Jules Brunfaut, The Maison Hannon (Hannon House), (Hotel Hannon) in Brussels, Belgium. 1903.
Address: Av. de la Jonction 1, 1060 Saint-Gilles, Belgia
The Maison Hannon is one of the masterpieces of art nouveau in Brussels, uniting Belgian art nouveau with French art nouveau in a symbolist and dreamlike universe. Built on the corner of Avenue Brugmann and Avenue de la Jonction in Saint-Gilles, it was commissioned by the Hannon couple whose name it bears, Marie and Edouard, from their architect friend Jules Brunfaut in 1902.

Congrats on the milestone!!
Could I get a 🦀 👑 drabble with the line ❛ is that my shirt? ❜ for Butch? Thank you :)
Ooh, this is cute <3
I hope you like it! 😁
Butch still felt like he was buzzing. He felt higher than when Paul Hannon had shared those pills with him when they were still in school, felt like he could fly up and bust through the roof of your metal-walled Megaton bedroom.
How he'd managed to get a wink of sleep after last night... last night with you, he'll never know. Now though, now he was up, he was up and he was ready for another day at your side, another day of being free, kicking ass, another day that could maybe lead to another night just like this last one... Damn, he hoped so.
If you felt half as good as he did today, then you had to be looking forward to doin' something like this again, right?
Footsteps echoed through the house as you came up the stairs, and even before seeing you, Butch felt his heart soar.
"You awake now, baby?" You peeked up at him as you made it up to the second floor.
A boyish grin overtook his face before he could stop it.
"Oh yeah, baby, I'm up."
Even from a few feet away, he could see the way your face heated as you made the final steps to the foot of the bed. He couldn't keep his eyes off you as you moved to sit in front of him. You were only wearing these little shorts, and a thin, white, long-sleeved--
"Say, Lone, is that my shirt?"
Your eyes widened as you settled on the mattress, but otherwise you showed no sign of hearing his inquiry.
"Here. I made coffee." You handed out a mug to him brusquely, and Butch happily scooted forward to take it, conscious of his bare form as he brought the blanket over with him and kept it settled in his lap.
"That's okay, Lone. You look pretty good in it, is all I was gonna say."
As his eyes met yours, you looked away sheepishly, an embarrassed grin playing at your lips.
It only made him feel more bold.
"Last night was good, huh?"
You nearly choked at the statement, hot coffee threatening to spill form you in your surprise.
Butch only laughed, and your face heated even further. There was no way the blush wasn't physically noticeable by now.
"Mmhm. Yeah... It was." You chuckled nervously, still feeling Butch's eyes on you as you wiped at your mouth.
"It was..." You continued slowly, almost unwittingly, maybe just to fill the silence, as your gaze roamed over Butch's bare torso, up to his lightly-haired chest, to his strong shoulders... "It was really good, huh? I've never..."
You swallowed as your eyes met his again, but this time you didn't look away.
"Never felt that way about anyone before." You could hear your heart pounding in your ears as you finished.
"Me neither." He said, almost easily, and smiled, and you noticed the way his eyes creased and shone with genuine emotion.
"Man, I just mean... I mean, I woke up this morning feeling like I was on cloud 9 or something, you know?"
You smiled as you nodded to him, and you felt a subtle touch on your hand. It was like he hadn't even noticed, he was just absent-mindedly stroking over the back of your hand, up over your wrist, brushing at the sleeve of your shirt-- his shirt, as he spoke. Just needing to touch you.
A pleasant fuzzy feeling erupted in your stomach, right where the knots had been forming all morning as you'd waited for him to wake.
"Just makes me glad we left that vault." He continued softly, "Left all that behind us... Cuz, I mean, we never coulda gotten here could we? With Amata, an' the way she felt about me, an' Paul and them... The Tunnel Snakes... Didn't leave a lotta room for this, y'know?"
"Yeah... that was tough." You set down your mug on the end table, opting instead to crawl back into bed with your companion. He shifted to accommodate you beside him, pulling the covers up so you could slide underneath and join him in the pleasant coziness.
"I always knew I liked you, you know. But it just... it seemed like it could never be. With my father's expectations, and, yeah..." You trailed off, looking away.
Butch's arm wrapped around you, pulling you in, and you felt his warmth seeping in through your thin shirt.
"I was worried I would never have this with you. And then, when I was forced out, well, I don't think my odds really got better, huh?"
You both chuckled a bit at that, and you felt his breath spill over your head.
"Nah, I wouldn't say that." He jostled you playfully as he spoke, "The interest was there, baby, just... yeah, a bit harder to get to ya."
You hummed, resting your head against his shoulder as his arm stayed comfortingly around you.
"But you did." You said softly.
"Course I did." Butch almost snorted at you, his hand's grip tugging you into him further. "A Tunnel Snake never gives in. You should know that by now, babe."

