Omg, also a TS fan since debut and I massively took a step back from her personally prior to the reputation era because of her antics and victim complex. The music will always mean so so much to me, her lyrics mean so much to me, but her actions as a person and TS™️ as an entity is just weird and greedy. I think she accrued a lot of fans when she disappeared for a while who've completely constructed a narrative in their heads of who she is and they believe it and are eating up this current era, but those who've been here a long time know how PR and image driven it is. Exhausting.
I apologize in advance I have been having way too many feelings about this whole situation and how it relates to my identity as a 28 year old woman and you are about to get an oversharing novel in response lol
Also, I guess CW: this post is about Taylor Swift and if anyone sends me any kind of hate or whatnot related to my own personal opinions and feelings I will be deleting it because I am NOT playing that game.
My Aunt bought me the Debut album CD at a concert after seeing her open for Rascal Flatts. She was like "I thought that you would like her!" and she was RIGHT Taylor Swift became my entire personality. One of my FAVORITE core memories as a child was the day Fearless came out. For some reason we didn't have school, and my Mom and I watched Taylor on the Ellen show, and then we went to Target and bought the physical CD, we then drove around town so we could listen to it together. My mom hasn't been well and that is one of my favorite memories of us together. It's silly but when you're in middle school that kind of thing is important to you. Then in high school I actually got MADE FUN OF for wearing Taylor merch and being excited about Red. BUT I loved her music and felt like she actually stood for something, so I brushed it off and continued to be a HUGE Swiftie. I had the Taylor Swift dolls, I had the perfumes, I had the LOVE LOVE LOVE bracelet, I had the sundresses from WALMART. I saw her on the Fearless and 1989 tours, I had the fucking 1989 haircut. I was supposed to go to Loverfest.
I was still a HUGE Swiftie during the post 1989-pre Reputation eras, then the Reputation era. I'm a few years younger than her, but I felt like I could relate to the kind of manic panic that she was sharing with us (lol turns out I was just unmedicated and we're doing much better now). It felt (in my probably naive mind) like she was experiencing the same insecurities that I was and reacting accordingly. Was she playing the victim at times? Oh 100% BUT I also fully believe that she thought she was one. (Plus... Kim is my least favorite Kardashian lol)
I LOVED the Lover era even as it was shit on at the for the sunshine rainbow hyper colorful aesthetic. Like, I don't know if new fans realize but when Lover was released? It was NOT as beloved as it is now. Then Folklore and Evermore were absolute genius, it felt like Taylor had grown up, and she got all of these new fans, which was great! She was in an "adult" relationship and her music and publicity choices seemed to reflect that. It was so refreshing to see a celebrity keeping their personal life, personal, and sharing what they wanted to share through music. Midnights broke all kinds of records, again, amazing! Even if it wasn't as strong as say Folklore. I fought for my life and got Eras Tour tickets (opening weekend!!) I had the BEST TIME EVER.
Taylor has always been extremely calculated with her public image. She was over exposed during The 1989 era and the public turned on her, so I truly cannot figure out why she is doing it again 100x in this new era of whatever the fuck this is. I don't know her, maybe she is legitimately happy, or maybe this is a cry for help. But I have been so grossed out by her behavior lately, and how in your face everything is with Kelce. It's no secret that I hate Kelce (and people that know me IRL know that it's not a new Taylor related thing lol) and if she actually loves him, fine, that's great for her, BUT we don't need to see it! Yes she was public when she was dating Calvin but ALSO she was what 25-26? She's a 34 year old woman now with the biggest platform of any celebrity ever. She feels too old (and this is not me age shaming her because I would be grossed out if my friends were doing it, and I would be embarrassed if *I* were to ever do it) to be licking a man's face in public like this. This feels like sorority girl in her first college relationship (I was *in* a sorority for a hot second so this isn't hate on sorority girls either!) and not record breaking Grammy award winning artist. ALSO I feel like she used to come across as so articulate and well spoken? Controversial opinion but I thought she sounded like a fucking idiot in that Time Person of the Year piece.
I think that this whole thing is PR for something, but because it just feels too icky to be real, but I don't know what it's PR for, (trying to bury the Matty situation from May? Because if so that just makes me even more sad for him or trying to get back at Joe? Which if that's the case, I feel bad for him too and she's even more immature than I thought) and now, for the first time, AFTER SIXTEEN YEARS I'm embarrassed to be a fan of her, both because of her own actions and also the actions of her fanbase as a whole.
It feels really weird, and I know I'm being parasocial about it, but when the times got bad I always had her music to fall back on and now I just, I don't know it feels cheapened somehow because the current image that's being crafted doesn't match the one that we originally fell for. And you know what, people change, she's a celebrity, I don't know her, what she does DOES NOT affect me any way, and how I feel does not AFFECT HER in the slightest, and I know it's being parasocial but I feel like a big part of me is in mourning about it. Less because of her changing her image so drastically, and more so because I feel like I'm mourning the loss of childhood and joy that used to be associated with her music for me and I think that's what's making me the most sad.
I have Eras tour tickets for one of the London dates this summer. I'm probably going to still go, because I paid for them, and I also have tickets to see Noah Kahan that same week in London (... and also the Longines tour has ALSO decided that the London stop is that week...) But I don't consider myself a "big fan" anymore. Maybe I will be one day again, but this current image that she's putting out just isn't it for me.
