Character Type been thinking about with @gjdraws that also means a lot to me that i don't talk about enough: foppish/pretty, full of lust for life, absolutely useless in most situations although may have one incredibly well-developed skill, flitters from situation to situation attempting to make things work, usually terrible with money, either struggles through life due to the inherent way society around them refusing to accept their philosophies/inherent way of moving through the world, or finds a person/people who realise how needed their joie de vivre is to simply living a good life beyond inherent pragmatism. it's all good being excellent at things, but you need a silly little fellow with you to make it worthwhile

really if you're being like a connoisseur of facial proportions and stuff im not pretty. but what i am is thin and young with big green eyes and long blonde hair which is enough to be pretty-adjacent as an anti-woke outrage farmer social media presence where all i have to do is make faces to a clip of women saying they don't like short men and say something like "women are crazy nowadays i don't blame guys for staying single!" and let the money from my following of stupid sheeple conservative-but-not-religious men roll in

"Antiochos’ and Stratonike’s activities in the eastern part of the [Seleukid] empire are largely shrouded in mystery, but, as Engels has argued, Antiochos was far from idle since he embarked on a large building programme and was active in securing the frontier. There is some evidence to suggest that his new bride accompanied him for much of this period. We can perhaps identify Stratonike’s presence with her new husband in the Upper Satrapies through the gold coinage minted in Susa and Baktria in c . 287. The two gold coin sets are of the same type, the obverse features the laureate head of Apollo facing right and the reverse features Artemis in an elephant biga facing left with the legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΕΛΕΥΚΟΥ in exergue.
Figure 1: Coin of Seleukos I from Baktria Depicting Apollo on the Obverse and Artemis with Elephant Biga on the Reverse (Houghton and Lorber 2002, SC I no. 163).
Figure 2: Coin of Seleukos I from Baktria Depicting Apollo on the Obverse and Artemis with Elephant Biga on the Reverse (Houghton and Lorber 2002, SC I no. 257).
The reverse image of Artemis in the elephant biga is within the same design type as a large range of other coinage issued by Seleukos I celebrating the success of his elephants and thus his eastern campaigns. The appearance of Artemis is however unique to these coin types. This suggests the emphasis on the close links between the twin gods, Artemis and Apollo, depicted on the obverse and reverse of this coinage . Since there appears to be as a close link between Apollo and Antiochos as there is between Zeus and Seleukos, the presence of Artemis could be seen as a symbol for Stratonike. This would create a series of parallels: Seleukos/Zeus, Antiochos/Apollo, and Stratonike/Artemis. The first two reflect what we see for these two kings at the list of priests of Seleukid kings in Seleukeia in Pieria . Additionally, it may be notable that the sister-wife ideology [...] appears to be evident later in the reign of Antiochos.
As all of the Apollo/Artemis cointypes were produced on high value gold coinage, this suggests that it was issued in order to commemorate a significant event. While the type was similar to other Seleukid coinage, the shift from Athena to Artemis was clearly discernible and unique. The arrival of the new joint-King and Queen in the region to take up residence would have been a suitable moment for the issuing of the new coin type. This advertisement of their new rule certainly falls in line with Seleukos’ wedding speech which confirmed their new roles."

All of these "who has more anything gender!" polls are just. white man without extreme body builder muscles v white man without extreme body builder muscles. The gender is "masculine" stop pretending it's universal

i think it was like. a genuinely evil creative decision to have shawn hunter marry the gender swapped narrative equivalent to his dead neglectful father in girl meets world. like theres no way to go around it katy is explicitly to maya what chet was to shawn, that is purposefully set up by the writers so i dont understand why it was then decided for the two of them to end up together.

