dust: a christmas special (ot7)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
author’s note: to end the holiday season here is a little special with your favourite boys! have a peaceful day, take care.
synopsis: the christmas chaos vanished, time to clean up your mess, but it is not easy with those seven.
word count: 1.0k | genre: fluff, humour/crack | pairings: enhypen x gn! reader (platonic!) | warnings: mentions of being deaf, yelling, playfighting
“i think we should start cleaning up guys, the situation is not sustainable anymore.” it was the last day of christmas, the holy spirit and the holiday atmosphere slowly fading as time went on, you and the boys getting full and sick of stuffing yourselves with delicious special meals which you partly helped cook as well as got delivered to make sure you had enough of everything. wrappers of chocolate and presents were all over the kitchen counter, not leaving any space for you to make your morning drink; moreover the house looked like a mess, the two floors were terribly packed with all sorts of stuff you had to get in order to complete the decoration or to ensure that everyone was having the time of their lives (which included a karaoke machine, darts, and a table tennis court just to mention some activities you did), them being a bit damaged due to the excitement of the day before, the boys handling them roughly. “what did you say? sorry i’m literally deaf, yesterday’s karaoke destroyed my eardrums…even though i wanted to just sleep peacefully…” jake complained while moving into the kitchen, eyes barely open since he didn’t get enough sleep. “oh shit-“ “WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT OH MY GOD!”jake whined when you accidentally knocked the pot next to you over, its fall chattering on the marble floor, making your friend jump in surprise. “whoops, sorry. can you get the others? we need to clean this mess up.” you said gently, trying not to startle the poor boy even more.
ten minutes later all of the seven men were on their feet, sleepy gazes pinned upon your figure while waiting for an answer as of why you needed them so badly since jakey had no energy to even finish his sentence. “this is disgusting guys. i don’t even know where this suspicious substance came from, but i think it is better for all of us if we try to get rid of it.” you said with a face of shock, holding a roll of wipes and pointing at the countertop which had what you suspected was some kind of juice, sticking to everything of course. “hee please take the ornaments down from the rooms with riki, they are like broken in half or ripped into pieces anyways, so you can just throw them in the trash can.” you ordered, ushering the oldest and youngest boys of the group out of the mentioned room, and grabbing jay by his hand. “you are gonna help me clean the kitchen since we are probably the only ones who actually know how to do it.” he smiled at your words; you often came around to their dorm to spend time with them, meanwhile getting into a habit of cooking with jay, and this holiday was no exception; you had a blast with these silly boys whom you loved dearly, but the fun was over and everyone had to get back into their normal lives soon, not to mention new year’s eve rolling around soon enough. “sunoo, sunghoon please collect the wrappers.” you pleaded, the duo already hurrying to get the bags. “and lastly jakey and wonnie, can you go out to buy some new garbage bags and cleaning stuff? we are gonna run out i think.” you wondered, looking around the cabinets to find out what was necessary.
after hours of mopping and like ten bags of trash later you finally managed to get the building squeaky clean. “good job guys! i miss the christmas spirit, but i think this little session did wonders to the house! isn’t it nice to have a clean surface to sit down on?” you grinned at them, however they weren’t that happy. “yeah yeah great…” jay said while scratching the back of his head. “i wasted half a day for this…when i could’ve went out to get that ichiran ramen i got from heeseung!” riki added right after, surely not being satisfied with how his holiday came to an end. “i will treat you to a big meal on new year’s eve okay? yall are so dramatic!” you said with a blank expression. “you guys did nothing but eat and play for DAYS…a bit of hygiene doesn’t hurt you know.” sunoo sided with you, happily skipping around the house in the sunshine that was coming in through the big windows. “hah! that’s it for you all, sunny is on my side! i knew you would never let me down!” you ran to him, hugging him tightly to which he responded with a bubbly laugh. “are we gonna argue about this any further or are we gonna finally try to solve that 20000 piece lego set you bought for us?” jungwon asked with a cocked brow, you not even having time to process what happened when sunghoon started screaming. “YEAH FINALLY, THE LEGO!” he quickly grabbed it and poured it out onto the ground, sitting down next to the pieces. “now that i think of it it was a good decision to put away the stuff which has been laying here. now we have all the space for the fun!” heeseung commented, already lowering himself next to hoon. you watched the seven idiots fondly, looking at how their eyes sparkled. “okay big boys, let’s start then!”
bonus:
“YAHHH RIKI DID YOU LOSE THE LAST PIECE?” “I TOLD YOU I HAVEN’T SEEN IT, ARE YOU STUPID?” “HEY! that is not how you talk to the older members!” “it was sunoo’s fault anyways, he was dancing around i bet he kicked it off somewhere…” “I WILL MAKE SURE YOU WILL BE THE ONE KICKED OFF YOU LIAR!” “here we go again…”

The Lovers
The Lovers represent relationships and choices. Its appearance in a spread indicates some decision about an existing relationship, a temptation of the heart, or a choice of potential partners. Often an aspect of the querent's life will have to be sacrificed; a bachelor's lifestyle may be sacrificed and a relationship gaine, or one potential partner may be chosen while another is turned down. Whatever the choice, it should not be made lightly, as the ramifications will be lasting.
Author’s note: hi Happy Halloween friends!! I hope you enjoy this very special spooky chapter set in today! This will be the chapter for the week, so the next part will be out next Wednesday! Have a very spooky day everyone!
Pairings: Jake x reader & Sam x reader

PART 7.5:
TODAY:
HALLOWEEN:
October had finally rolled around. The most glorious month of all time. You danced around your kitchen, the aroma of pumpkin spice cinnamon rolls in your oven filled the air along with a pumpkin cupcake candle you had lit in the living room. Donovan’s Season of the Witch softly played in the background on your record player. The trees had started to turn their magnificent fall colors and the crisp autumn chill crept in. Your grey wool socks slid along the hardwood while your oversized burnt orange sweater tickled your thighs as you swayed around. Jake had just gotten back from two weeks of touring, and in perfect timing. You were making a late breakfast for you two while he showered. You brewed a salted caramel coffee in your keurig and got to work on the white chocolate pumpkin cold foam. This was the only time of year where you enjoyed making your coffee at home. You felt hands wrap around your waist and a smile grew on your face. Jake swayed with you and started peppering kisses along your neck. You dipped your finger in the cold foam and held it up to Jake.
“Try this!”
Jake opened his mouth and sucked the foam off of your finger.
“Oh that’s good. My girl has many talents, now add barista to that list.” Jake says continuing to sway with you.
You laugh and go back to preparing your coffees. It was going to be a beautiful month.
**
You had just landed in Nashville. Excitement was pulsing through your veins, it was the eve of Halloween. Of course there was no one else you would rather spend it with than Jake. You had so much planned in such a short time. Today you would all carve pumpkins, watch horror movies, and go to a haunted house. Tomorrow, it was time, Halloween. You had convinced the guys to throw a Halloween party rather than bar hopping again. They had invited a few local friends in the industry. You were beyond excited. Jake had picked you up, he was delighted to see you even though you saw him last week. Jake had spent most of October with you in Atlanta. You were so caught up with each other that you had neglected Sam a little bit. Daily phone calls turned into weekly phone calls. You felt bad, but you were going to reconcile that this weekend. No matter what you and Jake were, Sam would always hold a soft spot in your heart. When you and Jake arrived at the house you greeted everyone with hugs. Sam looked better than the last time you had seen him, he was wearing a pumpkin grandma sweater that you complimented. Josh made some boozy spiced apple toddies for everyone and the pumpkin carving had commenced.
“Something about Josh’s strong as shit drinks and sharp surgical tools doesn’t sit right with me.” Sam says, taking a sip of his drink.
You laugh at this while Josh holds up his little carving tool fake stabbing and makes the iconic sound from Psycho. Pumpkin carving was successful but everyone was absolutely buzzed from Josh’s drinks. They were delicious, but so strong. You had all ordered an Uber to a nearby haunted house as no one was able to drive. Everyone was in a goofy mood, playing around and rough housing.
“Here’s Jakey!” Jake screams, jumping out from behind the wall and grabbing Danny.
You laugh and shake your head. “Frightening Jake, truly.”
He walks over to you and grabs you by the waist. “Oh baby, I can thrill you more than any ghoul would ever dare to try.”
“Oh yeah? Save it for the haunted house.” You say as Jake attacks you with kisses.
“Uber is here! Onward to the houses of haunts! Spooky creatures around every corner! The devil himself!” Josh proclaims.
“Holy shit we are going to get kicked out.” Sam says, laughing at his older brother.
“I’m with Sam on this.” You say as you look at him and give him a smile.
Sam smiles back ever so slightly at you.
**
The haunted house was a shitshow, but in the best way possible. Josh had stuffed his pants with shooters and kept passing them out to all of you in line. Everyone was too drunk to even think of being scared. Jake had locked you in his arms and everyone had behaved throughout most of the haunted house. Sure, everyone was a little giggly and of course Josh tried to strike up conversations with the actors. All was going smooth until Sam had hit his head on a small dangling ladder prop in the spooky jungle room. Then you all had lost it, laughing and carrying on like you had just seen a comedian. After that you had a guide walk you through the rest of the haunt. You all stayed around the little Halloween village for a little while and took goofy pictures before heading home. Once home you begged everyone to have a sleepover in the living room. It didn’t take too much convincing. Sam and Josh were on snack duty, Danny was rearranging the living room, and you and Jake were the pallet makers. Everyone all gathered on the pillows and blankets in pajamas and watched John Carpenter and Deborah Hill’s Halloween. Sam had busted out the pre-rolls and it turned into the perfect night. You all laid on the pallet and couch wrapped in blankets, passing around the pre-roll, and eating popcorn. Everyone stayed awake for the first movie, but a few fell asleep by the beginning of the second Halloween movie. You weren’t too concerned, every year since you were 7 you had stayed up until midnight on Halloween to ring in the day. Towards the end of the second movie it grew quiet and you had assumed everyone was asleep. Jake was snoring softly laying in your lap. You looked at your phone and it was 11:58pm, almost time now. You kept checking your phone and smiled when the clock struck midnight.
“Happy Halloween sorority girl.”
You turned around and saw Sam eyes heavy, but wearing a smile.
You smile back at him. “Happy Halloween Sammy.”
**
You woke up the next morning to a sweet aroma swirling in the air. You crack your eyes open and you’re still in your pallet wrapped in blankets. You rise up and realize Sam and Danny are still asleep. You enter the kitchen and see Jake making pumpkin spice pancakes. He has a little bit of flower smeared on his face and a dish towel over his shoulder, how cute.
You sit at the island. “Smells good.”
Jake smiles over at you. “Happy Halloween lover.”
You smile back at him. “Where is Josh?”
“Sent him out for coffee while I make breakfast for everyone. Yes, he’s getting your favorite.” Jake says.
“That’s so nice of you. Thank you Jakey.” You say cheesy.
He bows, “Anything for you on your day my love.”
**
The rest of the day consisted of horror movies playing in the background while you all prepped for the party. You made the guys pull out all of the stops for decorations and food. Once you were satisfied with the spooky atmosphere, you decided to get ready. You told Jake to grab what he needed because you wanted a grand reveal. Jake had shown you his costume, he was being a pirate of course. You had no idea what the other guys were being. You gathered all of your costume together and smiled with delight. You were so excited about this one. You decided to do hair and makeup first after you showered. You dried your hair and started putting waves all throughout it, then you added extensions to make your hair even longer and fuller. For makeup you did your usual full face, but exaggerated the contour and blush more. You did purple smokey eyeshadow and did trails of glitter coming from below your eyes. You did a glossy pink lip and you were finished. Your costume consisted of a white puff sleeved crop top that was off the shoulders, a black very mini skirt with a coin belt, black fishnets, and black thigh high boots. You accessorized with a head chain, hoop earrings, a bundle of necklaces, and a plethora of rings with different stones. You grabbed your tarot cards and were ready to show everyone after spritzing perfume. There was about an hour left before people started showing up, so you decided to go downstairs to help with the final touches.
“Goddamnit Sam get your hands off my hunch punch.” You heard Josh say as you made your descent.
