Harvey's Secret Kids

Harvey's POV:

Harvey came back to his apartment earlier than he should have but he wanted to see his kids. Adaline was already at the apartment where she was his babysitter/nanny.

He had an office party tonight and he knew that he had to go.Finley was sick he had a fever of 103 which was bad for an adult even worse for a small 3 year old boy. On his way home at about 2:30 he picked up his niece Reese. She was a freshman who wanted to be like her uncle and he was proud of that and it's also the fact that he had all somehow kept it from the firm which was surprising to everyone who thought they knew everything about him.

Reese walks in before him "We're home" I walk into the main living space to see Adaline in sweatpants and a Harvard hoodie holding Finley who's in sweatpants with no shirt.I walks over to Adaline as she says "Hey Harvey." "Hey Addy" and I watch as Reese walks back out of her room and walks over to Addy and takes Finley from her. "How's he doing? He was doing pretty badly when I left for school this morning." Addy sighs "His fever has gone down to 101 and he had a cold bath and slept for a couple hours", Reese nods "I'll watch him while you get ready for your party till the night babysitter can get here but then I have to go to study group tonight so I can't stay with him."

"I'll take him so you can do your reading for the day and then you can take him while I get ready" Reese hands him over and I support his head and back and walk off to her room. Adaline gets up and gathers her stuff "sorry I have to go I have class", "go go I'll be fine it's like I didn't raise him most of his life I can handle my precious Finley." I hear her laugh as my apartment door shuts behind her.

Finley starts to whine and I start to rock him and he stops fussing and calms down. I switch Finley to my other arm and take off my jacket then repeat on the other side and once my suit jacket is off I shift him so that his head is in the crook of my neck. I walk over to my balcony doors and open them. I step outside. Finley fusses a little at the cold so I turn away from the wind shielding him from the wind. I stand outside with him for about ten minutes before I feel him start to shiver so I walk back inside and I walk into the kitchen to take his temperature again. I get the thermometer and put the sensor to his forehead and see his temp has gone down to 100 so down one.

I turn and walk towards my room but turn before I get to it knocking on the slightly open door "come in" "hey you done with your reading?" "Yes I am. Now give me my little brother." I laugh "I feel like most older kids don't enjoy watching their younger siblings" "While I'm different because there is a 12 year age gap and the fact of what my childhood was like before I came and lived with you and you adopted us." I hand over Finley to her awaiting arms "his temp has gone down and I have to go shower and get ready for this stupid work party. I hear her laughing at me as I walk into my room and lay out my suit I'm wearing tonight, a black 3 piece suit with a dark green tie. I then head to the bathroom to shower. I take a quick 8 minute shower and get out with a towel around my waist. "Dad Oliver's here!" "Alright I'll be out in a minute!" I sigh as I quickly put on my suit without worrying about my hair for the moment.

I walk out and see Oliver already holding Finley "Hi Oliver thank you for watching him." "No problem Mr. Spector", I took Finley from his arms and went to take his temperature one more time 101 so it went back up. "He has a fever of 101 and last I took it, it was 100 so he needs fluids and rest and maybe a cool rag on his head." "Got it and I'll call you if he gets worse and you can finish getting ready". I thank him and walk back towards my room knowing Reese already retreated to hers "hey I'll drop you off on my way to the party. You guys are at the normal place right?" I get a nod and a smile "alright we leave at 20" before going back to my room and doing my hair to perfection.

I walk back into the main room and sit on the couch opposite of Oliver and Finley and put my shoes on. Reese walks out of her room "I'm ready" I stand up "Alright let's go" I bend down and the top of Finley's head and Reese does the same. "Call me if he gets worse or anything changes" Oliver looks my way "Got it sir".

Reese and I make it to ground level and walk outside to the car where Ray is waiting. "Hi Ray" we both say in union "hi Spectors. Are we going to the normal study spot then the firm party" I smile and nod "you know us too well." It's about a 15 minute drive before we reach where we are dropping off Reese. She leans over and kisses my cheek "love you. call me if anything happens to Finley". "Got it. Love you too". She exits the car "Maya will take me home so I should be home before you so I'll pay Oliver". I give her a thumbs up and Ray pulls the car out and we head to the party.

I pull up a good 20 minutes late but hey at least I'm close to being on time. "Ray, can you just stay close in case something happens with the kids", "you got it boss" I walk into the venue and grab a glass of champagne from a waiter walking by before spotting Jessica and Donna and Louis so I head in their direction. "Better late than never Spector" "Nice to see you Jessica and I'm sorry I'm late I was busy" she just takes a sip of her champagne. I start having a conversation with Donna before Jessica says to mingle with potential clients. I start walking around trying to see who would be a good fit for the firm.