Sorry for the longest Taylor related novel in existence, I have had a lot of bottled up feelings about this that feel ridiculous typing out and sharing out loud BUT I know I will feel better sending them into the interwebs and your ask was the perfect catalyst.
Thank you so much for sending this in and for your continued support! I hope you continue to enjoy my fics and my secret sports hot takes 😂
❤️Ally

So the star album of today and well not only today it has been the star album since Dec 2020. If you didn't guess it yet just read the birthday message at the last.
The star album might not be the dearest to mother but its surely swifties dearest. I mean I can't complain as I agree with them. The sister album of folklore had to suffer some serious fate.
First since the famous sister was released just a few months ago so our equally deserving but less popular sister didn't get the spotlight.
And then another sister of hers came to meet all of us which went missing in a new rerecorded form Fearless TV who took the remaining spotlight from her.
And so this makes her not so shiny but dusty era the shortest era an album ever released had from her mother. And only to make things worse her mother also ignored her.
Though swifties realised this in time and now we stand with the mother's 9th album. And to be honest its underrated. The album with the 'forever is the sweetest con' chapter could've done much well if only it was given time and recognition. Though she has been in a much better state than her initial era. There are far better days for her I hope.
And with that I want to celebrate her 2 years of existence and for being there. Thank you dear evermore, for just being a part of our lives. Thanks to her mother too as long as she stops ignoring her 3rd ever owned album. And lastly dear evermore I hope next year you are a part of more people lives than this year's. Happy Birthday to evermore who is now 2 years old !!!

Hey! Hey you! It is another Monday and this is another Monday motivation! 🎶🎶
Moooondayyyy mooootivaaationnnn 🎶🎶
Please tell me you just read that as like a radio jingle? If not… go back to that sentence and just imagine it. 😂
I’m struggling to pick a theme for this Monday Motivation. I’m feeling drained and restless at the same time, which is perhaps exactly the reason for the struggle. Stick with me here.
Firstly, look at you! You made it through another week, you made it through the final US GP of the 2022 season. Praise yourself for that! For the week, not necessarily the GP. I’m hoping last week was kind, that you got to experience more highs than lows (but know that every low eventually will lead to a high) and that you got to make a positive memory!
Then, Midnights by Taylor Swift was released last Friday and I just have to know something: have you listened to it yet? Did something jump out at you? The whole reason I’m asking this is not just because I’m a Swiftie and I enjoyed the album but because a certain lyric was a beautiful addition to my last Monday Motivation: “Breathe in, breathe through, breathe deep, breathe out.” Just adding it again as a small reminder. Breathing comes so natural we sometimes forget the powerful effect it can have on our emotions.
Lastly, I’m subscribed to a newsletter that drops some motivation in my mailbox every once in a while. And this time… I think it set the tone for the coming week for me. Here is an excerpt:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My love, you gorgeous creation of stardust, I hope this week treats you kindly. I hope you remember that you are stronger than you think, that you are loved and that without you the world would lose a brightly shining star.
All the love,
Babette 🧡✨
Babs, of course I stayed up until 11pm on a work night for that album 😭😭😭. The complete 180 I did is honestly impressive. At first listen I was so.... 😐 about it. But I've had at least one song stuck in my head over the past few days, and I've grown to enjoy it soooo much. Definitely in the top half of her albums, for me (Speak Now, Folklore, and Evermore are hard to topple as the top 3 in my personal ranking of taste and personal connection but everything else is flexible).
Last week was kind to me and quite fun with pumpkin carvings and being with friends :). I am also so happy for you in hearing that you'll be getting your diploma! I hope the next month to be filled with relief and celebration 🍾

We were young when RED album was released. And now that we are reaching adulthood, we're very happy because it is an opportunity for us to listen, feel the message, and celebrate RED (Taylor's Version) together. We're so proud of you, @taylorswift! Every single time we talk about you, I have witnessed how proud my swiftie friends for you because of what they think of you and your creations, and I've witnessed it again when especially one of our friend cried this day when she noticed that you're smiling while you sing.
Despite the heartbreaking lyrics of your songs that depicts your past struggles, we feel glad because you stood up, and we feel happy for you because we know that you have already found your peace with your lover🌷. You're a brave girl, and you're indeed an inspiration.
Thank you so much for this, Taylor. Thank you for bringing color to the outlined drawing etched in our heads, or translating knots of thoughts that we have into something everyone can understand. Thank you for making us all feel connected because of your art. Please remember, we will always support you. And we love you so much!!!!!!!
And, just so youuuu knooooowww, we will always remember it, all too well🌹

Taylor Swift Albums Reviews
Hello my lovely blog readers,
I want to thank those of you who stick around through all my crazy rants and long Glee posts. You guys are the real MVPs and I will always appreciate you.
Anyway onto why we're here, in the wake of Taylor rereleasing her albums I found it fitting to take a look back at her discorgaphy so far! Thanks to my good friend Aly, I decided to relisten to all of her albums which the order was randomly decided. I will be talking about the deluxe editions so enjoy!
Let's start off with the first album that was drawn first which was Red.
Tumblr media
One of my favorite albums right off the bat with probably her best album cover. I remember how excited I was for 22, mostly because my girl Dianna Agron's name was in the liner notes. Let's dive into what I thought now about 9 years later!