“Whew damn.” Jake said when he saw you.
“The queen of Halloween everyone!” Josh shouted.
Sam bowed.
You laughed at them. “Yes I have graced you with my presence! Now can we please light the pumpkins and get some music going?”
“As you wish.” Danny stated. He was dressed as a golfer for Halloween, how on brand for him.
Jake’s pirate costume was very cute and he even adorned a real sword that you would make sure would get put up after a few drinks. Josh was dressed as Shaggy from Scooby Doo, with a little plush Scooby. Sam was Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, wearing a clear raincoat with blood splatter, a fake axe, and his hair slicked back. You were impressed with everyone’s costumes and excited to start the night. But first you had to get pictures before the party really started.
**
About two hours later the house was moderately full. Mostly it was local industry friends and their girlfriends over. You saw a few familiar faces, but didn’t know everyone. Jake had introduced you to a few people as his girlfriend and that made your heart skip a beat, it was the first time you had heard it out loud like that. The music was a combination of older rock music and Halloween hits. Someone had brought a keg, and Josh was doing a keg stand. You and Jake stood by and laughed as they picked him up with ease. Danny and Sam were off having their own conversations, everything was chill but so fun.
“Do you want another?” Jake asked you, motioning towards your drink.
“Absolutely.” You say handing him your cup.
“I’ll be right back.” Jake says, mocking that one scene from Scream.
You watch Jake walk away then you feel a tap on your shoulder. You turn around and see Sam with a girl in a ladybug costume.
“Oh hi.” You say giving them a smile.
“Hi!” The girl says back. “I’m Mari.”
You introduce yourself to her and glance over at Sam wondering who she might be.
“This is one of our recording studio techs.” Sam says motioning to Mari. “And this is the infamous Atlanta girl.” Sam says motioning to you.
“No shit! So you’re Jake’s girlfriend or uh his…” She trails on.
Sam clears his throat.
You laugh lightly at her. “Yes. It’s nice to meet you.”
She smiles at you. “Likewise.”
Then Jake comes back with your drinks. “Oh hi Mari.” Jake says.
“Hey Jake.” She leans over to lightly hug him. “She’s even prettier in person.” She half whispers patting his arm.
Jake huffs a laugh. “I know. Here babe.” Jake says handing you your drink. “Is Alana here?”
You have no idea who Alana is, and a small part of you feels slightly insecure because of it. But you don’t say anything.
Mari huffs. “No, she’s out of town this weekend.”
“Ah what a shame.” Jake says, sipping his drink.
Oh.
“Well I just wanted you guys to meet. I’m in need of another beverage.” Sam says, swishing around his empty white claw.
“I’m right behind ya. It was so nice to finally meet you.” Mari says before taking off with Sam.
**
The rest of the night had been a lot of fun. You and Jake played Josh and Danny in beer pong, and won. You were tipsy but not drunk, there were horror movies playing in the background, and everyone had on a Halloween costume. Jake hadn’t left you except to get drinks all night. His hand was always on you while the other held his drink. You felt blissfully happy. This was the perfect conclusion to your favorite month of all. Then a small commotion broke out across the room from where you were.
“Ah fuck.” Jake said, looking over.
You looked at him curiously. “What?”
“This guy likes to get drunk and try to fight. It looks like Danny might need some help. Give me a minute.” Jake says as he walks toward the scene.
You watch as he starts talking to Danny about what the hell is happening, he’s obviously frustrated. Wouldn’t be a party without some drama you supposed. You sipped your drink and scanned the room. To your left was Sam standing close to the door by himself. You decided to go speak to him.
“Hi Sammy.” You say as you approach him.
He smirks at you. “Ah sorority girl. How is your night?”
“Phenomenally spooky.” You reply. “So you and this Mari girl?” You say nudging his ribs.
He chuckles at this. “Not exactly.”
“Why not? She’s cute.” You say.
Sam turns and looks at you. “She doesn’t exactly like me.”
You huff out. “Oh come on Sammy. You’re a total catch, anyone would be lucky to have you.”
He stares into your face a bit before responding. “I mean obviously, but she isn’t into guys.”
You suck in air at the realization. “Oh.”
“Yeah she has a girlfriend, Alana, who sometimes works in our studio as well. I saw your face drop when Jake said her name. No need to worry there.” Sam says.
So that’s who Alana was. A little relief washes over you, but you're embarrassed that Sam saw right through you.
You fake a laugh. “No clue what you’re talking about, I’m as cool as a cucumber.”
Sam snickers at you. “Oh sure.”
“Well Sammy not to worry. There are plenty of fish in the sea.”
Before he can respond Jake is storming towards you two.
“Sam, can you go help Daniel with that drunk fuck? My patience is thinning.” Jake says, running his finger through his hair.
“Shit. Yeah.” Sam says as he nods at the both of you before heading off.
“Sorry my love. Shall we dance?” Jake says extending his hand to you.
“Absolutely.”
**
As people began to trickle out you had started to wind down as well. Eventually when the music shut off Jake took you upstairs while a small group remained helping clean up.
“What a night.” He said, mildly slurring.
“I’ll say. I had a perfect Halloween Jake.” You said kissing him on the cheek.
“I’m glad baby. I did too. Although I am a little bummed you didn’t get to use your prop.” Jake says motioning to the tarot cards you had sat on the bed.
You giggle a little. “Well I can’t disappoint you. I’m not an actual reader, but I have enough basic knowledge where I can do a one card pull for myself.” You say grabbing the cards and opening the box. “Would you shuffle these for me?”
“Of course.” Jake says taking the cards from you.
Once he has shuffled the cards thoroughly, he hands them back to you. You proceed to spread them out on the bed and stare at them, waiting for one to speak to you. Jake watches you as you reach forward and make your selection. You take a deep breath and flip your card over.
Jake laughs a little. “How perfect.”
But you feel a little weird inside knowing the true nature of the card. You knew that the cards could be interpreted in many ways, so it didn’t necessarily make you worry. It had just felt a little odd. You placed your card down and looked at it once more.
The Lovers stared back at you.

New Beginnings: A Christmas at Disney
Tumblr media
Summary:  Follow up to New Beginnings series- Andy and Briella head to Disney World with Jacob, Ava and Bri’s parents for Christmas. A little bit of Christmas magic mixed with a little bit of Disney magic and you never know what will happen!
Characters: Andy Barber x Briella James (named reader), Ava James, Jacob Barber, and Briella’s parents.
Warnings:  None- FLUFF and lots of sweetness
Word count: 5k (it got away from me!)
**Read the series starting with Ch 1 HERE
A/N: I do not give permission to copy or post my work on any other website or platform. Reblogs are always welcome. Andy Barber and Jacob Barber are characters that do not belong to me. All other characters in this story are my own. Thank you @denisemarieangelina for reading and being my sounding board for all things Disney!
“Slow down, Princess” Andy laughed as Ava all but dragged him towards the entrance to Magic Kingdom. “It’s not going anywhere.”
“Someone sure is excited to get to Disney!” Your mom laughed, walking behind with you, Jacob and your dad.
She wasn’t wrong. Ava had been a ball of excitement since you’d gotten on the plane to fly to Orlando. You were staying on property at the Contemporary Resort, so the Disney magic had started at the airport when you’d boarded the Disney bus to head to the hotel. Once you’d arrived, she’d discovered several gifts on her bed of the hotel, including a breakfast reservation with all of the princesses.
“I can’t be late to meet the princesses! Hurry!” She begged.
“We have plenty of time, Monkey” You assured her, “We have early entry to the park, and breakfast isn’t for another hour.”
That seemed to satisfy her some, as she slowed down at least. You all made your way into the park and started out on Main Street, looking in some of the shops. Soon, it was time to make your way over to breakfast at Cinderella’s Castle. Ava was beyond excited at this point. Jacob walked ahead with her, holding her hand so she didn’t get too far ahead of everyone.
“She’s in heaven.” Andy said, smiling at Ava as she interacted with all of the princesses. “I love seeing her so happy.”
“She’ll be on cloud nine for the rest of the day, and probably the trip.” You agreed.
“This just might be the highlight of her entire year.” Your dad laughed.
After breakfast, you moved through more of the park until lunch time. By then Ava was starting to get tired, so you and Andy took her back to the hotel to rest for a bit. Your parents stayed at the park with Jacob, continuing to explore the park.
Ava was already asleep when you got to the hotel. Andy carried her to the room and gently laid her on the bed.
“We’ll let her recharge her batteries and then we can head back for some more.” You said, “I know she won’t want to miss the parade or the fireworks later.”
While Ava slept, you and Andy ate a light lunch on the balcony of the room and enjoyed some quiet time together. Once Ava woke up, you got her some lunch and the three of you headed back into the park to meet up with Jacob and your parents.
You spend the afternoon going through the park,meeting all the characters, and riding as many rides as possible. By the time the parade begins, you’re convinced Ava and Jacob are both riding a permanent sugar high. You’ve never laughed so much as you did watching the two of them go through Disney together.
You snap lots of pictures of the various floats and characters as they go by. Being Christmastime, all of the floats and characters were decked out in holiday decorations. It made an already magical place, extra special.
“I love that Jake is having just as much fun as Ava, even though he’s a teenager.” Andy said, wrapping arms around you and resting his chin on your head. “I always wanted to bring him, but Laurie never seemed interested.”
“Well, we can make up for lost time now.” You promised, “We can make it our mission to visit during all of the holidays at least once. Or at least visit once in every season.”
“We may need to look at an annual pass,” Andy laughed, “But I’m sure Ava and Jacob would both like that plan.”
“I think you’re right.” You agreed, “They’ve both caught the Disney Magic, and I don’t think there’s a cure.”
“Mommy, when do the fireworks start?” Ava asked, turning to look at you from her perch on a nearby bench. Jacob was standing next to her, ensuring she didn’t fall.
“Soon, Monkey” You replied, “It’s after the light parade and when it gets just a little bit darker.”
“You’re going to love this Ava!” Jacob said, “I watched a YouTube video of it and I bet it’s even better in person!”
Jacob wasn’t wrong, the fireworks show was breathtaking. They were both mesmerized the entire show. You and Andy kept stealing glances at one another from over the tops of the kids’ heads. Once the show was over you started the trek back to the monorail to head back to the hotel. Jacob gave Ava a piggy back ride, as she was beyond exhausted while you and Andy walked behind them, and your parents walked in front of them.
Once back at the hotel, your parents went to their suite next to yours and the four of you headed into your suite. Ava was half asleep on Jacob’s back. Andy carefully lifted her off and carried her to one of the bedrooms.
“Do we need to wake her up to use the bathroom or change?” Andy asked you, gently laying her down on the bed and carefully pulling her shoes off.
“She should be ok as she is.” You replied, smiling at how loving and gentle he was with her.
“I’m going to crash too.” Jacob said, coming in and flopping down onto the other bed. “Thank you for bringing us. Today was a lot of fun.”
“I’m glad you enjoyed it.” Andy smiled at Jacob, “Sorry it took so long to get you here, Pal.”
“It’s better this way.” He replied, “It’ll only be good memories. Not tainted.”
“We love you, Jacob” You said gently, “There’s a lot more happy memories to be made, get some sleep sweetheart.”
You and Andy made your way out of their room, into the sitting area of the suite. He grabbed your hand and gently pulled you to the sofa, sitting down and pulling you into his lap.
“The past 3 months have been so amazing, I keep forgetting he’s still healing and coming to terms with everything that happened.” Andy sighed, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his head against yours. You wound your arms around him, your fingers gently threading in this hair.
“I have no doubt that there’s still a long road to recovery for him, but I can assure you, he’s come so far the last few months.” You reassure him. “He’s resilient, strong, and has a huge heart. He also has an amazing dad in his corner. And now he has Ava and me who will always be there for him, and pseudo grandparents.”
“I love you, Sweetheart.” Andy said, his lips finding your own.
“I love you too, Andy.” You replied between kisses. You both stayed on the couch for a while, enjoying the stillness of the night and being in each other’s arms. Eventually you made your way to the second bedroom in the suite and fell into an exhausted sleep curled into each other.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning was Christmas Eve. You’d all decided to order room service for breakfast before heading to Animal Kingdom for the day.