Have we considered, instead of Liam Hemsworth, casting Kermit the Frog as the new Geralt? No other muppets would be involved and the fact that he’s a frog now is never addressed. Look at him in Muppet Treasure Island! He could pull it off!
He can sword fight! He’s got the hair! He’s the whole package!

sorry if someone has asked this already but curious about your thought process in choosing iphis for the woman poll
well, the short answer is that someone put the name in the suggestion form and enough people voted in the preliminary round and i went with it.
actually though--i didn't use pronouns in the bio for iphis, and that was deliberate. but i kept them in because i think what matters about a story like this is the effect it has throughout the years, and i think the story of iphis and ianthe can resonate both with wlw and with trans people, in different and similar ways. so i didn't feel right excluding that story when this is a blog with "lesbian" in the url and the story resonates with me as a lesbian, even though i know people will also resonate with iphis as an ancient depiction of a trans man. i do think both of those experiences can coexist. so in deciding to keep iphis in the poll i was mostly thinking about how i felt like the story of iphis and ianthe probably resonates with the audience of this blog. and personally i also don't feel comfortable assigning gender labels to ancient figures, so i didn't want to say "this character can't be part of the poll because they're definitely 100% a trans man" when i don't think anyone can say that.
but it's a fair question! i'm sure some people disagree with iphis's inclusion, and that's understandable. personally i'm also happy to play a little fast and loose with gender here, especially given that the polls aren't all that serious anyway.
(i did have trouble writing the bio, too, because the way the story is told sort of requires you to engage on the assumption that biology = gender, which of course i do not believe. but then i couldn't write a bio that didn't rely on that assumption because of how the story is written. it would have felt like overinterpretation to say that iphis had definitely been a man the whole time--and of course if i believed that iphis had definitely 100% been a man the whole time, they would not be in the poll.)

So I recently discussed with a moot (hey @sillyliterature thank you so much for being interested!) that I am in fact published and am writing a YA fantasy series!
Say hello to "The Coward's Emblem".
A single lie can destroy an entire Empire… The Mekshi Empire is teetering on the edge of civil war, and the legendary Shield, the protector of the Empire, is missing. The Lances of the Sovereign, a squad of elite knights, are desperately scouring the land while a shadow, the Merciless, thought to be gone forever, is rising. A coward might be the only one who can save them all.
Below are minor spoilers in the form of commissioned art of the characters by Sabri (@itsadragon_art on instagram) + the book 1 dragons by @ketolic !

Hi so when I first started getting into Wheel of Time I made a few posts wondering what it would look like to be trans in this world and someone replied to me about how a character was brought back to life outside the regular cycle of the wheel and so was still their previous gender despite being in a different body (and still used the respective half of the power) and I swear to god if the person they were referring to is Halima and he’s the only example of this in the series I am going to travel to Robert Jordan’s grave specifically to piss on it

Hate that there’s so many het romcoms and yet when I look through the list there’s nothing like:
Poor woman and her creepy husband go on a vacation to patch up their marriage after something the husband did
Husband quickly gets switched with someone/something else (i.e., creepy scientist switching brains, body stealing alien, something supernatural) that originally has a nefarious plan that gets put on hold so they can be the husband this kind woman deserves
Eventually the stolen identity thing gets found out (because I hate consent issues) and the wife makes the conscious decision to stay with the imposter while (very badly) pretending that she doesn’t know she’s choosing the “wrong” one
“Oh no, can’t believe there’s been a fake running around all this time, better go to my real husband” throws herself into the arms of the obvious imposter
(Like yeah I know I’m not gonna find a gay version of this but with how much het stuff there is you’d think this would be somewhat common among that stuff, right??)

the keys to the car is such a michael woman moment
Tonight when he hands you the keys to the car
And he says, "You can drive, some, but don't drive too far"
Tonight when she tells you you're her only one
Remember the morning brings on the sun
And they're watching you stumble and fall
Until you're lost down below like them all
Today when they give you their words of advice
And tell you you're free, friend, as long as it's nice
Today when their words of sweet wisdom come down
Remember their smiles are hiding their frowns
And they're watching you stumble and fall
Until you're lost down below like them all
If you say you're their friend, I'm afraid you will learn
They want only friends they can have on their terms
But the love that you show them will give you an edge
For authority is more than wearing a badge
And you'll be watching them stumble and fall
Until they're lost down below like them all
Until they're lost down below like them all
