As we know, DuckTales 2017 is FULL of clever, subtle parallels and callbacks to other episodes (not just to the 80s series, but within the reboot itself). Here's one I've never seen anyone talk about:

Compare this scene in season 2's 'Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake' where Doofus hacked poor Boyd and reprogrammed him to tie Louie up like a pinata and attack him-

-to this scene in the final episode of the series 'The Last Adventure':

The scene in 'The Last Adventure' was the second time Boyd attended a birthday party and the second time he was involved in a pinata game. But it was the first time doing so while completely free of anyone else's reprogramming/hacking (enslavement, essentially). He was actually enjoying his life as a free person, just having fun like the real kid he wanted to be, alongside his true dad who loves him and wants the world for him.

Ever since Gyro finally gave him the validation Boyd desperately needed to hear from his creator's own mouth in the episode 'Astro B.O.Y.D.' ("You are not evil! You are good! You're more than your programming! You are a definitely real boy!"), allowing him to snap out of Akita's evil programming, he became truly free for the first time in his life with the ability to make his own choices, his systems completely free of all the other reprogramming others forced on him for their own selfish, ignorant purposes. He truly embraced what it was to be a real person- his own person- choosing his own identity (the 'real boy' programming Gyro himself created him with long ago, but Boyd still chose it for himself at the end of 'Astro B.O.Y.D.').

And that's why the parallel between these two scenes is so powerful.

I realized that all three seasons of DT17 contain a moment where an adventurer, or a pilot, experiences some kind of struggle with a dragon-like monster. And in most of these cases, the monster is ultimately defeated with a strong blast of power.

Pixiu was accidentally released from imprisonment similarly to how Launchpad believe he had unleased a demon curse on Duckburg

The “demons” were on the hunt for candy in the same way Pixiu was after gold

The defragon that Launchpad rode in “Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake!” was given the same color palette as The Sunchaser; making it feel strangely reminiscent of Scrooge’s battle with Pixiu

While Scrooge wasn’t dressed as a dragon for Halloween, or blasted with some kind of blue-green energy, having him fight a pilot in a skeleton costume seems to draw a strong connect to the ceiling decorations at Hazel House

The next chapter I’m writing of The Greatest Adventure takes place during the events of Happy Birthday Doofus Drake and I’ve been rewatching that episode today remembering just how brilliant it was the first time round.

Like, this was the first time we saw Goldie outside of the Scroldie dynamic.

This was the first (and only) time we got to bask in the glory of Soccer Mom/Wine Aunt Goldie.

This was the day that Scheme Team was born.

When we learned that Goldie once spent significant time being tortured by tiny imps in a demon dimension.

When we were blessed with the gold swimsuit!

And so many questions were raised, like: does Goldie have a bunch of clothes just in the mansion somewhere or were we robbed of a mall montage?

This episode was the episode where I knew that whatever else happened in the show, they were giving our girl a JOURNEY and CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and sure, I’ll always want more, but it wasn’t the Goldie Show (it SHOULD have been) and we got way more than I ever expected we would.

I just bloody love this episode and I’m super excited about pulling it to pieces and having my wicked way with it.

In the episode where Huey is an intern for Beaks, “The Infernal Internship Of Mark Beaks” (S1 E7) he says he’ll become the “Duke of Making a Mess.” While throwing shit around the office. In “Happy Birthday Doofus Drake” (S2 E18) Della says “You could level up to become the ‘Duke of the Destruction’.” Then in “The Split Sword of Swanstantine” (S3 E14) they take the concept even further and have “The Duke” as an actual entity, and an actual part of Huey that he is aware of and actively repressing. This is a weird three season arc for a random concept that was definitely originally intended as a one-off joke.

What I Think Certain DuckTales (2017) Characters Might Give A Loved One For The Holiday Season

Ok. Here I’ll be going over what presents certain DuckTales (2017) characters might give a certain loved one for the Holiday Season. Also, Spoiler Alert for the DuckTales (2017) TV series. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.

The type of gift Goldie might give Louie might depend on their shared love for treasure. So, I think that Goldie might steal one of the valuables kept in Doofus Drake’s house and give it to Louie for the Holiday Season. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Happy Birthday Doofus Drake!’, conning Doofus Drake was the first time that Goldie and Louie formed a connection. And also, as shown in the episode ‘Day Of The Only Child!’, Louie knew that one of Doofus Drake’s aforementioned valuables was worth a lot. So, Louie would really appreciate that gift.

Lena seems to like writing as shown in the episode ‘The Beagle Boy Breakout!’ where she wrote quite a few notes and put them in bottles in the water. And, as shown in the episode ‘The Shadow War Part 2: The Day Of The Ducks!’, Lena wrote a poem to describe how she was brought into existence. So, for the Holiday Season, I think that Lena might write Webby a note that poetically describes how grateful she is for having her in her life. And I think that the note Lena writes to Webby might be something around the lines of this:

Dear Webby,

Years ago, this snow woman that is me was molded from the snow that is the magic I’m made of with nothing on her but what seemed to be a permanent frown on her face. But then you, the sun in the sky, came along. You could’ve used your radiating heat to melt this snow woman away. But instead, you melted some of the snow around this snow woman revealing the sticks, hat and especially the scarf that lied beneath. That allowed this snow woman to take her new stick arms and stand up to and shove aside this snow woman’s evil creator. To put on her hat and distinguish herself from the rest of the snow around her. And what this snow woman is most grateful for. To feel the warmth of the scarf that is the bond we have with each other. Thank you, Webby. You really helped me out. Thank you so much.

As stated in the episode ‘Let’s Get Dangerous! Part 1: The St. Canardian Guardian!’, Gosalyn’s grandfather went missing and she wanted to find him. And, as shown in the episode ‘Let’s Get Dangerous! Part 2: A Case Of Mistaken Reality!’, Drake wanted to help Gosalyn reunite with her grandfather. But since, as also shown in the episode ‘Let’s Get Dangerous! Part 2: A Case Of Mistaken Reality!’, Gosalyn’s grandfather is lost in another dimension and the portal was destroyed, Drake might try the next best thing and try to find anything that her grandfather left behind like a journal for example and give it to Gosalyn for the Holiday Season.

As shown in the episode ‘What Ever Happened To Della Duck?!’, Della knew a thing or 2 about building stuff since she did make a prosthetic for herself. And, as shown in the episode ‘They Put A Moonlander On The Earth!’, Penumbra is fierce but also learned to have fun. So, for the Holiday Season, Della might make Penumbra a sleigh and show her some hills and mountains she can sleigh down. And considering that, as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’, Della was very enthusiastic about going on daring adventures even as a kid, she will likely join Penumbra on the sleighing trip.

So i've been watching episode "Who is Gizmoduck" again and...

You know how Mark Beaks threathened to take control of the Gizmoduck suit if Fenton disobeyed him or couldn't meet his demands? And actually went through with it when he was confronted?

He 100% did that to Boyd too. Boyd introduced himself as 2-B0 when Beaks found him, but didn't even know he was a robot in the episode "Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake". Boyd was genuinely happy to have met Beaks, he was given a name and that was enough for him to want to hug him. But at some point, he must have questioned Beaks or behaved in a way he didn't like, and that was why he was reprogrammed.

It must have been terrifying.