Favorite Track: Begin Again Least Favorite Track: The Last Time (featuring Gary Lightbody) Bonus Track I Wish was on the main album: All of them!!! Favorite Bonus Track: The Moment I Knew Album Ranking: 6th/9
Overall I adore this album so so much. The only track I didn't care for in the least was The Last Time. I think you'll find a trend with me that my least favorite Tayor tracks tend to be her duets (the exception being Everything Has Changed which is also on this album and is the purest of all). The album has held up and even moreso I love it than the first time I listened. Crazy. Anyway onto the rankings of each song. DISCLAIMER: These are just my opinions and you can disagree with them but please be respectful.
1) Begin Again 2) The Moment I Knew 3) State of Grace (Acoustic Version) 4) I Almost Do 5) Stay Stay Stay 6) All Too Well 7) Everything Has Changed (featuring Ed Sheeran) 8) 22 9) Come Back...Be Here 10) Red 11) I Knew You Were Trouble 12) The Lucky One 13) We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together 14) Starlight 15) Girl at Home 16) Sad Beautiful Tragic 17) State of Grace 18) Holy Ground 19) Treacherous 20) The Last Time (featuring Gary Lightbody)
Honestly I adore this album so much as a whole and ranking every song was so hard. Holy Ground honestly had a lot of potiental I hated the arrangement but if I heard an acoustic version I would be sold, much like State of Grace which I wasn't huge on the original but the acoustic I'm obsessed with. Moving onto our second album which is one of Taylor's newest.
Tumblr media
folklore! Funny enough on first listen I wasn't as into it as everyone else was but trust me, the relisten definitely helped me change my mind. I also heard the lakes for the first time which I loved. Since it's the only bonus track I'm going to say I definitely wished it had made the main album over some of the other songs on it. Let's dive into my thoughts and rankings.
Favorite Track: mad woman Least Favorite Track: invisible string Album Ranking: 9th/9
1) mad woman 2) the 1 3) the last great american dynasty 4) mirrorball 5) hoax 6) peace 7) seven 8) august 9) my tears richocet 10) the lakes 11) cardigan 12) betty 13) illicit affairs 14) epiphany 15) this is me trying 16) exile (featuring Bon Iver) 17) invisible string
Okay I know cardigan and betty being so low is going make people unhappy but honestly I just loved the other songs better listed above it. So many gorgeous songs and a great era for Taylor. It's not my favorite era and still falls in my lower half of her albums but I can appreciate the tracks on it more than I did before with the relisten.
Now onto Taylor's most recent album which came up next in our randomization in evermore
Tumblr media
Unlike folklore on original listen I absolutely adored this album and had it in my top tier Taylor albums but will that opinion hold up? Let's find out.
Favorite Track: no body, no crime (featuring HAIM) Least Favorite Track: gold rush Favorite Bonus Track: it's time to go Album Ranking: 7th/9
1) no body, no crime (featuring HAIM) 2) happiness 3) champagne problems 4) willow 5) cowboy like me 6) dorothea 7) majorie 8) evermore (featuring Bon Iver) 9) closure 10) long story short 11) ‘tis the damn season 12) ivy 13) it’s time to go 14) coney island (featuring The National) 15) right where you left me 16) tolerate it 17) gold rush Okay let's talk about the relisten, it still held up but to me the one thing I didn't love about the album was the bonus tracks didn't add much to the original album so I kind of see why they were bonus tracks. I enjoyed the album none the less and I do think that most of my opinions are somewhat popular. I only see people being mad about 'tis the damn season being so low but honestly 1-11, I loved all the tracks so.
Up next is the rerelease that started it all, Fearless!
Tumblr media
Now let's see after 13 years (hey Taylor's lucky number) if my opinion of this iconic album changed. Back in the day I was so obsessed with this album so let's see how I feel now!
Favorite Track: You're Not Sorry Least Favorite Track: The Way I Loved You Bonus Tracks I Wish was on the main album: Forever and Always (Piano Verison) and Come in with the Rain Favorite Bonus Track: Forever and Always (Piano Version) Album Ranking: 4th/9
1) You’re Not Sorry 2) White Horse 3) Love Story 4) You Belong with Me 5) Change 6) Forever and Always (Piano Version) 7) Fifteen 8) Hey Stephen 9) Come in with the Rain 10) Jump Then Fall 11) Fearless 12) Forever and Always 13) The Best Day 14) The Other Side of the Door 15) Breathe (featuring Colbie Cailaitt) 16) Untouchable 17) SuperStar 18) Tell Me Why 19) The Way I Loved You
I still remember when this album was first coming out how jazzed and excited I was for it. It was highly anticipated for me being that I had fallen in love with Taylor from her debut album and listening back it still holds up as one of my favorite albums. The only two tracks I wasn't into back then and still am not into are Tell Me Why and The Way I Loved You. Other than those two tracks the entire album is incredible to listen to. I'm so excited to hear Taylor's versions of all these songs and who knows maybe my mind will change on some of them.
Moving onto the next album to be randomly selected which is almost every Swiftie's favorite 1989.
Tumblr media
Funny enough, originally this album isn't in my top favorites so who knows if my opinion will change on a relisten. Let's find out!
