hi!!!! the chapter makes me feel like that too. i want to shield them from what's about to happen but alas... gotta give the people what they want!!! answering asks from this list for rue!

😄 - How can you tell when they're really happy? What sorts of things make them happy? How often do they smile?

her tail wags when she's happy!! like a little dog! pre-tadpole she only really smiled around those she properly trusted, post tadpole she's a lot more smiley & happy despite the urge to do horrible things

she likes when people are nice to her and treat her like an individual, not as an attachment to bhaal. she's probably happiest around gortash if i'm being completely honest.

😳 - How easily are they embarrassed/flustered? What sorts of things catch them off-guard and make them lose their cool?

actual compliments get her good. especially when they come out of the blue and she's not fishing for them. she also loves looking at people she cares about and being caught doing that can make her get very flustered.

🤲 - Do they have any deep desires that they don't talk about and/or don't even realise they have? Do these desires conflict with their main goal at all?

at the core of it all, rue wants normalcy. she finds that in the temple and then when she reunites with gortash her routine is thrown off and becomes something new. as time passes and she starts to question her loyalities and her faith her desire to be seen as just rue worsen. she wants a boring life with her best friend, she wants to wake up and not have to be the face of a cult thats slowly slipping from her control

i think deep down theres a part of her that wishes she ran away as a kid with enver and wonders how different things would be. she just wants to hang out with her friend

but of course she cant ever admit any of that. there's cities to rule, people to kill, elder brains to conquer. she's the chosen of bhaal, she cant forget her duties. bhaal gave her life and he can easily take it away again, after all.

Yep, that’s exactly it! And yes, she does occasionally short-circuit herself. Tho, I imagine the effect of short-circuiting as more like this Deadpool scene (or even this Gumball scene)
