OK, serious faces back on. Working on next Replica update, so here's a WIP. I really should use reference for Krang 1, but F it, we ballin'. Wanna get out of these recorded flashbacks. Got places to go and plot to see. The next update should be the conclusion of the recording and I'm excited that we'll finally get to see more of the Resistance HQ after this. (I'll be honest I hate doing backgrounds but I feel like we're in sore need of some better establishing shots.)
I'm sorry there's been so much time between the updates as of late. Been a lot of distractions and projects going on, but hopefully we'll get back up to a regular schedule in a few months. Hopefully people have not lost all interest. My brain is always buzzing with this story so it drives me nuts that I can't update faster.

Do BB!Jay and Poppy ever become friends again? Obviously there's... the Whole Kits Thing but IDK I just like seeing them be friends. I think they should have been friends in canon but god forbid Jayfeather hangs out with anyone except the Three (and Hollyleaf before she dies and then she dies again)
It doesn't happen for years. Poppyfrost wanted to move on SO bad, and she's chronically avoidant of any legitimate problems. If left to her own devices, she would have kept dodging him until the day she died.
(Poppy with her garden like "I Just Want To Grill.")
I think what changed was Dovewing leaving.
Poppyfrost is one of the last people who talks to her before she Hits Da Bricks, not knowing that she was close to a boiling point. She was FINALLY going to be brave about it and chat with her 'niece' after being distant her whole life so far. And uh... it didn't end well.
Too little too little too late, really. But it killed her, that when she finally mustered up the courage it basically pushed Dovewing over the edge.
But after that, with Dovewing leaving completely and disavowing her garbage family for how they all hurt her or failed to protect her, Jayfeather can't keep doing this shit. Poppyfrost avoiding him and refusing to talk about it
He KNOWS it's just as hard on her as it is on him. And that her breath catches uncomfortably when she looks at him. How long are they going to live like this? Badly pretending that nothing happened while they're both obviously in the middle of a big mess of their mutual making?
I haven't written on it yet but I imagine he cornered her while alone, and ended up actually, legitimately chasing her down. Like,
"Poppyfrost. You're bottling something up again."
"Aaaaaahaha idk what you mean. What. Huh."
"Yes you do, this is getting absolutely ridiculous. I'm blind not stupid, you can't pretend our secret codebreaking lovechild didn't--"
"BYE"
"What do you MEAN BYE IM- HEY!! POPPYFROST!!!!"
Something about the way that EVERY time Poppyfrost turns her head, Jayfeather is there. Once a comfort, then an inescapability, and someday... back to something comfortable.
Never the way it was, but better than it is when she's bolting through the woods trying to pretend her problems don't exist.

Living that extreme vacation life (11pm burger in the most suburban bistro I've ever experienced....BUT I'M OUTSIDE BC IT'S NOT RAINING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)

Chainsaw Man thoughts go brrrr. Thinking thinking thinking about the wild end of csm part 1. It's everything to me right now. So... spoilers below.
Cannibalism as an act of all-consuming love.
Makima as the houndmaster devoured by one of her own dogs.
Eaten by Denji, who still loves her even after everything she's done to him. Denji, whos scent she didn't care to memorize because she could smell Pochita in him, and that was all she wanted. Makima says that to be eaten by chainsaw man would be an honor, but she's not eaten by chainsaw man. Denji doesn't rip her apart and devour her with the many teeth of his devil form. He brings in Kishibe to help him, and they... butcher?dismantle?piece Makima out into cuts of meat and bone and organs.
He has to eat All Of Her for this to work.
And he eats her as Denji. Takes his natural time with it, cooks her into a variety of dishes, eats some of her raw. Savors every bite. He dreamed of eating good food and being with a woman, and I just gotta say... the monkeys paw was not feeling very merciful on this one.
Did he learn how to cook from Aki?
When it's done and finished and Makima's not coming back, he reports back to Kishibe and reasons that Makima did not revive because what he did to her was not, in his eyes, an attack. Consuming her, becoming one with her, was an act of love.
And then Kishibe just? Straight up drops a whole child on this child? (eternally a child? the hybrids don't seem to age. will he be sixteen forever?) Anyway, congrats on saving the world, Denji. Here's a little girl who exists as a direct product of what happened between you and the woman you "became one" with and also she is the reincarnation of that same woman. Better give her lots of love and a good stable home so she doesn't grow up to be Makima 2! Time to be the loving father you never had and not the one you were forced to kill to defend yourself. Time to be a good big brother like the one you were forced to kill to defend others.
(and akis name is on the big list of gun devil casualties, and by definition fiends are possessed corpses, and he was for sure already dead. even if denji could have subdued the gun fiend and somehow gotten it docile, it still wouldn't have been aki anymore. that doesn't make it any easier to put down the monster wearing his brother's body, or stop him from agonizing over whether there was something he could have done to save him)
So there Denji sits, a seventeen year old kid (sixteen forever?) dealing with the loss of his family, surrounded by the uneasy beginnings of a new one. Eight leashes in his hands. Seven dogs that belong to the girl in front of him more than they belong to him, and his late sister's beloved cat, the only one besides him to have survived.
Denji looks down at his new sister/daughter/roommate and asks if she would like to go get something to eat.
Just... not meat.

Yes!!! Soooooo much convincing!!! I had to literally kill a horde of cats, nailing them to doors, putting them in soup and leaving them in bedsheets just to get the lazy teenagers to move their arses. Now I understand how frustrating my unmotivated ass must have been to my dearly departed brother.
Even then I had to dress as a common hunter and all but take their hands and lead them up the damn path myself!!!

rewatching stolen earth/journey's end and. listen. i know the daleks, in universe, are murderous, terrifying beings that have wiped out planets. the doctor's companions that have come across the daleks have every reason to be terrified at the idea of them invading earth. but.
it's kinda funny seeing jack, martha, sarah jane, etc. all panicked and fearful because of this thing:
look at him. he's cold and wet. pitiful. definitely not about to vaporize you in a silly laser skeleton effect. absolutely not going to destroy the entire planet and everyone on it.