Favorite Track: Clean Least Favorite Track: I Wish You Would Bonus Tracks I Wish was on the main album: All of them?! Come on Taylor what's up with 1989 and Red having like some of their best tracks as bonus tracks. I'm mad haha. Favorite Bonus Track: Wonderland (gee I wonder why) Album Ranking: 5th/9
1) Clean 2) Wonderland 3) Wildest Dreams 4) This Love 5) You are in Love 6) Welcome to New York 7) Shake It Off 8) Blank Space 9) Bad Blood 10) Style 11) How You Get the Girl 12) Out of the Woods 13) New Romantics 14) I Know Places 15) All You Had to Do was Stay 16) I Wish You Would
Okay listening back. I now get the hype behind it. Listening to it with bonus tracks honestly makes all the difference. No joke. It's a much better album with the bonus tracks added. Honestly if Wonderland and You are in Love were on the main album it would've been top tier to me. Thank God for the deluxe version but team Taylor what is up with you hiding some of her best tracks and only releasing them on the bonus tracks? I'm mad. Also speaking on Wonderland, I adore the song even without the rumours of it being about my favorite celebrity Dianna Agron. Had the bonus tracks been on the main album it would higher but as a whole I love the album.
And now for our next album, which is reputation!
Tumblr media
This is probably Taylor's most controversial albums, some love it and some hate it. I actually am somewhere in the middle. I love some of the tracks while others I could've done without. Let's see where it goes for me listening back.
Favorite Song: New Year's Day Least Favorite: Dancing with Our Hands Tied Album Ranking: 8th/9
1) New Year's Day 2) Gorgeous 3) Don’t Blame Me 4) This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things 5) I Did Something Bad 6) Dress 7) Delicate 8) Call It What You Want To 9) ...Ready for It? 10) Look What You Made Me Do 11) King of my Heart 12) Getaway Car 13) So It Goes... 14) End Game (featuring Ed Sheeran and Future) 15) Dancing with Our Hands Tied
Okay I feel like my choices here are controversal especially Getaway Car being pretty low on the album. Honestly I liked the song just wasn't into the hype that everyone else said about it, sorry you guys. Also Dancing with Our Hands Tied on the ALBUM is my least favorie song. I absolutely adored Taylor's acoustic version that was in the rep Tour. Had she released that on the album it would be after Look What You Made Me Do. The arrangement on the album I just didn't care for and I prefer acoustic Taylor which I think a lot of you gather from my top picks.
Anyway moving onto to our next album that was randomized which is...Taylor Swift!
Tumblr media
Ah yes the album that started it all. 15 years ago I discovered Taylor Swift via this album thanks to CMT. I was a huge country music stan back in the day who knew how this one album would lead to a career I've been following for 15 years. Now how does this album hold up? Let's find out!
Favorite Song: Should've Said No Least Favorite Song: A Perfectly Good Heart Bonus Tracks I Wish was on the main album: Invisible and I'm Only Me When I'm with You Favorite Bonus Track: Invisible Album Ranking: 3rd/9
1) Should’ve Said No 2) Invisible 3) Cold as You 4) Picture to Burn 5) Our Song 6) The Outside 7) A Place in This World 8) Teardrops on My Guitar 9) Stay Beautiful 10) Tim McGraw 11) I’m Only Me When I’m with You 12) Mary’s Song (Oh My My My) 13) Tied Together with a Smile 14) A Perfectly Good Heart
This album still holds up 15 years later and made me so nostalgic. This had to be the hardest album for songs to rank thus far. Taylor hit it out of the park on her very first album crazy. She set the bar very high, funny enough it's the first album that a bonus track is my least favorite track but the entire album is a great listen, especially if you love country. It's very different from anything else Taylor did but that's what's so charming about it.
And now onto our second to last album which is another one of my favorites and the only album Taylor wrote fully on her own, Speak Now.
Tumblr media
The album cover is up there with Red as my favorite and I'm excited to listen back to this album. I remember how much I enjoyed it when it was first released. Excited to see what I think 11 years later. Let's find out.
Favorite Track: Haunted (Acoustic Version) Least Favorite Track: Last Kiss Bonus Tracks I Wish was on the main album: All of them. Dang it Taylor they deserved to be on the main album. Favorite Bonus Track: Haunted (Acoustic Version) Album Ranking: 2nd/9
1) Haunted (Acoustic Version) 2) Long Live 3) Haunted 4) Better Than Revenge 5) Back to December (Acoustic Version) 6) Mine 7) Back to December 8) Mean 9) If This Was a Movie 10) Innocent 11) Dear John 12) Speak Now 13) Ours 14) Never Grow Up 15) The Story of Us 16) Superman 17) Enchanted 18) Sparks Fly 19) Last Kiss
One of Taylor's absolute best albms and it was incredibly hard to rank these songs. I know people are going to be mad about Enchanted being low but I just didn't love it as much as the other tracks on the album, this after all is one of the best albums she ever released so it's incredibly hard to make the call.
Moving onto our final album which I've called my absolute favorite, Lover.
Tumblr media
It's only been an year since its release but will it hold up as my favorite album? Let's find out!