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
May 3, 2023
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
MAY 4, 2023
“No one should assume that the Fed can really protect the economy and the financial system and our reputation globally from the damage that [a U.S. default] might inflict,” Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said today. “We shouldn’t even be talking about a world in which the U.S. doesn’t pay its bills. It just shouldn’t be a thing,” he added. Powell commented on the debt ceiling crisis when he was in front of the press to announce an interest rate hike of a quarter of a percentage point intended to reduce inflation further. Interest rate hikes make it more expensive to borrow money, which should cool the economy. At the same time, more expensive borrowing upsets the stock market, which tends to fall after a rate hike, as it did today. Interestingly, while Republicans are blaming Democrats for creating inflation by pumping too much money into the economy through social welfare programs, The Wall Street Journal yesterday embraced the argument that a key factor in inflation has been price gouging by corporations. A piece by Paul Hannon noted that businesses are boosting their profit margins, confident that consumers will blame supply chain issues and higher energy prices rather than the companies padding their profits. Oil giant Shell just announced almost $9.6 billion in profits in the first three months of 2023. But Powell’s management of inflation is a smaller story right now than the debt ceiling. Today, the White House Council of Economic Advisers explained three different scenarios. If the debt ceiling crisis runs right up to the edge of default and is resolved before that default, unemployment would rise by 0.1% and 200,000 jobs would be at risk. A default lasting less than a week would cost 500,000 jobs, creating a 0.3% rise in unemployment. And if the U.S. goes into a longer default, the Council of Economic Advisers says, 8.3 million people will lose their jobs and the stock market will fall by 45%. In every case, economic growth will turn negative. The White House yesterday released a fact sheet outlining the cuts Republicans are demanding before they will agree to raise the debt ceiling. In addition to costing jobs and throwing the nation into a recession, their demands will cut nearly 7,500 rail inspection days, shut down at least 375 air traffic control towers, and cut $5.2 billion from highway infrastructure projects. The cuts will eliminate nearly 200,000 child care slots, cut 1.7 million people from food security programs, and remove rental assistance from nearly 600,000 families. In short, the Republicans’ demands are a way to force the country to accept their vision of the country, one that relies on the markets and private enterprise and slashes government action to provide a basic social safety net, promote infrastructure, regulate business, and protect civil rights. So far, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has stayed out of the fight over raising the debt ceiling, both because he was out of the Senate recovering from a fall, and because he has apparently wanted to let House speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) deal with the far-right extremists in the conference while appearing to give establishment Republicans plausible deniability from the extremists’ demands. But Biden is trying to pull McConnell into the negotiations to emphasize that the fight over the debt ceiling is not about him and McCarthy, but a struggle that involves the whole government. While McConnell seems to be trying to hold Senate Republicans apart from the House extremists, a story that has fallen under the radar is that Senator Steve Daines (R-MT), chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the man responsible for the fundraising to get Republicans elected to the U.S. Senate, has endorsed Donald Trump. Daines is in close touch both with Trump and with the wealthiest Republican donors. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) made it clear to Jonathan Swan and Carl Hulse of The New York Times that all the Republicans care about is winning back the majority. “I really don't care what the tactics are,“ he said. Not caring about tactics so long as you are in power might well be a problem for another Republican, former Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker. Senior political reporter for The Daily Beast Roger Sollenberger dropped a story tonight alleging that Walker solicited hundreds of thousands of dollars from a billionaire industrialist who believed he was donating to Walker’s Senate campaign, only to have Walker take the money personally. If this story pans out, it suggests Walker will be in legal trouble for election finance issues.

Queensland Parliament House transformed into period film set for Disney+ series Nautilus
A heritage building in the heart of Brisbane was transformed into a period film set complete with horse-drawn carriages as filming on a major series returned.
written by: Amy Price (September 6, 2022 - 3:40PM)
It was an unusual sight in Brisbane on Monday as horses-drawn carriages lined the entrance to Queensland’s Parliament House.
The heritage building in the heart of the CBD was transformed into a period wonderland on Monday night with Disney+ series Nautilus returning to the city to film scenes at the George St location. Locals shared images of actors and extras dressed in period costumes with some riding horse-drawn carriages, which lined the street in front of large blue screens.