While waiting on breakfast to get delivered to the room, you and Ava go into the bathroom where you braid her hair for her in an Elsa style braid per her request. Once finished, she goes out to join Jacob to plan out what they want to see that day. You quickly finish getting ready and then join everyone in the common area of the suite.
After the food arrives, you help Andy get it all set up on the table for everyone. While setting the table you and Andy overhear Ava asking Jacob about Santa.
“Jakey,” Ava asked softly, “Will Santa be able to find me here at the hotel? And how will he get in? There’s no fireplace here… and we don’t have stockings or a tree!”
“He knows where we’re at, Kiddo.” He reassured her, “And he’s got magic, remember? He doesn’t need a fireplace to get in.”
“But what about the stockings and the tree?” She asked, not convinced, “Those are still at home.”
“We’re at Disney” He replied, “Between Disney magic and Santa’s magic, I think it’ll be covered.”
“Promise?” She asked, holding out her pinky to Jacob.
“Promise.” he said, linking his pinky with hers.
You looked at Andy, worried. You hadn’t thought about this aspect of being away for Christmas. Of course Ava would be worried about Santa not coming and being upset about not having the tree and stockings up.
“I’ll take care of it.” Andy whispered, reassuring you. He pulled you close and leaned in to kiss your forehead. “Trust me.”
“Always” You replied, smiling.
“Who’s ready for more Disney today?” Your dad said coming in through the suite door. “I hear Animal Kingdom is on tap for the day!”
“ME!” Ava said, jumping up and running over to hug him. “I can’t wait to see the animals and go on the safari! Jacob showed me a video!”
“I’ll bet it’s going to be another fun-filled day!” Your mom said. “And I heard one of the hotel workers say they’re preparing a giant batch of cookies for a certain someone who’ll be stopping by with presents tonight!”
“Really?” Ava asked, “Mommy! We need some of those cookies!”
“I’ll look into it Monkey.” You promised. “Let’s eat so we can get over to Animal Kingdom.”
Once everyone had finished eating you all headed down to the front of the hotel to catch the shuttle bus to Animal Kingdom.
Jacob and Ava wanted to do the safari first when you arrived so you headed over there.
“It’s kinda like when we first met at the zoo.” Jacob said, smiling at Ava. “Not a train, but still cool.”
“That was the best day EVER!” Ava exclaimed, “Mommy and I got  you and Andy that day!”
“You sure did, Princess.” Andy said, smiling lovingly at her. “You and your Mommy captured our hearts that day for sure.”
“Definitely the best day.” You said, wiping a stray tear from your eyes, smiling.
The safari was incredible. It was fun watching Jacob and Ava point out the animals and bonding over animals again.
“Those two have such an amazing bond.” Your mom said once you’d finished the safari. “They remind me of you and your brother when you were little.”
“They really do.” You agreed, “It makes my heart melt watching them together.”
“They’ve definitely already adopted one another.” Andy added. “I love getting to see Jake in a protective big brother role.”
“He’s got the role down pat for sure.” Your dad winked at Andy.
You headed to Pandora the world of Avatar next and spent a few hours there, before grabbing lunch and continuing on to the rest of the park.
You decided to head back to the hotel before dinner time, opting to eat at the hotel rather than Animal Kingdom.
While you headed to the pick up area to catch the bus, Andy nodded at Jacob who smiled and walked ahead with Ava a little bit in order to talk to her.
“It’s time, Kiddo.” He whispered, “Remember what dad wants you to say?”
“Yes!” She whispered back, excitedly. “I need to go to Cinderella’s wishing well and make a wish!”
“Good job.” He smiled at her, “Make sure to really sell it!”
They stopped at the bus pick up and waited for everyone to catch up. The trip back to the hotel didn’t take too long. When they arrived back and got off the bus, Andy winked at Ava over your shoulder.
“MOMMY!” Ava exclaimed, “We have to go back to the Magic Kingdom! I have to go to Cinderella’s wishing well!”
“Ok, Monkey” You said, amused, “We can go back tomorrow.”
“NO!” She insisted, “I have to go TONIGHT! It’s Christmas EVE and Jacob said that Disney magic AND Santa magic are EXTRA special. So I HAVE to make the wish tonight. Pleeeeeaaasssseee?”
“How about we take the monorail and go to the wishing well then just get dinner at the Magic Kingdom tonight?” Andy suggested, “It’s still early enough.”
“We can see if there is availability to eat at Cinderella’s Royal Table.” Your mom suggested, “I know our little Princess would love that.”
“Sounds like fun to me!” Jacob said, “We can see the fireworks show again!”
“Ok then,” You laughed, “I guess we’re not done with Disney today just yet.”
“YAY!” Ava yelled, happily. “Let’s go! Let’s go!” She tugged Jacob’s hand and started moving to the monorail.
“You know we can’t always give in though, right?” You asked Andy, laughing, “We’re creating a monster here.”
“I know, but it’s Christmas.” Andy shrugged, smiling, “And it’s Disney.”
“Wrapped around her little finger.” you laughed
“Possibly.” He agreed. “Come on, let’s go experience some more magic.”
You rode the monorail into the Magic Kingdom and immediately headed towards Cinderella’s wishing well for Ava.
“While we’re here did you want to go on any of the rides again or see anything else?” You asked the kids.
“Nope! Just the wishing well!” Ava said, “And what Nana said for dinner. I like that!”
“I’m good.” Jacob agreed, “We’re doing Epcot tomorrow for Christmas around the world”?
“Yup!” You confirmed, “We’ll do breakfast and presents in the morning and then head to Epcot later.”
“Cool.” he smiled. “There was a shop I kinda wanted to go back to on Main Street if that’s ok on our way out?”
“Of course!” You said, “We can stop after dinner. I may pick up some treats from the candy shop too.”
“Now who has whom wrapped around their finger?” Andy teased you, mimicking your earlier words.
“Hush” You laughed, “Not the same thing.”
“Uh huh.” He nodded, smirking.  “Your argument is weak, my love.”
Once you arrived at the wishing well your mom and dad walked up with Ava and Jacob giving them each coins to toss into the well.
“Andy and Bri, you make wishes too.” Your mom said smiling, her hand holding out two more coins. You and Andy reached over and took the coins.
“You have to hold the coin in your hand really tight” Ava told Jacob, “Squeeze your eyes close and think REALLY hard about what you want to wish for. If you think about it and wish hard enough, it’ll come true!”
Jacob followed her instructions and made his wish, tossing the coin into the well. Ava made her wish next, tossing her coin into the well.
“Your turn Mommy!” Ava said, “Make a wish! Close your eyes REALLY REALLY tight and wish SUPER hard!”
Andy smiled at her, winking. You laughed, then closed your eyes tightly and made a show about really thinking about your wish, wanting to make Ava happy. In reality, you already had everything you could wish for. You finally tossed your coin into the well, opening your eyes.
“Ok, Andy…” You said, turning around to face him, your words getting stuck when you saw him.
While you were making your wish, Andy pulled the ring he’d been holding onto out of his pocket and had dropped down to one knee.
“Everything I could possibly wish for is already right here with me, Bri.” He said, his voice full of emotion. “I never really believed in second chances or in happily ever after until I was lucky enough to meet you and Ava. I was determined to be the best dad I could to Jacob and make our own happiness. We moved here for a fresh start, and I was given that and so much more. You embraced Jacob and he immediately started healing, and finding himself again. I was probably already half in love with you when we met for that reason alone. I fell completely in love with you the day in the zoo. Watching you with Ava and Jacob, I knew that’s what a mother’s love was supposed to look like. My heart was also captured by a little Princess that day. Bri, I love you completely with everything that I am. I love Ava as if she were my own. I love our little family that we’ve created. I want nothing more than to spend the rest of our lives together, raising these two crazy kids, and any more that may come along.”
You wiped at the tears now steadily streaming down your face at his words. Your heart bursting with love for him.
“Briella James, will you marry me?” Andy asked, smiling up at you, his eyes brimming with love for you.
“YES!” You exclaimed happily through your tears. Andy slipped the ring on your finger and then stood up, pulling you to him and kissing you.
You could hear loud applause all around from your parents, Jacob and Ava, but also from many strangers who had witnessed the proposal.
“I love you too, Andy.” You said when you could regained your composure. “More than I can possibly put into words.”
“Congratulations you two!” Your mom and dad said, coming over to hug you. Ava bounded over and threw herself into Andy’s arms hugging him tightly.
“I’m really glad you said yes.” Jacob said hugging you, “I mean I figured you would, but I’m still really glad. I love you Bri.”
“I love you too, Jacob.” You replied, a fresh wave of tears springing to your eyes.
“My wish came true!” Ave laughed happily, “Jacob was right! Disney magic and Christmas magic together makes the wish more powerful!”
“We have reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table in 20 minutes.” Your dad said, winking at you. “Let’s get some pictures and then we can head over.”
Your parents snapped pictures of you and Andy and then of you both with the kids before a very helpful cast member came over and offered to take a picture of everyone together. One you were done with pictures, you made your way to dinner.
Like the princess breakfast, Ava was enamored by everything at dinner. It was fun to see her so excited. You kept sneaking peeks at your left hand, smiling whenever you saw your ring. Andy saw you looking and smiled widely.
After dinner, you all went to the shops on Main Street for some last minute shopping. Once you were all done you decided to skip the fireworks show again and head back to the hotel. Ava was anxious to pick up cookies and place them out for Santa and it had been a very eventful day.
The trip back was quick as most people were staying until the park closed. When you entered the hotel you took Ava to go get some cookies while everyone else headed up to the rooms. You knew Andy had something planned for her, but he hadn’t let you in on exactly what the surprise was.
Once Ava picked out the perfect cookies for Santa you headed up to the suite. When you walked in you both let out surprised gasps. While you’d been gone today, your suite had been turned into a Christmas wonderland. It could almost rival the North Pole. In one corner of the common space, a large tree had been set up and decorated. Garland was strung around the suite, what looked like mistletoe was hung by the balcony doors and on one wall, stockings were hung. The stockings were all Disney themed and had everyone’s names embroidered on them.
“MOMMY!” Ava exclaimed, “It’s BEAUTIFUL!”
“It really is, Monkey.” You agreed, “It’s perfect.” You looked over at Andy, smiling. You walked over to him and wrapped your arms around him, pulling him down so you could kiss him.  “Thank you.” You whispered.
“Of course,” he replied, kissing you back. “Anything to put a smile on our Princess’ face.”
Jacob helped Ava get the cookies on a plate and placed a small carton of Milk next to it with a note. Ava had written the note to Santa earlier in the day and sealed it in a hotel envelope so we couldn’t see it. She insisted it was for Santa only.
“Alright, Princess,” Andy said, “Time to get ready for bed and head off to dreamland so Santa can come.”
“Ok!” She said, hopping up and heading into the bathroom to brush her teeth and change.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen her that willing to go to bed before.” You laughed.
Your parents said goodnight and headed to their room, and Jacob went and got ready for bed after Ava was finished.
When both kids were ready for bed you went in to tuck Ava into bed.
“Mommy, can Jacob read me a bedtime story first?” Ava asked.
“That’s up to him, Monkey.” You said, “But off to sleep you go after one story.”
“I’ll read to you, Kiddo.” Jacob agreed. “Goodnight Bri.”
“Goodnight Jacob,” You smiled, “You’re already such an amazing big brother.”
“She makes it easy.” He shrugged, smiling bashfully.
“Good night Mommy!” Ava said, “I love you!”
“Goodnight, Monkey.” You replied, “I love you too. And I love you, Jacob.”
“Love you too.” He said smiling and grabbing a book to read to Ava.
You backed out of their room, quietly closing the door, and headed to your room to change and help Andy get everything set up for Ava for morning from Santa.
“Just when I think I can’t possibly love you any more than I already do, you go and prove me wrong.” You said wrapping your arms around Andy’s waist from behind and dropping a kiss on his shoulder blade. He turned in your arms and cupped your face gently in his hands, leaning down to kiss you softly.
