For my fellow Malevolent followers:
Just as a reminder, DC al fine translates, musically, to da capo al fine, meaning to return to the beginning ("head") of a piece and repeat the same notated material until the fine signal, which is indicated by the literal word "fine," meaning end. The music can cut off anywhere, even if traditionally, it's at a cadence (end of musical sentence). Sometimes this ending is indicated by an unaligned musical "inset," but not always. The ending is at the whim of the creator, doomed to repeat until the "fine." It's a notational shorthand, but a metaphorically heavy one.