Gerald Hannon, a key figure in the gay liberation movement, has died at age 77
Friends and colleagues recall one of Canada’s most infamous journalists and longtime board member of Xtra’s publisher
Canadian queers owe a lot to the legacy of Gerald Hannon, one of the key contributors to The Body Politic, a groundbreaking homo magazine of the early 1970s. Hannon, who had Parkinson's disease, died by assisted suicide on May 9, 2022. Xtra gathered up recollections from close friends and published them here. Below is one of these entries:
Tumblr media
“After a swanky dinner, Herbie pulled out his dick and slapped it on the table”
It is hard to imagine how my life would have turned out differently had I not met Gerald Hannon. He opened not only the world of gay people to me, but also opera. Gerald was my first boyfriend; at the time he was the most famous homosexual in Canada, and even still today is the only person I have ever met who actually saw Sputnik.
Gerald and I met in 1982, at a party at Michael Lynch’s house, where I was James Fraser’s date. This was the pre-AIDS era where at parties The Body Politic people would nod and seriously opine, “Promiscuity really is the glue that holds the gay community together.” I said “Oh, who is that, he’s cute.” James then introduced me to Gerald. It turned out I really liked Gerald. In fact, he was quite fun.
At the beginning I was still in architect school; things were tight, but he wasn’t any wealthier—full-time at Pink Triangle Press was paying $8K/year—so, it worked. Gerald, who was once slightly frightened by the Royal York Hotel—emerging from Union Station the first time, it was the biggest thing he had ever seen—got a crash course in architecture, and I, a crash course in the wonders of being gay, by masters of the craft, his circle of friends, most of whom were somehow connected to The Body Politic.
One time, Gerald and I went to New York City for a long weekend. We stayed with his friend Herb Spiers, who lived in a loft near Gramercy Park. He had the whole second floor of an old commercial building that his boyfriend Ray Gray had purchased for a song when New York almost went bankrupt in the mid-1970s. Ray’s space was the whole top floor of the building (and the roof), which we visited using a tiny elevator that only stopped at two and seven. It was crazy awesome, also exactly what you would want.
Ray was an interior designer from Hollywood, California. Handsome. His loft, fully marbleized, was adorned with big Babylonian movie flats and large paintings. After a swanky dinner, Herbie pulled out his dick and slapped it on the table; it was his way of saying it was time to go to the Saint, an unbelievably fabulous private gay club inserted into an old theatre. For a brief moment there, I got a glimpse of the A-list New York gay life I had only ever read about, or heard about from Gerald, in what would turn out to be the last moments before it all went bad. Ray would be dead in a year.
Gerald took me to the Anvil, the Everard, the St. Mark’s, the Mineshaft. He thought I should see these places, so many stories were attached to them. But also he took me to a party at the home of the writer Jonathan Katz, where we both met the gay hero Harry Hay, founder of the Mattachine Society, the first gay rights organization. Both publicly and later privately, Harry was generous with praise for Gerald’s writing and activism; that is where I really got the sense of the importance of Gerald. Without Gerald, not just our city, but all Canada, would have been less free. He opened up the law, throat-rammed it until it hurt, turned himself into the Antichrist in the eyes of some, while carving out a larger space in our society for LGBTQ folk, who were always there anyways (also the whores). If they knew Gerald as I do, they would know his gentle kindness, his passion, his humour and love. Being with him makes me happy and I will miss him so.
— Chris Lea served as the first openly gay leader of a Canadian political party (Green Party of Canada) and was on the board of the Toronto City Opera with Gerald Hannon