“I love you too, Sweetheart.” He replied, leaning in to capture your lips again.
“How did I get so lucky that I get forever with you, my incredible fiance?” You asked.
“The luck is all mine, my beautiful future wife.” He replied.
Smiling, you both set to work filling stockings and getting all the gifts and Santa gifts under the tree. When you were about done, you noticed Andy pulling a small box out of a Disney bag that you didn’t remember picking up.
“I wanted to ask you something.” Andy said, looking almost as nervous as when he proposed.
“I already said, ‘Yes’.” You teased him.
“And I’m really glad you did, or this would be super awkward” He laughed, letting out a breath he’d been holding and sitting down on the bed. “I saw this necklace the day that I found your ring, and immediately knew I was going to get it for Ava. I know that by getting married, we are both gaining another child. I love Ava as if she were already mine, and I wanted to ask you, before asking her, if once we’re married, if I could legally adopt her? I want her to officially be my daughter.”
“Andy, of course you can!” You said, wrapping your arms around his neck and kissing him. “I love that you love her and want to adopt her. And I know she’ll be ecstatic when you ask her. She already looks at you like her dad.”
“Think she’ll like the necklace?” He asked, opening the box to show you. Inside the box was a delicate silver chain with a locket and tiara charm. You carefully opened the locket and inside there was a tiny picture of the two of them that’d been taken at her birthday party on one side and on the other side it said ‘Daddy’s Princess’.
“She will love it.” You confirmed, “Almost as much as she already loves you.” You put the necklace back into the box and wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him down to kiss him. “You’re perfect, my love.”
“Far from perfect, but given a lifetime with you, I may get closer to it.” He replied.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning you were woken up to Ava bounding into your room and jumping onto the bed.
“SANTA CAME!” She exclaimed, “WAKE UP! WAKE UP! IT’S CHRISTMAS!”
“We’re awake, Princess.” Andy laughed, grabbing her and pulling her down between the two of you, tickling her. “Give us a minute and we’ll be right out to see what Santa left for you.”
“HURRY!” She ordered, laughing and running off into the common area.
“Guess that’s our wake up call.” You laughed, looking at the clock next to the bed. “At least she waited until 6:30. Last year she had me up at 5.”
“I have a feeling Jacob may have been keeping her contained for a bit.” Andy guessed.
“That would make more sense.” You agreed, “Let’s go before she comes back in.”
The two of you made your way out the other room. You stopped quickly to start coffee on your way.
“Ok, dig into the stockings” You said, “Everything else waits until Nana and Papa are over here.”
You all looked through your stockings, loving the variety of treats, and small gifts that filled each one. While you were all engaged in stockings your parents came over and joined you all.
“YAY!” Ava said happily, running over to hug her grandparents. “Nana and Papa are here so we can open ALL the presents!”
“To be young and have that much energy again.” Your dad laughed.
“You’re not wrong.” Andy agreed, “If we could bottle an ounce of her energy we could make millions.”
“I don’t know if I could even handle THAT much energy.” Your mom replied.
“Alright Monkey, we’ll do presents and then breakfast” You said.
Lots of paper and ribbons later, you were down to the last couple of gifts. Jacob handed you a package at the same time that Andy handed Ava the small box.
“This is for you Princess.” Andy said. He sat down next to hear while she tore the wrapping off and opened the box.
“It’s BEAUTIFUL!” She exclaimed, beaming at Andy. “Thank you so much!”
“Open it, Monkey.” You encouraged her, tears already filling your eyes. Knowing something big was about to happen, your mom had her cell phone out recording the moment.
Ava carefully opened up the locket and saw the picture of her and Andy from her party. She was still new with reading but was good at sounding things out, and could recognize words she was more familiar with, so you weren’t surprised when she was able to read the inside of the locket.
“Daddy’s Little Princess.” She read aloud, slowly and quietly. She paused for a moment, then looked up at Andy, then to you. You nodded to her encouragingly. “You… want to be my... Daddy?”
“I very much want to be your Daddy, Princess.” Andy said, his voice thick with  emotion, “If that’s OK with you?”
“YES!” She exclaimed, launching herself into his arms, her own winding around his neck tightly. “I love you, Daddy!”
“I love you too, Princess.” He replied, tears slipping down his cheeks. Your own were wet with tears, as well. Your heart was bursting with happiness. “Your mommy and I talked and she said that I could adopt you. That means officially you’ll be my daughter too, and as soon as Mommy and I are married, we can change both hers and your last name to Barber.”
“And Jacob will be my brother for REAL?” She asked happily.
“I’m already your brother for real Kiddo.” Jacob said coming over to hug her.
“Yes he is.” Andy confirmed.
“Bri, open yours next.” Jacob said.
You smiled, picking up the package again and carefully unwrapping it. You opened the box and moved the tissue paper aside. Nestled in the paper was a bracelet with several charms on it. You looked at the charms closely, tears once more springing to your eyes.  In the middle was a charm that said ‘Mom’, with the O being minnie mouse. On each side of that charm were birthstone charms. One for Ava and one for Jacob.
“Jacob…” you said, your voice horse from emotion, “this is so beautiful. Thank You!” You reach over and pull him into a hug.
“There’s more” he whispered as he hugged you back. He pulled away and you looked back down into the box. Tucked in with the bracelet was a folded up piece of paper. You took it out, carefully unfolding it. After the first few lines you read you realized what you were reading. Your head shot up and you caught Andy’s eye over Jacob’s head. He had tears still gathered in his eyes and he nodded slightly, letting you know he knew about the paper. You assumed Andy had been responsible for having the paper formally drafted, but it was a petition of adoption.
“Jacob…” You said, “If you’re sure this is what you want, I would be honored to adopt you and be your mom. I love you, Sweetheart.”
“I’m sure.” He said firmly, “I love you too. You’ve been more of a mom to me in the last 5 months than my biological mother was in 14 years. I know what a mom is supposed to be since I met you.”
You hugged him tightly, as though you could put all his pieces back together again in that one hug. You knew it would take time, but you swore you’d help to undo the damage that Laurie had done to him.
“I think this has been the best Christmas in a long time.” Your dad said, voice breaking with emotion.
“There’s only the best yet to come.” Andy said, sitting next to you and Jacob with Ava on his lap.
“Papa is right!” Ava declared, “I wished on my birthday candles that we’d be a real family, and then I asked Santa this year to make Andy my Daddy and Jacob my big brother!”
“It looks like the birthday Fairy and Santa delivered then huh, Monkey?” You said, beaming at your daughter.
“Yup!” She agreed. “I think next, I’ll wish for a baby brother or sister!” Everyone burst out laughing. You and Andy looked at each other over her head, you’re sure your eyes were as big as saucers. He just winked and smiled.

Boyf riends for the winter asks! All of them!
ALL OF THEM AAAAA okay LETS DO THIS
1: Who makes the other hot chocolate? Michael bc he doesn’t trust Jeremy on the kitchen alone but he pretends this is not the real reason
2: Who knits the other a seasonal sweater? I think Jeremy would TRY and it would end up like a mess but Michael thinks it’s funny and appreciates the effort
3: Who’s family hosts a bigger holiday gathering? What’s the gathering like for your OTP? MICHAEL’S!!! His moms would make a great party cuz we all know how lesbian couples make the best parties ever, there’d be a lot of food and fun games, Jeremy would bring his father too so he doesn’t spend the day alone and he loves it. Jeremy and Michael would spend a lot of time taking pics cuz Michael’s moms wouldn’t shut up about how cute they look, after that they eat with their families and somehow convince them to let the two go to the basement and play video-games 🖤 (okay maybe I need to write a boyf riends holiday fic)
4: How would your OTP react to having a snow day? They usually spend their days playing video games but sometimes one of them would be like “okay you won this, but can you win in a snowball fight?? ITS A BET”
5: Who offers the other one their jacket? Hmmm I think Michael cuz he feels the need to protect Jeremy since the SQUIP incident, even if “protect” is just offering a jacket during a cold day
6: Who makes a snowman that looks like the other member of your OTP, or do they both do this? BOTH!!! Am I wrong?? You gonna tell me that I’m wrong??
7: Does your OTP ever have snowball fights? YES!!! And they get REALLY competitive about (usually Jeremy starts being competitive and Michael is like “OH NO YOU THINK YOU GONNA WIN THIS??”)
8: What gifts would they get each other for the holidays? How they are both huge nerds (or geeks, as Jeremy’d say) their gifts would definitely be video game or pop culture in general related, like a pac-man t-shirt (if they don’t have much money) or a Star Wars action figure (when they really want to spoil the other)
9: How do they spend their winter holiday? Do they even celebrate the same holiday? I think both Jeremy and Michael celebrate Christmas, their families would celebrate together at Michael’s.
10: What sort of seasonal treats does your OTP like to eat? Michael enjoys all that cute peppermint cookies that look like a snowman or a Christmas tree and Jeremy is like “dude, that’s so gay” and Michael “yeah, Jeremy, I’m gay, we’ve been dating for almost six months”
11: How do they spend New Year’s Eve? PARTY AT JAKEY D! All their friends are there, Rich, Christine, Brooke, Chloe, Jenna...
12: Who initiates the New Year’s kiss? Michael!!! But it’s a quick closed mouth kiss and then Jeremy just goes for a REAL KISS after that. Rich would be screaming “GET A ROOM”
13: Who tries to get a secret gift for the other one for Valentine’s Day? Jeremyyyyy, but he tries so hard to make it a secret he gets anxious and Michael finds out (but pretends he doesn’t to make Jeremy happy)
14: Would your OTP take a walk together in the snow? Not much, they prefer to stay indoors, but sometimes they’d take a walk just to be like those couples in movies and make fun of it (Michael really enjoys it tho, but won’t admit)
15: Which one gets more excited over the first snow of winter? I think Michael, but only over the first snow, after a week he’s like “okay we get it you can stop now”

chapter three: head over feet
(the latest instalment of we’re the fortunate ones - my entry into the 2020 Vision Challenge) ♥️🎆
Jake takes a long draft from the bottle of beer in his hand, resting his weight against the pillar in the middle of the room as he watches Amy talk to other attendees of the party in a corner.
They’d all been roped into attending a New Years Eve party at this random loft in uptown NY, hosted by somebody that Gina called an acquaintance but didn’t seem to have a name (or a face, for that matter).  It was all very upscale, the widespread apartment floor decked out in hipster-luxe decorations and soft popular music streaming from the speakers installed into various points of the ceiling.  The well-stocked kitchen lay claim to copious buckets of alcohol - a virtual buffet of drinks lay waiting for consumption - and the Nine-Nine has spent the majority of their evening rubbing noses with a veritable ‘who’s who’ of New York.  He’s covered head to toe in a suit that - let’s be honest - makes him look way more suave than he is.  And maybe Jake is completely biased (because he definitely is), but he’s certain that Amy is by far the best dressed in the room.  Heck, best dressed in the CITY.
Her dress is black, covered in this mystical shimmery material that seems to catch the light whenever she moves her body, and like a moth to a flame Jake is completely drawn to it.  There’s a smokiness to her eyes (and he doesn’t even know if that’s the correct term but wow those brown eyes of hers are drawing him in when they’re surrounded like that) and her lips are covered in a hot red lipstick, the kind that doesn’t seem to end up on his lips when she kisses him - a theory that he’s been oh so happy to test over and over.  Her hair is soft and wavy and perfect, just as perfect as she is, and Jake genuinely still cannot believe that Amy Santiago is his girlfriend.
It had taken him less than six days of being with her to figure out that what they had was different from all his past relationships.  To realise that until that kiss in the evidence lock-up, he had spent his whole life waiting for the rest of it to begin.  Everything before that afternoon was Pre-Amy; where things were okay but often disappointing, and his days were best spent alone.
Now, his life was entirely with Amy:  where mornings began with sleepy cuddles and regardless of whatever the day would bring, there was always going to be her at the end of it.  A crazy intelligent, incredibly sexy woman with a heart of gold; whom’s opinion meant far more to him than anybody else’s.