Favorite Track: Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince Least Favorite Track: It’s Nice to Have a Friend Album Ranking: 1st/9
1) Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince 2) Paper Rings 3) Lover 4) Soon You’ll Get Better (featuring The Chicks) 5) You Need to Calm Down 6) The Archer 7) The Man 8) Daylight 9) Afterglow 10) I Think He Knows 11) False God 12) Death by a Thousand Cuts 13) Cruel Summer 14) Cornelia Street 15) I Forgot That You Existed 16) ME! (featuring Brendan Urie from Panic! at the Disco) 17) London Boy 18) It’s Nice to Have a Friend
Yep it held up. This album is my favorite thing Taylor ever released. It was a tough call because I loved all of her top albums so much. Miss Americana still is my favorite performance which is no surprise, I was obsessed when this song came out 2 years ago. It's Nice to Have a Friend is the weakest track on the album but by no means is it a bad track. The entire album is a great listen all the way through, the only song that's hard to listen to especially if you have a sick parent "Soon You'll Get Better" I literally bawled after I finished it. So if you don't want an emotional song that might make you sad, it's best to skip it even though it's one of favorite tracks.
And that does it for us here. Hope you enjoyed my album reviews! Just to recap here's the rankings of all of Taylor's Albums:
1) Lover 2) Speak Now 3) Taylor Swift 4) Fearless 5) 1989 6) Red 7) evermore 8) reputation 9) folklore
Excited to see what's to come with the rerelease of Fearless and to hear the songs released from the vault. I've heard a few of her unreleased songs and honestly there are quite a few that I'm hoping are released. Thanks for enjoying us on this journey as always be kind and always spread love <3

Stalker-plagued Taylor Swift has break-in at New York home
This truly makes me sick. I can't imagine how scary it is for her to be put in situations like this. We all know how much she loves her fans but I understand her hesitancy at letting us too far into her life because there are always the crazy ones that take it too far. Have I always dreamed of meeting Taylor of course but that's why I dress up at her concerts and support her in all her endeavors respectfully so hopefully she will one day want to meet me at a time of her choosing in a controlled environment like her backstage meet and greets or album release parties. Never could I imagine just showing up and trying to force her to meet me. I truly hope one day fans will realize that although she is a celebrity she is a person who deserves her privacy and the ability to feel safe in her own homes without fear of intruders. I'm sorry @taylorswift that these people keep invading your sanctuaries I hope one day you won't have to worry about these things and can just be happy and not fearful of stalkers! Ok rant over lol sorry this story just made me so angry on her behalf. All my love This Invisible Swifty Kat 💜 @taylorswift @taylornation

Hi @taylorswift! We are four Italian fans from Rome. We found the Lover commercial here in our city and celebrated Lover's release together, listening to your album! And the Lover balloons 😻 I hope you like this idea ❤️ @taylornation 💖
Tumblr media
Hey Taylor! I’m Beatrice, hope you remember me! I love Lover so much! Since it came out last week I just listened to it! It’s very difficult to just pick one song as a favourite! I genuinely love all of them. The Archer and Daylight make me think about my life, Cruel Summer and London Boy make me want to dance, Cornelia Street, Death By a Thousand Cuts and Soon You’ll Get Better make me think about the people I love and I’m afraid to lose or to feel certain type of feelings. You know, during summer 2016 I lost all the people I considered my friends and I lived a year completely alone. I faced all the situations alone, I couldn’t share all the bad and good things with no one and that made me really vulnerable. Then you came back with Look What You Made Do and reputation and I was excited cause I knew I wouldn’t be alone anymore and I started being active on Tumblr, I met a lot of swifties and then suddenly I received a message on Tumblr from TN and I met you in London. I was so happy cause after all my darkest moments, you came back and decided to meet me, it was like you knew my entire situation and you wanted to make me a surprise. I will never thank you enough for deciding to meet me and make my dream come true. Every day I think about how lucky I was, I think about that night, how much you were caring, humble, funny and beautiful. Thank you for inspiring me to be a better version of me, a girl who lives in freedom, to be strong and always searching the truth in a sea of lies. I love you Taylor, thank you for always be next to me in my worst and best times and inspiring me with your art 💖💘💖💘💖💘💖💘💖💘💖💘💖 Love, Beatrice (Twitter: ciwyw_13)

New Reputation: Taylor Swift shares intel on TS7, fan theories, and her next era
Snakes begone. The 29-year-old superstar is back with a new album and a new outlook on life. We go inside the pop monarch's latest chapter.
THE PALM TREES ARRIVED IN FEBRUARY, seven in all, set against a pastel blue backdrop with superimposed stars. It appeared that a new Taylor Swift era was upon us — that the old happy-go-lucky Taylor was not, in fact, dead. Or did it? It wasonly an Instagram photo, just one more picture in an infinite content scroll. But it also came from a pop star known for prodigious hint-dropping, whose fans turn every piece of info into an online archaeological dig.
As expected, the summery post sent Swifties sifting through each detail with a fine-tooth comb. What did the trees symbolize? An overdue vacation? A recently purchased beach house? A secret palm-frond collection? Or maybe, as many surmised, it was new music. One Twitter user predicted that the number of stars in the background of the photo hinted at a single drop: “There’s about 60/61 [stars]️. There’s 61 days until April 26, FRIDAY, a SINGLE RELEASE day!” Another said it was the unofficial announcement of her next LP: “Okay so in this picture there are 4 palm trees on the left (4 country albums). There are two palm trees on the right (2 pop albums). There is one large palm tree in the middle. This represents her new album.” These may sound like ludicrous conspiracy theories — for the record, they were mostly correct — but they fit firmly within the Taylor Swift Musical Universe (it’s like the Marvel Cinematic Universe but with more guitars and fewer Stan Lee cameos).
