline the talk she had with dirk probably still happened on the god bed’s and how she acknowledged wha she thought was wrong on wantin jake’s kids and so on trickster still happened and how she also realized she might’ve overhyped jake. but lets throw it ALL out the window to force jake in an unhappy marriage in both universes and possibly force him to stay in candy due to having tavvy if i’m reading the implications right. even then jake isn’t good for jane either both got their own needs this ship would’ve been sunked in canon and WAS but the sequals are beyond it so maybe that explains it but it disgusts me.

roseterezi: guess in meat specifically. yeah i kinda dont...care for it, like i still cant tell if rose and kanaya broke up or if she just fucked off without breaking up either one is fucked up on kan’s behalf. even then i just dont care for their kismesis it got brought up once and that was it.

jaderose: candy wise i guess even tho it was a fling. it disgusts me still mostly because of kan’s behalf on bein fucked over and both goin through a ‘surrogation’ process without her notice. like fuck this shit the jaderose fans deserve better.

roxycallie: idk if this one’s canon but it’s heavily implied callie lives with roxy least in candy. it’s cute, cant deny it even in og it was pretty cute, dont really care for candy vers tho but then again maybe their not a couple in it idk what’s canon couples anymore.

johnterezi: literally fucked in meat universe and john has kismesis feelings for her in canon. it’s...interesting, idk tho i feel like it’s one sided on john’s side.

ms paint/spade slick: i cant deny it’s cute, he’d least know how to treat a lady but god i’d hope it wouldnt be his only defining trait with her. also want ms paint to call his bullshit out pls and thanks.

dirkjake: honestly i cant tell if their STILL canon in og or not god forbid the sequals. in general though...i dont. i honestly dont really like em together much. they seem like the type to least stay friends but idk bout another relationship would be a good idea for em. maybe later down the line but otherwise canon wise they need a break.

arasol: it’s cute, best ship. their quadrant was never confirmed but regardless their cute. sol tho in the sequals deserved better then to get abandoned by aradia goddamn.

erisol: oh boi this one...this was...yeah i cant even deny they wouldnt be too healthy, i like lookin at fanon ways tho for em. canon wise tho yeaaaah no these guys definietly wouldnt work.

gamtav: it’s...cute but boi gamzee needs some help i think.

gamsol: -sollux did imply he either wanted a kismesis or matesprit with him in one of the flashes- again same as gamtav.

aradia/equius: BIG NOPE nope nope nope equi that’s weird wha ya did never do it again thank fuck aradia hasnt been around him since.

karterezi: their actually kinda cute, looking back on em they could’ve worked. stupid doomed timeline bullshit.

gamkar: as moirails...karkat was fuckin shit at his job i cant sugarcoat it. i get where it’s from he’s not gam’s lusus and shouldn’t be forced to check on him during his time of gettin high and such, i get they were kids, but god gam kinda deserved a better moirail. and then later on in the series it gets more fucked up between kar gettin stabbed by him and both in a pretty unhealthy moirailationship to the fixed timeline where gamzee is just shut into a fridge and kar doesnt fuckin care, like dude, wow. gamzee was bad yeah but damn, harsh a tad.

terezigam: as a kismesis it’s almost disgustingly unhealthy to me and honestly terezi deserved better and gamzee maaaaybe shouldn’t get a kismesis, ever, unless he can sort his shit out -the sequals tho wont do that lol-

minorly gonna count johndave in this: idk if i can see john reciprocating for dave so dave’s crush on him almost kinda hurts, especially since fixed timeline dave’s john is well, dead and our john is probably still different from his john, has angst but man i kinda dont mind it as a one sides crush it’s nice confirmation of dave bein bi atleast.

nepetajasper/jasprose: i cant see it, it’s disturbing i guess. i like em more as friends but jasprose is probably more creepy bout it.

signless/diciple: i think considerin the implications they were fuckin adorable and deserved the best.

summoner/mindfang: it’s kinda sad considerin its implied mindfang’s love for him might’ve been one sided, they could’ve been cute tho.

orphanor/mindfang: probably sounded like the best kismesis’s until he murdered dolorosa.

dolorosa/mindfang: BIG NOPE i dun like the implications.

condence/orphaner: since it’s implied orphaner had a crush on her, gonna say tho big nope considerin condence is a bitch.

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

Undertale

Frisk and Sans. The ship is very popular (albeit some might find it controversial) but to me, Frisk and Sans could be such good buddies without the romantic part. Just... be best friends with a funny goblin of a skeleton, start mayhem everywhere.

Homestuck

This... is actually a hard one because there are platonic-romantic types of relationships in the Troll culture in there.

If we remove all the quadrant stuff in the way - I’d say it’s the Scourge Sisters. They feel more like close friends that went through a lot of shit together (and because of each other). They aren’t like... wholesome and healthy but they do seem to work. I prefer seeing them in cahoots rather than in any quadrant.

