Mi piacciono i libri di Kent Haruf ma non so spiegare perché. Ho finito di leggere "La strada di casa", l'ho fatto velocemente, con la curiosità di sapere come sarebbe andato a finire e, una volta terminato, ho pensato: "è la storia di un uomo che fa quel che dice ma non dice quel che fa." Non so se questo gioco di parole abbia senso a 360 gradi però si avvicina, secondo me, al carattere di Jack Burdette.

Amo questo mondo fisico. E il vento e la campagna. Il cortile, la ghiaia sul vialetto. L'erba. Le notti fresche. Stare a letto al buio e parlare con te.

Ai due lati della statale c'erano piste sterrate che correvano sotto il cielo terso, dritte come le righe di un libro, con poche cittadine isolate sparse nella pianura sconfinata (Kent Haruf, Benedizione).

Mi chiedevo se ti andrebbe di venire a dormire da me, la notte. E parlare.

Penso di essere un po' innamorato del suo ricordo.