“I posted that the day that I finished the seventh album,” says Swift about the photo. “I couldn’t expect [my fans] to know that. I figured they’d figure it out later, but a lot of their theories were actually correct. Those Easter eggs were just trying to establish that tone, which I foreshadowed ages ago in a Spotify vertical video for ‘Delicate’ by painting my nails those [pastel] colors.”
It’s now April, and the 29-year-old pop star is in a Los Angeles photo studio, giving her first sit-down magazine interview in three years. She wants to discuss the art of placing hints inside her work, as well as the upcoming record, which she recorded as soon as she finished the Reputation Tour. She’s also keen on detailing her own obsessions, talking up the TV shows, books, and songs that help shape her outlook on life.
Over the past 13 years, Swift has perfected the pop culture feedback loop: She shares updates about her life and drops hints about new music, which fans then gobble up and re-promote with their own theories, which Swift then re-shares on her Tumblr or incorporates into future clues. It’s like a T-Swift-built Escher staircase of personal memories and moments that tease what’s next. “I’ve trained them to be that way,” she says of her fans’ astute detective work. Swift is a pop culture fanatic herself (see: the jean jacket she’s wearing on the EW cover) and has an innate understanding of the lengths her audience will go to be a part of the original creation. “I love that they like the cryptic hint-dropping. Because as long as they like it, I’ll keep doing it. It’s fun. It feels mischievous and playful.”
Through this approach, Swift has designed the ultimate artistic scavenger hunt — and it’s easy to get swept up in its drama, even if you don’t listen to her music. Her moments aren’t always hidden, either. Sometimes Swift highlights aspects of her world just so fans feel like they’re on the journey with her. Like the time in March 2018 when pop singer Hayley Kiyoko was accused of shading Swift after mentioning her name during an interview. On Tumblr, Swift re-shared a fan’s post, adding commentary that defended Kiyoko, which immediately dispelled any conflicts between the two artists; Swift’s post subsequently received more than 29,000 notes. Four months later, she invited Kiyoko on stage during the Reputation Tour to sing her hit “Curious.” Kiyoko returned the favor when she had Swift join her that December at a benefit on behalf of the LGBTQ organization the Ally Coalition to perform “Delicate.” Fans of both artists were elated by the mutual support.
The feedback loop also extends outside of music. In October 2018, Swift broke her silence about politics by publicly endorsing two candidates for office in her adopted state of Tennessee, while encouraging her followers to register to vote. She kept up the civic momentum through Election Day when she asked fans to post selfies after voting; Swift then eagerly re-promoted her favorites on Instagram stories.
This practice of sharing and re-sharing and sharing again is why listeners consider Swift one of the world’s most accessible pop stars, someone willing to not only interact with her audience but invite them to secret listening sessions, or make the occasional surprise visit to their wedding or prom. It’s a symbiotic relationship, one that, as Swift tells EW, helped her dig out of the darker era of reputation. “It’s definitely the fans that made that tonal shift in the way I was feeling,” she says. “Songwriters need to communicate, and part of communicating correctly is when you put out a message that is understood the way you meant it. reputation was interesting because I’d never before had an album that wasn’t fully understood until it was seen live. When it first came out everyone thought it was just going to be angry; upon listening to the whole thing they realized it’s actually about love and friendship, and finding out what your priorities are.”
Then, during the Reputation Tour, she had an epiphany: that despite the caricature that she thought had been created of her, there were many people who saw what others had simply refused to. “I would look out into the audience and I’d see these amazing, thoughtful, caring, wonderful, empathetic people,” she says. “So often with our takedown culture, talking s— about a celebrity is basically the same as talking s— about the new iPhone. So when I go and I meet fans, I see that they actually see me as a flesh-and-blood human being. That — as contrived as it may sound — changed [me] completely, assigning humanity to my life.”
At tour’s end, she channeled that positive energy into the studio, recording the new album in just under three months. But the fast pace won’t mean a short LP. Swift confirmed that her seventh record (she hasn’t announced a title yet; the working nickname among fans is TS7) will include more songs than any of her previous releases. “I try not to go into making an album with any expectation,” she says. “I started to write so much that I knew immediately it would probably be bigger.”
The project will also feature a mix of old and new collaborators (on the candy-coated lead single “ME!” Swift brought in Panic! At the Disco frontman Brendon Urie and coproducer Joel Little, both of whom she had never worked with), but she is unsurprisingly coy about doling out much more information, as if doing so would break the carefully honed T-Swiftian feedback loop. “There’s a lot of a lot on this album,” she says. “I’m trying to convey an emotional spectrum. I definitely don’t wanna have too much of one thing…. You get some joyful songs and you get the bops, as they say.” There’s also, she adds, some “really, really, really, really sad songs,” but “not enough to where you need to worry about me.”
She gives us one more clue: The true distinction between TS7 and reputation is in the delivery. “This time around I feel more comfortable being brave enough to be vulnerable, because my fans are brave enough to be vulnerable with me. Once people delve into the album, it’ll become pretty clear that that’s more of the fingerprint of this — that it’s much more of a singer-songwriter, personal journey than the last one.”