And a life Post-Amy?  Not gonna happen.  Jake would rather quit the force than consider it.  He’d had a gun pointed at his head a week ago, and her face had been the only thing to flash through his mind.  There have been very few times in Jake’s life where he’s been grateful for Boyle’s ability to appear unannounced, but that evening at Goodwin’s was absolutely at the top of the list.  Thanks to Charles, Jake had been able to wake up Christmas morning with the most beautiful woman in New York laying next to him, and that was honestly better than a thousand bottles of Heart Attack Soda.
She catches his eye from her position across the room, blushing slightly underneath his gaze before turning her attention back to the two other guests she had been talking to.  Jake stands a little taller and waits, knowing that her curiosity will grow too great, and after a beat her gorgeous eyes flicker back towards him and he smiles in victory, nodding his head towards the outside balcony in a wordless invitation.  Tonight has been great, but the countdown to midnight is creeping closer, and there isn’t anybody else in the world he wants to share his first moments of the new year with.
Amy turns her head back towards the woman to her left, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear before nodding vigorously, still giving the illusion of the others having her full attention because Santiago’s are nothing if not gracious guests at any party.  But it’s the only signal Jake needs to rest his now empty bottle of beer on a nearby table and head towards the balcony, shifting a nearby potted plant in front of the doorway as a hopeful deterrent to others.
It only takes her a few minutes to join him, and Jake can smell her perfume before he can see her, the warm smell of spiced vanilla pulling his attention away from the glittering city lights below.
“Pot plant blockage, nice move detective.”  Amy’s smile is coy, reaching out to smooth the tie he had begrudgingly put on earlier in the evening.
Jake captures her hand as it moves to leave, pulling her palm up towards his lips and leaving a soft kiss against her skin.  “Do you think it’ll work?”
Her fingers curl around his, tugging him a little closer as she shrugs.  “It might.”  Taking a sip from her champagne glass, she winks.  “That, and just before I left I mentioned how good the fireworks were going to look from that balcony on the other side.”  Tipping the glass further back, she drains it all before continuing.  “There’s a whole crowd heading that way as we speak.”
Jake nods in approval, taking the empty glass from Amy’s hand and sitting it on top of the heavy brick balustrade.  “Genius.  My girlfriend’s a genius.”
“Damn right she is.”
“And gorgeous.”
“Oh, yeah?”
“Uh, YEAH.”  Jake raises his eyebrows incredulously, lowering them with his voice as he wraps both hands around Amy’s waist.  “And kinda amazing.  Also?  Brilliantly nerdy, and sexy. as. hell.”
Amy looks up at him with the softest smile on his face, a look similar to earlier today when she snoozed her alarm (something she’s begun doing with increased regularity, not that he will ever bring that to her attention), cuddled into Jake’s side and rested in the nook between his neck and his shoulders.  It’s a place that has become her nook - a place that feels empty when she’s not there - and she gave him the same smile as now when the alarm blared ten minutes later, and Jake was forced to finally open his eyes.
There are a thousand things he could say right now, about how much Amy has changed his life for the better, but then her hands wander down his chest, diving underneath his jacket and wrapping around his midsection, and Jake finds himself completely lost for anything to say except the one thing that completely terrifies him.
He loves her.  There’s no question about it.  He’s probably been in love with her for longer than he can remember, but his heart had caught up with his head somewhere around October and for the longest time there have been three little words bubbling up to the top of his throat, threatening release every time Amy looks at him the way she does.  It was different, this feeling - an all-consuming, undeniable force that has changed everything for the better, serving to remind him that whatever notion he had thought love to be before he’d started dating Amy had been completely wrong.
Emotions have never been comfortable for him; love has always seemed like a mysterious force before now, and he hates the defeated look that flashes across her face whenever she gets serious with her feelings and his doofus brain responds with a noice or a smort.  Amy deserves better than smort and - in further proof that she is, in fact, incredible - being with her has made Jake begin to believe that perhaps he can be honest with her about how he feels, and not fear the response.  To tell her he loves her without masking it with a joke, or adding it into a ramble that steers her away from the importance of what he’s truly saying.
Amy head rests against his chest and sighs contentedly, squeezing Jake softly.  “Tonight has been fun, but this right here has been the best part by far.”  He nods, throat heavy with unspoken words;  letting his hands roam over the back of her dress and dipping to the small of her back before pulling her closer.  The rest of the world can have all their sparklers and streamers; no amount of revelry could ever compare to this.  This moment was all he could have hoped for, and he’s endlessly grateful to be able to say that it’s finally his.
In the distance Jake can hear the rest of the crowd counting down the final seconds, and as the world fades into the background with the muted sound of “eight, seven, six” he looks down to Amy, resting one finger underneath her chin and tipping her face to his.  Her eyes are sparkling, catching the light from the party still happening inside, and he doesn’t know how she’s done it but it’s just further proof that she is magic and before another thought can be made, her hands are on his jawline, pulling Jake down until his lips meet hers for the kind of kiss he’s been waiting his whole life for.
The crowd cheers, the renewal of another year long forgotten as their tongues tangle sweetly, arms locked around each other.  Resolutions of catching bandits and jumping from rooftops fall by the wayside as Amy’s fingers run through Jake’s hair, and the only promise he makes for the new year is make sure Amy knows how I really feel about her.
It’s a blinding bright flash of light that separates them, both blinking in confusion as they seperate and turn their heads towards the doorway it has come from.  Boyle is standing there, because of course he is, his grin wider than the Hudson as he lifts a polaroid camera in glee, snatching the photograph from the front and blowing gently onto the developing film.
“Happy New Year, lovebirds!”
“Ugh, Boyle!  How did you even know we were out here?!”  Jake responds.  He’s not ready to let go of Amy just yet, instead choosing to tighten his grip around her waist.  She shuffles a little closer in kind, resting her weight against him and presenting a united front as they stare down their friend.
“I sensed there was a precious moment happening somewhere around here, Jakey, and let me tell you - I was not wrong.  I am SO high on your relationship it’s ridiculous.  I cannot wait to frame this photo and put it on my desk, where I can stare at always!”
“Jake!” Amy whispers, soft enough that only Jake can hear, and he flattens one hand her back.
“I’m sure it’s a great shot buddy, how bout you come over here and show it to us?”  Jake calls out to Boyle, throwing him his best ‘come over here and join us, we’re not angry at ALL that you ruined our private moment’ face.  It must have been convincing enough, and Charles scurries towards them, gripping the polaroid tightly in his dominant hand.
Jake waits until Charles is close enough to feel comfortable before snatching the photo from his fingers, shifting his body (and by proxy, Amy’s) towards the light of the apartment as he examines it carefully.
Admittedly, it’s a great shot - the two of them so wrapped up in each other that it’s hard to tell where Jake’s suit ends and Amy’s dress begins, save for the subtle sparkle of her outfit.  Her head is tipped up where his is tipped down - the towering heels that Amy had chosen for the evening making the distance between them seem just that little bit smaller - and they are completely and totally lost in their kiss.  It’s as plain as day that the two people in this photograph are in love, and Jake can’t help but smile as he takes it all in.  “I’ve gotta hand it to you, Boyle.  It’s a great photo.”
Charles nods eagerly, eyes widening into a mixture of confusion and horror as Jake flicks his wrist, tucking the polaroid into the inner pocket of his jacket lining, tapping the outside protectively as he goes.  “Wait, no!  That was going to - ” he huffs in frustration.  “If you guys want me to stop staring at you in the precinct, then you need to give me an alternative, Jake!”
“How about a selfie?”  Amy pipes up, pulling slightly away from Jake and resting her hand above his jacket’s breast pocket.  “One of all three of us, to commemorate the evening.  I think that would look great on your desk, Charles.”
Genius, Jake mouths in Amy’s direction as Boyle squeals in glee, quickly jumping into position in front of the couple and holding the camera up high.  Their smiles are wide, the genuine happiness palpable through the film as they seperate, Jake linking his hand with Amy’s and letting Boyle lead them back into the party.  Their friends were inside after all, waiting to celebrate the new year with them, and they could definitely sneak out of the party later once Four Drink Amy made her return appearance.
Jake had no idea what the new year would bring, but he had the strongest instinct that whatever would happen, he and Amy would face it all together.

Chapter 14 : Is this your gift ?
The evening went on pleasantly, as always when we were together. Mandy told us about her making out with a boy at New Year's Eve and awful uncle jokes at Christmas. Josh shared more embarrassing highschool stories from the time he was a theater kid, that Jake obviously wasn't aware of until now. The long haired guitarist seemed to feel better now, or at least his mind was focusing on something else than his breakup, adding his contribution to Josh's anecdotes and laughing alongside us when his brother shared some shameful memories of him. Both of us were tightly wrapped on a blanket after having dried ourselves the best we could. I could still feel the fabric of my dress sticking to my skin in an uncomfortable way, whereas Jake didn't bother further with his damp shirt and had completely removed it for a new one. It was his room after all. And just for the record, the knowing smile Josh had given me when his brother was shirtless had been enough to prevent me from peaking.
When night dusked on us, the boys not only decided to serve eggnog and hot tea/coffee to keep us warm, but also to get their respective guitars out of their cases, owning surprised glances from Mandy and I.
- Do you own a guitar, Josh ?
- Now I know last time I said playing the guitar wasn't one of my many talents, but with the help of Jakey here, he gestured, I think it's safe to say it is now.
- Yeah let's not get ahead of ourselves here, added the brunette.
Sitting on the carpet with my cup of hot tea/coffee warming my hands and the blanket still on my shoulders, I let my back rest against Jake's bed while intently watching him place his accoustic guitar on his thighs, making sure it was in tune. Seeing Josh study his brother while imitating him like a good student made me smile, it was a cute sight. He was very serious about it, they both were about music, there was no denying that. The boys must've played this song before because no one exchanged a word on what they were about to play and yet when Jake whispered « 1, 2, 3, 4... » and began playing, Josh joined in the soft and slow melody, letting it caress our ears. The cosy atmosphere instantly put me at ease, the warmth and softness of the blanket in addition to the boys playing together was about to lull me to sleep. It was Jake's singing voice that put me out of my drowse. Similar to his brother yet lower and rougher, less experienced and more hesitant. His eyes stayed on his guitar strings when he sang the first lyrics of John Lennon's Happy Xmas, while I kept watching him, mouth slightly agape. Josh joined in, his singing experience more fitted to sing the acute and angelic's choir part, as he continued to glance at his brother's fingers dancing on the strings to make sure he was doing it right. The boy looked so proud by the end of the song, biting his lip with an expecting glance that made Mandy and I applaud and congratulate him.
- Okay, you're making me blush, let's listen to some music !
As time went by, Josh was getting a little bit too excited about the gifts under the tree. Like a child, he would pass by it multiple times, eyes hypnotized by the colorful wrapping paper and the ribbons on top, trying to guess what was inside. It's when Jake had finally enough of seeing him circle around them like a Christmas vulture (his words, not mine) that he declared it was time for us to exchange presents. And as I should've known, Josh was more excited about Mandy and I receiving our gifts than the other way around. He wanted to see our faces so much he had prepared his polaroïd camera for the occasion. Was it that good ? His eagerness and enthusiasm got into me and I could barely wait for him to be ready when he handed us both a small, messily wrapped, rectangular package. Once he was crouching in front of us with his face glued to the camera, Josh announced for us to start unwrapping. Decorating gifts really wasn't part of his qualifications. Everything fell apart when I pulled the ribbon, the paper opening its folds around my hand like a flower, delicately displaying the present in its heart. It was a black, red and green CD titled Greta Van Fleet, the name of their band. Seeking answers, my head shot up to Josh flashing my confused figure, while Jake simply smiled behind his cup of tea.
- You guys it's an album... W-When ? How ?
- Just to be clear, it's not a big deal, clarified Jake.
Josh put his camera aside, his bashful look glancing up from Mandy to me, before nervously scratching the back of his neck.
- Remember when you said you wanted to hear our songs again ? Well we had planned to record ourselves someday anyway so these are for you.