I finally spotted someone I know who would love to sign with us-Jasper Atlas a billionaire who owns a huge tech company and isn't an asshole to the people he meets and he also happens to know about my kids and doesn't tell anyone. I walk over to him "hey Jasper how are you doing?" "Hi Spector, I'm good" he switches to a whisper "how are the kids?" I smile "they are doing great. Reese is at study group and Finley is at home sick with Oliver" he frowns at the news about Finley "I hope Fin gets better" I nod.

We talk for another hour or so and he agrees to move his business to our firm and then we both decide to talk to other people. I've been at the event for about 3 hours and I'm back in the original group including Jasper, Jessica, Donna and Louis before I get a call. I pull out my phone from my suit jacket and see it's Oliver I look up "sorry I have to take this" I step away from the group "Oliver what's wrong is Finley okay?", "No his fever spiked and I couldn't get it to go down so I brought him to the ER", "I'm on my way". I end the call before quickly walking back to the group "I'm sorry I have to go" Jasper grabs my arm "Harvey what's wrong?", "Finley's fever spiked again and Oliver took him to the ER" he lets go and starts following me "let's go I'll pick up Reese and meet you at the hospital". In a haze I don't realize that Jessica and Donna are in the car with me "ER, Ray go!" and he steps on it. I vaguely hear Donna and Jessica's question about who the kids are but I ignore them.

We get to the ER and I run inside to the reception desk Donna and Jessica on my heel "Finley Spector where is he", "What is your relationship with the patient biologically I'm his uncle but I adopted him when he was 6 months old" "bed 6" I turn and see the sign for bed six and run over trying not to get in anyone's way. I rip open the curtain to see Finley fussing but he looks up and makes grabby hands. I walk over to the side of his bed "hey bud" I pick him up and that's when Reese runs in and I see Jasper run in after her. She looks around in a panic "dad" she runs over "how is he?is he okay?" "I really don't know" I pull her under my other arm that's not holding Finley. I look up "Hey Jasper can you explain it to them and Oliver I can pay you so you can leave" I reach behind my back and pull out my wallet paying him what he's owed and he looks at Finley "Get better bud".

I see the group with Jasper looking at us then at Jasper again. The doctor comes and tells us he's alright but they want to keep him a day or two to make sure the fever breaks. So we got moved up to a room where I called Reese's school that she won't be in tomorrow then to Addy where we were and other information. Finally I called Jessica and said I won't be in for a couple days and she granted it and tried to ask about them but I just said bye and hung up.

2 days later we are leaving the hospital and Ray comes and picks us up. I'm in sweatpants that Addy brought up along with clothes for Reese and Finley and other essentials she deemed necessary. I called Jasper to let him know we were going home the night before and we got discharged around noon. When we finally arrive back at my apartment building I'm carrying a 15 year old and 3 year old that are both sleeping and Ray offers to bring up the bags and I nod probably too aggressively but it doesn't wake either kid so win-win.

When we walk into my apartment I walk down the little aisle and see Jasper, Jessica, Louis, Mike, Rachel and Donna all in my living room and they all look at me then my arms then my face again. I stare at them for a minute and realize Ray put our bags on the island and I just turn and walk to each separate kids room first Reese and I lay her down and pull her covers up and plug in her phone which is hard to do with one hand before shutting her curtains and door before walking across the hall to Finley's room laying him down on his bed and closing his curtains and door.

Before taking a second to breathe before walking back to the main living area where everyone is. "Remember when I said you would be a good dad, turns out you were one when I said that" Mike talks first I nod before grabbing the bag off the island and sit on the ground "alright ask your questions" as I open the bag and start to seperate the clothes. "How long have you had them?" "I adopted them almost three years ago but they are my niece and nephew," I answered Rachel. "Why do you have them? What happened to their parents?"-Louis "I have them cause they were shitty parents and are now dead. Next". The question I knew was inevitable from Donna "Why didn't you tell us and how did we not know?" Mike intervened "Yeah I lived here for a week and didn't know". "Alright so to answer Donna you guys didn't ask and I wanted to protect them and Mike they just happened to be at camp while you stayed here. Is that all?" I hear various yeses and nods so I say "Alright, get out I need a shower and a nap. I'll see you all tomorrow". They all leave me in peace and I do exactly as I say I would and it changes my life for the better.