Another non-quadranty BroTP for me is Erisol (Eridan and Sollux). A lot of people ship them in black (romantic rivals of sorts) but I don’t actually feel it? They don’t seem to have much in common, and after the happenings at the very end of the story... I’d rather see them as friends that became close... well, against their will. But nothing ‘more’.

HOWEVER. If we’re talking about whom’st’d’ve I ship in PALE rather than in more romantic and sexual quadrants...

Please, please please, gimme pale Karkat and John. I know the whole romantic shippy thing works for them well, but I would kiss anybody who would write something about them like this (I’ve read a few fics already, I just need MORE). It’s got it all. facing internalized homophobia, facing toxic masculinity, cultural clash and differences and misunderstandings, bad movies, PTSDs and depression, cuddles, non-sexual intimacy. All the works.

Also... *coughs* pale Eridan and Roxy. Plz. I am dying. I need.

i dont ship erisol but hear me out. i get thinkin itz unhealthy cuz they ended up wantin to kill each other which iz not a healthy kismesisitude but. they only wanted to kill each other under extenuating circumstancez. in all other scenarioz in which they are not both makin dire contrastin decisionz on a meteor whilst bein trailed by an unbeatable villain theyre fine. eridan even explicitly statez that not only doez he not want sollux to die but his death basically all but breakz him.

1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 6?

I don’t remember what episode it was, but the car scene. I was what, 17? And I was like well, that’s the magic of friendship healthy obsession.

2. Have you ever read a fanfic about 2?

No, there aren’t that many and I was first too upset and then just couldn’t get myself into SoC fanfiction that much.

3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screen saver/profile picture/tumblr screen saver?

No, I mostly use dolls, or animals as my profile pics (or myself or memes) (I also used to use pictures but then I evolved and prefer not to go that now as I usually couldn’t credit the author, but there was always one (1) girl on the art). I has an art with Stiles holding de-aged Derek as a screen saver, but I have had baby little grub Eridan and Rawenclaw crest for the longest time.

4. If 7 were to suddenly break up today, what would your reaction be?

Well, they aren’t canon anyway, plus other issues, but I guess I would be a bit sad.

5. Why is 1 so important?

It’s like my ultimate OTP. The one I always go back to. It wasn’t the first one (khm Dramione khm), but it’s just everything. Plus if you look closely, every single one of my OC’s is Draco in some way (although developed in some very random ways) and my otps are Drarry.

6. Is 9 a funny ship or a serious ship?

Serious. They aren’t a full fledged couple yet, but they are on their way, and with the Lynches it’s either hard, fast and for long, or it’s really just a veneer.

7. Out of all the ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry?

I would say 1, 4, 6, 9 and 10, but ultimately Steo probably has the most because Drarry kind of both got their own agenda just when things could’ve gotten heated.

8. Out of all your ships listed, which ship has the strongest bond?

Ohhh hard. 1, 2, 3 and 10 I would say. I would’ve included Jordeclan, but their ship is still a baby.

9. How many times have you read/watched the 10’s fandom?

I think I’ve read TRC like 4 times (for reference I’ve read it for the first time 3 years ago and there are 4 books in the series)

10. Which ship has lasted the longest?

Drarry, if I understand the question correctly. It’s been around 10 years now?

11. How many times, if ever, has 6 broken up?

They aren’t even canon, so they didn’t get together in the first place:D

12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 2 or 8?

Considering the exitance of Erisolsprite and his experience, Sollux and Eridan would kill each other before the things would even get started. Nina and Matthias, however, canonically survived some bad shit and are both soldiers, so 2 100%.

13. Did 7 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason?

Again, it’s not canon. But all things considered, I see why they could do that.

14. Is 4 still together?

Hell if I know, but I sure hope so, despite TW never explaining or mentioning them ever again.

16. If all 10 ships were put into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win?

I would say Helnik again, although Steo and Draeden are good competitors (it would probably be like Erisol (they can be good in a fight, especially Sollux, but they would kill each other first), Casmund for being too honorable, Drarry because they canonically aren’t much better then Eridan and Sollux, although it pains me to put them that low and it goes against all my hcs, Mahealahey because they are sweet babies, Will & Lyra because Lyra would do something dumb, Jordeclan and Pynch have pretty much same chances in my eyes, and then there are Draeden but Derek does something dumb like helping someone, Steo with them being too loud while arguing and Helnik, who, again, both have the skills. However, Ronan is a wild card, really, he can pull off some amazing shit with his dreams, so Pynch’s placing is even more debatable then Drarry’s).

17. Has anybody ever tried to sabotage 5’s ship?

Canon.

18. Which ship would you defend to the death and beyond?

1, 3, 9, 10.

19. Do you spend hours a day going through 3’s tumblr page?

No, I just cry instead.

20. If an evil witch descended from the sky and told you that you had to pick one of the ten ships to break up forever or else she’d break them all forever, which ship would you sink?

Will & Lyra because while I have an AU for Helnik (and Nina’s new girlfriend), Will and Lyra canonically will only as atoms after they die, so they are as good as sunk already.