The past month has seen a deluge of Swift activity, from the release of the new single to dropping more hints in interviews about the record and its title, which is apparently hidden somewhere inside the “ME!” music video (current fan guesses include Kaleidoscope and Daisy). But if the Easter eggs from the pop star seem like a business-as-usual routine, she says this album does indeed mark a new era of her life, where she’s been better able to prioritize what’s important to her.
“Our priorities can get messed up existing in a society that puts a currency on curating the way people see your life,” she says. “Social media has given people a way to express their art. I use it to connect with fans. But on the downside you feel like there are 3 trillion new invisible hoops that you have to jump through, and you feel like you’ll never be able to jump through them all correctly. I — along with a lot of my friends and fans — am trying to figure out how to navigate living my life and not just curating what I want people to think living my life is. I’m not always able to maintain a balance, and I think that’s important for everyone to know about. We’re always learning, and that’s something that I also had to learn — that I’ve got to be brave enough to learn. Learning in public is so humiliating sometimes…. Do I feel more balanced in my life than I ever have before? Um, probably yeah. But is that permanent? No. And I think being okay with that has put me in a bit of a better position.” Strong words to live by, to quote, to re-share, to tweet back to her, and see if she’ll respond.

My Lover Secret Session Experience
A month ago I was lucky to attend the Lovers Secret Session at Nashville. Here’s my secret session experience. @taylorswift @taylornation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Receiving my DM
I received my DM on July 24. I swear to God I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was shaking because I’ve never been noticed by Taylor ever. What’s really mysterious is that I received the DM on Tumblr when my biggest account is on Twitter. I admit I clicked on TN’s icon numerous times to make sure the message was coming from the real Taylor Nation. I ran to my niece and told her and she told me that she knew it would happen to me. After like 30 mins when I was calmed I sent them my information and waited.
Waiting time
For the next 2 days my anxiety was off the roof. On July 26 around 6pm I received a call from NY. They thanked me for being such a good fan and invited me to an event on August 4. I couldn’t believe it! Part of me didn’t feel like it was real at all. How could it be that Taylor Swift knew about me and wanted to invite me to her house in Nashville?
I booked my flight and hotel stay the next day. So it was happening I was going to Nashville and it was a secret. How perfect is it to go to Nashville for the first time to meet Taylor?! After I booked everything the wait started. It was extremely difficult to keep the secret from Meg and Audrey. I remember asking Audrey if she thinks Lover Secret Session won’t happen since the Album release was approaching literally 1 hour before I received my DM from Taylor Nation.
Arriving to Nashville
On August 2nd, I took my flight to Nashville and then checked in to the hotel.  I think I spotted some swifties but I’m really shy so I didn’t approached them. That night I brainstormed what I wanted to tell Taylor. I wanted to tell her how I’ve been a fan since I was in High School and how her music helped me when I needed the most. How she has a song I can relate to for basically every emotion. I wanted her to know how much I appreciate that she makes a real effort to include the fandom in fun activities like figuring out what easter egg means. It drives us crazy but it's really fun to read different theories. Another thing I did that night was thinking what pose I wanted to take a picture with her. I’m really short( 5’1”) so I googled pictures she has with friends and found a really cute picture where she hugs Hayley Williams from the back and they are celebrating Camila’s birthday. I just thought that pose was super cute.
The next day I went to the Waffle house to eat breakfast and when I was walking to the Waffle house a swiftie told me that she loved my shirt. I was wearing my Lover crop top. That made me really happy. I went to target to get nailpolish to get my nails ready for the session but couldn’t decide. I guess I was really nervous. I walked back to the hotel and got ready to meet everyone.
When I arrived I saw some familiar faces. I was instantly relieved because I was afraid I would know anyone there. I saw Gracie, Lea, Cait, Elise, Jacie and so many more cool Swifties. I connected with: Brandon and Lea the most. We all went to a room to wait until it was time to go to Taylor’s house. We waited for a while but it was nice to mingle with everyone. When it was time to go into the bus that’s when it really hit me that I was meeting Taylor! Also the moment when the gates from her house opened is one of those I will never forget!
Arriving to Taylor’s House
When we arrived to the patio area in the house there was food there. I thought I wouldn’t eat but I did. I had a Lover cookie, a rice krispie made by Taylor!, nuggets, a pizza slice and fruit. We waited for a while before going into the living room. Brendon confirmed the water in the pool was cold. That area is beautiful: She has a sign that says Wine and we all recognized it from that Insta story she posted about Game of thrones. She has really cute picture frames. I remember a really cute one she has with her whole family next to a staircase that leads to one area with a restroom. Before they let us into the living room area I went to the restroom exactly when they started to let in to the living room. I rushed down to go to the living room. The room was beautiful. Taylor has a scrabble framed with really cute messages which I think are for her mom and a Peter Max Artwork hanging.
Secret Session
When Taylor arrived and said Hey Guys. I couldn’t believe it! Tree and Valheria Rocha were there! Taylor introduced her family and Austin, Scott and Adrea went into the room and welcomed us. After they left the room Taylor said some rules about the Secret Session so we are clear about what we can say and what we can’t share. She made a really cool joke referencing Men in Black cause obviously she doesn’t expect us to act like we weren’t in the secret session. One thing that really touched me was when Taylor told us to keep the lyrics safe. She is very proud of this album and she’s the sweetest person ever.
