Footage from the set of Sjunde himlen (1956), shot in 1955. Director Hasse Ekman with his son Gösta, who was around 16 years old at the time. Gösta later became a famous actor, and tagging along to his dad’s film sets probably helped his passion and knowledge of the craft.
What I especially like about this clip is that Hasse is pretty much the only one not wearing a coat, so we can assume that the coat Gösta is carrying is Hasse’s. That’s the other reality of tagging along to your dad’s workplace; becoming his attendant.
(Narrator: “Hasse Ekman is responsible for the script and direction; he has also composed some of the music himself, and of course he plays one of the main roles.”)
FLICKA OCH HYACINTER (1950)
dir. Hasse Ekman
Dagmar Brink, a young female pianist, dies by suicide in her Stockholm apartment. She leaves all her belongings to her next-door neighbors, an author and his wife. Perplexed and curious, they investigate the girl’s reasons for taking her life. As they visit Dagmar’s friends, acquaintances and former boyfriends, her story unfolds. She stands out as loner, a woman no one could really grasp, always in want of something that nobody she met could make out.

I love the 90s Godzilla film. Would not recommend watching it to people I respect!