My heart instantly began to grow warm as a large grin spread itself on my lips, eyes fixated on the CD, the design of it, and the songs' titles. It made me so incredibly happy and giggly that they had thought about it, and took the time to make a copy for Mandy and I. And I was so proud of them for being so passionate about their music. Even if Jake made clear it wasn't anything official nor important, it still was so effing cool to hold their first album into my  own two hands. I couldn't wait to listen to it, and put the tracks on my phone to keep me company during my mornings in the workshop.
- Thank you so much, I smiled before hugging them both.
- How can you even find the time to record an album ? On a Christmas Holiday !
Mandy's comment made them laugh, but she was right, the boys couldn't stay home without something to do, or so it seemed. We didn't define a particular order for the gifts so Mandy offered hers after Josh, throwing a small and soft package to him, and handing the heavy one that was Jake's. Colorful kneesocks and a bottle of whisky, which they didn't wait to try on, of course. Josh immediately got into the kitchen to change to shorts so we could see his socks, and Jake poured himself a glass of whisky, switching between his two glasses.
- Okay doll, your turn.
- So, just in case you were wondering, Mandy and I already exchanged gifts because we saw each other during the holidays, I explained while handing them both a neatly wrapped package. So these are yours.
Seeing the boys squeeze and shake the gifts to try and figure what was inside made me more nervous than I had anticipated. I looked sheepish, in the middle of the room, sitting on the ground with my butt on my ankles, patiently waiting for them to stop with the suspenseful atmosphere and just rip the paper off their gifts. Josh was the first to give in to curiosity and was in my arms the next moment, thanking me for the gloves. It seemed like my friend and I raised the same concern about Josh's winter attire. Like he did with her, the boy kissed my cheek before trying them on, while Mandy took pictures, letting the polaroïd photos fall on the comfy carpet. Turning my head to Jake sitting on his bed, I couldn't really decipher his expression. A tiny black box was open in his hand, eyes caressing the ring on it like he wouldn't dare touching it. Suddenly feeling bashful, I understood it was time for me to explain myself regarding my choice of gifts, so I stood up, and carefully took place next to him.
- You forgot your rings at my dorm the other day, I said softly. I always see you wearing tons of them, so I figured I'd take this opportunity to buy you a new one... and also because the black one fell behind the fridge and I can't get it.
A small, nervous giggle escaped my throat. I wanted him to know that, like their album, it wasn't a big deal. I hadn't given it much thought when I chose to buy him a ring, there was no promise nor engagement behind it, just... Me thinking he would like another one of those. Or did I ?  Interromping my rambling, Jake's hand squeezed my thigh and his eyes found mine, face affectionate, smile warm.
- Thank you. I love it.
My face grew uncomfortably hot as we just stared at each other, with his long calloused fingers resting on my knee, long enough for me to start squirming on the bed. This sudden proximity was already making me a nervous wreck, so I abruptly stood up, nearly knocking my head on Josh's bed in the process.
- Right, your rings, here.
Opening his hand, I placed the three of them in it, enjoying the feeling of my fingers caressing his, before turning on my heels to get another drink. The other two must've noticed, because in the corner of my eye I saw them exchanging a knowing yet skittish glance. And I didn't even wanted to think about what these gremlins were up to, not that I had the time to do so anyway because it was Jake's turn to get on his feet and grab his paper bag, placing thin boxes in Mandy and I's hands.  Already knowing what he bought my roommie, I waited a bit to see her reaction when opening the box. And her reaction to the jewelry was great, she screamed excitedly, jumped and hugged Jake in a tight embrace but... I kept staring at the silver bracelet Josh was tying for her while confusion swept over me. It wasn't the one he had chosen.
- Won't you open yours ?
Jake's low voice was in my ear, making it instantly redden as if every part of my body agreed to fall under his charm. Doe eyed and taken aback by his sudden closeness, Jake’s hands found mine, making them slide on the smooth material, guiding them to open the box, glancing up at me when they did, studying my reaction. When my eyes landed on the gift, the thumping of my heart was so loud I got scared for a second he could hear me. It was the necklace he bought the other day. Even more confused, I searched in his brown pupils for an answer I didn't receive, fingertips shakily holding the box.
- Do you want me to put it on for you ?, his husky voice murmured.
Maybe my body went on auto pilot mode because the next thing I knew, his fingertips delicately put my hair back and caressed the sensitive skin of my neck to attach the purple necklace, his hair tickling me in the process. Jake took a moment to admire the sight in front of him, a smile on his face.
- I was right, it looks good on you.
- Thank you, I murmured, feeling shy.
It was all too overwelming. The present, our newfound intimacy, his gaze scrutinizing me, his breakup... It made me feel several ways all at once, something I wasn't quite ready for, and hadn't expected when I came here to party with friends. Josh must've known about the Mina situation because he didn't interfere once this evening, letting us grow accustomed to each other's presence, trying to test the waters like two strays encountering each other in the purest way imaginable. Like we were meeting for the first time. And while we kept looking into each other's eyes for an unspoken truth, the sound of music woke us from our transe. Josh had begun chanting along the slow song, quietly but confidently, sharing the joint he had lit up with Mandy, taking her hand in his, making her sway gently in the room.
Stars shining bright above you,
Night breezes seem to whisper « I love you ».
Birds singing in the sycamore trees,
Dream a little dream of me.
We watched them dance in silence in the dimmed lit room before Jake offered me his hand, the ring I had bought him reflecting the candles' light, shining bright. I gave him mine, and his arm found its way in the small of my back, pressing our bodies closer to each other, eyes never leaving mine. My dress was still a little bit damp, but he didn't seem to care, more engrossed in making me sway smoothly than everything else. And my whole being was so captivated by him that I couldn't care less about anything else happening around us. We were in our own little bubble, Josh's voice the only thing reminding us we weren't the only two people in the world. I didn't know how long it lasted, probably 3 to 4 minutes, the lenght of the song, but my eyes kept looking at him, lost in the brown ocean of his pupils. His embrace kept me warm, both inside and out, and I couldn't help a sheepish grin from adorning my features, showcasing the blush on my cheeks. Too absorbed himself, Jake sometimes bumped against furniture, or tripped on the carpet, but then we smiled, and continued dancing. I could tell we both were at ease with each other, his touch felt natural, like our skins were meant to connect. It made me think of the last time we were here together, on his bed, sharing our knowledge about stars and comets. The only star I could see now was him, shining oh so bright just in front of me, beautiful.
It all came to a stop when the song ended, filling the room with silence. Our eye contact continued, intense and questionning, as we got back to Earth, arms still tangled together. From afar, I could hear Josh changing the record, talking to Mandy, but everything seemed like a distant mumble to my ears.
- Would you mind ?
It was Josh, shaking us awake, making us hurriedly let go of each other as if we just realized what was going on. We were still baffled when he took Jake by the shoulders to move us away from the desk, opening the drawers in need of something all of a sudden.
- Oh !, exclaimed Mandy.
We all jerked our heads to her, hiding her giggles behind her hand in a girly way. Josh followed, an awfully wide toothy grin stretching his lips. Jake, like me, looked positively confused. Was my dress damaged ? Did I fuck up and didn't realize ? Like he had thought the same, the long haired boy looked at me, without finding anything, before Josh took place next to Mandy, backed against the drawer holding the records, joint in hand. Mine raised in a questionning manner, not understanding why they were serving us the big mischevious smirks.
As an answer, Josh slowly pointed his index to the ceiling. Mistletoe.
- You know the rule.
My whole body shook with embarrassment, not knowing how Jake would react and not really wanting to know either. Refusing to meet his gaze, I kept mine fixated on the ground while he studied the branch hanging out from a string, dangling above our heads like it was mocking us. Oh how I always hated those situations. All of them including a cute boy that would probably refuse to kiss me, without sparing me the shame of his rejection. I had to cut this awkward moment short.
- We're not forced, I murmured, if you don't want to then I-
- Who says I don't want to ?
That left me mouth agape. Jake didn't let my brain any time to process any of these informations before placing a hand to my jaw, brushing away the hair from my face, watching me carefully, silently asking for permission. My eyelids fluttered shut before I could even think, and in an instant, a soft and warm touch covered my lips, making me sigh deeply, releasing the breath I didn't know I was holding. My hand found his cheek at the same time his caressed the spot behind my ear, and his scent filled my nostrils. My heart was about to leap from my ribcage, and the simple sensation of his lips against mine made my knees turn to jelly. My head was filled with fireworks. I felt so small and vulnerable yet so safe in his arms, I never wanted for it to stop. During several seconds, we shared a chaste kiss, that lasted maybe more than was initially intentionned. Slowly, painfully so, I felt Jake's soft lips separating from their playmates, sighing, as we shared a shaky breath, opening our eyes to discover the other's face. I could tell in his gaze that something had clicked. His eyes were staring at me behind heavy lids, a sparkle I never saw before twinkling, watching me as if he was rediscovering me all over again while Bruce Springsteen's Fire played softly in the background.
You say you don't love me
But you can't hide your desire
When we kiss
Ooh... Fire.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
It’s Secret Santa Reveal time!
@captainswan618 It is me, your Secret Santa! I hope you’ve been having a wonderful holiday season and a fantastic end to 2018! Have a great 2019!
I hope you enjoy this holiday themed B99 fic!
The break room smelled of sweet hot chocolate as Charles detailed the plans he and Genevieve had made for Christmas this year. Slowly the rest of the squad went around the room sharing their plans for the next day. Amy had just finished telling her and Jake’s plans for their first married Christmas when Officer Lou walked into the breakroom.
As Terry poured himself a cup of coffee, he asked the officer his plans for Christmas.
Lou looked at them in surprise. “Christmas? Have you guys not looked outside?”
Rosa and Gina turned around quickly and looked out the window. “Well son of a -” Rosa said quietly.
“How did we miss a huge snow storm like this?” Jake asked to the room.
“How did Amy miss a snow storm like this?” Gina asked.
Amy lifted her arms up in defense. “It was supposed to miss the city! It was supposed to go way north!”
“So we’re...snowed in?” Jake asked sadly.
Officer Lou nodded. “It came on so fast that it seems like most of the city is.”
“Wait so we can't get home for Christmas?” Charles asked, looking crushed.
“Well it's Christmas Eve,” Rosa reminded. Maybe they’ll have things cleared by tomorrow.
“Could be worse,” Jake offered, “we could be trapped here with a bunch of lawyers like that one Thanksgiving.”
“There are two lawyers talking to one of the other detectives in the bullpen,” Gina pointed out, looking through the window.
“Way to jinx it, Jake,” Rosa said with a punch to Jake’s arm.
The squad slowly filtered out of the break room, leaving Jake and Amy alone. Jake shook his head as he watched his friends sit down at their desks to call their families. “This sucks,” Jake said quietly. Amy nodded her agreement. He looked over at his wife, a grin growing on his face.
“What are you thinking?” She asked nervously.
“Amy, you better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout. I’m telling you why! Jakey-Claus is coming to town!” Jake sing-songed.
Amy stared at him, completely confused. “What does that even mean?”
Jake grabbed Amy’s shoulders. “Amy, I’m going to save Christmas!” He ran out of the break room without explaining any further.
It was a couple of hours later when Amy saw Jake speeding from the elevator off towards an interrogation room. She jumped up from her desk to follow him. He had just closed the door when she opened it and walked into the room. “Ames!” He screeched in surprise. “What are you doing?”
“I think the better question is what are you doing?” Amy replied quickly.
“That is need to know and you don't need to,” Jake retorted.
Amy rolled her eyes. “Even Santa has help, Jake. He has his elves. Do you need an elf?”
Jake smirked broadly. “Well, Amy, I believe I do.”
She clapped her hands together. “Great! What can I do?”
Jake walked close to her and said softly, “You can go back to your desk and forget you saw me in here.”
Amy glared at him. “Come on, man. I’m your wife. Let me in on the secret!”
“But I’m trying to save Christmas for you too.”
“Just let me help. What are you trying to do?”
Jake sighed, finally giving in. “Well I was inspired by Charles saving our wedding. It still ended up being perfect, so now I want to do that for the squad.”
Amy smiled. “That's very sweet of you.” She wrapped her arms around Jake’s neck. “And you know, you don't have to do it alone.”