The whole album is a masterpiece! I loved the whole album. Some moments that I’ll always treasure during the listening session are the following:
Crying  with Lover like a baby cause the lyrics really hit because they are so pure.
Listening to The Man because it’s such a powerful song and gosh I’m so glad Taylor is talking about Equality!
All of us crying with Soon You’ll get better. I remember Gracie holding my hand. I’m so glad she did.
Taylor encouraging us to make friends there honestly I’m so happy I shared these memories with everyone.
Meeting Taylor
There was a lot of people meeting Taylor that day. We were 113! Taylor was so nice to meet all of us when she was still jet lagged. Around 3:30 A.M. TN called my name.
As soon as I entered the room Taylor said: Hi Cecilia and I approached her saying omg and we hugged. I love that color on you. We will match for our picture.
Taylor said sorry for making me wait so much. I told her it was ok. I waited so many years to meet her that a few hrs was nothing. She said thank you.
I said thank you for inviting me and let me listen to Lover. I told her I pre ordered the deluxes albums and she said thank you! I told her that I'm probably getting the album from itunes because it's so good. She said thank you. She told me if I had time to see them and I told her that a lil and that I wanted to sit down.
Then she asked me if I wanted to take a picture and I said Yes. I told her if we could do like her hugging me from the back. I didn’t like the first picture and asked if we could take another and they we did take another one. :)
I told her about my trip to japan and that I got her a fridge magnet and she was happy and said: aw you got me a magnet.
She told me to have a safe trip back. I got my merch and went to bus.
So that’s it! There’s definitely more to my story but I feel like I kinda blanked out sometimes cause it’s so shocking to meet Taylor and be invited to her house. I don’t know if Taylor will read this but I want her to know that I had the best time. Taylor thank you for inviting me. I’m so grateful because I made friends in your house and I’m so glad we all share all these beautiful memories together. The album is already a success and I can’t wait to attend the tour and listen to the album live!
Love,
Cecilia

New Reputation: Taylor Swift shares intel on TS7, fan theories, and her next era
By: Alex Suskind for Entertainment Weekly Date: May 9th 2019

We’re always learning, and that’s something that I also had to learn — that I’ve got to be brave enough to learn. Learning in public is so humiliating sometimes… Do I feel more balanced in my life than I ever have before? Um, probably yeah. But is that permanent? No. And I think being okay with that has put me in a bit of a better position.” Strong words to live by, to quote, to re-share, to tweet back to her, and see if she’ll respond.

hey so just wanted to share my perspective on the whole Kimye thing. I’m really happy for taylor like I genuinely am we knew she was telling the truth and we knew it would surface one day. however, I feel like in light of the truth I think we all need to be a bit mindful and respectful and this is addressed at no one in particular just something as a fandom we should be considerate of. I think that #taylortoldthetruth should be trending that’s fair enough and I want that to go number one because she did in fact tell the truth. I think however that as swifties we have seen Taylor go through cancel culture and she herself described it as “being told to go kill yourself” through engaging in the tweet of Kanye west is over party, we are being as bad to him as his fandom was to us. it’s been four years, Taylor released an epic album out of it I do not think at all that it is appropriate for our fandom to be stooping down to his level. we are better than that. yes he is a liar I am in no way denying or belittling that fact but I think as a fandom we need to take a moment to consider the way in which we are going about celebrating this. Taylor didn’t deserve the hatred back then but Kanye also doesn’t deserve it now. let’s think about the impacts of cancel culture before we jump in and remember that we should be celebrating Taylor’s truth not his lie. make this about Taylor. Not about him because bad press is still press. @taylorswift @taylornation

2019 WAS THE BEST YEAR EVER 💗✨
Tumblr media
It's almost the end of the year. Thanks to TAYLOR & TAYLOR NATION I had a wonderful year. 2019 was literally BEST YEAR EVER!!
January 10th, 2019 was my 22nd birthday. 22 years is a special year for swifties and on this birthday Taylor Nation celebrated my birthday!! This was the best birthday celebration 🎂
Tumblr media
A miracle occurred in my life. I received DM from Taylor Nation on Twitter and Tumblr on July 22th. I couldn't understand what happened to me when I saw the word "CONFIDENTAL MESSAGE". I was desperate to calm myself.
Tumblr media
On July 24th, I received a call from Taylor Nation. They explained details to me. I'm so grateful to them for their kindness ❤️
Tumblr media
And finally, my dream came true on August 6th. I MET TAYLOR SWIFT, TALKED WITH HER AND HUGGED HER!! In addition to that, being able to listen to the song before the release and eating her baked cookies was also the best memories. I never forget this day.

According to Taylor, she has screenshots of photos of Secret Session participants. And she had seen pictures of the signs I made and knew my name. I couldn't believe it because I had never noticed by her before. I was so glad 💕✨
Taylor released "Lover". I love this album and all the songs impressed me. August 27th, she saved my photo on her phone & posted it on Twitter. This was my first time noticed by her. This is also an unforgettable memory and I was very happy💖

October 8th, Taylor Nation replied to my post about "present box for Taylor". I was glad they saw my handmade box and liked this. Their words gave me happiness. Taylor nation is always be so kind to swifties💞