FINALLYY a fellow msb enjoyer on tumblr 😭😭 AND a carlos stan at that. do you have any cdshipping headcanons because of I LURV all your screenshots of them!?
YES. I am SO GLAD YOU ASKED!
And I have plenty of headcanons.
If you're familiar with the Percy Jackson series and Star Trek TOS, cdshipping reminds me of Percy/Annabeth with a bit of McCoy/Spock thrown in. They're both super smart, they argue and bicker, they annoy the heck out of each other, but they've got each other's backs.
In the scene in The Magic School Bus Rocks and Rolls, when Dorothy Ann tells the "erode to ruin" joke, Carlos doesn't roll his eyes or groan. Instead, he high-fives her and says "Good one, D.A.!" I have a theory that for the longest time, he was trying to teach D.A. how to tell jokes, but wasn't having much luck. D.A. can remember facts and figures, no problem. Jokes are a lot harder (I also have trouble remembering puns). Anyway, Carlos gets D.A. some joke books for her birthday or Christmas or whatever. For a while, D.A. is only able to remember the puns when she's reading them in one of her books. The "erode to ruin" scene is the first time she comes up with a pun on the spot.
Their relationship is basically rivals to best friends to lovers, and they're still best friends during the "lovers" phase.
Carlos is probably the one who fell first. He spends more and more time with D.A., and realizes he likes their bantering and teasing. He stays up late thinking about her. By the time he admits out loud he has a crush on D.A., everyone else (including D.A. herself) has already figured it out.
Things they both like:
Star Trek
Space/astronomy
Cats
Bird-watching
Playing music
Dinosaurs
Greek mythology
Dorothy Ann: *does literally anything*
Carlos: THAT'S MY GIRL! YES!
They're both huggers. Whenever they haven't seen each other in a while, they hug each other. Their first response to having a rough day is to hug it out. Anyway: here's my list of times in the show that D.A. and Carlos should have hugged.
A few times in Out of This World. First, when Carlos arrives back at the bus after he and the Friz eject from the crashed space pod. And second, when the asteroid is destroyed and he's congratulating D.A. ("Well, we don't have to worry about that asteroid anymore! Way to go!")
Every other episode they're in.
Some songs I think fit them:
"Love Don't Roam" by Neil Hannon (this is from Doctor Who, and it's basically the song for the Tenth Doctor/Rose Tyler, another one of my favorite ships).
"Sunny" by Marvin Gaye
"Never Let Me Down Again" by Depeche Mode
"Island in the Sun" by Weezer
"Solar Waltz" by Cosmo Sheldrake
"Space Song" by Beach House
Thank you for your ask!

“Three Court Actions Result From Pranks on Hallowe’en,” Toronto Globe. November 5, 1932. Page 1. ---- (Staff and Canadian Press Despatches.) Loon Lake, Sask. Nov. 4. - Jack Cameron, Loon Lake farmer, who allegedly fatally shot Cecil Midgett, 16 years old, at the former’s farm Nov. 1, was committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter by C. F. Marshall, J.P. At the preliminary trial companions of the boy, who had gone to the Cameron farm for Hallowe’en pranks, said two shots were fired when Cameron and another man emerged from the house. They had played the old game of tick-tack - rolling a notched spool against the windows.
Woman Sentenced. Ottawa, Nov. 4. - One month’s hard labor was the sentence meted out today to Adrienne Lapointe, 40, the woman whose reception to 9-year-old Raymond Mencheti on Hallowe’en was to douse him with a kettleful of scalding water. The youngster, following juvenile custom on the night when weird shapes stalk through the streets, had called on the Lapointe woman for Hallowe’en apples. The woman’s response was to throw the boiling water over him.
Fence-rails on Tracks Hamilton, Nov. 4. - Eight youths of the Hannon district were convicted of disorderly conduct on Hallowe’en by Magistrate Vance in county Police Court today, and were allowed to go on suspended sentence after each had paid costs of $3. They were: Edward Soules, Roy Kenned, Don Kennedy, Tom Armes, Alex. Armes, John Rowman, Clifford French and Neil McKee. Chief Clark and Deputy Chief Green of Wentworth told of finding fence-rails placed upon the C.N.R. tracks in that district. A train, it was stated, passed over the spot a few minutes after the rails were removed, and these might have caused a serious accident had they been left there.

 Now more than ever, the world is hungry to gather and thirsty for connection.Many of us wish to share a meal, share our faith, and share our lives with others. We want to open our home to friends and neighbors for the sake of meaningful community, but we?re overwhelmed with hospitality hang-ups. How do I extend an invitation? What will they think of my house or the food? Our welcome has been influenced by the messages of?the world that tell us hospitality is about our ability to be, host, live, and?cook a certain way.In Gather & Give, Amy Hannon inspires you to embrace the simple hospitality of the Bible that values connection more than perfection and people more than presentation. Amy shares scriptural principles and practical ideas to make everyday hospitality a natural, joy-filled part of your life. You will feel encouraged and equipped to view your home as:a holy wellspring of welcome to offer hope to a weary world;a strategic springboard for ministering to those around you;