He nodded, giving her a quick kiss on her forehead. “Okay, come with me, my little elf.”
Having Amy’s help worked in Jake’s favor. He had someone to distract the squad while he orchestrated the saving of Christmas. The break room was closed off from prying eyes. Amy had led the squad down to the second floor to show them something “really awesome.” Jake wondered what Amy had come up with to show them. He could guarantee it wasn’t something that was actually awesome to them.
Gina’s voice rang through the bullpen as the squad emerged from the elevator. “Really, Amy, you thought Officer Larsen’s coin collection was awesome? You thought we needed to see it?”
Jake peeked out of the window of the darkened break room. Amy shrugged in response to Gina. “It took a lot of time for him to collect those. And that’s just his work collection! Come on, Gina! Imagine the history those coins have seen! He had one from 1901!”
“Amy, I can appreciate things Gina would sneer at, but even I thought you really overhyped that,” Terry said with a disappointed look.
Jake threw open the door to the break room with a dramatic flair. “Well how about this?” he asked, motioning to the break room.
Rosa looked at the room behind him critically. “What? A dark break room? Big whoop.”
“Oh?” Jake asked, jumping over toward the plug. He quickly turned on the Christmas lights strung through the break room. “Well how about now?”
Everyone looked surprised by what Jake had done in the room. Amy smiled brightly as she walked in and looked around at the festive room.
“Jake, what is all this?” Charles asked, looking around the room.
“Look, I know you’d all rather be getting off early and going home to your families,” Jake explained, “but I figured maybe we could still have a good Christmas Eve stuck here.” He uncovered the mail cart where he’d hidden the food. Laying it all out on the table, he explained, “The bakery just down the street did not know this storm was coming and had a surplus of food that no one was going to buy. I gave them a number and they were happy to sell me everything they had so they could officially close and not have the day be a total loss.” Once all the food was out on the table, Jake turned to his friends. “Merry Chri- oh wait, one more thing.” He grabbed the last item out of his hoodie pocket and handed it over to Gina. “Back-up charger. I know your work charger is on the fritz.” Gina looked as if she could cry. Jake beamed. “Merry Christmas, everyone!”
“Merry Christmas,” they all echoed back. Terry walked forward and wrapped Jake in a big hug. The rest of the squad made it a group hug.
As he was eating a cookie and drinking some of the hot chocolate they’d made earlier, Terry said, “Aside from my wife and girls, I can’t think of anyone else I’d rather be snowed in with on Christmas Eve. I love all my grown up babies so much.”
“Oh, and by the way,” Jake added as an afterthought, “while Amy was distracting you and I was setting all this up, I also called around and they think the roads will be cleared for us to leave around midnight. I know it’s late but it’s better than nothing, right?” Jake said with a shrug. Then he walked to the door of the break room. “Hey everyone, free Christmas baked goods in here!”
As the rest of the officers filed into the room to get in on the food, Jake missed the looks exchanged by his fellow squad. They were all so touched by his attempts to save Christmas for them.
One Week Later
“Can’t believe 2018 is almost over. How crazy,” Charles said as he sat next to Jake’s desk. “What would you say was the craziest moment of 2018 for you?”
Jake looked over at Charles thoughtfully. “Well, I got married. That was pretty crazy. I spent a long time thinking that would never happen. What about you?”
“There was one day Nikolaj brought home a bat for a pet. That was kind of crazy. Okay, next question. What would you say was the most exciting discovery you made in 2018?”
“What?” Jake asked, a confused look on his face. “Why do I feel like you’re just trying to distract me?”
“Me? Trying to distract you? I think I need to change my craziest moment of 2018!” Charles practically yelled at Jake.
“Terry, is it finished?” Rosa called toward the copy room.
Terry strolled out from the copy room, raising an envelope above his head, Gina close behind him. “It’s finished!”
“Good, because Charles is the worst at distractions,” Rosa said with a shake of her head.
“Distractions?” Jake asked, his hands raised in question. “Why are you distracting me?”
Gina, Charles, Rosa, and Terry walked over to Jake’s desk. “Hey Amy!” Rosa yelled toward the briefing room. Amy popped her head out and followed Rosa’s motion to join them. She sat down in her old desk chair across from Jake.
“We just wanted to say a thank you for saving Christmas for us,” Terry explained. The others nodded along with him.
“Oh! Well that was nothing. You guys didn’t have to do anything,” Jake said with a shrug.
“Well yeah, but you didn’t have to do anything for us either,” Rosa reminded him. “If it weren’t for your kindness, Gina’s phone would have died and she’d have made us all miserable for hours until we got to leave here.”
“That’s probably true,” Gina agreed with a nod.
“It was very thoughtful and very moving,” Charles said, staring at Jake intensely.
“That’s funny because I was inspired by you saving our wedding,” Jake informed him.  Charles looked as if he was fighting back tears.
“The point is that we appreciated it and we wanted to show you how much,” Terry continued. He held out the envelope for Jake to take. “You’re dismissed for the day. You and Amy both. We know you helped too, Amy.” Amy smiled as she walked over to read what was in the envelope.
“You guys got us a reservation at that new super nice restaurant?” Jake gasped.
“How did you even manage that?” Amy asked, aghast.
“Gina had to call in a couple favors,” Charles explained. She nodded sadly beside him.
Terry pointed to a point on the letter. “It’s been paid for too.”
“You guys, this is too much,” Jake replied, trying to give the letter back to them.
“Whatever, we’re your friends and we...love you,” Rosa said, muttering the last two words.
“Say that again!” Amy cried.
“The next time you’ll hear it will be over your casket at your funeral.” Jake and Amy both laughed.
“She’s right though, we do love you guys,” Terry said with a meaningful look. “You saved our Christmas Eve so we’re going to save your New Year’s Eve. I know you both hate working it anyway. So take this and go have a fancy meal as you toast to the end of the year you got married.”
Jake and Amy slowly agreed to it. The plan did sound pretty wonderful. They really did have the greatest friends around. The squad stood by the elevator as Jake and Amy left. As the doors were closing, Jake shot finger guns and yelled with a laugh, “Hey guys, see you next year!” They all groaned as the doors clunked shut.
Gina chuckled as she walked back to her desk. “That was actually kind of funny.”
Rosa nodded in agreement. “Yeah, but we can never tell him.”
“This is our new secret,” Charles said as he sat down at his desk. “Our last squad secret of 2018!”
Terry looked around at his grown up babies with a smile on his face. He lifted his coffee mug in toast to them. “Hey guys,” he called. They all looked over. “Happy New Year!”

Christmas Eve at My Cousins Feet
Spending Christmas Morning With Bianca (17)
Christmas Night 11:37pm
You were Lucky (in a way). the thing you had been fearing the most was if Bianca’s feet would start to sweat horribly, but since it was December and it was so cold out, Bianca’s feet were only lukewarm. There was only a slight amount of sweat perspiring through her skin and that was when you stayed in one place on her foot for more than an hour.
Not wanting to be drenched in your cousin’s foot sweat you had to move to another spot on her foot every hour. You barely slept at all and when the first drop of foot sweat dripped into your mouth you immediately moved to another section in her sock. This included her heel, arch, the ball of her foot, and each toe.
Christmas morning 8:00 am
Bianca had woken up after a pleasant night’s sleep. She was dressed in her white pajamas and she had morning hair and even though it was all over the place, it still looked cute on her.
 "MMMMMMMMYEAHHHH. That was a great night’s sleep. Hey? My right foot is a little warmer than my left? Jake should’ve only warmed up the spot he was under but…..did he....?"
Bianca leans forward and speaks into her right sock.
 "Jake. WAKE UP. I have a question to ask you."
Jake heard the booming voice of his giant cousins orders and began to squirm in her sock hoping to please her foot and avoid being stomped on.
 "I want to know if you moved all around my sock and used your body heat to warm up the bottom of my foot for me?"
 "Yeah I did, I moved all over your foot because it was Swea…" before Jake could finish his sentence Bianca squeals happily and says
 "OOOOOO that’s such a good trick Jakey and I didn't even have to teach you it. You’re really going to be a Great footslave. One day when I know you’re completely trained and won't escape I’ll loosen my socks up so you can move to my other foot and warm them during the cold harsh nights.
Bianca wiggles her toes in your face and squeezes you softly and affectionately without hurting you. For some reason, you start to like this smooth, soft feeling of her toes massaging your face and begin to rub your face from side to side against the bottom of her toes.  Bianca feels your affection and says
 "That’s right tiny, be a good little pet and rub your face against your master’s toes."
As soon as she said this you realized how humiliating it was to be doing this to the bottom of your teenage bratty cousin’s feet and stopped immediately. It’s almost as if you’re getting too used to your new life as your cousin's slave, but you still want a chance to escape.
Bianca finished petting her toy and got up to get changed into a comfy pair of slippers. She took off her sock and dumped you out into a pair of furry white bunny slippers. You were sitting on the edge of the heel and looked up at your titanic cousin as she stood there like a god who had just gotten out of bed.
 "Since you were such a good foot slave last night I’ve decided to let you stay outside my sock while I open up my presents and eat breakfast. But if you disobey me or try to escape you’ll go right back inside them while I do a few hundred jump rope exercises. Now climb into my morning shoes, I want you to be at the top of the ball of my foot."
If you didn’t move now, you would be positioned under the full weight of her heel. you scrambled inside her slip on bunny slipper when you saw her barefoot rise above and begin to descend into its shoe home.
Bianca combed her hair and then walked into the living room where the large decorated Christmas tree stood with a mountain of presents under its branches. Trixie had already awoken and opened up some of her Christmas presents without anyone’s permission. Bianca noticed that Trixie was still wearing the same socks when she got here and thought about Trixie using Jake as a foot toy. Having your own little sister use you as an insole would be even more humiliating than a younger cousin, but Bianca wanted to use him for herself until her pet was properly trained. Trixie jumped in glee over her new cell phone. After a while, everyone woke up and joined the two youngest family members to open presents. (Actually, there were three people in the room).
From inside your white slipper prison, you can hear everyone talking in joyous, happy voices about the presents they got. You sulked, crushed under Bianca’s foot as the only present you received was smelling a giant smelly foot and being made into a bratty girl’s servant for the rest of your life. But a glimmer of hope lights in your chest when you hear these next muffled words.
Karen, Jakes mother says "Hey, has anyone seen Jake? I just went and unlocked his room and there was no one in there. He’s got a bunch of presents here; you’d think he’d want to open them?"
Bianca’s mother Michelle says "No I haven't seen him since yesterday when you grounded him, Karen."
Melanie opens up an expensive bottle of perfume and says "The little crybaby probably ran away after you grounded him, but don’t worry Auntie Karen if there are presents involved I’m sure he’ll be back to claim them later on."
Jake cried a little as he realized there was no way he was going to be getting those presents unless they discovered he was being used as an insole by his cruel, but beautiful teenaged cousins foot.
Bianca says "If Jake doesn’t show up can I have his presents."
Trixie shouts "No, I want ‘em"
Jennifer says "Girls calm down; I don’t think that Jake is going to not come back and get his own holiday gifts. Who would be Crazy enough to do that?"
The exchange of presents went on for a while and you couldn't stop crying for some reason no matter how hard you tried to fight it. you would've done anything to get out of her shoe and be opening up presents like everyone else.
Eventually, every present was unwrapped (except yours) and every person had a smile on their face. even grumpy old Uncle Mike who got a portable, self-cooling keg from his wife. your dad got an ear and nose trimmer, your mother received a new pair of earrings and matching necklace.  Aunt Michelle got a new pair of designer sandals and a new blouse. Jennifer got a new sturdy bra to contain her massive breasts and Samantha got a white winter jacket with matching leggings and boots.  Melanie got many unique bottles of perfume, nail polish, and lipstick. Since Trixie was the youngest she got tons of new clothes, toys, and candy but your mom quickly took the candy away to help save her daughters teeth from another trip to the dentist.
Bianca got the most expensive of gifts including a new MP3 player, an iPhone, new clothes, shirts, pants, socks, and underwear. but her favorite gifts were the new pairs of shoes she got. she looked inside the insoles of her sneakers, flip-flops, ballet flats and clogs and pictured Jake there squirming to get free but eventually accepting his fate and lying there waiting for her foot to come down on him.
 "I have so many shoes I want to try Jake in. I can't wait till everyone leaves then I can have some alone time with him. I wonder if my feet will still fit in my shoes from when I was only a preteen? it would be a tight fit, but I can't wait to see the expression on Jake's face when he sees he has to go inside my old shoes from when I was a kid hahaha."
Aunt Michelle says to everyone "Okay everybody lets get into the kitchen and I'll make everyone something tasty to eat."
From outside your shoe prison, you heard the sound of 8 pairs of feet trampling far away and then felt Bianca get up off the floor and take her first step into the dining room. because she was wearing soft slippers you could feel the hard tile of the dining room floor and preferred the softer feeling of the living rooms carpet when Bianca stepped on you. but this is just another thing you will have to get used to as the foot slave to Bianca the teen giantess who owned your life.

Unexpected Guest (Part 1?)
Tumblr media
Unexpected Guest
“Hello, love! Sorry for the late call, but I wanted to let you know I landed safely and Monkey met me at the airport. Wanted to check-in with ya. Everything OK at the house? Have you found the wine we left you yet?”
“Yes. Tom, everything is amazing! Thank you so much for letting me stay here. And yes, I found the wine. Currently selecting the bottle for this evening, if you must know. The house is beyond perfect! Are you absolutely sure that the studio doesn’t mind?”
“Not one bit. Jakey is on vacation for the holidays with his family and Charlie and I are here in London with the boys through the New Year. Shooting doesn’t resume until the second week in January, so the place would just be sitting empty. My favorite camera operator needed a place to stay; and in all seriousness, love…they know better than to fuck with Venom.”
“You are such a dork. But again, thank you so SO much. It means more to me than you know.”
“You’re welcome, love,” he said sincerely. “Happy holidays to you. Shoot me or Charlie a text if you have any questions or problems. Just remember to try and relax. You’re not working for the next 2 weeks; so don’t spend all your time watching Jaws and working on your dolly tilt.”
“Fuck you, Tommy,” I said, laughing out loud. “You know very well that it’s called a dolly zoom. And it’s one of the single greatest camera shots in cinema history. I need to be ready when Spielberg calls.”
I could hear his laughter on the other end of the line. This man just loved busting my balls.
“Oh, Tom! Before I forget. I can’t find the number anywhere for the security company. I wanted to call them and have the gate code temporarily changed while I’m here. Just to make myself feel safer.”
“I don’t think we have it up anywhere. Let me find it and I’ll text it to you in a bit.”
“Got it. In all seriousness, thanks again, Tom. Love to you guys and to the boys!”
As I ended the call and searched for a corkscrew, I again marveled at just how amazing and bizarre this whole chain of events had been.

Flashback
I’d been lucky enough to meet Tom Hardy and Jake Tomuri working as a camera operator on The Revenant two years ago. It was one of my first long-term jobs, and it had been a particularly brutal one. All the accounts of how difficult and exhausting the shoot had been were totally true. That said, I was there from the first day of shooting until the last; and you don’t go through that much with a group of people without making some good friends. After The Revenant had wrapped, everyone scattered to their own far-reaches of the globe, but a core group had kept in touch. Tom shot Taboo and the fourth season of Peaky Blinders in Europe for most of 2017 before beginning his prep for Venom; but as soon as he knew the starting date in Atlanta, he recommended me to the director. And the rest, as they say, was history.
On most location shoots, especially when it was a studio with money, the crew stayed in hotels near the set. Being a Marvel production, the crew received very nice accommodations on Venom, but Tom and Jake had reservations about me spending Christmas and New Year’s alone in a hotel room…even if it was a Marvel-funded hotel room. He and Jake had rented a house in Atlanta. Although, to call it a “house” was a bit of a stretch.
Tumblr media
It was a big, beautiful, furnished mansion with a large pool out back and seven bedrooms. While it may have seemed a bit extravagant to the casual observer, it was important for them to have somewhere to stay that would provide not only security, but also space for their families to visit. Both men had significant others and four kids between them. Plus, to be perfectly honest, Jake and Tom were like two giant toddlers when left alone…and the boys needed space to play. You only had to take a look at Tom’s Instagram to see how much fun those two could have together. Hell, I didn’t even know they made Care Bear onesies in sizes large enough for an adult male. Tom and Jake each had two.
Tumblr media
I knew that spending Christmas Eve alone sounded depressing, but I’d been on my own since 17 years old. Yes, I had some extended family, but no one that I considered close enough to spend the holidays with. I had always possessed an eye for camera work and managed to pay my way through film school by working on commercials. I got the job on The Revenant simply because I was able to do it conflict-free. I didn’t have a family or many close friends that would take me away from the arduous shoot. I could be there day in and day out and keep my focus. The director loved it; and since it was my first major Hollywood shoot, I set out trying to impress from the moment I walked on set. It worked.
I was on set for about a month before I started really meeting the cast. Tom and Jake had immediately taken me under their wings. They treated me like big brothers and were always supportive and encouraging.
Tumblr media
I’d do dinners and movies and sing-a-longs with the boys after filming. Tom, Jake, and Paul were endlessly entertaining and it really made the months bearable. Each of them was in a happy, committed relationship and the thought of ever getting romantically involved with anyone on set was laughable to me. Camera work was my passion and what I had always dreamed of doing. I’d never let something as stupid as an on-set romance get in the way of my perfect job. Did I get lonely? Sure. Who didn’t? But there are worse things in life than being lonely.
I genuinely didn’t mind spending time on my own and would have been perfectly fine in my little hotel room for 2 weeks. But the boys had other plans.
After we finished shooting for the day, they cornered me as I was putting equipment away. Jake had a small present in his hands.
“Hey guys! We wrapped for the day almost 2 hours ago. What are you two still doing on set?”
“Well,” Tom said, “We knew that you planned to stick around and stay in the hotel for Christmas, but we have a better idea. We both have flights home tonight and our rented place will be empty. We want you to stay there. We’ve already cleared it with the necessary folks and it’s good to go. All you need to do is say ‘yes’. Now open your present!”
Tumblr media
Inside the box was a small silver key and keychain shaped like a house. Tied around it, was a red ribbon.
“Pleeease!” Jake begged. “We decorated, and cleaned, and everything!”
Looking at my two smiling friends, I realized that I had no choice.
“Boys, there is only one outcome here, isn’t there?” I asked, smiling warmly at their expectant faces.
Tumblr media
“Fuckin’ right there is!” Jake affirmed, scooping me up in a crushing bear hug.
“It’s good you said ‘yes’,” Tom chimed in. “Jakey stole your car at lunchtime. It’s already back home in the garage.”
After getting the security code for the house and giving both boys hugs and kisses goodbye, I found myself being dropped off at the main security gate by one of the production assistants. I wished him happy holidays and made my way inside.
They had really outdone themselves.
Turning on the stereo system and sending music throughout the house, I gave myself the grand tour.
Tumblr media
In the living room was a huge, decorated Christmas tree. While we were on The Revenant set, I had shared my deep love for Christmas decorations. They were my favorite part of the holiday; and it seemed that the boys had remembered. The scene was something straight out of a catalog and I found myself deeply touched at how much they had done for me. And to make the gesture that much more beautiful, I knew that they did it simply because I was their friend…and never expected a thing in return. How I’d gotten so lucky, I’d never know.
Tumblr media
The kitchen, which looked like it hadn’t been touched, was spotless. Opening the fridge, I found it stocked with water, snacks, and a lot of wine. The guys knew I liked to cook and bake, and they had definitely ensured that I wouldn’t go hungry during my stay. I could probably cook a family meal each night and still not run out of food before they got back.
Tumblr media
Grabbing my bags, I headed upstairs. All of the bedrooms had been cleaned and linens had been changed, so I had my pick of accommodations. One caught my eye. The king size bed was plush with cream colored blankets. It wasn’t the biggest bedroom in the house, but it had a beautiful stone gas fireplace at the foot of the bed and a window overlooking the backyard. In my suitcase, I found a pair of old yoga pants and the tank top that Jakey had gotten me for my birthday. He had convinced me to do yoga with him one day after shooting. I hated it and informed him that I preferred to drink for stress relief. Not only did I never have to do yoga with him again, but I got a killer shirt out of it. Completing the look with a pair of fuzzy pink socks, I made my way back downstairs to check out the rest of the house.
Tumblr media
Downstairs was a game room, complete with pool table and bar which led to the coziest home theater I had ever seen. The overstuffed couches were made for snuggling up in front of the screen and I knew that I’d more than likely spend at least a few nights dozing off in there.
Tumblr media
I strolled back upstairs and into the kitchen, intent on taking a closer look at the wine in the fridge, when my phone started to ring. It was late, but I knew immediately who’d be on the other end. I made Tom promise that he’d call once he was home. We chatted for a few minutes; and after thanking him profusely and sending my love to Charlie and the boys, I hung up and got ready to start my evening.
End Flashback
***********************************
I had two weeks off and I planned to make the most of every second. Just as I was about to uncork my bottle, I heard it.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
My heart jumped into my throat.
The house was supposed to be empty. Tom, Jake, and the producers were the only ones who knew I’d be here and I was the only one with the gate code. How could anyone have gotten to the door?!
Immediately, I grabbed my phone and began to dial 911.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
Before I could complete the call, my screen lit up.
‘Hardy calling’ was displayed on the screen.
My panic increased by the second.
“Hello! Tom! Tom, someone’s at the door! They’re pounding on it. I need to hang up and call the police!”
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
The disturbance at the door continued as I got more and more scared and tears began to fall. My heart felt like it was going to burst from my chest.
This was not how the evening was supposed to go…
“Tom! Tom, I’m scared! I’m hanging up now. I need to call the cops! Whoever is out there bypassed the security code. I’m alone here. Please, let me call for help!”
“Pet, calm down! Listen to me! You’re OK. I promise. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
“Tom, you’re on the other side of the ocean. I need help here NOW! I’m hanging up!” I yelled as the knocking at the door continued.
“Wait! Please! Did you see The Drop?” He asked.
“Excuse me!?”
“The Drop. My movie. Did you see it?”
“Hardy, I swear to fuck, if the last thing I do before I die is chat with you about your filmography, I’m going to haunt your ass for-fucking-ever.”
“Love, go open the door.”
“No! Have you not heard a single thing I’ve said?! There. Is. Someone. Out. There.”
“Yes. And I know who it is.”
Then he was gone.
In the silence that followed, I heard a phone ring outside and a muffled male voice.
“Hey man, glad you got my text! I’m right outside! Come let me in!”
Of course, I could only hear one side of the conversation, but quickly putting two and two together, I knew that whoever was out there was currently speaking with Tom.
I silently tiptoed the door, still on high alert, but starting to calm down.
“Yeah bro. Yeah. OK. Should I just leave? I feel like an asshole. Do you think she’d let me apologize?”
I recognized the voice. The Drop. That’s why Tom had asked.
“Yeah. Yeah man, OK. Love to you and Charlie! I’ll give you a call in a bit. Yep. OK, bye.”
All was silent for a few moments. I leaned my head against the wood and waited.
And then I heard the voice again from the other side.
“Ummm…hello? Tom said you were probably on the other side of the door by now waiting. I’m not here to hurt you, I promise. I’m a friend of Tom’s. He gave me the gate code a few weeks ago. I was shooting in New Mexico and was going to try to make it out here before he left to head back to London. But apparently, I missed him. I sent him a text when I got here…and then he called you to try and warn you in time. Which I guess…didn’t happen. I really never meant to scare you. And I really hope you are on the other side of this door like Tom said…or else I’m going to feel especially stupid for royally fucking up and then apologizing to a door.”
I smiled despite the aftershocks of fear still pulsing in my veins.
Slowly, I unlatched the door and pulled it open.
The unexpected guest was standing in the light of the front porch with his hands in his pockets. When our eyes met, he smiled softly.
“Hi. I’m Matthias.”
